DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games

By having the spare tyre option in that photo as opposed to spare tyres suggests perhaps an option to mix n match a bit. Possibly selecting on which corner the spare goes on, too. which will add an interesting dynamic if that's the case.

    I'd love a 2002 or 2003 wrc livery 206. Or a 206 generally would be quality.

Lucky! So have I technically since I got it digitally, but it doesn’t unlock until midnight. I don’t have work tomorrow so incredibly debating whether to stay up tonight and play for a little or just play tomorrow We all know what you're going to choose  >:) So do I haha! The first was one of my favourite games I’ve ever played and I can’t wait to be a rootin tootin cowboy shooter again! Well I'm currently playing through the prologue . I recommend staying up and playing straight away. Boy it sure is purdy

Yea they reversed stages in DR too so I imagine that's pretty standard. I hope we get double the unique stage miles we had in DR though to get the variety that each location presents within each event. Should be achievable.

Are we going to get some more DiRT news soon or are they waiting for that small indie game Red Dead to get out of the way?

Ive always lent toward authentic games so I've never played those kind of games except for motorstorm which was alot of fun. I know people like different things but it seems like on the whole there's a shift toward more authentic racing games in general. Which is great. Still can't get over how much I'm loving DR with the wheel right now. Give me dirt rally 2, now!

V rally worked in nostalgia factor only. Customers are heading more toward SIM based games atm. V Rally came out at a time nobody asked for it or as it turns out wanted it. And what the hell was that co driver yuck. The sounds were awful among other glaring visible issues that didn't encourage me to go anywhere near it. It's a shame because I still play wrc 7. But maybe just maybe they've taken a year off wrc but kept a team working on it so we get a truly superb wrc 8.  Anyway. Leaves a nice gap for our DiRT Rally 2.0.

Going from a controller to a wheel for the first time is a great feeling! I’ve been playing dirt rally a lot recently and I’ve finally got the hang of Sweden, and I’m actually enjoying it for a change! I found Sweden relatively comfortable. It's a lot easier with a wheel where you have that extra element of control. I'm still digging my nose into the inside banks don't get me wrong but it's slot easier than with a controller. Finland however i now can't deal with. Feel like I have to brake a bunch before any crest to make a corner 50m down the stage! Otherwise I'm airborne at my braking zone and aiming for the trees Ehhm there is a small bug, the handbrake works during the car is airborne. So turn the wheel a bit and use the handbrake to turn the car. Haha I'll try that. Shouldn't have to rely on bugs to keep the car on the stage though. Mostly it's been great with the wheel. The only other issue is Monte Carlo there's an unpredictable nature to understeer/oversteer regardless of surface changes. Some unusual responses but I think I'm using a wheel that isn't fully compatible with the game in the thrust master tmx (pc)

I do find now using a wheel (finally I can utilize the rwd cars) but using anything with any power on the Finnish stages is a bit crazy with the amount of flight the cars get. Didn't notice on controller as I'm obviously going a fair bit quicker with a wheel. It's insane in Finland though. I think cars need ailerons and elevators instead of wheels. Crazy!

I just played dirt rally using a wheel for the first time instead of a controller. Fallen in love all over again!

It's not like everyone making the game is only focusing on one thing. Making a solid rally game and adding damage effects or whatever aren't mutually exclusive. Obviously, however I'd rather time and effort spent on more ''constant' and persistent effects. Weather , dust etc. And you wouldn't have people working on just smoke. They would be diverting resources from elsewhere.  Either way I welcome any additional effects. I just think exhaust smoke is quite far down the list for me.

I'd rather them focus on making a solid rally game as opposed to a internal combustion engine diagnostics simulator. Plus I play cockpit view anyway so blue black or white smoke doesn't necessarily appeal.  I'd sooner see a spring poking through the bonnet of a car after sticking a wheel in a big hole.

Yea I'm not as fussed about car list as locations atm. I want to see stages and length of unique miles per event. Car list is something I'll be interested in after Ive eaten the meat and chewed the fat

Very much looking forward to seeing the other locations. Hopefully they start covering that soon. I'm guessing they're revealing 1 aspect of the game per month so this month will be covering initial release stuff and then next month hopefully locations etc

Im not sure it would need excessive visual damage. I mean, I play cockpit anyway. But I'd rather an extra layer of jeapordy. If I roll my car at 100mph and drive away pretty much unscathed except for an overheating engine it sort of removes that element of risk .but I guess manufacturers don't like potential customers finding out that their car might be a write off after a 100mph 10 roll crash into some pine trees.

Would people in here like a mechanical failure system in DR2? By that I mean something in line with F1. But say if you've been clubbing a few massive holes on the apex etc you can break your steering or suspension fully resulting in crawling to the finish or retirement. Adding a further risk reward element. As opposed to the usual suspension and component wear that seems to replace genuine damage in rally games? I just feel there should be more retirement possibilities instead of simply when you fall down a massive ravine. A heavy roll could cause retirement and such.

Yea but with it being in RBR I don't think Codies will want to use the same stages in order to avoid similarities etc

Wasn't mineshaft in RBR? Probably wouldn't use it. I would hope for the classic ball bearing gravel stages of the old WRC Australia though. That picture may be another NZ stage since they appear to be using red dust areas of nz

I think 5 cars per class is a must just for the sake of not seeing the same two cars all the way down the leaderboard

The Skoda is an extremely popular R5 at the mo. Specially if you see young Rovanpera tearing up the Welsh forests in it. So I'd like to see the Skoda. The VW R5 should be tasty too. But I'd like to see more variety. Certainly with FWD's . 2 car classes are dissapointing when competing in a championship .Variety being the spice n all that
