DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games

The Skoda is an extremely popular R5 at the mo. Specially if you see young Rovanpera tearing up the Welsh forests in it. So I'd like to see the Skoda. The VW R5 should be tasty too. But I'd like to see more variety. Certainly with FWD's . 2 car classes are dissapointing when competing in a championship .Variety being the spice n all that

Same. Looked like a pretty silly accident to be honest.  :'( We had been going slow because the car was damaged. We’re not sure if they had been stuck behind us for a little while and they might have been frustrated. But I think we would have noticed if they had been behind us for a long time Looked good. Put some more on boards up! Perhaps when all four corners of the motor are intact

Yeah. Stages were incredibly rough. Penmachno absolutely destroyed the car, collapsed front suspension and damaged gearbox or diff. Then we hit a huge rock two corners into slate mountain which put the nail in the coffin by breaking the steering arm. Even if we had made it through I don’t think we could have restarted. Pretty **** day. There was a nasty accident in Brenig and we got stopped by a red flag halfway through. Heading to dyfnant tomorrow to go watch Wait... who was it that threatened to put a big rock in the road? Someones missing a blackened eye. ;) If he put some of these rocks there then fair play, I’m not punching him in the face! https://instagram.com/p/BojtL6Mngr4/ Yep they were all mine! It's a shame but TBF Garth in some places was properly dug up. Specially second run. Let me know if you do plains or robin hood or something next year.

Didn't realise it would be so bumpy! That's a real shame I was looking forward to seeing you tearing up Garth. Next time buddy! Saw the picture on GB spectator forum. Took some punishment.

@RallyDriven what happened? Binned it on day 1?!

I think for me the cockpit cam in DR was perfect. The one that was just past the steering wheel so all you could see was the top of the dash.

Still some questions over road deformation. So positions 1-5 have to sweep the road Positions 5-10 get the sweet spot And then positions 10-100 get Rutted stage. Is that the same level of wear for position 10 as position 100 or will it get progressively worse?

Yea a time would help. Do you expect me to just watch the YouTube channel until something happens??!........I mean I will watch the YouTube channel until something happens BUT THATS BESIDES THE POINT

I agree. I think 2 stages did get stale. But more than that, they lacked the variety that a country offers. Like Argentina should have 2 high altitude rocky mountain stages and perhaps 2 lower altitude faster stages. Germany should have had vineyard stages as well as the military stages etc.

I highly doubt your stage will make an appearance. I don't think they could render it as well as the hand crafted ones and they would look out of place in comparison. With the promise of DLC in terms of new locations should keep things fresh enough though I would hope. I for one am certainly glad we are going back to hand crafted stages.

Yea I hope the rutting is event specific. I think it was Poland 2017 (WRC) some of the stages had been properly dug up a treat. Would be nice to get that variation between different gravel events whereas on some Welsh stages the road just gets polished like glass in some areas and ploughed on others

DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games

Yea so what I gather is there are three stages (for dry gravel) 1. (Top order) Loose surface/no clean line. Grip will be reduced as you are the one sweeping the road. 2. (Middle order) Clean line less loose gravel on top but also no ruts or excessive cambering. Ideal dry gravel conditions. 3. (Bottom order) Rutted and cambered corners with build up of loose material outside. Also I believe that this will have second loop stages factored in also. So if you were first on the road through the first loop, the stages will appear very different for the second run through. In terms of how it works in wet conditions I imagine it's better running up the order and the stages get more Rutted the lower down the order you run. Still no news about how it will effect tarmac but I imagine the lower down the order you are the more dirt dragged onto the corners from cutting.

The entire "gravity" setting in Dirt Rally was way off. Granted it gave us some really nice oversteering capability, but on bumpy rally and rallycross roads, if you keep "going light" and losing control of the car over every small bump, its very difficult to enjoy the game. So even though Dirt 4 was a mixed bag, I really couldn't go back the other worldly gravity of Dirt Rally. Dirt Rally had a LOT to improve in the physics, and I think most of it is being addressed in the footage we are seeing so far of 2.0  I think somewhere between the 2 would be ideal. I personally preferred the 'feel' of dirt rally (using controller) but I enjoyed the changes of physics under braking in D4. And I really enjoyed the rallycross handling in D4 even if it was a bit 'drifty'

DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games

I'm planning to be on Myherin all day Saturday. Will be driving up to Wales on Friday morning and hoping to get a few hours sleep in the car Friday night!  I really wanted to do myherin but I won't get there on time as I'm driving up Saturday morning. May just pop across for the second run if it's viable My original plan was to do more than one stage in the day, but I have been advised against it, so I am just going to stay there for the day.  Myherin doesn't finish too late, so if I am awake enough I might head up to Gartheiniog for the last run there: given it's in the opposite direction to home though I may not bother, as I think it will be about 6 hours from Myherin!  That's where I'll be. It's a great stage. Your more than welcome to bring a rock for @RallyDriven If we go out because of a rock on the stage you will be going out due to a fist to the face! If you’re driving up Saturday, I’d advise getting there as early as possible! Last year I got there three hours before the first car was due and I was one of the last people allowed into the car park as it was full. Everyone else had to walk almost two hours to get to the stage! Yea first run through is 11:02. I should be there by 08:40 all being well. I'm very familiar with the troubles of parking at GB though I haven't been since 2004! I used to go every year. I'm hoping most people will be drawn to sweet lamb/ myherin and Dyfi but we will see . Hopefully I strike it lucky!

I've tried finding videos but most Waikato rally stages appear to be on tarmac. We need a local to go recce! Also wondering what the in game Solberg would be. Appeared to me during the hype train that he/his story would be somehow a big feature as opposed to just technical support .but so far no clues.

Also there were other events in that game, like wildlife, lightning, forest fires... Yea the forest fires and rock slides and such can get in the bin, but I do like the crashed/retired/ slow cars

Thanks @Areyouben and @Lynx2000 . Appreciate the research and translation. Hopefully they do mean visible cars and not just tire tracks or some such.  And @gfRally NO KEN BLOCK/ NO BUY!

I've not played the game but I think I read somewhere that there are visible AI retirements Do you think you can find the link? I mean I understand if it isn't in as I imagine they want to create a great sim that works well online and AI retirements could be a distraction from other work Devs will be busy with, but as I play 99% single player against AI it would be a nice addition.

Good point, I would like to see that again (wasn't it in Dirt 4? Or am I thinking of WRC 7?) I would also like to see more random events like animals to keep every rally feeling a bit different, even if it's the same stage. They were in WRC 7. It'd be even better in a more simmy heavy game with that unexpected moment potentially putting you off rythm as you speed past a rival, perhaps with spectators flagging you down as you approach. Nice immersion point.

Do the guys who've tried the game know if there'll be AI retirements visible on stage?

Over the next 5 months... Brilliant. Cheers  Whilst that's obvious I was sort of hoping for more of a widespread reveal today. Greedy perhaps.  Really want to see the terrain and style of the other events.
