DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games

Yea that's definitely big Phil in the co-drivers seat. Sounds great. The New Zealand stage looks great, more red gravel than the grey I remember from watching wrc New Zealand in the early 2000's but I'm sure it's accurate to the area.  I'd like to see more info on the other rallies and how they look. I love what I've heard about surface deformation. It's great to know that running order now has an effect.

This is a translation in regard to surface deformation. This is especially noticeable in the new feature called "surface degradation". Put simply, the soil quality of the gravel, asphalt and dirt tracks changes over time. The vehicles rake up the pavement, sweeping rocks sideways off the track, while dry soil turns into mud as the rain sets in. Since it makes a significant difference, whether you drive ahead and still finds good conditions or at the end of the field crossed a rumpled crater landscape. Well, that may be a bit exaggerated, but you will feel the difference guaranteed, but you can also adjust to the changed conditions and for the first time in DiRT Rally determine which tires you raise. Quite an exciting tactical component.

Seems to confirm road sweeping in there which is ace. Also mentions wrc cars, though I imagine they mean the R5's. Also they state that the New Zealand rally centres around the Waikato region. Not sure what that's like but hey.

I'd imagine 10:30 again for more from Codies. Maybe that's the embargo lifty time, too.

Haha thanks, we will be in the black and green mg in my profile picture! I’m going to Gwydir to watch on the Sunday  I think I'll only be going for the Saturday as I have a 1 year old and a busy schedule. I'll definitely look out for the little zr on Saturday though. Give it the beans!

@RallyDriven I'll be on Gartheiniog I reckon for both run throughs on the saturday so I'll give you a shout of support from the banks and try and get a picture. That's if you survive the early stages of course!

Any ideas whether it will be playable at Rally G.B? I'm going anyway but wondering whether or not to hit the service park. That will depend entirely on Codies.

Yea I have been a controller user on dirt rally. But oh man. I can't forgive chase cam. Thought that was in just to tick a box, didn't think anyone actually used it.

There were steaming mugs in the service area in Dirt 4... but was it tea or coffee? Well, mechanics drink tea so that's case closed. Coffee doesn't give the same tutability when over quoting a job to customers. Example : 'tut tut tut ....it's not gonna be cheap' Tea all the way.

I want to get back to talking about the game. The pleasure I get from knowing that Codies Devs watch this thread and see that most of our desires have been answered and implemented only to discover a thousand new ideas to give them headaches for the next iteration!

I'm bored of VR posts. Putting me off VR all together  :D

I hope so. I'd love running position to really matter. Would be a top immersion detail for me. Especially if it's done right with championship leader running first on day 1 and then a reversed order for days 2 and 3

Ooh now you're pushing my buttons. Seasonal options for rallies?! Some seasons heavy snow, some seasons none at all. I think that's a bridge too far at the mo but it would be great

DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games

I'm mostly hyped because it's a sequel to DR and not D4 In terms of locations I've never seen a U.S rally in game that has ignited my rally spirit but I'm sure I'll have that changed. I'm interested to see how they've interpreted Spain, as in will it be pure tarmac or a mixed surface event in order to highlight tire choice etc? And finally very very excited to hear more about surface deformation. To what extent have they gone? Is it a case of road sweeping or simply weather based deformation? On tarmac stages will we see more dirt kicked out from the apex if we run down the order or are on a second loop of the day? Lots of questions but already very impressed and very excited to see what is to come.

Well they've had some 4wd models in the past. But I guess RWD is more fun anyway. But still I'd imagine it'd have to sit in an RGT class or something similar.

I'm imagining the Porsche would be 4wd, no? And I'd reckon the Camaro and Porsche would sit in an RGT category. I mean I know they're typically rwd but that things been setting some mean times

It would be great if it was weather dependent. For example dry loose gravel stages are more difficult for the front runners. But the same stages wet could be tougher for the cars running down the order because of ruts/polished surfaces etc

Am I right in thinking @urgaffel mentioned we may get more game info today? Or have I made that up?

Fanatec wheels aren't that expensive. Although the CSL for PS4 is strangely $100 more than the one for Xbox... Gotta be some kind of licensing issue since it took them quite a while to make one for PS4. Well the g29 is about £170 and the fanatec is a whopping £460 ish. I'm thinking if the Logitech feels nice in the hand and has a decent ffb motor then it might be a solid option.

I have the Logitech g920 for Xbox (think the PS4 version is called the g29) and it’s a great wheel for a reasonable price (around £150) Cheers pal. I did eye up the g29 and I think I may go for it before dr2 arrives. Nice one.

I haven't tried DR with VR but I'm sure it's great. That said, not buying what looks to be the best rally game ever made because it doesn't have vr is an unusual one to say the least. If VR was added to DR but not to D4 perhaps it had something to do with the procedural stages? I dunno. Either way I'm sure they'll add it if they can and if they do I'll give it a whirl if I can afford it. Steering wheel first though.  Has anyone tried wheels on PS4? If so which one works best? (Don't know if I can warrant 50 billion pounds on a fanatec thingy, mind)

Haters gonna hate. I thought that Argentina stage looked bloody incredible. Months from release and looking that good I'm pretty happy. Absolutely superb stuff. You have my pre order at a promise!

DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games

Probably because it's an absolute bag of **** at the moment. I'm sure it's being worked on for future releases. And with the promise of additional stages and content that should keep things fresh. I'm sure there'll be enough stage miles to keep online interesting.

DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games

Hat has firmly been taken off to the Codies team. They've listened to our constant whining and appear to be dropping the holy grail. If we end up with 10 or more rallies of decent length that'll be a game that could last a very long time indeed
