    DiRTy Gossip about WRC8

Well they've already confirmed PC3 is in the works, but apparently the focus will be more........need for speedish

Potential placeholder perhaps. I reckon Finland and Wales for season 2. Greece and IRELAND for season 3. And the one remaining a placeholder for now perhaps.

How Far Away Is Realistic Audio?

The audio sounds real nice through my headset with headset audio. The only car I find too quiet is the manta. But I think that's a bug. I'd love some exhaust and extra gravel sounds , maybe an option to go to 150 on the sounds so as not to lose engine sounds finding the balance you like. I dunno. The sounds are generally something special though.

    Yep. That's why it makes sense that season 2 will be DLC 1.5 1.6 and 1.7 x2 It fits a pattern. Season 3 would be DLC 1.8 1.9 and 1.10 x 2

No you aren't understanding. There are only one of the 1.6 1.8 1.9 etc, suggesting they are rally locations. There are 2 1.7 and 1.10s which suggests two items dropping at the same time. Suggesting, as rx locations are smaller, perhaps the doubles are rx locations. So version 1.7 will be two rx, and version 1.10 will be two rx. The others will be rally locations for decent people. That's the working theory based on very little science.

Think he means, it sort of makes sense if the game version numbers drop with the DLC then perhaps that suggests two locations dropping on the same day, as opposed to 1 per month. Given that rx tracks are smaller, they may be dropping 2 in the same package. Dunno if that's any clearer, it seems so in my my head, but I'm an idiot.

How Far Away Is Realistic Audio?

Yea I'd like more of the raw sound, particularly gravel and als sounds in cockpit, even though it may not be fully realistic. I think one of the issues is getting the mix right with the co driver. That said the sound is pretty beautiful as is.

    Rally Car Transmission

Pretty sure we all sure of that despite perhaps some poor explanation on my part.

How Far Away Is Realistic Audio?

The sound in a real rally car is a bit more brutal, but to be fair you'd get complaints about not hearing the co driver properly if it was mixed any differently. And yea I think the above video is largely down to distortion.

    My Team Questions.

Definitely agree from the team management perspective, I was hoping for more car management, research and development etc, especially with the r5s. I personally prefer the linear event model compared to dirt 4s which I didn't like. And I think people including myself heavily requested a return to the dr1 model. That said, I'd definitely want an f1 style mechanical wear and tear, and upgrade system implemented.

    Daily Events Results

    That's a good question, I don't think so.

    My Team Questions.

I found the contracts thing really annoying, and in the end I just never renewed anything. There should be more depth, but not in pointless renewals. I'd like an upgrade system similar to f1 where you can work on various aspects of your car, and also bring the risk of mechanical failure too.

    Rally Car Transmission

Yea wrc2 still use traditional sequential shifting, wrc cars exclusively use paddles unless they have a selector issue, in which case they have a sequential, floor mounted shifter as back up.

Sorry, I misunderstood you. And I just just picked a random mexican gravel stage, there's no super smooth conspiracy here, I promise. lol!

I agree completely. It was merely an exercise in demonstrating the difference between feeling through the seat, and feeling through the wheel. *not completely agree, but to a fair extent. I think the sawing is to keep the car poised as opposed to fighting bumps. It seems similar to my driving inputs in dr2, I might try and record a video. AND YES, I AM JUST LIKE McRAE!

I don't think it's unrepresentative. That's typical Wales as far as I'm concerned. Maybe without the quarry gravel low speed corners. I've got a video from Mexico here as Well. But the point is simply that suspension through the seat is a very different amplified feedback compared to steering.

    DiRTy Gossip

My prediction is 3 remaining DR locations (Greece, Finland, wales) 2 new locations (hopefully Ireland) and 4 Tesco car parks released in pairs, hence two 1.7 and two 1.10 locations.

6 new rx locations? The prospect of that makes me feel physically sick.

Yea i still dont get The decision to have those awful post stage comments in the game. Especially if I've just come back in a car that looks like it's fallen foul of a u.s drone strike.

Any argument to your post will only be from a place of extreme jealousy. That Yamaha looks like a lot of fun. I can only comment from a stand point of my experiences in various vehicles, on various surfaces, and at various speeds. I've never driven an SxS unfortunately but I'm sure your description is bang on. I can only use the above video to demonstrate the relative ease at which the wheel is operated in comparison to the beating that he is taking through the seat.

But the shock absorbers dilute that energy, and the forces are transferred through the steering column in a more linear fashion, and the steering columns themselves, through power steering systems absorb yet more of the shock. If you watch rally onboard you can see just how light the wheels are. Again, that's not to say that we don't need more feeling, just that your science is a little 'cherry picked' Dunno About you but the above video looks at times like he's driving on glass. You can see that his body is being shaken around by the terrain translating info through he suspension, but this isn't reflected through the steering. Particularly not 1/1 as you appear to suggest.

I couldn't agree more. It'd be great to have a different model for cars without power steering etc

Well that's my point. And my Ibiza is a road car. With electronically assisted power steering. However competition cars have intelligent shock absorption now too, otherwise you'd be fighting the wheel no end. What you notice in a rally car is just how light everything is. But you're absolutely right that we aren't in real cars and thus require the seat sensation being translated through the wheel. A 1970s sports car with a straight steering rod and no modern shock absorption is a different matter entirely.

The impression you put out, in as far as every recent post of yours that I have read, gives off a pea-soup-thick odour of narcissism. The condescending language and relentless pursuit of a weird, contrived sense of inflated superiority are incredibly off-putting. Not to say that your opinions are invalid. But the way you voice them is just awful. My experience of modern steering (due to modern shock absorbtion) is that almost everything transferred through a vehicle with electronically assisted power steering is related to wheel direction, sat I guess. The suspension bumps and vibrations that I experience (both on roads, and on Welsh gravel) come through the car, not the steering column.
