That was the minimums in DR1, so while I haven't checked in 2.0, it wouldn't surprise me if they kept that from DR1

Remove Always Online for the Career!

It's never going away. I think anyone waiting for it to magically be removed will be waiting a long long time. And while people want to complain about it, honestly there is no issue. Maybe if you have spotty internet it can cause you problems, but in my 100+ hours so far the only issue it has ever given me was failing to connect - when Steam went down for Tuesday maintenance. I understand the general idea against it, but when it just works for the vast majority of players I can't really see the argument to avoid the game over the requirement. Even if you literally never touch My Team and only play around in Free Play time trials or Championships, you'll get more than your monies worth from the game.

Well damn, I think this is the update that is going to send me to Microcenter for a new dedicated gaming SSD... I can't keep shuffling games off of my main one to my media HDD just to update DR2.0, and then shuffle them all back -.-

I wonder if spamming random enough in Custom Championship would trigger it to pull from the wrong list 🤔

I think we all totally get where you are coming from on this, but people (like the internet always does) are blowing things out of proportion. Lack of comms? We have Christina on here basically daily giving some communication, sure it may not be a massive roadbook but it isn't radio silence. I think we'd all love more communication on exactly what is being worked on, but priorities change constantly so I can also see why Codies won't commit to a lot of things that aren't slated for the immediate next patch or so. Because the team doing DLC work is not the same team doing bug fixes. The art and asset team isn't going to be able to magically fix audio problems or overhaul the handling model for FFB. So why let them as a resource go to waste? They had been spun off onto the DR1 location overhaul project months and months ago, not a few weeks ago at release. Regardless of 2.0 having a buggy launch or a flawless launch, that resource had been allocated and was going to get their deliverable done by the planned date. Because people who are upset tend to have the loudest voice and most motivation to make that voice heard - the people who are happy are busy racing. And how many times can you bump the same thread that says "this game is great, I love feature X, Y, and Z" before people move on to talking about new things? About new features they want? About new challenges the community hosts?

which is why I keep running them now, trying to own as many as possible before my #Stock4Life setups no longer can hold WR's

Game breaking? What is game breaking, my game seems to be running just fine. Are there some annoying things? Yeah, of course, but 90% of the game works great and the other 10% has some kinks that need to get worked out. Sounds like any game on release.

Felt like I needed to share this juicy bit of gossip over here on the forums as well. @ChristinaMc confirmed something for me on reddit that I know a lot of people have been worried about - how DLC content will be handled in MP. Looks like it runs on the "host policy"; if they own it, everyone can play it!

While I normally totally agree with you MadMaxx, this could be reasonably done by doing some smart camera tricks. Just figure out the offsets for each camera position to end up in the "cockpit" position but then zoom and tweak the FoV to look like the old camera position. Assuming it works and you want to let any combo of camera/audio to work, you just create a map of that contains <SoundOffsetModel> that is basically just a bunch of tweaks to swap in. That is if it works how we are both assuming in this scenario. And that all the camera zoom hacks work. Would be really cool but I can see why it isn't a top priority...

You are kind of right here, but you have to understand most of the criticisms on these forums (if they aren't coming from some of the most active members) tends to come across pretty... shall I say entitled and snobby? Most of them aren't offering up real critiques but just spew drivel and nonsense complaining about everything like it's the end of the world. You definitely have very valid points on what 2.0 lacks, I don't think many on here would argue them, but most of the members here who stick around tend to have a long-term scope in mind. While reddit and twitter are all blowing up about patches not being out 2 weeks after launch, most of us here understand the game hasn't even been out a month yet and that Codies is going to get us those patches. We all mostly knew 2.0 was going to have growing pains early on so we aren't really holding it against CM while they work on fixing it. Now if we get to DLC2 and nothing has been actually addressed, you'll see a very different side of these forums come out. tl;dr - the members here are getting a thick skin to initial criticisms because most are mindless drivel without substance; but if you actually present your points you'll find most agree with the shortcomings you bring up.

This is only the case if the last fix you did was a quick fix. If you quick fix, your mechanics are basically Jerry-rigging the part to make it through the event at any cost - that cost being replacing it after the event. So quick-fixing things will actually cost you more money in the end if you are quick-fixing only lightly damaged components instead of timing the quick-fixed on things that are more like 70% damaged since you'll be wanting to replace those components soon anyways. And yes, the R5's are expensive as hell to maintain. It's the main reason I've been saving that class for the Masters championship where the events actually pay out enough to cover the maintenance costs of the car.

Is that why you are also not allowed to show anything more than "Dirt Player" for people on other platforms? Seems like a weird restriction to have placed on the team, but then again most of the stuff Microsoft and Sony do to spite each other is pretty weird...

I want to say we already had confirmation on this, but don't remember if it was here or in the Discord. I'm 99% sure though that it'll be at least pc/console cross platform, and pretty sure it'll be completely pc/console/console cross platform

Pretty much, and I think most importantly it ensured even playing fields as far as deformation went. Thankfully too, current challenges have enough drivers that we tend to have a few consistent racers who post extremely strong times that are in the realm of top 10 WR's. So as long as the dailies stay active we should have a ballpark idea for a while. The conditions being the same definitely help, but at least in DR1.0 the conditions didn't affect people's times nearly as much and it hold true for the most part in 2.0 as well. I think a nice compromise would be something as simple as a 2nd leaderboard you can tab over to that shows the current Time Trial leaderboard for that surface condition regardless of the current time of day. This way if you did a night/wet daily you can compare with that challenge's times as well as the current WR wet times, even if those were set during the day in TT mode. It wouldn't be perfect, but it would let you get some very good comparisons in.

Someone in the discord was showing they could get pretty close to that same angle at different parts of the track just using the track-side cams. Not saying you're wrong, but I don't think a single screenshot from the game is proof of a photomode. That corner Jon used for the jump and pic also seems like one a trackside cam would be prime for and definitely setup to capture that exact kind of pic.

Honestly someone needs to put in the time and effort to go port all of @F2CMaDMaXX's info out of the Discord and onto these forums. It's a treasure trove of info that I think would help a lot of people out
