@MaXyMsrpl You understand what you are asking for right? You asking for CM to release an 80gb client that can't play the game, but can be downloaded for free by other people. You cannot have spectator mode without forcing the viewer to install the entire game files. Yes, it'd be nice to let anyone view without having to own the game or install it. That is asinine and not happening though because it would be a waste of resources. No one is requesting a fee, CM is just letting other players spectate their friends in game. It's no different than all of the other titles which do the same thing - you can spectate people in game. But you need to be in the game to spectate. If you want to passively watch for free, go hop on twitch. If you want to control the content you are consuming, you're going to need to own the content and be in game to do so.

Is there a way to change difficulty in Career mode ?
Mike Dee replied to koog2003's topic in DiRT Rally 2.0
If only we could get the "Custom Championship" option back from DR1. Pick the number of events for the champ, number of stages per event, AI difficulty, and class - game generates you a championship accordingly and pays out the appropriate credits for the length/difficulty. Would be nice for doing one-off events late at night when you don't want a full championship and only a few more stages before calling it. Or if you have been driving all day and just want to end the session on a high note by doing a "weird" class you normally never pick and drop the AI difficulty to compensate. Or if you ever just needed those last 15 miles to get an upgrade... -
Doesn't the Rift S use inside out tracking? So no more tracking poles, but Doesn't the Rift S use inside out tracking? So no more tracking poles, but that can be less accurate when you don't have a great camera array to do the tracking. Also adding all those cameras will definitely add some bulk/weight to the device. IIRC the resolution is an ok bump up, but far from anything good enough - something like 2560x1440p now across both eyes but it's only a single panel with a lower refresh rate. @Madhun1967 we have come farther, a lot farther, but the problem is most people never were ok paying the prices needed to support the high end headsets. Originally the $600-$700 price point would have kept the trend of better going, but people have basically capped out around $300-$400 as the most they will spend. Some people will still spend $1,000 to get the good stuff, but that portion of the market is so much smaller that all the focus is now on sub $500 headsets; and heavily pushed towards even lower than that. You can get 4k headsets if you want, but they will cost you more than a new 2080ti and you'll need two of those to truly run a 4k headset at 90hz. Most people aren't willing to spend that much money on something that has very limited applications to use it with.

No, not even close. Unless there is a new secret model that hasn't been officially announced, the Rift 2 (which was internal dev only) was the closest they'd get. The new Rift S and Quest are basically the same as the original Rift, minimal gains with lots of "gotchyas" on each end. Best chance of seeing real high fidelity VR is going PiMaxx or waiting for some of the new HP Reverb style headsets - all of which are going to cost you a lot more and the performance cost will be an even bigger jump than the price.

Oh yeah, you don't have to tell me. I used to own a Rift before I resold it, and the spatial awareness VR adds is insane. You know exactly how big your car is on the stage and how much room you have everywhere. The problem for me was the graphical fidelity of all games was **** compared to my 1440p monitors. VR destroyed my LODs, combo'd with the SDE and blurry objects made finding all of my braking points a pain in the ass. Overall I was just way faster on monitors so I resold the Rift to wait for a better quality headset. Been thinking of grabbing the Index but I don't know if it is high enough resolution yet to fix my problems or if my 1080ti will be able to manage the proper LODs.

Yes, this is exactly what he means.

Because the obvious answer is a software bug that rolled out inadvertantly and Codemasters decided to honor the few sales that did happen. They won't comment on it (like they refuse to comment on a lot of stuff) until they have full sign off from all parties involved and the marketing team. Read any of PJ's comments and they all basically say "we cannont confirm any of this or promise it in the future (but we aren't denying that all of these talks are happening)". Just like everyone who is complaining about the crappy performance of Oculus on Steam with SteamVR, give the dust a chance to settle. The SDK was always coming to Steam eventually, that was obvious, but it wasn't there on initial launch. No huge surprise really, and everyone over reacting about it and complaining who jumped shipped to the Oculus store was just impatient. Look, a bit over a month after VR launch, what happens? We find out the SDK is coming to Steam - wow! Same thing is happening with the DLC, it will come to the Oculus store. It's just a matter of time, give it a bit and you will see the DLC over there.

Because you may be #200 in SS1, but that time might be used to get you through qualifiers through cumulative time - so you need to vet every time. And again, you ignore the fact that there is no clear rule - no clear way to decide one line is fair and one line isn't without forcing 4 wheels on the track at all times. Which just isn't rally at all. You come down to random employee discretion which is about the worst way you could run anything.
-
There is your problem - who/how/what determines an advantage? Is it any advantage even through a mistake? What about people who wallride banks to carry speed through corners a gear higher but only have 2 wheels on the bank? Too much ambiguity in there for a WC this size. There needs to be very clear, very definable rules that leave absolutely zero questions.

Yes, it's actually a pretty common exploit in any game that is normally limited to campaign speed running. Unfortunately in point-to-point races that exploit becomes a lot more useful online and outside of campaigns. And I think we can all agree that we'd much rather not have any of these really bad cuts used, but it is an extremely hard thing to handle. The only "fair" option is to place objects on the stage which prohibit those kinds of cuts. You can't limit it to eliminating runs through video/replay because there is too much room for human error. Who is to say what cut is too much and would cause a penalty. The only way we could do that would be have reset zones added to places we deem to be unsportsmanlike, there is no question about reset zones. But without being able to use those, it's all some arbitrary line drawn in the sand. Who is to say one run is invalid because of a cut, but another run 1ft closer to the track isn't? There is no hard and fast rule that is easy to apply here, or are we going to resort to "all 4 tires must stay on the stage at all times"? That is about the only other option I can think of that actually might be able to fix it - but 4 tires on the track is something for circuit racing, not rally. Rally is about pushing the track limits, finding where you can dip 1, 2, hell maybe even all 4 through an inside grass line to open up your exit. It's just an ugly position to be in with no good quick solutions =/

81. No forms of cheating, gameplay, gamesmanship or gaining an unfair advantage in any way will be tolerated. This includes, but is not limited to: Hardware modification - Any modification made to a piece of hardware allowing it to function in a way the manufacturer did not intend. This includes adding or inserting anything not originally on the hardware configured by the organisers. Hacking - Any modification made to the game or other software by any person other than by way of standard software patches or updates. Exploiting game glitches - Intentionally using any in-game bug to seek an advantage. Exploiting is defined as utilising any game function that, in the sole determination of the organisers, is not functioning as intended. Impersonation (including playing under another driver’s account) - to be understood as playing under another driver’s account or soliciting, inducing, encouraging or directing someone else to play under another driver’s account. Collusion - Any agreement among two (2) or more participants and/or other persons to affect any competition or race and/or opposing drivers. --- Emphasis mine. To me this reads as using reset zones to force you further along the stage (old DR1 Monte glitches) - not just driving right next to the reset zone without triggering it.

From what I remember on the tyre system was that they did get it working how they wanted (and we expected) but that some issues which popped up late in production caused them to revert to an earlier model. I remember one of the devs saying it was very common for them to use Mediums or Hards during inter-office events because the tires would start to go fast. Basically how the tyre models work is that they are all individually simualted. The wear that occurs on the tires isn't something as simple as "the wear coefficient for Soft = X, Medium = Y, Hard = Z" - every single action you perform impacts each tyre individually. If you drift around you will where out the tires faster than driving smooth and clean. Dragging the right tires through the grass the entire time with the left on tarmac will cause the right to wear out more. Pulling the handbrake and doing a 2 minute burn out in a GT will shred the back tires and you will feel it the very first corner you take after that. What the exact issues were with the tyres that caused them to revert was never fully explained, but it was something they addressed saying they would like to eventually go back and work on it again if they get a chance. Sadly it is pretty low on the priority list compared to other things which parts of the community have been extremely vocal about.

Was already confirmed that all cuts are allowed if they do not require code modification. We had a big discussion about it leading up to the qualifiers and that was the final ruling.
-
This may be true for stock cars that aren't modified for racing disciplines, but I would argue the opposite is the case for high end rally cars. Watch any of the on-boards, they are able to slap through a sequential shifter with minimal effort and can do so very fast. They are designed specifically to do so, but many also are running true dog-box so you've got room to preload each shift (which you can't get in sim gear for < $900) But the actual shifting is short throw, unless we are using historics with original parts. I fully get what you mean when you say you prefer the authenticity of h-box and full wheel rotation, but a big portion of the sim-gear consumers are also looking for the optimal gear that helps them drive faster. So wheels that can deliver good FFB at lower DoR are very useful along with accessories that make your life easier while driving so you can focus on holding that line flatout in 6th gear.
-
I read that as meaning after week 1. Times aren't "validated" until the close of the event when every position is finalized. Once the final positions and times are validated and become accepted then the rewards (including quarter finals invites) are sent out.
-
Car should be in your garage tomorrow at some point once the first round of the WC qualifiers has completed

I want to say @F2CMaDMaXX runs a 450° rotation? Might be a nice step in between the two for you to try out
-
I'd argue that is not the case, specifically in rally. You need those mid-corner shifts for weight transfers and a sequential setup is designed to make that even easier. If the paddles were fixed it'd be 100x easier to pull off because they're always in the same spot so no "getting lost" with them. It is doable with wheels where the paddles aren't fixed, plenty of people run it at 540° and do just fine, but for max performance you either need them fixed or on a low enough rotation as to not have to move your hands off the wheel.
-
Have you tried to downshift with paddles on a 720° DoR setup? Way too annoying trying to track the paddles after half a rotation
-
Consider playing with it at 345°-360° too. It'll give you a bit more fine-tuning room and you'll still be able to hit the paddles at full lock 👍

I blame PJ for this final stage in the Monthly... NSFW (swearing in the pitch black)

Lol, now we know why dash cam is coming with 1.9 - just in time for @PJTierney's new rig Looks awesome though, enjoy it. Also, well done on the monitor positioning, another connoisseur of the best camera position 😉
-
@DimJones those switchback hairpins 😍
-
It's not about being aware - it's about seeing that the community wants this enhancement enough to prioritize it over other enhancements. Threads show there is more than one or two people who want the feature, so the dev team can then move that feature up to get it into production sooner

Please review the co driver on dirt rally 2.0
Mike Dee replied to Protomorph's topic in DiRT Rally 2.0
The one stage that opens with the downhill over jump/crest into hairpin right - I think the stage is Ampelonas Ormi. If you don't know that hairpin is there, the call doesn't come until you're in 6th gear halfway to redline and 50ft passed any kind of braking point that might be able to save you. The real problem is Phil just rambles on and talks way way wayyy too much. If they removed every other word he said, the notes would probably all be on time then and we wouldn't lose any pertinent info 90% of the time.
