Sssh..I'll tell you a secret: the eyes serve to observe and the brain to reflect before opening the mouth. Look here:

And I'll tell you a secret - just because some people posted about it almost an entire year ago, doesn't mean many people are having problems with it. No one is saying it wouldn't be a nice to have, but there are very few people who are saying it is required to even play. Very few people are so turned off by it that they won't even play the game like you.

Probably because most of this forum plays with the keyboard (you) and controller using the external camera.

And please don't bring that kind of **** in here. People play how they want to play, it doesn't invalidate anything. But for the record, a lot of the drivers here have fairly expensive setups and even they aren't complaining about it. So if the people on $20 keyboards don't have any issue with it, the people on $50 gamepads are cool with it, and the drivers in their $2,000 rigs haven't had any serious problems - maybe you should reevaluate how "bad" it really is.

That part of the code should already be written, considering that in vr the "lock" works perfectly.

Yup, I'll agree with you there. Some code exists which achieves what you are asking for in one very specific implementation and the constraints around that implementation

It would be enough to copy and paste it in the appropriate file

Aaaand we are back to laughing. If you think code can just be copy and pasted because "it is doing the same thing" you clearly have never worked in any significant capacity on big projects.

Nothing is ever as simple as "edit the string" or "just copy and paste" the code. Not to mention the sponsors are going to need to fight for priority with the team, no matter how "simple" a fix is, you still need to justify why your fix should come ahead of the other 2 dozen fixes in the backlog.

    so its not that hardcore.

Honestly, DR1's default damage model was more hardcore than DR2.0's Hardcode model.

Back in DR1 during League events for Finland, I would have to brake check the biggest jumps and even racing clean would leave me sitting at ~80-85% performance on most of my components after 3 stages without service. If you raced it flatout like it was time trials, it wouldn't be surprising to DNF without hitting anything. Just running cars flatout on gravel roads over jumps was enough to start destroying cars after 12 stages - and we would run for 24 stage events. It was common for us to see most people running at 80% of their pace in the final stages because the car had engine lights on since SS16.

I miss that about DR1. Back then, events were just as much an endurance race as they were a sprint. Now it feels a lot more like sprints... Physics overall went way up, just with the damage was more punishing. You shouldn't be able to finish 12 stages and have all of your parts above 90% performance. We beat the ever living **** out of these cars trying to push the limits, the damage model just doesn't feel like it shows =/

Been looking for this picture for ages. means a fair bit to me because my parents' car when I was a kid was the wagon version of that legacy, also in white. no livery though 😉

We were talking about the color of the 'RALLY' being a different hue/tint for the teaser in the discord channel so I had to go back and do some digging for the video. Knew the color was familiar so I looked up the Chris Jojo interview videos and articles about his audio work for DR/2.0/CM. Pretty obvious what the first 2 surprises will be for 2020, the real question now is how many will follow and will they only be cars...

  5. I think I got us a lead! Look at the teaser image. See all those dots? Bet they can be arbitrarily connected to fit whatever conspiracy we can cook up... like constellations of the upcoming cars, or maybe each one is a corner in some of the upcoming stages. Get to work you thirsty gossipers!

Its different setup sections for asphalt, snow and gravel.

Still needs more tho - and that's coming from the "weird" driver who refuses to tune cars and only runs stock setups.

Gravel alone would need more than 8 setups. Finland Dry/Wet, Greece Dry/Wet, Wales Dry/Wet, and New England Dry/Wet could burn those 8 slots because all of those are very different setups for people. And there are still even more locations you could need setups for, before factoring in "test" or "work-in-progress" setups. If you already have 7 setups you like, you're forced to save the last slot for your "test bench" or you're forced to screenshot/write things down on paper.

The setup save data should be tiny, absolutely unnoticeable on your system, so give us unlimited slots. There is no reason to limit them, and if you must limit them then at least use something no sane person will hit like 99 setups per car.

I’d just like a better career mode. It’s just so bare bones as it is and doesn’t feel like the team actually does anything.

As someone who just got F1 2019 while it was on sale, I think enhancing the entire team aspect could add a lot to the career. Make actual manufacturer teams/privateer teams; give me a reason to care about how my fellow E30 driver or insert-sponsor-name-here driver finished because we are on the same team. Give us a bit of the drama around rally weekends, have the rivalries flair up and give us some of those cinematic between teams/drivers. Sure it's a bit cheesy, but it adds flavor that could be fun.

Add a layer of "team focus/research" through the season too and it could get really interesting. Maybe expand on the current idea of tiered engines, where you could have your team focus more on car durability at the cost of speed but it'll pay off for certain locations that tend to be longer than 2 stages per stop. Idk just throwing stuff around, but would definitely love to see more depth to the My Team aspect, and mostly in the why should I care part of it. Right now it kind of feels like you're racing in isolation.

  8. Oh I get the feeling we're getting more than just a new car or two. My big question really comes down to how recently did they commit to a Season 5/6? I'm curious to see if we will see a Season 5 of just cars + liveries because they were quicker to get through QA/legal, but a Season 6 of locations because they take longer? Or was there enough dev time to sneak in maybe 1 location + cars for Season 5 and do the same with Season 6?

CM knows how bad we all want new Rally locations, and I think if they'd do more content they would get us a new location as well. Now what location could it be....

    ^ what is this @PJTierney?

do we finally have a way to avoid the 30 seconds of waiting between each stage??  This would be HUGE in MP lobbies. We already have enough down time between races that people can quit, check if other lobbies are up that are better, and join back before the next stage even begins to load.

Next up: Max McRae, Collin's 15 year old nephew.

Holy hell that kid is living the dream. Rallying at 15 years old in that car?!? That is like the ultimate daydream for 15 year old me back in the day.

Why not let the players have a «Merry Christmas» livery for every car they manage to go through a full rally calendar, that is 12 rallies with all 12 stages each, a total of 144 stages in custom championship during the month of December! All 144 stages must be completed, and no retirements allowed. This way everyone can have a «Merry Christmas» livery on their favourite cars

I'm totally down for an endurance livery, I love these kind of challenges with exclusives tied to results. The real problem with that though is wayyy less than 10% of players would get that livery. I would say even 1% achieving a full endurance calendar would be way above my expectations. While a lot of fast drivers have no problem hopping on occasionally to get into the top 10% on any given event, very few people are willing to put in the 432 minutes (7.2 hours) worth of racing time to even finish all 144 stages. And that # is completely low balling it since I just assumed 3 minutes per stage x 144 stages. In reality it's more like 9+ hours of driving.

Even broken up over an entire month most people couldn't achieve it. That would require you to complete 3 events per weekend, or 36 races in 48 hours. That is a lot of time for most people.

    2) As a player who has a lot of responsibilities and i can afford to play in my free time, i don't like the idea of rewarding the top 10% of players. In the game i am the type of collector and i want to receive all rewards. I am sad that i may not receive something.  Can it be changed somehow?

While I get the point, why does everyone feel the need to have everything? Do people not enjoy the idea of earning things anymore or that certain items are limited to those who put in the time? The reason things become coveted in games and communities has a large part due to the fact that not everyone can have it. That adds to the value. Why not have a cool, limited livery for those who clear a certain hurdle? Would be much cooler IMO if it was an RX livery though because other people would actually see it too.

Which tyres do you guys usually use and why?

Softs every single time. Only exception is Wet surface in Spain or Germany - there you want to take Wet tyres unless you have a single Wet/Sprint and at least one Dry/Long between you and the next service stop. Oh and Monte Carlo I prefer winter tyres cuz I'm bad, but I know the fastest drivers use Softs there and spend time learning how to handle on the snow with them.

Even there I would be tempted to take Wet just because I (personally) suck with soft in the rain, but the time you make up for it on the dry stage is worth it once you figure out how to handle rain. If it's 2x dry, 1x wet between service I will almost always take Softs.

For everything else just pick Softs. Soft tyres are >= Mediums until around stage 5/6, and really don't lose any noticeable advantage until around stage 8. So until you are in a custom championship/club where you are going for 6+ stages without a service stop, just take Softs.

put the whole entries around the world in literally one stage at the same time to race each other (which i called it an intelligence suggestion)

So everyone across the world has the same exact 15/30 minute time window to do their race? That sounds like you're going to have 80% of potential drivers not even race then

    43 minutes ago, stcooza said:

add a new hiding degradation level, disallowed in-game, activated in-(qualifiers\finals) stages, for example

This would only hurt the 99% and not even bother the top 1% of drivers. The top 1% literally do not care conditions/degradation/etc - they are still faster than us with any stage settings than we can be, so making everyone go in "blind" isn't actually fair. The only people who are "blind" then are the drivers who can't drive hours every day. The ones who can will be unaffected and actually probably gain an advantage over the other drivers. The top drivers already know basically every stage without the practice, so not allowing them to practice has a much smaller impact than not allowing the "normal" drivers to practice will.

Do anyone know of a free program thats easy to understand to edit movies? All thats needed is that i can cut parts of different clips into one long. Its for bug reporting in dr2 so i hope its ok asking here.

well if you have VLC installed already, you can use that to just stitch clips together and output a single file. Here is a quick article that touches on it, but the process is super quick & easy - but it is also extremely basic

    https://www.techwalla.com/articles/how-to-use-vlc-to-combine-two-clips

Not the best solution by any means, but this is probably the "lightest" solution since a lot of people have VLC already so you wont even need to install anything.

using bonnet cam, which is just as arcadey

This always bothers me. Bonnet cam is no more or less arcadey than cockpit. It 100% depends on where you monitor is located compared to your seat position. If your monitor is in a position that bonnet cam makes logical sense for it to be used, I would argue it's more arcadey to force a cockpit cam instead since the references would all be off.

Also for the record, i don't believe drivers will be allowed to make any hardware adjustments in the finals. Everyone will be running the same FFB/DoR/game settings on the same hardware, which we can assume will be 540°

I don't know why using 360° is unfair to anyone.

People also want to act like 360° is so much less than 540° - it's literally a quarter of a turn difference in either direction. That's it. It's the difference of full lock right stopping at 6 or stopping at 9 on a clock face. Is it different? Yes. Is it dramatically different? Almost negligible for the actual turning input, the entire reason to run it low is to make paddle shifting easier.

If you had a static paddle that was attached to the base instead of the wheel (very rare in sim wheel setups) it would literally make zero difference then and be 100% user preference.

Wow PC is a lot more competitive than the consoles, especially Xbox doesn't even come close.

It's almost like someone called this exact scenario for the finals and why they've been saying the semi's will be the best battles...

In the standard FIA points the winner gets 25 points, seven more than second. Codies' points scoring system, having less gap between the different positions, is way less demanding in terms of results. For example, in the FIA system you get half the points of the winner when you come fourth (12 points). With Codies' scores, that happens when you arrive seventh (14 points)

Honestly I prefer this style system for clubs and stuff. Tighter points keep the battles closer and you don't have one person running away with the championship by the end of the 3rd event.
