I agree with most the guys said. It's an absolute blast and you can get the base game and every single DLC released so far for half the price, so I'd say: Go for it. You can also try it for free and decide whether you like it or not.

This is going to be fun. Can't wait ^^

Peugeot 205 T16 Rallycross & Ford RS200 Evolution - Available now in DiRT Rally 2.0
richie replied to PJTierney's topic in DiRT Rally 2.0
@PJTierney I've only just seen this so I guess I'm a bit late. I use to pick the RS200 but I wouldn't say I have a setup for it. I just moved a few sliders randomly back and forth ^^ Works for me at least (kind of). Nothing that you couldn't figure out yourself. though. If you want I can share it. I think in these cars the most important thing is the gearing. You need to make sure that you stay in the right RPM range when accelerating out of the corners because otherwise - as you surely know - it takes approximately 100 years to get that turbo spooling. ...and yes, it needs more power. ^^ -
The Confusing Car Name Thread: S1/E2, 22B/WRC etc…
richie replied to tbtstt's topic in DiRT Rally 2.0
Just checked the german version of the Wikipedia article about the Audi Sport Quattro and it seems they actually got it right. Even the Pikes Peak version is described as E2. I just wanted to check as Gran Turismo tweeted pics of that car and they just called it 'S1' and I went to spread the knowledge -

That onboard is even better than the famous video with Samir!

Btw, how did the Legacy RS not make it into the video?
-
I hope there's plenty of fog! ^^

Great stuff! Though, somehow this announcement makes me a bit sad as it comes across like a 'goodbye pack'. I'm not sure if a year 2 program can be ruled out at this point but I think many people were speculating on something like that, and I think if there was such thing this would've been the perfect moment to announce it. Nonetheless, this is still awesome news, and the fact that it's for FREE for season owners makes it even sweeter. No need to thank us, Codies. We thank you for the amazing rally experience that Dirt Rally 2.0 has been so far! ^^

That was a scary crash indeed from Tänak. I'm glad they're both ok. -

That's a classical straw man argument. If you read back you will notice that nobody's denying the 'foggy' atmosphere. Codies have spoken, in order to maintain a certain performance across all platforms they had to make compromises, so it looks like by bringing this topic up again and again you're not going to change the situation, and the nonsense and hyperbole aren't adding anything to the discussion. They're only making it worse for us players for future communication. Please explain again why I should stop arguing now because I'm not getting it. Not sure if you noticed (apparently not) but I'm not defending anything. Great, now that it's clear that consoles are the reason for the graphics compromises let the lynching begin. -

I don't think so. I'm on console and PJ confirmed that Finland seems to be toned down for everyone, and still I have seen plenty of replays showing clear skies and roads without fog. What deserves more attention is twisting things and misrepresentation of 'facts'. -

Reality? I posted a picture that shows you what's also reality in the game. The guy above asked for daytime/clear as seen in the RL picture, of course insinuating there's no such thing in the Finland rally DLC. I posted a picture that shows you how daytime/clear can look like at Finland. I had taken more pictures of that run, not sure if I still have them. No fog, beautiful clear weather, no tricks, no photoshop. That is also part of reality. -

There's no crest, right behind the car there's a left hander leading to a hairpin. You can see the forest far back in the distance, no fog. The sky's clear, sun is shining, weather is sweet 🎶 ^^ -

Finland, daytime/clear. Looks pretty realistic to me. Fog/smoke/mist/whateveryouwannacallit is not everywhere. This was clarified ages ago, still some people insinuate there's fog everywhere, all the time. smh -

I wasn't referring to PJ as he obviously is one of the most active people on the forums, but there's almost no communication or interaction with devs, which in my view has very much to do with the toxic and unreasonable way to deal with issues that people well may have with the game. I think that's a fair point, nothing was suggesting that the foggy graphics would be the only option we'd have. Wouldn't you have bought it nonetheless because the video was fine and it actually seemed to be a lot of fun? Are the foggy graphics really a reason to shelve it? I don't think so. I'm not Codies' lawyer but attacking people (not referring to you) because they do not agree on the infinite drama is really something else. Finland is not broken, it's not unplayable and nobody has to suffer during the stages. Even the guys in the Forums Club are wondering why they should skip daytime stages because there's absolutely no reason to do so. As I said above, I would rather have the clear weather than the bushfire graphics, but it really doesn't take the fun away at all. The drama is so exaggerated. I started to chime in as it really became kind of aggressive and manipulative. Absolutely mind boggling. -

Ok so you want to ignore the video and keep repeating they lied to you. They omitted the fog, you had no idea how Finland was going to look like. Fine. With that kind of attitude it's no wonder communication with devs and other Codies staff is at a minimum and you guys are actually ruining it for everyone here. Congratulations. -

Sure, just screw all of the other guys who aren't lucky enough to own a One X or a PS4 Pro. Who cares, right? Ironic that you want to talk about 'integrity'. The fact that Codies released a video with the exact same graphics we have still hasn't changed since the last heated 'discussion' here, so there was no lie. Repeating the same nonsense again and again doesn't make it suddenly true. Would I prefer having the same clear weather without the mist? Absolutely. Is it UNPLAYABLE (!!!!!!!)? Absolutely not, on the contrary. It's still very enjoyable, nonetheless, and an absolute blast. The wording and exaggerations are so disproportionate, it almost hurts. Definitely next level. -
The Lamborghini PR discussion has nothing to do with conspiracy theories, though.

The guy's asking for advice because he doesn't know what he's doing wrong and you guys are like: JUST FLOOR IT!
-
Maybe consider getting a wheel, I highly recommend it, it'll be a game changer. Just recently the Logitech G29/G920 + shifter was €150, which is a crazy price, so keep an eye on these offers. I find it difficult to give advice because it's not clear why you're struggling. In general I'd say: Practice, practice, practice. What also helps is watching faster people and see how they drive, what they do and try to replicate that. Don't push too much, take it easy and start pushing more as you get more confidence and comfortable with the car.
-
Absolutely agree, and It'd be a nice little sentence as a signature in the profile here on the forums: 'Sometimes you have to slow down to go a little faster.'

The thing is, you can't rely 100% on potential sales, and Codies (or any other company in the business) can't afford to show some pattern or predictability when it comes to sales strategy, because people would react accordingly and not buy anything anymore at launch. It's nice that you kept criticism constructive and I kind of understand that you're a bit disappointed, but keeping it civil and constructive should go without saying and you can't really expect something back for that. I very rarely touch any career mode in racing games so I'm not sure how it works, but would you be able to transfer your progress to the newly bought game if you were to decide to buy the discounted super deluxe edition? Honestly, even if I lost all progress I'd buy the game again with all the DLC if it cost less than S3+S4 bundle.
