What's with the fog/smog in Finland (and Germany)?

I'm not trolling but Mr. @HoksuHoo is really begging me to come here comment. I don't mind him taking a screenshot every single time he spots some haze/mist/whatever and post it on the forums. I'll just keep wondering why 3 or 5 mentions are not enough. What was the weather description saying in the daily btw? -

Beautiful. It just adds to the atmosphere. Now go and like and agree, you know who you are ^^ -
RX is definitely a contact motorsport, paint swapping and driving with your elbows out is not considered as dirty driving so when investigating an incident the outcome has to be crucial for the stewards' judgement. That's why Hansen's 'move' didn't have any consequences. It would've been 100% a penalty if Bakkerud had lost his position and Hansen had flown past, but it was almost game over for him. He was so lucky to win in the end. Can't wait to try the new RX track ^^

It's getting better and better. The guy who attacked another guy for telling him that the mist is fine and adds to the atmosphere and also dismissed his opinion as not even being a proper opinion now tells me I'm dictating people what to post. Ironic. Btw that's not even true. I understand that you want to defend now but this is just ridiculous. Anyway, I don't want this thread to be closed, so I'm out. @Murikka Btw good that you got that out of your chest now but I'm not sure what this has to do with this issue. I'm not downplaying anything here (just as I didn't want to downplay your issue with the Escort at Sweden, I honestly thought it was setup related). I've not denied the mist although it is no issue for me. My point was something different. -

I'm not denying the evidence, the mist is there but it's not everywhere. I don't think it's tragic and I don't think it's extremely unrealistic. -

Fact is that a video with @EvansR5 driving the garbage out of that car was published along with the shiny promotional pics. So, it's not like Codies have applied some shady tactics promoting Potemkin villages as you're insinuating all the time. The graphics were the same as those we have now. Not sure why you're surprised. Oh, and the one who's whining all the time about an 'issue' that I didn't even notice, is you. Weather options is another story, there you actually would have a point but instead you drive that exaggerated drama train. -

Yeah, it's so tragic that I didn't even notice at first. Is this some kind of 'drama train' people just jumped on? -
Wow, that's not the reaction you'd expect from a world champion. What the...

No, the main problem is that you start attacking people who disagree with you and that you don't seem to understand that promo pics always look better. Anyway, I suggest you open a thread where you can bring this up one more time, quite a few people will love it, I promise. The massive fog is terrible, we're all doomed! -

There's a difference between defending and rejecting your dramatizing descriptions. It's not all the time as misty as those selective pictures, that's why I posted a pic that shows no misty areas, and I have a few more if it's not enough. -------------- Yes, the promotion pics are more colourful, clearer and show a different time of day somehow. @HoksuHoo As I said, you can't blame them. Promotion pics always look better, even on frozen pizzas. Absolutely over-dramatizing for what? For likes and lolz? Up to the point that you start attacking other people because in their mind it's not as bad as people say. The pic you posted above is totally acceptable, at least to me. It doesn't take the fun away at all. No reason to bring this up dozens of times in multiple threads in my view. -

Ok but it isn't really fog what we have in the game, is it? It's more like a layer of mist in the air. Did you notice it immediately? I honestly didn't. I first thought people were talking about dailies where it was exaggerated with zero visibility. As I said above, not all spots look as misty as the screenshot HoksuHoo took. It depends on distance and visibility. You can't look that far in the distance on the promotion screenshot, that's why there's no such effect, just as in this screenshot --> I'm all for constructive criticism and if people have a point it's totally legit, but I can't support such manipulative and selective nonsense. Also, you can't blame a company for taking a beautiful picture to promote your product, can you? Let's keep it fair. -
No, it's not strange at all. If a driver gets an advantage out of an incident is a key factor.

As I said above, having mist in the air in areas with lots of lakes and rivers is absolutely normal. It really isn't that bad at all in my view, I didn't even notice until you kept posting the same thing again and again. There are areas where there's no mist in the air in the game, so your 'promotion screenshot argument' is not valid, but it gets you a lot of likes, doesn't it? ^^ -

So, there's no fog in areas with lakes and rivers in Finland. Interesting. Must be unique in the world then. Edit: Also, for a good comparison you should take a screenshot of the same spot as the one seen on the promotion picture. There are areas where there's no mist in the air. -
The difference is that in Canada Hansen pushed that car into the wall and kept going, he clearly took advantage. In South Africa Bakkerud touched the wall, yes, but he was able to continue while Hansen almost binned it completely, so I think you can't compare these incidents. I think direct advantage is a factor in the stewards' ruling decision making. Very unfortunate for Bakkerud, of course.

Honestly, initially I was busy driving and not crashing so I didn't even notice the fog, which isn't even proper fog but just a slight layer hanging in the air. I don't understand the 'promotion screenshot argument' either. Do you also call companies and complain that the pizza you just took out of the oven never looks like the one on the photo? Plus, in an area with a lot of lakes and rivers fog forming is absolutely natural. So, from a realism standpoint having heavy fog in the morning and a light fog layer hanging in the air in the afternoon is as close as it can get. Now, I don't know if this was intentional but it is what happens in real life. Just a few thoughts from another perspective. ------------------- Regarding the 307kph in the Lancia, it must be a bug as the speed increased as soon as the car got airborne. Before the jump the speed was fine at around 230kph. -
I think the reason why Hansen didn't get a penalty is that he didn't get a direct advantage out of that incident in contrast to the videos posted above, so I don't think the stewards' decision here is inconsistent with their ruling compared to past incidents in my view.

It was fun while it lasted. Not sure why people decided to spoil it.

I thought it was geographically incorrect. Wikipedia says Finland once was part of Sweden, therefore finnish people often want that distinction, so it's not necessarily political but cultural. WikiTravel says Finland is part of Scandinavian countries, so it looks like I was wrong. Geographically Finland belongs to Scandinavia, I bet finns hate this #dealwithit ()
