  1. I'm struggling to find any reason to play at present. Game has been so bad for so long there's no point. I reached 9,999 points and what did I get for it? Nothing. Why should I concern myself with getting back to that knowing it doesn't unlock a new level or deliver some sort of reward. There are no adequate rewards in this game. Just repetition and a card collecting system that never delivers what it leads you to believe it will deliver - a faster, more competitive car.

    Grid Start in F1 Mobile

I am ready to concede defeat. F1 Mobile is not fun. I am however convinced that I am missing out on a world of challenging enjoyment and through being exposed to ads for Gardenscapes 30 times a day, this is going to be my new favourite game. Either that or the one with the creepy bald guy in red underpants who goes about clubbing people on the head. After all, I'm used to being clubbed on the head by Codemasters.

And to be honest, they're not even close to a solution to any of the issues that are plaguing gameplay at present. So a complete solution seems unthinkable. If they could fix just one thing, I'd be happy just to be fast off the line in Grid Starts. AI still needs to be more "I" and less "A" because they are not intelligent. Take the first chicane at Monza. They are like frightened sheep trying to all get through a paddock gate at once. It's just a roadblock. Is it not possible to code something that says "if car A is in front of car B, car B shall fall in behind car A" Hell, I learnt that when I first drove a car. The instructor didn't say "just ram the ******* if he's in your way"

Nice idea, but if they can't stop their bots from acting like sharks in a feeding frenzy, something as sophisticated as this is still years away. And still, even if I was on pole, every other car gets a slingshot, rocket propelled start while I struggle to accelerate. So, still in 12th within 15 seconds.
  5. Safety rating is meaningless. I can get a safety rating of 5 by crashing into the wall at the start of any race, 4 or 5 times in succession. But it can quickly drop into the red if I'm hit by AI opponents. Yep, that is the games algorithm for deciding how safe you are. The whole rating system is a failure. It should only apply to corner cutting. Contact with other cars is inevitable and should not be punished.

Who would have the motive to sabotage F1? It's obvious! Those "save the whales" type, anti-fossil fuel nuts over at Formula E. They want to launch their own "sewing machines on wheels" competition.

I wish they would just reinstate Version 1. The safety rating system is a failure when you have killbot cars on the track whose sole purpose is your destruction. My memory of first playing was that you could race against bots. They allowed you to overtake them safely if you chose the right time to do so. They drove in straight, predictable lines instead of behaving like moving concrete barriers.

The local data update occurred on iOS for me, but has not helped. In fact car handling seems odd to make matters worse. With a PI of near 1500 I'm still the slowest car on any track. Guaranteed 12th place in grid or sprint or losses in qualifying with all red sectors, despite setting personal lap records. So, I'm faster than I've ever been, which previously got me to 9,999, but now I'm losing almost every race. With a faster car. Explain that Codemasters. Tell me why I should keep playing.

    this is ridiculous

New update has made handling seem very fragile. It's like learning to drive a different car. It doesn't feel familiar.

No Chris it has not worked. Please read my post in "Straight Line Speed"

I can confirm the update has achieved nothing. I don't think you know the damage you are doing Codemasters. When this game began, I enjoyed it so much that it became the first game with "in-app purchases" where I was happy to spend money. If it still functioned as it did upon release I would still be spending money. But now? Not a chance. So think about that. How much money are you losing by doggedly sticking to the current game model? Go back to version 1 where F1 Mobile was fun to play. Because the way it's going, I'm leaving and taking my money with me.

I think they got caught in a coding black hole when they introduced the safety rating system. It must now be an interwoven element of game play that has had unintended consequences. I suspect they could remove safety ratings and we'd have the kind of racing that made version 1 enjoyable to play. Although their motives in making AI cars so insanely aggressive is baffling and has no correlation to real F1 racing. And this is supposed to be the "Official" F1 game.

    suzuka event

My personal best time at Suzuka is ridiculous! I can't do times like that. The timing is screwed up.

    Grid Start in F1 Mobile

Do those of you who were playing when it was version 1 remember that the biggest worry of getting a perfect start from the grid was that you risked crashing into the car in front?

What to do later in the game

There is a very realistic F1 game for ios called Monoposto. Practice sessions, qualifying, then 50 lap races with pit stops, choices of tyres, change set-ups for downforce or speed and wet and dry races. The tracks are wide allowing room to overtake and the bots drive like actual cars. The full version is only $3 or something and would be a good model for F1 Mobile to follow. The major drawbacks to it are the tracks are not official and it doesn't take long to finish a Championship, then you delete it.

I started playing V1 soon after release and only hit 9,999 a few weeks ago. Luckily most of those points were scored in V1, because if I'd been in League 6 or 7 I'd be back at 8 by now, having lost 1,500 trophies since the additional V3 local data updates.

    suzuka event

Yes! It gives everybody the impression that if they buy more R&D points, they will have a faster car. Post ridiculous times and let the players think they can achieve those times if their car was more powerful.

    Grid Start in F1 Mobile

So Chris tells us AI speed "has become too fast for some players"... Is he suggesting, again! that some of us don't have this problem, that it's a problem only affecting a few. Additionally, he has made no referral to the deranged behaviour of the AI cars. So are we to expect an update that has us competitive with AI, but will see us in the midst of their chaotic and aggressive driving?

    Grid Start in F1 Mobile

I'd be interested to hear which issues can be fixed immediately and if so, why are they not being fixed immediately. Secondly, it would ease the frustrations of all players to know which issues are near-impossible to fix. We could then make informed decisions about whether we choose to spend more money on a game that you admit has an inbuilt fatal flaw. Just saying the process is complex suggests that you are all scrambling to find answers and that like Brexit, you are frankly out of ideas, despite working around the clock.
  20. I've been persevering for some reason and within a few days have gone from a stable 9,999 trophies (minus 100 at times) to 8,500. After collecting my Suzuka rewards, my car is setting constant new best lap times, but I'm still the slowest car on the track in all race modes. I am most likely to come last or DNF due to being taken out by AI. I keep informing support but all I get is "Thank you. I will pass it on to our development team"
  21. Dr Zaius

    this is ridiculous

Yes, Sochi has become difficult. Used to be one circuit I could do at 99% full throttle and being accustomed to the track (having driven it hundreds of times) I keep losing it in that same spot where I never had a problem before. Singapore is the same. Had it mastered until update, now the handling is ruined and there are two corners I just can't negotiate.

How can you be unaware of such issues? Don't you have one spare staff member to log on as a public user and play the game? How is it you release a version as a 'gold master' and then act surprised that it's buggy? I am baffled that your quality control seems to be non-existent. It has been months now that every player of this game has repeatedly drawn attention to the totally inadequate performance of their cars in a Grid Start, but nothing is done.... it's ignored to the point where it seems this is now a fixture of the game. From version 1, nothing you have done or said gives me any confidence you either have a plan to make this game enjoyable again or it is, as I fear, a deliberate agenda to move the goalposts from a racing to a card collecting game, giving the illusion that more blueprints equal faster cars. And newcomers to the game will pay because you can't level up by racing. Meanwhile those of us who recall V1 will have abandoned you, leaving only reviews warning others not to buy into this sham.

    Latest update

I can safely say the recent local data update has screwed up everything worse than it was with the initial V3 release, which I didn't think possible. I was holding steady with 9,999 trophies and a PI of over 1400, but now, in every race mode, grid, sprint and qualifying, every car.... I mean literally every single competitor is way faster than me. I have dropped over 500 trophies in two days and can't even collect more than two blueprints a day. Does Codemasters want to drive players away? Because a game should be fun and challenging. This is neither. It is not at all enjoyable to play and there is no challenge when you lose because you simply don't stand a chance of winning. So, what is their strategy? I don't think it's bugs in the coding ...they've done this to slow the progress of all drivers. Keep us busy collecting 60 common steering wheel parts we don't need... get frustrated and buy expensive resource packs, hoping for that elusive epic part we need. I'm afraid the accountants have taken over the game.

I foolishly thought an "official" car might improve my chances. A new Mercedes and it's still the slowest car in any grid start. Why do I think giving Codemasters my money will help me win?
