  1. The host always gets it.. Having the host be a driver is very unfair at this point. Another detail: it looks like most of the times.. as the lights go out for the host/commentator, that's when they only start to come on for the rest. Because watching the clips i see a trend of the drivers not even starting to rev before the lights are already out for a while for spectators. When the host is a driver the difference is less obvious.. but still a couple of tenths to about a second in my experience.
  2. A detailed description of the issue. Zones enters the pits (in hanoi but that doesn't matter i think), clearly is below 60 kph as he turns on the pit limiter, and yet the car accelerates to 60. (After the line by the way.. your pitlanes start when the center of your car crosses the line which is weird) resulting in a penalty for him. I've heard the pit limiter doesn't work well in gear 3 but it should. How to find this is in Main Menu > Game Options > Settings > 16 digit code in the bottom left of the screen. Please make sure that this is the code from the session you had the issue in. Adding report codes from as many users in your session as possible would be really helpful here.     Multiplayer - TO DO LIST!

    Below is a list of the most glaring issues with multiplayer on PC as of this patch, things that need to be fixed ASAP. We're very hesitant restarting the league with how the game is now. These issues have all been reported somewhere else so I'm not going in too much detail. I just want to make a useful shortlist with the most game-breaking ones. Feel free to tell me where I've forgotten some so I can add them. These points are in no particular order; All of them are game-breaking to a degree. 1. The host often gets released earlier at the start. https://streamable.com/dbjv2l 2. Session times in quali are not synced. This means it can happen that people are starting their hotlaps with ai'ing cars that are 'done' in front of them. Spectators get the wrong info as well. https://clips.twitch.tv/GeniusMistyDogePeteZarollTie 3. Safety car contact penalties are ridiculous and even occur when there's no contact. And given to the person that was not at fault. (We need an option to turn off contact penalties altogether. we do this) https://streamable.com/fw9pz4 4. Players throttle gets arbitrarily controlled on restart. Even when you're not close to the s.c. This leads to dangerous situations and has no place online. https://streamable.com/1t3qxk 5. Game often crashes when selecting multiplayer car in lobby (In whatever dx mode) 6. People can get passed very briefly making the game forget the correct order behind SC. Communicating with online services in your face, And screen freezes associated with it. 8. Open lobbies filling up with unkickable 'ghosts' stopping new people from joining. 9. Sector 2 times are still not transmitted leading to a purple sector 2 very often (cause the fastest lap the game compares to has no sector 2 time. you can sometimes see this in the pits as well as in the telemetry) 12. Tire data often wrong for spectators (both in terms of laps done as well as the compound they're on) 13. Stability issues in general. There's a lot of instability while driving, screen freeze wise, and you can see it happening to people driving around you all the time as well. 14. The game still changes tire strategy at its own leisure. 15. Delta times/positions are often scrambled in the first 3 laps of the race, with lap 2 being the most glitched one of all. My guess is this has something to do with the formation lap as it usually doesn't happen in 5 lappers. Honorable mentions: -Ghosted cars not ghosting in mirror. -We still don't have penalties as spectators (and for the love of god why not?) -Game doesn't always realize when track limit warnings are because of contact/side by side racing. All too often the choice is either contact or a warning. and this just shouldn't be the case. Going off track to avoid contact should be lauded not punished. Especially going wide on exit when given no space. OR Give your stewards the tools to alter stuff like that on the fly. -In league mode we would have the ability to have reserve drivers score for the team but not for the driver they replace. Scoring for the driver they replace is unfair... (This is the one thing kinda stopping us from trying our league in league mode this time around) -We need the ability for spectators to summon that new, cool, pit strategy graphic at will So, this is what's at the top of my mind. the more important things (well.. the honorable mentions are mainly repetitions of stuff i just feel we finally should get heeded on.) If you have any more feel free to post them and i'll add them. I've tried to keep minor annoyances out of here and just keep it to the big things that affect race after race after race. @BarryBL I heard you like lists. If you need any more info/video's I would happily oblige. These are just the points that I feel affect almost every race or every open lobby.

    @BarryBL I'm glad you like my post but we're more than a month on now. Which of these issues are nearing a fix? The people in the leagues I drive in are once again getting more and more disgruntled at the state of the game. and the lack of fixes. For example: Can you please explain to me WHY, for 3 games in a row now, sector 2's are almost always purple? Is it too HARD to fix? (and why do sectors 1 and 3 usually work then?) or is it just not an issue to you? Purple... green... red... just colors? Doesn't really matter if the timings work as long as there's something resembling times on screen? I'm genuinely curious because, to me, this seems like it should be one of the easiest things to fix, gets noticed by everyone who plays online as one of the first things. yet you guys don't bother. (But do bother to add new assists to the game though and the stupid pitcoins... noone wants pitcoins.. we want a working game. pitcoins is what you add if your game is working so well you don't know what else to do with your time.. and improving the game doesn't lead to more sales cause it's already so good. not when your game is broken AF and now gets even more broken cause your priorities were wrong) Are we going to see the end of screen freezes as people join/leave the session any time soon? Are gonna see the end of that horrible first few laps standings chaos? The start light issues? And are you going to make a 'known issues' topic like long ago you said you would, so people don't have to report things over and over and over again? and we can visually SEE of which issues you are aware? (If you want i can help you with this) Also what would be very nice: A developer diary where one of the devs can explain why it is so hard to fix the game.. which are the biggest issues.. etc etc Cause all we see is them asking us NOW (in september... 2 months after launch) to report things that we've already reported in the beta and the last game. And you don't have to be a genius to see how that comes across.... (hint: like you're just wasting our time and try to look like you're doing stuff while really waiting for the time you can say we're working on the new game now so be hyped peasants) Dont just PR the good stuff... that just reflects very bad on you as a company for everyone who knows it's not all sunshine in paradise. Anyway I hope for everyone that you get these issues fixed before the e-sports starts (not via lan this time I've heard) Must say the state this game is in the time between patches and hotfixes and such is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too long. So I really hope you're working on 'the big one' now that breaks all career saves cause it's such an impactful update that finally makes the game work.. once again 'a man can dream' And please answer my question regarding the sector 2 timings... as said i'm genuinly curious why this is so hard to fix, or why this is so low on the list.   5. This game has countless issues and it is hard to know where to start most of the time. The thing that came up after our latest league race however quite often, were the screenfreezes people get when others join or leave the session. Don't think any more explanations are needed. everybody playing this game online knows what i'm talking about here. It's been reported time and time again too, but to no avail, so i'll just try again. (This issue gets made worse by the fact that steam is a very unstable platform and people suffer disconnects from it (while their internet being totally fine) quite frequently.) Half of this problem would already be fixed if people didn't have to reconnect so often. Although this issue obviously also exists to a way worse degree in open lobbies and ranked. but that's slightly less annoying cause who cares about those. Important note: it doesn't always happen for everyone at the same time or as much (sometimes the stutter is barely noticable) But often when someone joins the session at the same time you see the car ahead of you glitch back a bit, or yourself have a stutter and be a bit further behind. It's like the simulation just stops until there is a p2p connection with the new guy and the longer that takes the longer the freeze but i don't really know much about this stuff. just that it's rather consistently bad. By following these steps: Be in a session and have a stable fps, have someone join said session and notice the stutter. How do you make the problem happen? How do you not fix this problem iteration after iteration? Can you add a report code. How to find this is in Main Menu > Game Options > Settings > 16 digit code in the bottom left of the screen. Please make sure that this is the code from the session you had the issue in. Adding report codes from as many users in your session as possible would be really helpful here. I think any report code of anyone that ever played online would suffice here. Video of the issue, including timestamps. Did you stream the session? Everyone knows what a screenfreeze looks like and it's not really spectacular. IF this is unfixable without more footage of a screenfreeze i'd happily oblige though. Together with the timing issues (after disconnect) standing issues in lap 2, start light issues and tyre info issues for spectators, This belongs in that top priority list. It is VEEEEEEEEEERY unfun if you're in the drs train and you get the worse end of the screenfreeze as someone joins or leaves and the car behind you then instantly goes for it (as you would) it's also VEEEEEEEEERY unfun if this happens during quali. It's time, gentlemen, that this gets fixed. Today or tomorrow. And if it's the stupid p2p that's causing this. then this is THE best reason why we need to stop using that. and start using dedicated servers like every self respecting racing game does.
  6. So Rwaggy got a drive through during a VSC. totally deserved. He then goes ahead to serve his drive through penalty, and the lap after he wants to come into the pits. Easy to imagine everyone's confusion when he had to serve another drive through, and the lap after another one! The game didn't SAY he had to do it.. so it was flagged of as 'served' on that end. Just to rwaggy as far as we could see. and no one else started yelling indignified so let's assume he was the only one this race. We need to be able to make your problem happen internally so we can fix the issue. Can you make the problem happen again? So far haven't been able to no. but it's hard to force a s.c. and these things tend to work out differently if you test with 1 other person. How do you make the problem happen? LOL how do YOU make these problems happen? Very interesting choice of words from a company that indeed uses their loyal buyers as beta testers. But I can't stress enough how it is YOUR problem and YOUR job to fix it. Can you add a report code.   7. Must say i'm baffled that you guys don't seem to be able to replicate this. Maybe use normal pc's and normal internet like everyone uses for testing and this issue should happen almost every race. A detailed description of what's happened Host always gets lights out earlier. For the rest it's inconsistent at best. AI cars during the start (desyncs.. disconects) are always a LOT earlier than the lights go out. Furthermore while spectating the lights going out don't seem to correspond with the lights going out for the drivers.. (Usually the lights go out.. (at which time any ai on the grid goes) and then some time later the drivers can actually start driving. Wireless and wired. it's NOT the connection it's the game. The amount of players in your session? I've seen it happen with 2 and with 20 Were you the host? The host ALWAYS has this happen. but even letting the commentators be the host gives random results for the rest (although it's fine as often as not) Did this issue happens for everyone in the session, just some people or just yourself? What did they see? Well since we don't know when the 'actual' lights out time is there is no way of telling if there was someone in the lobby with no glitch. We need to be able to make your problem happen internally so we can fix the issue. Can you make the problem happen again? Just play the game ❤️ it happens almost every race. ALWAYS to the host. How do you make the problem happen? By buying your game and playing it. Can you add a report code. How to find this is in Main Menu > Game Options > Settings > 16 digit code in the bottom left of the screen. Please make sure that this is the code from the session you had the issue in. Adding report codes from as many users in your session as possible would be really helpful here. For the first video i've already send report codes from 5 people including rwaggy. but this litteraly happens every race so... go race with the devs, confirm this is a thing, and write down your own report codes. or hire some actual testers. You release games in shameful states. VIDEO'S So we've had 3 league races in the league I organise so far. I will give you the video's of the starts of those 3 races. This time Brook Legg got disconnected during the formation lap and is thus ai at this time. You can once again see his ai try to go as soon as the lights go out. and even reverse on grid when that doesn't work.. I can show you more video's of other commentated leagues but i think you get the general idea. It's always bad. We have to have the commentator be the host or the host gets a HUGE start advantage. But this still looks very trash. I hope this helps and please FIX.

    We're more than a month in now, most leagues have given you a lot of time to get the game in a streamable state before all hell breaks loose on track again, but I think it's safe to conclude that as it stands, what we got is a huge step back from what we had in f1 2019, as far as that is possible. In 8 days the league I organize myself kicks off as well, and I'm praying we get a very substantial patch before then. Not only are there countless glitches on the driving side, which have been discussed in a lot of topics already, but from a commentators/information perspective things are really, really bad: - Delta's are all over the place, glitch around near the sector points, are totally unreliable. - Above leads to 1 commentator seeing a person get drs and the other one doesn't. And it isn't a far stretch to think that you get messed up like that equally while driving. - Lap 2 for spectators always sees the DRS enabled prompt, as well as the entire standings and delta's being scrambled. How did this get passed testing? - Information on tires is SUPER unreliable. laps don't update, wrong compounds are displayed, and people end with 48 laps on their tires after pitting on lap 9 in a 22 lap race. (they did 13 laps. we just get lied to) - The host has a huge advantage at the start. This can be omitted by having one of the streamers be the host but can cause problems for some leagues. - Race director tire info is wrong too, making it useless to see after the fact what exactly happened. - You have allowed us to use hotkeys to switch between drivers (thank you!) but the first press of shift opens the steam overlay which is unfortunate hotkey choice. (And now we can't turn of said overlay cause we can't invite people to lobbies anymore) - Sometimes using said hotkeys for drivers in p10+ (E.G: p12) will after releasing the keys switch back to the non-shift-number instead (E.G. p2) and multiple tries might be required. - There can still be a very sizable delay in the start lights going off and everybody actually getting away, even when the streamer is the host. - THERE ARE STILL NO PENALTIES VISIBLE FOR SPECTATORS AND FOR THE LOVE OF GOD GET TO IT. THEY DECIDE ALMOST EVERY RACE. These are just spectator/commentator things. Some are just annoyances (having to try a bit too hard to use the hotkeys) Some are absolutely unacceptable (this lap 2 standings, drs enabled, and delta chaos.. as well as the tire info being so wrong) and are just a show of real incompetence and misplaced priorities. I can remember vividly how @BarryBL said how Multiplayer was a big priority this time around and they would try to make it something worth wearing the proud F1 brand, But so far improvements are few and far between and other issues got worsened or even introduced. Here's to me hoping you are working very, very hard on these issues. Multiplayer is a joke as it stands and you must be aware this can't go on like this. If you weren't, at least by this writing I hope to make you aware. The driving is a lot of fun in F1 2020. A huge step forward. But the game is let down TREMENDOUSLY by lack of polish and refinement. F1 2020 just has all the markings of a rushed game, that didn't get properly tested, The beta wasn't even completed by the time the game released, and it didn't have a lot of the issues that we are experiencing now. And don't ever come with the excuse how hard it is to make a game every year because that is YOUR choice. either hire more (competent) people or just have the core game FIXED and release dlc's every year. The way it's going now we get an unsatisfying mess of a game year in year out. Every one buggier than the last. F1 2020 has already crashed more times than ALL the other games I've ever played on my pc combined, bar f1 2019. Yet you keep adding new stuff (that barely works on its own) all while streamers can't commentate a race without apologizing for the nonsense they and the viewers see on-screen half (if not more) of the time. So as ever, I hope we can get an update on how it stands with regard to these issues. Are they getting fixed? Will we be seeing a patch in the next 8 days? are we gonna have to start thinking of ways to work around these issues where possible? Many thanks already for the response.

In the last game, it would happen that the SPECTATORS thought the session was already over but for the drivers it wasn't yet, But this time around it can differ between drivers too. (probably people being tapped out at the start of the session/taking longer to load etc.. but not sure) Personally I think you should just be able to trust your game and don't think about glitches while doing quali... just be aware that it can happen.. For the sake of not getting in fights with people who did nothing wrong 😛 but also so you can be that bit more prepared when approaching ai cars. (As you can see in the video above.. if it happens at the wrong point you're helpless) But for this reason, it's indeed advisable to get your final hot lap in early.. Like.. END it just after the time went to 0.. instead of start it just before 🙂 it's that minute and a half where the carnage happens Note that this particular bug is super random, in that it doesn't always happen, and even if it does it doesn't always generate issues..

    That's a very specific use tho XD i think 99% of the time it would be useless screen clutter. Altho i agree as with most of these things: The option should be there. This game should be so much more customizable. Anything that is already in the game anyway should be able to be turned on or off. Heck, why can't we move around the interface in spectator mode anyway?

    Yes. There's a lot of bugs that affect drivers. Mainly concerning: -safety cars -penalties for contact/illegal overtakes -screenfreezes (e.g. when someone joins the lobby.. when the host retires..) -Desynced session times (It happens that you start your final hotlap in quali, while people in front of you already crossed the line with the quali being 'done' and so they are ai'ing in front of you) -Cars throttle getting controlled on s.c. restarts.. (e.g. you press it, nothing happens, then suddenly it gets released and you spin into the wall) -Situations where someone ghosts for someone else but still gets hit as the other drives 'through' him -game changing tire strats at its own leisure -Desync in the timings after forced reconnect. And that's just a few... This post was just mainly about the things that make the game a joke to stream for commentators. Things that are gonna be very noticeable in F1 e-sports when that starts again. Not in the least because for most other things there are already posts. In a game that's all about times, split seconds decisions and data in general, it's just ridiculous how bad it is and how they screwed it up so much. And as big as a promotion for your game as twitch can be these games, and this game being especially suited to have the races steamed and commentated... it's just so sad that what people will see now is wrong data and commentators apologizing for the game they're streaming. Mario kart on the snes had more polish than this.

    Well first off let the commentator host. Cause the host will get a huge advantage at the start (that is obvs very difficult to anticipate on) For the rest it's just... KNOWING when the game displays wrong info and that it often does. Like after the first lap the game will switch to L3, saying DRS enabled (when it isn't yet) and all the standings will be scrambled for a lap, no idea what's going on. A way around this is to get telemetry from someone in the race. (Via 3rd party software) to your second screen or something. Then at least you have the proper information (gaps, positions on lap 2, tires) at your disposal. But I agree. It's all very disturbing indeed.

    The way it works in f2 is: The fastest time in the top 10 (8?) gets the point This is different from f1 where: the fastest lap gets the point ONLY if he finishes in the top 10. Must say i don't really know if it works like this in rl (i suppose it does) but that's how it works in game
  15. I don't think you having exactly the same race, but the ai ahead of you having 30 seconds of penalties, is the answer. he should have just let you past. It's not like the fear of a penalty would convince the ai to adhere to the rules. it should try to do so regardless.
  16. Same. stutters become increasingly frequent. (Especially in online play) Some of it seems to be related with perpetual "communicating with online services" because it usually stutters (among other moments) right before that appears top left.

This absolutely needs to be fixed ASAP AND give us the option to STOP the game giving penalties for contact whatsoever. We do this ourselves. The game is very wrong as can be clearly seen. 15 seconds of pitstop penalties in 1 lap lol. Please guys i beg. give us the option to turn it off. for real. the game would become SO much better for it. Three weeks until our league starts (having given you more than enough time to get the game in reasonable state) but please we can't have this stupid stuff happen any longer. Let us turn off contact penalties. stuff like this kills the game. Stewarding is best done by people. facilitate that instead. It's a lot easier in the long run. This happens on the latest version. in multiplayer lobbies. Without fail when there's small contact during s.c. randomly blaming someone my troubleshooting so far has been to try to convince you guys of the necessity of options for us. and that the ability to turn off stupid **** like this REALLY should be at the top of the list. next to displaying the penalties for spectators. The ball is with you guys now. P.S. You can also very clearly see the safety car teleport back a few seconds before it says safety car in this lap.

If so, please include recreation steps on how you encountered this issue. All too often. Just be in p1 on the sc restart (sometimes you even get this while catching the pack... it's horrible) 5. How often do you see this problem? Is it the only time or does it always happen? All too often. I fear this is a 'feature' by the game that works very badly and shouldn't be in there to begin with. Especially not online. 6. Have you tried any troubleshooting? We recommend the steps here as a starting point for any issues. Please let us know what troubleshooting methods you have tried while creating this post. I'm troubleshooting right now. this needs fixing with a patch. 7. Any accessories you are using (gamepad, wheel etc) It happens on whatever device. 8. Any screenshots or video of the issue? If the video is long, please include a timestamp for when the issue appears. https://streamable.com/1t3qxk My 5 cents on this: As explained in the video.. this is just dangerous has no place in a game like this. Penalty happy as this game is. THIS is one of those points were a penalty would be sufficient... If you overtake the safety car before the pit entry line; You get a drive through. Absolutely no need to brute force players into obliging even though the safety car is well clear already. Let alone when you're trying to catch the pack and suddenly the game slows you down just like the people in the train.... People will apply more throttle than they ought because they get no response.. then suddenly the control comes back and peoples rears step out. it's just super dumb. Takes control away from the players, and should be an assist at best, but actually just removed from multiplayer entirely. best solution: Teach people how to do safety car restarts instead.... the way it is now people just keep driving behind it until they can go all too often...

Penalty happy as this game is. THIS is one of those points were a penalty would be sufficient... If you overtake the safety car before the pit entry line; You get a drive through. Absolutely no need to brute force players into obliging even though the safety car is well clear already. Let alone when you're trying to catch the pack and suddenly the game slows you down just like the people in the train.... People will apply more throttle than they ought because they get no response.. then suddenly the control comes back and peoples rears step out. it's just super dumb. Takes control away from the players, and should be an assist at best, but actually just removed from multiplayer entirely. best solution: Teach people how to do safety car restarts instead.... the way it is now people just keep driving behind it until they can go all too often...

This absolutely needs to be fixed ASAP AND give us the option to STOP the game giving penalties for contact whatsoever. We do this ourselves. The game is very wrong as can be clearly seen. 15 seconds of pitstop penalties in 1 lap lol. Please guys i beg. give us the option to turn it off. for real. the game would become SO much better for it. Three weeks until our league starts (having given you more than enough time to get the game in reasonable state) but please we can't have this stupid stuff happen any longer. Let us turn off contact penalties. stuff like this kills the game. Stewarding is best done by people. facilitate that instead. It's a lot easier in the long run. This happens on the latest version. in multiplayer lobbies. Without fail when there's small contact during s.c. randomly blaming someone my troubleshooting so far has been to try to convince you guys of the necessity of options for us. and that the ability to turn off stupid **** like this REALLY should be at the top of the list. next to displaying the penalties for spectators. But the joke of it all is that the correct translation of hard would be 'hard' But just like you would read a book in the original language cause it's just better and none of the linguistic beauty gets lost, I find the same is often true with games.   23. 1. A description of the issue: The same happened to us a few weeks ago but that stream has already been removed from twitch. But yesterday evening it happened again. What basically happens is that sometimes the car in p1 is allowed to overtake the safety car. the safety car then stops on track to catch the leader. (or drives even slower than normal). But other cars are NOT allowed to overtake the safety car. In our race a few weeks ago this resulted in the p1 driver getting a free lap and getting a blue flag on everyone after catching up to them again. (P1 overtook sc between T1 spa and eau rouge after pit lane) In our race yesterday as can be seen in the video below it resulted in half the grid getting disqualified. Because the SC was sitting still so by the time we got the illegal overtake message we had to reverse half the main straight to get behind the s.c. again. (P1 overtook sc between t1 and t2, safety car might have still been in the pitlane.. but definitely out of the pits. p1 got no message on what to do whatsoever. Biggest mystery is why the remaining cars did NOT get disqualified. And then just last week something kinda similar happened where the s.c. did not start moving until there was kind of a pileup behind. I don't know if this is related. You would need a full grid of people trying to recreate a certain situation. Most other cars get DSQ'd before they know what happened. (The S.C. is sitting still in the middle of the straight at that point so no one is expecting to have to wait for it.. we obviously thought the safety car failed to get the leader and was waiting.) Carnage ensues behind because noone expected the entire road to be blocked by a safety car and the entire top 3 sitting stationary on track. We don't know if P1 would have been allowed to drive on. This might have been a very similar glitch that just turned out differently. ----------------------- Which is also why these issues are so hard to replicate. And I think most of it is just p2p messiness that we'll never get our finger around until Codemasters stars taking their game seriously enough to start building a system around it with actual servers that the lobby is hosted on. that are worthy of a 0.001 second game. If we had a race director function in the lobby, Who could use something like the debug menu we used to have, to force out the safety car and just mess around with it. This would help us tremendously with trying out things way more efficiently. (And this race director in the lobby can also add-remove-correct-penalties during the race. Humans are better at that stuff than the game ever will) But the game is very sluggish to easily play around with and try things. especially for online. And there's not many settings so if stuff's broken we have to deal with the broken stuff even though we know it's broken. If the s.c. frequency in f1 2020 is anything like it is now this NEEDS fixing. We're all hoping you're gonna spend more time polishing this new one for once instead of adding more half-baked stuff. This build your own team is all fun and games for the career YouTubers but if no one but them actually wants to play the game because of all the bugs all that effort is just in vain.

    Olav mol should have stopped in his prime 20 years ago. I respect how well they managed to cover f1 on a budget with the broadcasters noit really taking it serious but his commentary stopped being bearable to listen to 20 years ago if it even was good before then but i was 8 so the hell do i know. If only 1 bug would have been fixed in the time it took to get olav mol in the game that would have been time better spent. 99% sure the script was flawless and he just said kilometers where he should have said meters. That guy talks more **** than martin brundle when he's drunk.

    well even if people don't set it to private you still can't get the setups through the UDP telemetry. *REDACTED* and we know that is not true. IT only works for AI cars/AI names. And seeing as my point was about other cars in multiplayer it was very much valid. Edit: I don't know how to fix this 😞
