  1. But that's the whole point, you need a real person for that. Because they would have to change the jeff for every AI level if you drive against ai, and have the jeff KNOW how fast you and everyone else are driving... With people who drive 2 seconds a lap slower, the loss in the pits will be 2 seconds less consequently.. I always make fun of jeff for talking so much trash but I don't really think they can ever make him actually smart. It's like asking siri what you should have for breakfast today.... she can only suggest what some funny guy at apple thought would be funny to include. Now i do feel we should be able to ask him specific questions ( PENALTY SITUATION FOR CAR BEHIND PLZ) and don't need to hear his last lap time and on what tires he is cause you followed him in and out of the pits... But having jeff actually be smart strategy-wise will not happen soon I think. More and more leagues are including jeffs in their rosters anyway. (and it's a good way to get more than 20 people involved in the racing ) And while i understand it might be hard to convince someone to coop career with you this way, The ai is just as smart as jeff strategy-wise and will outplay itself more often than not.

    With polish I mean when you actually go wow, they thought of this **** โค๏ธ I love this game. A good example was me playing overwatch the other day and finding out the piano's in the maps actually work and people can actually play excellent piano on them ๐Ÿ˜› With the f1 games I usually have the opposite, still Suzuka bump, wrong drs zones, rules not implemented correctly, no tire selection in f2 cars, and, indeed, 14:10, however, you set the time. I must say it's been a while since I actually noticed it being Monaco on every track, but then i always skip all the cutscenes because i've seen the same ones too many times over the past years. polish is not a word I would use when talking about the Codemasters f1 series. especially while talking about multiplayer XD F1 2019 is still in a state where it shouldn't even be released yet. And you're right most of these things are a step above of polish and SHOULD be in the game and working regardless. Polished means to me basically everything is WAD (however much you disagree with the design choices) and extra effort has been put in the little things like matching track maps and times, so people actually think OMG THEY DIDN'T HAVE TO DO THAT BUT THEY DID โค๏ธ IN f1 2019 a lot of things are NOT WAD and they keep using the same old cutscenes and textures and menus for years even when they depict another track/time. I call that a lack of polish ๐Ÿ™‚ The fact that it could have been even worse does not make it polished in my book.

    @UP100 you want to concur brah? ๐Ÿ˜› very polished much wow? Do I need to remind there's still drs zones missing from f1 2019? It's the little things where you see how serious a developer takes their work and how much love they have for what they do.

Bear in mind that the mfd ai has no real way of knowing how fast you will be.. and unless it changes the prediction depending on the skill of the ai and how fast you are driving (which it doesn't) it's gonna be a very rough guess anyway. (Not really directed at you this but it never ceases to amaze me how people can complain about stuff being inaccurate even though they are driving inconsistent as balls, one lap over a second faster than the other one, and still expect the game to make educated guesses.) If you use the telemetry software (on your 2nd screen or, better still, send it to someone else to jeff for you) you can see this info easily (on the race map) and you can even change the pitstop time depending on conditions (like if you have a penalty or need a wing change, of if there's a vsc) By far the best option is to have someone check this for you though, and the most important time for him (in a non SC race) is that pitstop window and make sure you're not getting undercut/come out in traffic if you try to yourself. Just like in real life even though you might want to undercut, if you're gonna get out right in the mix with the harder tires guys then you might as well stay out a bit longer ๐Ÿ˜‰ you're at that point racing guys about 20 seconds behind you though and the minimap is not a good indicator, so having someone who can actually see everything is a huge benefit, and makes it a lot more realistic. I do feel codies would do well to give us a nice looking official telemetry tool themselves, instead of relying on 3rd party guys to make it for them. ATM i feel the best free one is this one: https://www.racedepartment.com/downloads/team-telemetry.27638/ https://www.team-telemetry.de/ But as said this one is better for a 2nd person jeff. (which is better for seeing pitstops and guessing this stuff anyway) There's also a lot of telemetry tools that you can use as overlays on top of your game but personally i don't like the clutter.. I like having someone in the race to talk to and telling me all that's happening.. on which tires everyone is, and to figure out the best strategy because OBVIOUSLY you have 0 details while driving (as you should, how often do you hear drivers on the onboard "WHAT POSITION AM I? HOW MUCH DID WE LOSE?" because they usually have no idea ๐Ÿ˜› even if it's a safety car, everybody pitted, and order resumes as it was, they still often don't know. Having someone tell you that via voice com is by far the most satisfying solution but i do feel codemasters should provide the tools to do it and not solely depend on the modder guys.)

    What can we say... the word polish is a big absentee in the CM dictionary. They had bigger fish to fry though. Like adding even more assists and auto ers for everyone!
  6. If that were the case they could easily communicate this and end the discussions. That being said @IGK_Ickx Barry DID say the broadcasting graphics (might) get updates ("We have things that are yet to be confirmed on updates in spectator mode and some new additions ๏ปฟin game also.") let's hope for some slicker looking screens and.... penalties visible on stream โค๏ธ

    I've seen some racing video's but they all get taken down very quickly. but also seeing from some of the tt video's main menu's They do have grand prix mode but my guess is they are not allowed to video that yet. They do, however, have the information. And i would be well surprised if what we want is true and we can actually change it ๐Ÿ˜ž that would be way too thoughtful... 3 premapped modes though (where mode 1 goes to max 1 on straight and 0 in corners, and mode 3 goes to max 3 on straights and 0 in corners) would be a reasonable alternative if they really want to go this route though.. (which would be regrettable to say the least)

    No but i want to have the option to not use ers when i don't want to. and not have the ai use it cause i'm on a straight, whatever the circumstances. You can NOT do what i described above, as the ers ai will not know you want to recharge in the drs.. I want us to be able to setup the presets ourselves. so there is still strategy involved. AND there to be more than 1 ai preset. so, while we dont have to change that much every corner anymore, there is still control from our side. more than just use insane amounts of ers at certain times during the lap via toggle. And when i DO get past someone with a full battery after a few laps of charging, i want to be able to use more ers, but not overtake. where it drains your battery in a straight and a half. Also the virtual races may be exciting to look at because they feature celebrities. but for anyone who sees and does a lot of league races himself it just looks like a trashshow open lobby with people hitting eachother and getting away with it because damage is turned of. Not a true comparison and that they ran auto ers only added to that fact. It's 'fun' but noone takes it serious there, and this game can actually be really good if everyone takes it serious. But yeah i don't necessarily disagree with ai modes. and i'm actually happy we don't have to click as much. but I'd rather have MORE ai modes than just the one. so we can choose whether we want to be in (old style) mode 1, 2, or 3, on a straight, depending on the situation. But we wouldn't have to change it every straight (because any of the ai modes would be at 0 in the corners... as it should be) and just change every now and then depending on the situation. Now IDEALLY like @TheEmpireWasRight says we get to map those 3 modes ourselves, Although if codemasters gives ur 3 modes they map themselves (that, again are 3 "AI MODES.." so no clicking all the time) Then that would still be a much better solution than this. this just looks like arcadey nonsense to me. We needed less clicking at the end of straights. but we did NOT need less modes. (and less modes (1 mode) is less realistic because actual f1 cars have more modes)

    We have Jeff ๐Ÿ˜‚ the bastion of sanity. But you can also send your telemetry to someone. and then he can give you all the info. That's what we do in our leagues. Apart from the benefit of giving people who didn't get in the league a chance to get involved, it's also a rather realistic solution. This works for singleplayer too btw. I once saw a youtube where someone did career and his friend was being his jeff that actually made sense ๐Ÿ˜„ It was glorious. It's those little things how you can make this game a that much more realistic experience.

    I also agree that this is what the stream broadcast graphics should look like more where possible. as well as adding acquired penalties to the mix. That is what the fastest lap message should look like imo. not hidden at the bottom of the screen. Same with penalties when people get them. (Ideally with added sound effect) Having all this clutter on screen while driving, however, i don't even want to think about ๐Ÿ˜‚ that would be horrible. Hud is fine as it is. and you can drag everything around even, turn it off. It's the stream graphics for the actual commentary that needs drastic improvements and needs to be made to look more like this. Maybe add an option in game to create your own 3 Letter short name. So it fits a bit better.

    Except that it doesn't know when you want to charge and when you do not want to charge. or when you want to deploy any at all. Also overtake drains your battery really fast. The video i linked to earlier got set to private, which is sad, but overtake drains the battery incredibly fast. It won't be a couple of laps, more like if you leave it on for a straight and a half you'll be out of deployment for that lap. In ai mode it charges rather rapidly and it probaby doesn't know what phase of the race you are in too. (Also there isn't really any proof of the modes actually changing at all cause all we see is the 1) There is just no control anymore except going to overtake which is bad. WE should be able to set up the ers mapping for every track. and even then should be able to have multiple presets to choose from for different situations. (that we can all edit ourselves as part of the setup) if you go watch the onboards of f1 drivers they get asked every other lap, but sometimes multiple times a lap to switch a mode. because everything IS constantly changing and a one size fits all mode will be just bad (apart from boring) You say 'the ai will look to harvest more than deploy to get back to around 80 no? sounds good to me' Which is good. except that it should be up to US where we want to deploy and charge... LIke if i want to use the ers to keep up until the drs is there.. and then charge (by going to 0) on the straight with drs. i should be able to do it. and the ai will be oblivious to anything. it will me a MUCH less flexible system and that will be a big step down from what we had. Don't expect the ai to be doing a reasonable job.. it won't, because it can't read the race situation.

    You need to open that menu on the right side i think. then scroll to your car using the list there, and when you click (normally it is used to spectate that car without flicking through half the field) but if it is , in fact, your car, the 'take control' option is there.

    That is, i fear, incorrect. There is no way to change it anyway so also no way to 'teach' it in practice (let alone online there are no practice programs) Also the only switch you have is for mode 2. going into mode 3 (in quali) seems to be automatic (and i fear irreversible) It really seems to be, ai, or burn it all. mode 3 is just like hotlap.. burn it all a bit slower.

    Noone says micromanaging was required. but control is. I really don't get where you see people writing it's the old system we want. (although it is better than this) It is control we want.. preferably with a lot less clicks than before. What we are getting is a horrible oversimplification that we have NO control over setting up before a race, as the real teams do. And just a turbo mode. I think everybody was in agreement change was needed. but just dumbing it down like this and force everyone on AI mode is just lazy and sad and unrealistic too. IN real life there is no AI mode.. .there are multiple modes that they map THEMSELVES.

    People that didn't want it already had auto. Everybody knew changing it 8 times on a single straight wasn't realistic. But don't act like total ai control is the only alternative lol. At least if WE setup the ers mapping ourselves (and there be different presets) we get to NOT change it that often but STILL retain control. What we had wasn't the most realistic, and a bit labour intensive, But what we get now is LESS realistic, hence why people complain.

    I think if it bugs OP it's a bug. It's a bit lazy and a lack of polish I guess. But i'm just hoping they fix penalties and lobbies (and now, it seems, the ers) before they start doing this stuff.. (or halloween dlc helmets) Would prefer they did it all, of course.

    League mode is just not working properly. Unranked is the actual league mode ๐Ÿ˜‰ The only really sad thing about it is that park ferme rules (or tires) don't get carried over if (when) a lobby restart is needed between quali and the race.

    They also do not have an AI mode... it goes both ways ๐Ÿ™ˆ At least they have control. which is what we had and presumably don't have anymore. But it's at least good to know that this will at least be a part of the beta test and you want feedback on it.

    there was already auto in the game for people who didn't want to bother. Also it was very easy to get into your muscle memory. This system is not realistic at all too.. people just keep saying it is because real f1 drivers don't have to click as often. Giving US control over the preset ai would be reaslistic. (in terms of there being different modes AND in terms of US deciding the mapping in the first place, either by setup screen or by doing an example lap for the ai) Now it looks like they just practically removed ers management and replaced it with need for speed nitro. Maybe not clicking as much is more realistic. but having no control except for boost is not realistic at all.

    Thank's a lot! it is a big relief that this is indeed still subject to testing. Although i do only partially agree.. the real drivers do not engage with it 'while driving' as much. (in terms of clicking) But they do while setting up the car. and with different modes and settings there is still a lot more control than we seem to be getting this time around. Also: We are playing as the drivers AND the team in this game.. and the team DOES engage with it on this level. A realistic approach would be to have us make 3 different modes in the setups (for every part of the track specify exactly the ers mapping) This does look like it was just the easy way out... and removes a lot of strategy from the game if it's just the same for everyone. Can you also maybe explain how we're gonna make clear to the auto ers when we're backing out of a hotlap and want to start recharging for the next one? Or how the auto ers will know we are not looking to overtake the car ahead this straight, and not waste the ers? There are big fears this auto ers will force us to do a lot of things we wouldn't want to (like pitting because the auto ers is wasting it all during a lap you backed out off) Also it's a bit sad that we can't see the ERS mode the ai is in, instead we see the 1.... of being in ai mode.

    It apears to be: when it is yellow it says overtake (LB) (like.. it's available by pressing this button) on the straight (when it is green) it says "ausschalten" which means turn off.. (again LB)

    2 is clearly overtake in the video I, too, hope that the video is wrong. But if this was still subject to change i'd think @BarryBL would have told us by now. I think codies silence on this subject just means our worst fears have become reality. They totally dumbed down the one thing they had kinda nailed in f1 2019.
  25. At least this means we're probably not getting Halloween helmet DLC again which would be nice. Maybe we get a nice Halloween bugfix patch in return.
