Top 5 favourite cars to drive

    1. Lancia 037 Evo 2 2. Lancia Delta S4 3. Audi Sport quattro (S1) E2 4. SUBARU Impreza 1995 5. Ford Fiesta R5 This is really hard. I like most cars to drive in this game, just very few exceptions. And wich I like most changes quite often. At the moment I prefer RWD cars over everything else, even started a club only for RWDs: https://dirtrally2.com/clubs/club/335415

I was one of the loudest, when RaceNet was failing pretty much every weekend and on sales and new releases. But since more than a month there wasn't a single problem with RaceNet for me. At least 6 weeks now, longest time in a row since release of the game. Yes, depends on how fast you were and how far off the track when resetting on track. Got a minute time penalty in finland a while ago. Were you've been in USA? ๐Ÿ˜ฅ Now my usual summary ๐Ÿ˜„ Finland: Did several test runs before to get better feel for the car on that track. On SS1 I was very cautious, but also quite slow. Same on SS2: I was more than 8 seconds down after the long straight with those huge jumps and tried to push a bit more to not fall far behind. But I crashed and got a puncture... SS3 was just driving slowly on 3 wheels. Still crashed a few times. Car was completely broken at the service area, could only repair engine and radiator and still got a time penalty for that. SS4-SS7: Car was slow and had basically no turbo. Some crashes still happend. Scotland: Did some test runs before, but was unreliable like Finland. SS1 was ok, but cautious. Barely could follow @Dytut's pace. SS2 and SS3 were pretty god and fast. Was on a run now. SS4: Hit a tree stomp on the left in the 4th(?) corner, got punched to the right into the ditch and crashed against a log. I could brake a bit, so the impact wasn't that big, but still puncture on the front right. Drove on 3 wheels until the finish in SS6. Was quite good, no crashes, spins or whatever. Car was also ok, except the missing tyre, lol. SS7 was quite good, could fully repair the car and was quite fast. I was sure by now the championship was gone, because I was 3 minutes down, what would have been possible for me here. USA: WHAT A RALLY! ๐Ÿ˜„ That was a really close battle all the way between me, @Dunoon and @denim398! Unfortunately Dunoon seemed to have crashed in SS5. I crashed there too midway through. Even with a roll, but only cost a few seconds and no real damage. I was slightly too fast and touched the outside hill and rolled slowly and back on the wheels ๐Ÿ˜„ Right after the finish on SS7 I thought I lost to denim398, only realising seconds later that I lost the time to Dunoon and gained on denim398. Wohoo! 2nd rally win this championship and now leading!

Sold DLC car, cant get it back?!

It will come back at the car shop, wait for the reset. Not all cars in the shop will be available at the same time, thats why the shop has a counter running down.

I used softs, but I couldn't see if that would have worked, because I drove 80% of the 4 stages on 3 wheels ๐Ÿ˜„ In our championship we drive 3 longs before service area at every rally and I always use softs and it works quite well. Only Australia gets tricky at the end. I think the time you lose on the 4th stage you make more than good on the first 3. But driving gets tricky at the end, so nothing for beginners ๐Ÿ˜„

Big jump in difficulty between Clubman and Pro

Errm, no. You still seem to not understand that as long this is a game, that there will always people, who drive like crazy to get to the limits. There's not a single game out there, wich has at least a decent playerbase, were this is not possible. But I understand that you are up for the real rally thing, like driving careful enough to not crash, but still fast = authentic. Still possible with the mechanics in-game and still winning. I am the best example: not the fastest, but fast enough. And my driving style is probably more like yours, then those guys, who drive like crazy. I see that differently, but get your point. Restriction is sometimes a motivation. If you can decide the difficulty like you can in custom championships, what's the point of the career mode at all? It's basically the only difference and motivation: get up the tiers! Strange. On the one side you don't want a challenge, but this then is too easy for you? 1 minute penalties for 1 mistake on a track were you left the road? This would ruin rallies in career very frequently and would be much more frustrating than a too high difficulty. And: You CAN get a 1 minute penalty for leaving the track. It depends how fast you left the track and how far away you are from it, when you get resetted. I often get 10, 12, sometimes even 20 seconds. One time in Finland I got a minute because I overshoot a square left basically without braking at all. But yes, the auto-reset is annoying. Should be much more far away from track than it is like now. But then they need time-penalties "on the fly" for cutting corners without resetting the car. Or more objects on possible cuts to prevent it. Do you read what I wrote? Or do you only read what suits to your argument? I already said what they could do to make it easier for slower drivers. There is really no need for an even easier tier than open, it is just not very well balanced on some locations in specific classes, there's no doubt about that. It's already 5 tiers. How many different tiers are enough? I don't want to drive through 5 tiers to get to a decent challenge. BUT, I could deal with that, if it would be say 10. But only if the game recognises my speed after the first championship and puts me automatically in a tier that suits my speed after the first championship. And then continues on the classic way how it is now. But to be honest, I hope they complete re-think career mode anyway. I want it offline. I want a deeper career with sponsors, team-contracts and so on. One of my favourite racing games from my childhood was "World Driver Championship" on the N64. You had to sign to a team and fullfill there expectations, wich got harder and harder over time as you move up to better teams fighting for the championship at the end. And if you were on the top of the championship you got promoted into the better and faster league with new teams, cars and harder tracks. And started youre career at a new team from behind again. THIS, CODEMASTERS, IS A CAREER MODE!

I dropped from 117th place after SS8 to 257th place at the end due to a puncture on SS9 on the left front ๐Ÿ˜ž Never run with a spare, it's all or nothing for me ๐Ÿ˜„ Terrible 734th place at the end. This championship didn't worked out for me, lol. Hoped for a top 200 place, but oh well...that hope got destroyed after I realised I missed the first event.

Big jump in difficulty between Clubman and Pro

This is absolute normal. 1a) In this game are unrealistic cuts on many stages, wich is a flaw by the developer. Hopefully they have this in mind for the next title. 1b) It is absolutely normal that game runs are much faster und risky, because...IT'S STILL A GAME GUYS! In real life they can't do the absolute physical limit, because a crash can't be fixed with a simple restart. 2. We hardcore players also need a difficulty to play with. So it doesn't get boring. Saying for us is eSports and the clubs-Feature is egoistic and unfair. I also want a challenge in career. "Open" is really easy compared to "Masters", they could put more leagues between them, but that would mean more championships to play through until I get challenged. The best option would be to put an option to choose either to stay in the league you are in or rank up, if you are in the top 3. So you don't get automatically get upvoted and downvoted all the time, if the next league is too hard. We have nearly the same amount of credits (around 74.5 million credits on my account) and I simply don't get your problem. I don't mean this arrogant, but I just got better over time while playing. I simply can't give advice how to get better except of focusing on one car for a while, this helped me understand the physics better. My main problem is not speed, but being flawless through a run. And again, it is really egoistic to exclude faster drivers from game modes with CPU. I want to drive career races like you sometimes and "Masters" is nearly perfect for me. A difficult achievement killed your motivation for an entire game mode? The reason for achievements should do the exact opposite... I played even more at the time of the new Colin achievements, because I really, really wanted them. And you don't need one single cut or arcadic behaviour to get these achievements done. I refuse to use rediculous cuts in this game at all, even if they not the fastest way possible, because they are not authentic. Ah come on. Maybe it sounded arrogant, but it wasn't meant like that. It's a racing game after all. What advice do you expect here? Best way is experience and maybe to look at ghost times in time trial. And I think most people can get MUCH better, if they would change there mindset. This "complain instead of pushing yourself"-mentality nowadays is just disgusting. Though I get that some people just wanna have fun, but there are difficulties for that too in the game. But they could be optimised, yeah, see above. 1) Some cuts look unrealistic, yeah, should be adressed by the developers, but besides that? I dont' see Need for Speed-like behaviour in the game. They just drive at the absolute limit, because they don't risk there lifes while doing it. 2) Thanks to those players, we get a DiRT 5 that looks like a Forza Horizon 4-rip off. Errgh. There are enough players out there, who want a challenge...hopefully.

Childish comment. If I had no life, I couldn't write these words. And I play 3 games at the moment on 3 different consoles, DR2.0 being my regular game playing it nearly everyday. Theres not much else to do for me in the current time. Not always. If the next leg is only on stages with asphalt and no ice/snow, then softs are much better. That includes 4 out of the 12 stages, but can't remember the stage names right now. And yes, the AI is terrible balanced in that game, Rally and RX. Especially H2 FWD and R2 if I remember correctly and yeah, Poland being one of the worst stages regarding this. But there is still a lot of room for improvement if you can't promote from Pro to Elite. It starts getting really frustrating from Elite onwards, because times getting close to top leaderboard positions, wich is ridiculous. A better career mode is always welcome, but the "closed" difficulties on My Team career is not a bad idea in my point of view, just could have been better designed. I need a forced challenge on me like the Colin McRae scenarios to push my skills to the limit.

I think there are several reasons for it. A) The club-website is absolutely awful in terms of searching for a club. You can't even filter the clubs by members in it. If you could at least filter all clubs out of the list, were less than 10 members are in, you would have 90% less clubs to look through. B) The pandemic pushed the esport scene a bit it seems. So many clubs at the moment with long going events and prizes to win. So not much left for a small club like this. Players don't have the time to compete in all of them. C) Very controversial now: The cockpit-view restriction is maybe a point, that keeps players away. I am ok with it, but if we want more players, we may have to re-think that part. D) 6 long stages and 1 short one every 3 days may seem pretty much for some. But I really like that event format. E) The restriction to 1 car per season could be also a point. But I think that's pretty important and one of the best parts of that club. F) Some regular players didn't start in that season for whatever reason (maybe because of B). I have extreme problems with the S4 Rally in Finland. The jumps are just ridiculous. The car smashes on the ground on at least 3-4 jumps on Hรคmelahti and I can't control the landing properly. My rund will most probably a disaster. And because I forgot to post it until now: Argentina was a small disaster ๐Ÿ˜„ I remember a 10 second time penalty for an early start in SS2 followed by crashes. On SS3 the car was already pretty heavily damaged and to top that I got a puncture midway through. In service area I could only repair the engine, radiator and turbo and still got 10 seconds time penalty because I had not enough time. Several other parts were still damaged. SS4 to SS7 were pretty good, but the damage on the car made it a bit wonky at times. Wales was ok. No really big mistakes, only 1 or 2 times I crashed slightly into the ditch against a tree at low speed in the first leg. The car was surprisingly pretty heavily damaged, but I could repair everything. No real mistakes done in the whole rally, but I had low grip all the time and my runs felt pretty slow. Had no chance against @baunau here, even in sectors were I thought being pretty good I was a second or so down. But it was a huge close battle with @Dytut all the time and really fun. Had a VERY good first sector in SS7 with more than 4 seconds in front, but lost control after the 5 left after the second water splash and came off the track right before the hairpin. Managed to recover quickly and finished without more issues. Finland will be a nightmare ๐Ÿ˜„

Because it's pretty obvious what to do. It's a racing game. The more you drive, the better you get. Sure, it can help to change the controller-settings a bit, or a good tuning setup. But you don't really need that, everything on default is good enough to a certain point, wich you definitely didn't reached yet. Maybe try a different camera, I play in cockpit-view, I would be a lot slower in 3rd person. And like I said: focus on one car. Changing them all the time can be confusing, because they often have different reactions on input. Best would be either H1 FWD (Cooper S or Fulvia) or R5 (Space Star, Fabia or Polo). R5 being very fast, but the cars are pretty easy to drive. Just stick to one specific R5 and play with it for a while.

Excuses. Lots of excuses. I play with a controller and I am able to beat Masters and there is still room for more. And I am not even close to the top leaderboard guys. Don't waste your time with excuses and complaining, focus on getting better. If you have trouble getting better, focus on a specific car.

    The Solberg World Cup

@PJTierney What the f happened on your run? I got 5 (FIVE) punctures along the way (2 of them on the same stage), never had a spare. The first 2 longs I basically did completely (crashed shortly after the first sector in SS1) on a puncture. Had several more crashes, spins, runs on a puncture, time penalties and nearly broken car most of the time. Can't believe I still placed in front of you ๐Ÿคฃ That was probably my worst event in a long time (without retiring) with more than 12 minutes behind the leader. But I missed Monaco, retired in Sweden and just did an okish Greece run, so the whole championship was a mess. USA was quite good in the top 100, but everything else...meh ๐Ÿ˜„

Codemasters secures World Rally Championship license from 2023

There is no way I pay these ticket prices to watch Lewis Hamilton win for the Xed amount of time in an awful sounding car. You can excuse these sounds like you want, compared to a V10/V8 back in the day they sound awful. I don't say you can't get excited while on track hearing them, but it's not even close to what it was. And there is no german GP and soon no german driver in the field. No german team, too (no, I don't accept Mercedes GP as a german team), so no reason to go in a different country watching boring races in awful sounding cars. And I don't say, I want V10s back. They are outdated now, I know. But there must be a solution for much better sound. But it looks like it's just a matter of time we get silent electric only power units in the future in F1 and WRC. Maybe not in the next 3-5 years, but probably in 10. That sounds ridiculous. The Peugeot 205 T16 Evo 2 had 480 HP, that would mean we are reaching Group B HP again. Pretty ridiculous for rally sport. Not directly, yes. But they replaced the V8s for V6 Turbos, BECAUSE they have that Hybrid system as a replacement for some part of the HP output. And that part gets more and more and ultimately replacing petrol engines in the future completely.

Codemasters secures World Rally Championship license from 2023

So the cars will just be even more powerful? Can't really believe that. I really fear a 2nd mess like 2014 with these horrible V6 Turbo Hybrid engines we still have in F1. They sound absolutely awful. Watched an old Formula E race yesterday because I was bored...they sound like my vacuum cleaner (Vacuum cleaner? That sounds strange, but google says it's right ๐Ÿ˜„ ). Really dark future for motorsport in my eyes. I know, we have to find a clean way for motorsport, but is there really no other way as electric only in the future? Anyway. My fears for that deal is now, we get an official licensed game like the F1 games. The games are not that bad, but far away from an hardcore sim like DR 2.0. Doesn't matter what the F1-PR-guys say. And also classic cars. I doubt we get all we have now and on top the licensed cars. They will most likely cuts from the current roster. I don't wanna give up any of them in favor of these (quite ugly) new hatchbacks. I personally don't need the WRC license, if that means cuts to the current game. As a bonus sure, but not with a compromise. Maybe there will be a DiRT Rally 3 before that. Waiting another 3 years would drive me mad.

    Creating custom championships

I don't know it for sure, but my resets stopped completely after I did that reset progress-thing in march. I complaint heavily between august and march, that the game resets my championship on the same spot (4th rally, after 2nd stage) everytime. The game chrashed and after restart it got resetted. But since I did that reset for the achievements, I did several career championships without an issue (with the same cars). I bet it has something to do with the compatibility with some of the older patches and/or with the integration of some dlc rally locations into the career.

Strange, thought the 08' Impreza is the easiest car to drive from that class. But I didn't used it in a while, maybe my memories are false ๐Ÿ˜„ My New Zealand run was okish... Had some mistakes happened in SS2 and SS3, wich cost a bit time. But was surprisingly close to @Snoopy43 on several stages before mistakes happened. On SS6 sector 7 I crashed into a fence and got a puncture on the back. I had to drive on 3 wheels home, cost me about 25 seconds, I guess. This Elsthorpe Sprint (or what it's called) stage we had in SS7 is my nemesis. In both directions I just don't have the balls to drive flat out on the "straight", so I lose always time here. In the end, the pace wasn't good enough to beat @Snoopy43, but I come closer @Dytut...closer, closer and closer *puts pressure to the max* ๐Ÿ˜„

Turns out only one was slightly better ๐Ÿ˜„ Probably no one got through Rally Australia without issues, if I look at the times. You lose a big part of your grip in the 3rd long stage, but it's faster overall. But if you wanna do it save, use mediums. I also tried a more controlled run, in the end it was just luck I survived ๐Ÿ˜„ SS1: Went ok. I was sometimes in front of @baunau and sometimes I lost a bit. Had one moment were I hit a tree a bit and feared a puncture, but came away with it. SS2: Was also ok. Battled again with baunau for the lead, but had again a moment, were I crashed slightly against a tree just after the chicane. Got the lead until I came wide on the 2nd square left on tarmac after the bridge at the end of sector 7. Lost it there. SS3: I crashed into the chicane quite late in the stage, because I was on the gras with the left side of the car and couldn't brake enough. The car smoked a bit, but could repair everything in the service area. SS4: Came extremely wide on a very slow square left downhill on tarmac. Was pretty far away from the track, but luckily didn't got resetted. Cost me 2-3 seconds, but except that it was ok. SS5: This was a very good run for the first 5 sectors, had a very big lead by then. But then I hit the bank on the side of the road and rolled. I slided on the roof around 20-30 meters over the track until it finally came to a full stop were I could manually reset the car. Got 8 seconds time-penalty. That costed me around 14 to 15 seconds time overall I think. 2-3 corners later I hit the inside of a corner and spun, another 2-3 seconds lost. No puncture and the car was quite ok after that, so I tried to finish without more issues. Normally that would have been my end of the rally, but I got away with it ๐Ÿ˜„ SS6: Was very cautious overall, but no issues. Car felt still ok, had some vibrations coming from the car, but it went well. SS7: Absolutely uneventful, but didn't pushed much, to end this without another drama. Overall it was ok, my goal was to beat @Dytut to come closer in the championship and I reached it ๐Ÿ˜ƒ The next 2 rallies will be difficult, because shorter cars have a big advantage in the twitchy sections I guess.

@Dytut Epic failing Australia? You are leading ๐Ÿคฃ In my frustration to find a solution for my incapability to finish a rally without issues on a decent pace I tried to start as the very first with no one in front showing a time I have to beat. Didn't worked out, still crashed hard on SS2 on a tree. Puncture. In the 2nd leg on SS5 the exact same thing happened again (on a different spot) and I rage-quitted. Oh well, I see a big lead for Dytut incoming ๐Ÿ˜„

I used softs all the way. Terrible performance on my end. Many, many mistakes with time penalties. SS1: Was ok, just a bit slow. SS2: I crashed twice including a big time penalty and a smoking engine after the second crash. SS3: Car was heavily damaged and lost much power after half of the stage, but had also a crash. SS4: Was ok, but the car was still damaged and I couldn't repair everything. SS5: I crashed again...and got a 22 second time penalty. SS6: Was ok, but didn't pushed much, because motivation was down. SS7: Crashed and rolled the car, but still won the stage (lulz). Meh... ๐Ÿ˜ž

Whoop, whoop, finally a rally without a big mistake, time penalty or puncture ๐Ÿ˜ƒ Had a moment on SS3 were I came wide and almost crashed, but managed to come back on the road without any problem. Struggled a bit with the tyres on SS3 & 6, but was managable. Wasn't the max possible pace, because I was cautious sometimes, but still pretty good.
