@p622r I just wanted to know, if there is any reference car this season!?
I just picked up the Ibiza Kit Car, because others used it. -
I think I reached my skill limit with this car.
I'm just not capable of controlling this car for more than 4-5 sectors in a row seriously 😄
Did now 6 rallies and not a single stage in all these rallies was without a big mistake or I was driving slowly with a broken engine/puncture.
Australia was just completely ridiculous again.
SS1 was okish, just small mistakes, but I was waaaaaay too cautious, I even braked on straights sometimes because I felt I lose control.
On SS2 I punched on the gas right before the bridge after the first corner and landed in the ditch on the left side of the bridge.
Was really embarrassing.
2 or 3 sectors later I crashed into a fence on a very fast 5 left. Got damage on pretty much everything + puncture on the rear.
Barely made it to the service, could only quick repair engine and radiator and still got 30 seconds on top, lulz.
SS4-6 were better, still made mistakes, but I was capable of controlling the car...probably because I had much less power available.
SS7 was by far the best stage so far, but the car was still damaged on several parts (transmission and turbo had medium damage), but at least I could finish a stage without any noticable mistake and with GREEN at the end 😄
I also had a absolutely fantastic experience in Argentina on SS5 on a uphill stage. At least for the first 5 sectors.
I gained 20 seconds on the current leader (I believe it was @Janneman60 ) before I crashed hard at the end of a long straight.
I'm also quite impressed of @somethingthing's performance, he outclasses us all by quite much, too bad @Snoopy43 isn't competing regularly at the moment, could be an interesting battle.
Don't see anyone of us can keep up with that pace. I believe I couldn't even beat him in a Delta 😄-

4 minutes ago, JZStudios said:Yeah, but the One S is basically identical to the base version, it's just a smaller box.
No.
Since I own a X-Box One (Day One Edition) and currently using a X-Box One S I know the differences.
The One S is smaller, has a little more power and is HDR ready.
But yes, yes...probably have the identical version for both consoles.9 minutes ago, JZStudios said:Wasn't aware of Stadia, and I have no idea what goes into that. I thought it was like the Nvidia Shield streaming thing where it's a remote play of the PC version. Is it not?
No idea.
Would never ever buy a streaming machine.
I hope Stadia flops as soon as possible.
There are just too many systems out there at the moment, wich makes releasing polished games even harder.
Additionally to Covid-19, greedy publishers and lazy developers.
-
51 minutes ago, JZStudios said:I recently realized that this game is effectively being made for at least 8 systems, and it seems like it's been rushed to be day 1 for the new consoles. That's nuts.
I count 10 systems.
X-Box One, X-Box One S, X-Box One X, X-Box Series S, X-Box Series X, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 4 Pro, PlayStation 5, Google Stadia and several PC specs.
Ridiculous.
Was pretty much doomed to be an unfinished product. -

In case for the future, if I take to long to notice and setup another league, I want to remind you that @baunau and @Dytut are also Admins of the legaue and I've just promoted @UnderclassGDfan to admin as well, as you are a very reliable regular participant. So any of you three can also feel free to setup a new championship for the DRC whenever the opportunity arises.
😘
On 10/28/2020 at 9:01 PM, Janneman60 said:I did slightly better with a good pace, but with a few spins. Then halfway ss7 got a flat tyre which means my time is now easy to beat.
I also drive the mini, because, you know, it's a funny car 😀
You literally threw it away in SS7.
I had no chance to beat you here.
Had some trouble getting around some turns and struggled with the car a lot.
Luckily only one picked a Delta. The guy usually doesn't do a complete championship, if I remember correctly.
But maybe someone could message him, if he competes regularly?
But I don't know on what platform he is, probably not xbox 😄 -
11 hours ago, PJTierney said:Does anyone remember what happened with retailer "exclusive" cars for DiRT Rally 2.0? I believe it was the Lancia Fulvia and Porsche 911 RGT.
The Fulvia wasn't a pre-order car.
Only the Porsche 911 R-GT.
It can't be, because it's the starter car with free repairs.10 hours ago, FlatOverCrest said:Exclusive Pre-order Incentives at selected retailers.
Available at selected retailers, players who preorder the game will receive an exclusive Steelbook, and/or the Opel Kadett C GT/E.The Opel Kadett C GT/E was a "early unlock" car for pre-order.
The car is a base game car and not DLC.
The steelbook is quite nice btw, has a CMR2.0 design, has a special place in my collection.9 hours ago, PJTierney said:I'm guessing the Opel was a timed exclusive then, considering (I believe) anybody can drive it today.
Like I said, no exclusive at all, just an early unlock.
I'm quite sure about that.9 hours ago, FlatOverCrest said:I think I received it with my Day One Edition at GameStop. I didn't even pre-order the game because I didn't know about it in time. I think someone cancelled their pre-order, never picked it up or failed to pay the remaining balance. I just know I have all 82 vehicles, including the Opel Kadett C GT/E. Now that I have driven over 28 million kilometers in Dirt Rally 2.0, let's just say that DR 3.0 will be an immediate pre-order for me.
I believe I got the Deluxe Edition from amazon and the steelbook + Porsche 911 R-GT as a pre-order bonus.
But could have been Gamestop too...I can't remember.
Regarding the exclusive pre-order car for DiRT 5: Guys...it is ALWAYS the same with publishers today, they make deals with retailers and give them a pre-order car as an incentive to buy it from them and after 1-2 months it gets available in the store for a ridiculous price (4,99€ for 1 car or something like that). So they can squeeze out a little more from their fans.
Either way you probably pay more than you would without the pre-order car.
If you buy it from the store, Gamestop or amazon (who most of the time have these pre-orders only at least in my country) day one, you pay 5-10€ more.
If you buy it a little later or from a store, who doesn't have the pre-order, you may pay less and have to buy the pre-order car additionally.
The practice is common for 10+ years now.
Don't wanna defend that, just sayin' it's common.
Regarding that discord thing: It is just...it triggers me hard, when @PJTierney posts a link with JOIN DISCORD in it.
It is just the most stupid PR decision I have seen in a long time. Trying to get interested people on a third party platform to get advertised to their game.
And they not even do it on their own official forum AT LEAST ADDITIONALLY!
Let the fresh hipster kids be on discord. So be it.
But exclude the own forum? What?
It is like the game itself looks like: The responsible team tries extremely hard to get attention from the FH4/Fortnite crowd...just so obvious hard, that it disgusts me.
I won't join discord. Not for the Xd amount of DR2.0 league, who have that as an requirement. Not for getting advertised about a game, ***?-

I love statistics.
Would really like to know, how much of that goes on my account 😄
Trueachievements.com still says I did the most stages and kms driven on xbox so far.
I'm not so much surprised about the choosen cars, but I used the Fulvia waaaaaaaay more than the Cooper, because of the sound. And design.
My most driven cars are probably:
1. Ford Fiesta R5
2. Lancia Fulvia HF
3. SUBARU Impreza (2001)
4. SUBARU Impreza 1995
5. Ford Fiesta R2
Not my most favourite ones, but probably class favourites.
While I love Group B 4WD and RWD (every RWD class), I don't drive them so often, because I need to be full conentrated when using them.
New Zealand is my most driven rally probably too and my 2nd most favourite location.
Scotland is the new 1st! -
@PJTierney
I have some additional questions:
1. Is this an offer for Eagleizer only, or could I ask that, too?
2. Does it have any effect on DR2.0 in terms of save game or is there a risk, the game could go crazy with a name change?
3. What happens with leaderboard results? Especially older ones. Have old leaderboard entries the old name, the new name or get erased?
My RaceNet name "UnderclassGDfan" is my old X-Box Live Gamertag, I changed it in 2016 to "PlattfussGDfan" and I would like to "synch" them again to have the same name everywhere in the game. -

We should not wait for the Belgium's pick, because I'm sure he isn't active in this forum.

So safari rally is Finland.... 1 service after stage 2 (😜)
Errghff...that's slightly sadistic.
I somehow crash out quite often the last 1-2 weeks in other club championships, I don't know why.
This could be interesting, haven't driven the Group B's in a while outside from the obvious Delta (the reason why I wanted this gentleman's agreement). On 10/23/2020 at 3:03 PM, YoMrWhite said:That's going to be a wreckfest. We should be posting pictures of our cars after SS7. Could be interesting. And I think about using 2 spares.
If I don't forget it and if I see the end of stage 7, sure 😄

Which reminds me of Finland. The NPCs in Finland at night make the drive special.
Greece is really difficult for me.
There are so many points were a small mistake let you fall down a cliff.
Only sweden is even harder for me, never have a good pace there, but it is really fun to drive.-

Still no championship set yet 😧 -

Whoever decided to develop scotland (the complete package basically) needs to get more money.

I can only recommend clubs I'm in obviously.
Clubs with hardcore damage disabled, forced cockpit camera disabled and assists enabled:Gravel Busters (is running a 9 round rally championship, currently in 3rd round in australia with Group B 4WD, doesn't switch classes within the championship, ~9 stages each rally)
Ray Charles Race (is running a 12 round rally championship, currently in 7th round in scotland with H2 FWD, switches classes within the championship, also most of the time around 7 stages each rally)
RaceDepartment (currently runs single rallies with ~7-8 stages each, the current one is sweden with Group A)
There is also DiRT Rally Leagues, look further down on this subforum to get more information about that.
There you get into a club for your level of skill.
All other clubs I'm in have hardcore damage enabled, but allow non-cockpit cams and assists (most of them).

All other cars I have seen have a closed roof scoop at the back.
But the article is very interesting, thanks. On 10/16/2020 at 12:56 PM, JorritVD said:DiRT 5 i see as a "fun" game. Rally-Raid is not see as a "Fun", but serious part of the Rally genre.
I know what you mean, but this game doesn't look like fun to me, because it is a fun game... 😄
They could do it a little more serious in DiRT 5 like all the other disciplines, maybe it is, maybe it just looks like a combined Mario Kart/Forza Horizon 4 clone.
I still haven't looked at much PR-material about DiRT 5, because the artstyle, colours and overall presentation is just screaming "DON'T BUY ME!" to me.
DiRT Rally should be rally only, the "classic" rally.
DiRT 5 is the main series so to say and is the best place for a combination of many disciplines, like it was since Colin McRae: DiRT.
The absolute best way would be, if Codemasters would sell all the disciplines as full sized add-on packs for one main game.
So you could choose between say rally, rallycross, rally raid, hillclimb, gymkhana, trophy truck and so on.
And all these disciplines would have been full games for themselves content wise.On 10/16/2020 at 12:56 PM, JorritVD said:You can say resources are waste on RX, but without RX there wouldn't have been that much Rally content in the game 😉
I think a lot of Rally development has been covered with the profits and things that has been gained of WRX.Yes a lot of resources went to RX, but without RX there wouldn't be DiRT Rally 2.0, at least not as good as we know it is now.
I had to laugh at that point.
Do you really believe that?
I bet 80% of all DR2.0 buyers are mainly interested in the rally part.
At least the activity says that.
And no, I don't think RX is a complete waste in this game.
I own all the content, but played not much, because the AI is completely broken in this game (Hell is way too easy overall and all the other tracks are way too hard on the same difficulty for example). Especially the AI times from other heats (the ones you are not taking part) are ridiculous most of the time and destroy the full game mode for me.
I'm not interested in direct PvP online racing, in any racing game, because racers are generally toxic and unfair.
So a good balanced AI would have been the key for me to this mode.
Cars, tracks and all are great, but unfortunately there is no point to play this.
Statistics say I did 6179 rally stages so far, but only 325 heats.
And most of them only because of the achievements.

8 hours ago, JorritVD said:Hmm, with Codemasters licensed and produced so many new Rally Raid cars for D5, and as it looks like even Trucks, I wonder if something Rally-Raid will get a serious part in DR3.
I hope not.
More non-rally content means less rally content for the game.
They should fill DiRT 5 with that kind of content.
And before I open a new thread for just a question, I ask it here:
Maybe a stupid question, but: What function has that thing on the roof of the Fiesta R5 MkII?
I saw it has two big holes on the front, gets smaller to the back and is open at the back, too.
First I thought it's a graphical bug that its open at the back, because I always thought its for cooling the brakes or something.
But on RL pictures it's open at the back, too.I may have a completely wrong view what these things (I don't even know the name of it) actually do.

Hard to say without seeing video footage.
I had a similiar situation yesterday in spain with 3-4 corners were switching from left to right 2 times.
I just upshifted and downshifted a split of a second later. -
@BarryBL
I have the same issue, also on xbox one s with version 1.10.1.
I checked my challenges on the weekly event tab before, seeing I have 1 out 3 qualifying sessions completed for the challenge.
Did the weekly event from this week (historic grand prix) 3 trainings and the qualifying (I set a time and I'm 68th or something on the leaderboard right now).
But the counter for the challenge is still 1 out of 3 completed.
But the one for 20 kilometers/miles(?) in qualifying sessions got completed from 16 to 20 out 20.
I didn't checked others yet, because I had not much time to play this game the last few days and will be playing next week much more.
But I just want to "warn" you guys it seems to corrupt again.
It seems to work fine at the beginning of a new season and then corrupt at some point.
I will try other challenges next week, but guys...look into it this time, don't wanna have the drama from last season again.
Thanks for reading. -
11 hours ago, EggBerry said:Again, something I didn't know. Thanks for the knowledge. I tried hard tyres on wet banging through a stage in Poland today, and they weren't any help. Lots to learn, lots to learn.
There is no point using hard tyres until you want to do like a full 12 stage rally without service area really.

8 hours ago, EggBerry said:Where do you post discussion about really basic Rally concepts, Dirt 2.0 questions, driving questions, etc., along with a general discussion about everyone's latest and greatest sim rally exploits?
Just open a thread in the DR2.0 main forum I guess.
But since you already have this one, we can use it.
Maybe some magic happens and it will be moved to the right forum.8 hours ago, EggBerry said:Gears between turns: So let's say you come out of a 3-Right and the next turn is a 3-Left, and it's about 30 km(?) away. You are at the top of 3rd gear when you come out of the 3-R. Do you shift into 4th even though you will need to shift down in a couple of seconds? Or do you stay in 3rd all the way through the 3-L?
30 km? There is no 30 km straight in DR2.0 😄
I guess you meant 30 meters.
Depends if you hit the limiter then.
If not, stay in 3rd, if yes, then shift up unless you are not ultimately in front of the corner.
But there are 3 rights/lefts I would go through in 4th gear depending on the car and situation.8 hours ago, EggBerry said:Repairs: When you repair a vehicle, there are options for standard or replace. Standard repairs supposedly restore the parts to good condition, but how good are the repairs as compared to a complete replacement? IOW, if I could repair a light damage engine, would it be as good as replacing with a new engine would be in the next event?
Quick repair: Only use it, if you are short on time. The part will be repaired, but (I believe) it is more likely it gets damaged more easily then and it loses "power" more quickely. But not 100% sure on that. It also can't get "standard" repaired after you quickly repaired it once. Only quickly repaired again or replaced.
Standard repair: The part gets fully repaired, but costs more time then quick repair. I believe it fills up the power bar, too.
Replacing the part: Don't use it within a rally unless you have enough time and (in My Team) money for it, because it is very time consuming and costs the most money. Replace quick repaired parts in the garage, if you have enough money, so it gets completely new and full function again in My Team.
Quick repaired cars outside of My Team doesn't matter obviously.8 hours ago, EggBerry said:Tyres (or, as we say in the U.S., "Tires"): I've gathered a lot of advice about which grade of tyre to use when, and I confess that the descriptions in-game don't do a great job of explaining the differences. Where can I post about tyre use?
Just do it here, I guess?
The main advice is: On asphalt rallies use always a wet tyre, if there is a wet stage until the next service area.
Use only mediums, if there are more than 2 longs or 4 short stages until the next service area.
Only use softs in Monaco, if there are no stages with snow (the upper sections of the long stages).
-
1 hour ago, EggBerry said:I did not know that. But one of the stages (Poland) had a good amount of tarmac. I did have wet tyre options on a trip through Spain recently.
Only in Spain and Germany are wet tyre options.
Gravel: soft, medium and hard
Asphalt: soft, medium, hard and wet
Monaco: soft and winter
Sweden: snow-

Ok, good.
I choose Group B 4WD without Delta and 205.
This should be fun!-

Errrr...I waited so long, because there is server maintenance at the moment anyway.
And I am extremely unsure, wich class I should choose.
Most here seem to want R5 again, to do a Fiesta R5 MkII only run, right?
I actually would love to choose Group B 4WD and would hope nobody uses the Delta and 205.
I believe that would be a extremely exciting battle between the other 3 cars.
I also had H3 RWD or Group B RWD in mind, to switch regularly between 4WD and RWD.
Not sure...I mean, how high are the chances we get Group B 4WD in the near future, if I don't choose it now? 😄
But if nobody is interested in my idea, I choose whatever most prefer.

Hm, you want the game lie to you?
It doesn't matter if the result screen says you're 1st or 28th, the time is important.
If the game says you're first, but in Time Trials the same time would be 10268th place, wouldn't that be st****?
You need to find out what makes you slow, not asking for machanics, who lie to you.
It's hard to tell what the problem is without replays, if it's not crashes or constant big mistakes.
Maybe some Driver-Assists? Auto-Braking for example slows you down quite much, if you actually don't need it.
The big question I forgot to tell until now is: On wich difficulty are you playing?
In custom championship you can configurate you're difficulty with a slider from 1 to 100.
Did you tried that yet? -

Wales war aber auch DLC, glaub Season 2.
