Wow, got the sound-cutting-out-bug again.
Another club league race ruined.
Just 7 stages after the last one, what a bad day.
-
We are still in the second season as of now.
And why exactly is a second season pass hard to sell after the deluxe content dropped?
Wouldn't be the first game the last few years.
Games tend to get more and longer support these days.

4 minutes ago, Mike Dee said:You seem to be having this bug more than most, so it really makes me curious about your setup. @F2CMaDMaXX I'm sure could dig into it better than I could, but what audio setup are you using? Headphones, speakers, tv/monitor, surround? What are your ingame settings for audio? What about your windows settings? Any special software running that mixes/enhances the audio? Have you tried switching audio channels to a different output when this happens? Do you have music or anything playing in the background that continues to play even when the game cuts out?
The rate at which I've seen this bug happen to you makes me wonder if your system is somehow dropping the audio-out and setting it to something else. What would be weird about that though is that I have 3 or 4 different audio devices connected to my PC at any given time, more if I enable the audio drivers on my monitors but I haven't had a audio drop since the first few weeks. Seems like something is hijacking your audio though.
I just play alot, I think.
Usually 3-5 hours per day since deluxe release on average. Every single day so far.
Get it every 2-3 hours once average I would say.
My setup is very simple: X-Box One S connected to a 42" Samsung TV from 2012, absolute basic.
TV and console are put in normal stereo mode, because I don't have a surround system.
Since early june I use a stereo headset. (first connected to the controller, now directly connected with the TV.)
With sound from the TV, Headset connected to the controller or with the TV, doesn't matter for that bug.
Can't see any improvement in terms of how often it happens since release.
It always sounds like someone pulled the connector from the headset out.
And then: absolute silence. Nothing.
I know some people say they can hear the gravel and so on, but not with my experience.
After the picture-freeze-animation for loading into the next stage, I hope you know what I mean, I get the same sound as someone puts the connector back in and the sound is back.
If its really me and most people don't get the bug anymore since patch 1.2, then I absolutely have no clue what I'm doing wrong, because more basic than TV + X-Box One S + Standard One S Controller + simple stereo headset is not possible I think.
Would be cool if EVERYONE who got the sound-cutting-out-bug since patch 1.6 AT LEAST ONCE at any given time would react to this post to see if I'm alone with that or not, would help I think.

I'm really frustrated right now.
Started a club league race and in the very first Special Stage i got...the sound-cutting-out bug again.
Tried my best but crashed due to trying watching at the rev limiter, the arrow sign calls and the road ahead at the same time.
Lost the lights and got a puncture in a night stage.
Over 2 minutes behind the leader already.
Inacceptable Codemasters and you know that.
You wanna go eSports this autumn with that bug?
I know its difficult to locate the bug, because it happens random, but you really have to focus on finding a permanent solution to prevent this at all times.
It's game breaking.
I would even say to completely focus on fixing this over everything else.
-
Wow.
What a great patch.
Tested a bit to see whats changed.
Rain Effects on windshield: Much better!
Porsche 911 SC RS: My reported issue got already fixed!
Lancia Delta S4 engine sound: What the...so much detail now, fantastic!
Well, PJ, could you please hug the team for me, thanks 🙂 😄

37 minutes ago, Mike Dee said:No promises about anything, but definitely a lot of hinting towards at least more content to at least some degree. The obvious content would be more remasters from DR1 like the F2 cars and Greece + Finland.
I really don't get why many here love these F2 Kit Cars from DR1.
Didn't really liked them in DR1, because they are FWD.
But I love the VW Golf GTI in DR2.0 now, so maybe I would change my mind.
I would love to see some more Group B-, Group A- and older WRC cars.
(Always assuming Toyota and 2011+ WRC cars are not possible due to licensing issues atm.)

Many things seem to be almost guaranteed in this forum.
There is nothing guaranteed at the moment, just guesses.
No single official confirmation, if we get ANYTHING after season 2.
PJ is teasing us with a wooden stick sometimes, but that doesn't mean, we get a new season pass.
Maybe they come up with a DiRT 5 announcement in september or something, wouldn't be really surprised, but I hope not.

No way to drive competitive without copilot so I decided to retire...Next time I would wait until the next stage is loaded, theres a good chance it will come back then.
But yeah, really frustrating this bug still exists.
I had a very bad event too, lol 😄
Didn't even make it to the 3rd sector of the 1st stage without a huge mistake and a puncture. Lost around 1m 25s on the first stage alone.
Was a bit demotivated after that and had several more incidents.
I shouldn't do club runs directly after waking up, lol.
-
Lol, I got a point in Monte? Lulz.
-
Got kicked from the event after stage 3, because time was over 😞
I had small hope, that it let's me finish as long as I'm doing it in one go, but no.
Had just not enough time the last two weeks, so already the second event I missed out.
Was bad anyway.

43 minutes ago, PJTierney said:Incredibly hard to manually reproduce the bug on demand.
Yes, thats true.
I try for months now to find a pattern there, but I just don't get it.
Only thing I know is, that there are multiple versions of it.
One version cuts out the sound completely and doesn't come back until I restart the game.
Second version cuts out the sound but comes back as soon as the game has this "freeze picture go-to-loading-moment" but some audio effects are broken then. And that means restarting the game, because it will not fix itself from now.
Third version is like second version, but it fixes everything and no audio effects are broken.
From my personal experience, the third version happens by far the most.
Chances, the game fixes itself after a audio cut out in a stage, between 2 stages is by around 75%.
The important moment is this "freeze picture go-to-loading-moment", it is the audio reset point or something.
It always comes with a noise that sounds like you put in/put out a phone connector while wearing the headset.
Also the bug happens only while racing in a rally or rx event, never ever in menu. But game mode or car doesn't matter.
But if you stay for a long, long time in the menu, the sound/music starts sometimes to get slower, have to restart then. But I speak about hours of idle here.
Thats basically my experience about that bug since release, can't really say it got better.
Sometimes it happens pretty often (had it 3 times in 2 hours last week) or every second day once, wich is more usual.
Hope I could help somehow 🙂

27 minutes ago, PJTierney said:You can spend £300+ on a controller too, like the Porsche Xbox Elite 😄
I can only speak for me, but the xbox elite controller is garbage.
Has the same mechanics inside like a normal one s controller, just with additional pedals.
The left stick from my elite controller doesn't react sometimes when I push it to the right side, wich makes it useless just weeks after warranty ended.
I will never ever spend more money on a "special" controller and stick to the normal original pads. I'm already on my 3rd controller this gen.
As for wheels: Not enough money and space for a good wheel setup, don't wanna buy plastic wheel that will brake after 1-2 years.
But I'm happy with my driving experience anyways, DR 2.0 is very good playable with a controller.

Did very badly on Sweden, like I expected.
On SS7 I got a puncture, don't really know how I managed to get a puncture in Sweden, lol.
I really need to practice more there.
I don't get how you guys could be THAT fast on SS5 with the heavy snowstorm.
I was practically driving blind.
-
Meh, missed New England completely, had pretty much no time this weekend for that.
A week per event would have been better in my opinion.
This way I will miss several events surely 😞
But it's too late I guess.

5th place, wh000t!? 😄
There are definitely much faster guys than me in the championship, but was better than I thought in argentina.
Wonder how many seconds I could save with proper tuning setup.

1 hour ago, ChrisGrovesMCM said:Just checked - if you want, the race engineer audio can be dropped to zero, so it can be switched off. Personally I'd suggest not doing that as it's awesome 😉 The race engineer offers some very useful data on the fly, as well as other comments that add to the drama of your race, but if it's not your bag, you can switch it off 🙂
Ok, now you have one more Ultimate Edition-Buyer on launch.
I will definitely try it for a while, but my experience says I will get annoyed at some point, because I usually play my racing games for many months in a row. (Played DiRT Rally 2.0 since Deluxe Edition launch every single day so far.)
Now I have to find out, if there is any Pre-Order-Items like a Steelbook or something on any retailer in my country...

22 hours ago, UP100 said:You were talking about "notifications", something that isn't clear what it is. You also talked about race engineers. Just because you don't see something as useful, doesn't mean only "casuals" use it. Should I go around and say "I get it. The game has to have an OSD for casuals" just because I don't use it?
Just my opinion though, but it's a bit provoking as you typed in the way you did and it's not clear what you said to be made for casuals.
Soooo, you wanna start a discussion about my wording, ok.
First of all: Yes, would have been clearer, if I stated, that it annoys me personally, not everyone in general.
Just because I said "to have it in for casuals" doesn't mean only those use it.
Casuals need it. Everyone else not, but maybe want it anyways.
I don't want it, because I started playing racing games in the mid 90's and I am used to not getting talked to all the time within a race.
Kimi Räikkönen-Style, you know?
And before you come up with DiRT Rally 2.0 Co-Driver argument: Thats obviously something different.
21 hours ago, Oscar97 said:The race engineer is a staple of the series, but I'm sure you'll be able to turn off voices entirely in the settings.
I hope so, just want to make sure you can.
Forza Horizon 3 & 4 really annoyed me on that part (I know, different developer) and you can't disable it in these games.

Err...what!?
To casuals?
Casuals need things like that, because their usually not that familiar with games or racing-games specifically.
They need more information than me, because they don't have the experience I have, to know how things work.
I just don't need it.
Nothing wrong with that.

2 hours ago, ChrisGrovesMCM said:No problem! On the OSD queries: I just spoke to the team and as of right now, you can totally switch off the OSD if you wish. They've also given me a list of OSD modules you can *currently* enable and disable to your heart's content. The modules are:
Mini-Map, Prompts, Online Driver Tags, Dial, Timing, Progress, Notifications, Messages, Rear View Mirror, Proximity
Again, it's not final, but the list of OSD areas you can tweak will be very close to this, if not spot on, come launch day. Hope this helps 🙂
And on the audio side?
Can you disable the guy (probably race engineer) who is talking nonsense within the race all the time?
The only reason why I didn't pre-ordered the Ultimate Edition as for now, just saying.
Things like notifications of all sorts (audio and visual) are really annoying these days, though I understand to have it in the game for casuals.
Thanks in advance for being so communicative 🙂
-
After I saw the first gameplay I already have a question:
Can you disable the engineer who is commentating the race? I hate that trend in racing games nowadays.
Game looks like a remake/reboot of the first game so far, wich is good, because I remember very well of the first game.
But I am very pessimistic at the moment, Codemasters release politics are very consumer unfriendly at the moment, not happy.

- Rallycross: Killarney Motor Racing Complex, South Africa
- Nissan Sunny KitCar, Peugeot 306 Maxi (F2)
- Rally: Jämsä, Finland
Season 4:
- Seat Ibiza RX, Xite Mini Cooper (WRX)
- Rallycross: Lydden Hill, England
- Seat Ibiza KitCar, Renault Megane KitCar (F2)
- Rally: Guanajuato, Mexico
- Hyundai i20 (R5), Peugeot 206 (2000cc early)
- Rallycross: Circuit of the Americas, United States
Totally realistic list, but I don't understand, why nobody wants the VW Polo R WRC & Fiesta RS WRC for a 2010s class!?
I mean, the cars are pretty old right now, were in the first game...licensing can't be much harder since the first DR.
Yes, BigBen has the license for WRC, but we have the C4, wich is just 3 years older than the Polo R!?

DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games
in DiRT Rally 2.0
Posted
I get the impression it has something to do with my setup.
Maybe because it's installed on a external HD?
Or maybe just X-Box players are more effected by that.
The only thing I could try is to completely deinstall the game + all the DLC's, but I doubt that would change anything.
