Ironically removing @2Technical's setup helped me pass Greece 1998, as I wasn't getting enough rotation in the corners.

It's just further proof that there is no such thing as one setup to rule them all. For me in time trial with the soft tyres bolted on the rotation in the hairpins was bang on, However for another driver that likes a looser car on a degraded surface it can turn from a great setup to one that washes out when things get twisty. You really didn't have to remove the entire setup. Just lower the diff settings. That's the only major thing that would cause the car to wash out in the hairpins. So going from a pristine surface to a degraded one you are most likely going to lower the diffs by 2 straight out the bat. If you bolt on the mediums with a degraded surface i would be inclined to drop the diffs by 4 and soften springs and roll bars by 2.

Now with that in mind i would like to put a request in for i minor change to the game. I would like stage deg to be added to time trial as an option OR the option to return the the service park in custom when you only have one stage selected. Either would be nice. I just cant run in custom to give a more accurate setup because i have to keep driving back and forth between the service park and the stage to make adjustments. If you could pass that on @PJTierney that would be great.

I'd just like to add that @2Technical's setups are amazing.   In particular I'm a huge fan of the gear ratios.  If I would take one thing from every GTRTechnical setup, it's the gearbox settings.

I do get the impression that the setups are optimized for clean stages (no degradation) and fresh soft tyres, so I'd encourage people to use GTRTechnical setups as a starting point and play around with the springs/dampers/differentials as needed for the kind of rally you're doing.  They may not be the best for worn surfaces on worn tyres, but they're still by far better than no setup, and the gearbox settings are still extremely well optimized regardless of conditions.

Nail on the head there @ApexAzimuth. Due to the fact you cant dive back and forth to the service park to adjust the setup once you start a custom championship, all my setups are created in time trial with fresh soft tyres and no stage deg. So unless your driving style is the same as mine and your running in time trial you will have to adjust the setups i share to optimise is for yourself. They are only meant to be referenced as a guide, basically saying to get the best out of the car you need to be some where around here. The good thing is about the setups is you know immediately that if your running with stage deg/worn tyres/harder compound or in the wet you know that the dampers/springs/ rollbars will need to be softer and the diffs looser, and with slightly less camber. So they are very much a good starting point for your own setups. After all there is no such thing as one setup to rule them all.

    hello

i'm usually  doing the setups myself, but can i ask you for a generic good  gravel setup for the integrale?  to go really  fast and without too much understeer?

it's the only car i struggle to find the sweetspot

thank you for your work 😉

just dropped my Lancia Delta setups 12pm today.

You have probably planned on doing this but I am looking forward to seeing some setups for Sweden preferably for my favorite Peugeot 208 T16 hehe Just me though xD Anyways, hope you are doing good. This thread is a godsend truly and we as the community are really fortunate to have you doing these vids for us. While I haven't been able to use your setups fully (probably because I race with a pad) you gave me the ground work to build my own setups with being able to see and understand the changes you make to the car with your setups. Keep up the good works. Can't wait to see what you drop next. Like I said, my vote is some Sweden with R5's or maybe the 2000 cc's (Skoda!?). lol Cheers man!

hi, yes I have planned in the DLC locations for the car I done prior to them. Will be picking them up after Germany drops starting with the 2000cc and R5 cars. Yeah, my setups are obviously setup for my driving style using a wheel. So using a pad and having a different driving style will most likely incur some modification but im glad they have still help even if it is just a starting platform.

Your settings are awesome! Without them I would have given up on the game!

For now I just play the game with the cars you've done, can't wait for the next ones.

Thank you so much for sharing, you help noobs like me enjoying the game!

If you come to Vietnam the first bottle is one me 😉

Thanks dude, so glad I could help you out. If I ever find myself in Vietnam I'll take you up on that offer 😉

Drove some R5's in Poland using those setups, and it's amazing. The cars are so predictable, stable and fast now. I wonder, how do you get so good with setups?

thanks dude, your comment is appreciated. how did I get so good at setups you ask? well, I started playing racing games back in 97 with Gran turismo, picked up Colin mcrae rally in 98 on release, Didn't really start trying to understand the tuning aspect until Forza 2 in 07 and pretty much learnt all I know on the forza franchise and just adapted it to project cars, F1 and Dirt and it seems to be paying off. So literally just years of experience and taking the time to understand what makes the car do what.

Been using your setups on a few cars now @2Technical, they handle well :classic_happy:

If you've got any coming up for the Audi Quattro I'd be interested. Doesn't need to be location-specific, a general tune for most locations would be handy.

will be starting group b cars end of May. sorry its not sooner but I'm massively strapped for time at the moment.

can you make a video with setup for rwd cars?? i find lot of problem with escort and 131... thanks!!!

will be starting the H3 cars in a couple of weeks. I've also had a bash with the escort, was great on asphalt. Then I took it off road and the thing became an absolute animal. So I've got to spend some time understanding what effect what with the RWD cars as I very rarely use them.

    In the wheel alignment settings:

Front angle set 1 tick OUT (to the left).
Rear angle set 1 tick IN (to the right), or try even going 2 ticks if the road is curvier...

Front outwards is improving the start of the turn, but the more you increase the angle, the more delay will be between turning of the wheel and effect on the car... kind of small delay.
The inwards angle for the rear wheels is magic... improves mid corner turn.. which greatly influences the control over exit from the corner... for me it helps a lot in decreasing understeer. I'm surprised @2Technical does not use angles anywhere at all... especially on dirt roads, as it is very commonly used in real life setups.

I do use toe angles as and when the car requires it. namely the R5 cars, they did need some toe angles to keep the cars in line. Also in regards to toe the more you use the more you lower the top speed and effect turn response so I always use it as a last resort if I'm struggling to balance the car with springs, roll bars and dampers. After all this is the sim world and things aren't always what they seem.

    That's great..... Keep it up.
Because like me, tuning doesn't understand anything, your settings are a godsend.
The ones I tried are perfect except for the LANCIA FULVIA in Spain which is absolutely unguidable.
    Thanks for everything

which tune did you try for spain? was is it V1 or V2

Sorry if this question seems stupid, I'm a beginner when it comes to setups, but I don't understand the logic behind this. If locking the diffs forces the wheels to rotate at similar speeds, shouldn't this result in lower traction?

Sorry, when I say "locking the diffs" I mean a high % not fully locking them. You'll struggle to get around the corners if you do. Also because if the slider bar values you can never 100% lock the diffs. I think for most cars its 30-50% maximum lock. For my driving style I prefer the to keep the car as straight as possible because if your going sideways and/or counter steering your not going forward. The high diff setting (mainly the preload) just help keep the straight really. I've linked in some videos, In the first video I'm running high lock settings on the diff and the second video will show you the settings I used to get the time.

I find some things in your setups quite interesting. For example, for Argentina in Skoda R5 you make both fast bump and springs firm, while having slow bump set to soft. I always thought a bumpy and rough terrain like this requires an overall soft suspension. Could someone explain it for me?

Soft bump controls how firm the setup is over soft gradual bumps. Fast bump controls how firm the setup is on sharp bumps or landing from jumps. So a firm Fast bump will stop the suspension from compressing to much and hitting the bump stops or bottoming out when I gets extremely bumpy. So if a sharp bump is larger than the cars ride height you'll need a firm fast bump to stop the car bottoming out and causing unnecessary damage. As we all know any car that's hitting the bump stops or hitting the deck becomes skittish and difficult to control. I obviously ran soft fast bumps whilst I was figuring out what works best for me and I was just greeted with horrible crunchie sounds and sloppy cornering response.

Personally I'm looking for good setups for Evo VI. Love the car, but the understeer, especially on corner exit, is killing me. Any ideas?

Also, those snow and ice patches on Monte. I do fine on smooth asphalt, but I lose lots of time as soon as the ice patches start. No idea how to tackle this setup-wise. Softer anti-roll bars? Open diffs?

I'm finding locking the diffs up helps coupled with less camber. You'll need maximum traction when your on the ice patches/snow

Mate using an X360 controller on PC and loving these tunes.

Any chance we can get some Group A and Group B setups? Namely Integrale and Peugot?

Will get to the group A cars in 2-3 weeks with any luck. My apologises that I can't get them done any quicker than that as I have work commitments that take priority.

Hi there, i have no experience in tuning rally cars, and it's frustrating not to know what to tweak on the car when the handling is bad. I use the g920 racing wheel, and this awesome setup site is what i been looking for. Great work done, the cars handles just perfect, frustration is gone, now i can consentrate on driving without expensive damage to the car. The difference between default setup and this is huge, default dident work for me on wheel. So keep on posting, and a big thanks to you making the game so great to play!!

Thank you Peltz, Extremely glad I could help you. Setups will continue until all cars are complete.

This notion of "a setup capable of a top 10 time" is highly misleading and if I were you I would get rid of it. A good setup will never substitute good driving and I'm pretty sure there are players who would be capable of setting a top 10 time with the default setup. It's not alright to get peoples' hopes up in this manner. Other than that I think your channel could be of great service to the community, once you have setups for all of the cars in there.

You are 100% right there are players out there that could get a top 10 time with a default setup, I'm one of them and I know a good few of them to boot. I should point out I never said its a guaranteed top 10 time, just capable of a top 10 time. obviously I cant magic talent into a player but I can make a car more stable to help them enjoy the game more which is the sole purpose of me doing this. Mentioning that my setup are capable of a top 10 time is purely to stand out against the rest as otherwise its just another setup for people to skim over. I'm not trying to mislead as my setups are capable of a top 10 time if the player knows how to get through the stages. If they cant they will really enjoy the next series of videos once I've finished tuning the cars.
