f1 patch 1.22 Patch Notes for 1.22 - Deep Dive & General Discussion
TheEmpireWasRight replied to RedDevilKT's topic in Technical Assistance
Sadly there is still no speed trap data in the time sheets. But at least they made a small step in the right direction. -
THIS, would add so much depth and realism to the simulation of ERS. Hope Codemasters takes notes from your post and from this thread.

F1 2020 Audio Recording during Pre-Season Testing
TheEmpireWasRight posted a topic in General Discussion
@BarryBL Are Codemasters audio department at Barcelona Spain for the 2020 Pre-Season Testing, to record real life audio footages and onboard engine sounds once again? Imo, F1 2019 the game had the most realistic engine sounds so far in the franchise, but it was missing the final tweak to make the pitch a little bit higher for maximum accuracy for all engines, and the Turbo Whistle sound of the Mercedes was not prominent enough. Hope @issueskid @davidjgurney can deliver a even better mix this year and give audiophiles a blast to be remembered. -
Good news, but: Will F1 2020 have this revised ERS feature or will it be patched in after release at a later date, or should we expect it for F1 2021+? Imo, the sooner, the better.

Difficulty with the t300 steering wheel!?
TheEmpireWasRight replied to BrabusBG880's topic in Setups
"Understeer enhance on" takes away some of the control over the wheel, it feels less accurate when understeer occurs to correct the steering, but in the contrary it also helps to exaggerate the feedback of understeer to give a easier feel to where grip is about to get lost. "Understeer enhance off" gets rid of this feel and has greater control overall, but takes a little bit of a learning curve to understand the grip levels and when grip is lost. Some of the fellas in my league use it, but only to get a finite maximum amount of lock to assist them in knowing when the grip is about to fall, it doesn't make them faster though, actually they found "understeer enhance off" to be quicker. -
Now that almost all the liveries of the 2020 cars have been revealed, hopefully Codemasters can give us all "questionable" official sponsors in the officially licenced F1 2020 game: Ferrari: MissionWinnow (might get changed to a alternative slogan as last year) McLaren: Estrella Galicia (beer brand) Alfa Romeo: Singha (beer brand - was already in the 2019 game) Williams: ABK Beer, Bogart's, Bandero (beer brands)

Difficulty with the t300 steering wheel!?
TheEmpireWasRight replied to BrabusBG880's topic in Setups
Is this your first time on the wheel? If so, it is natural, and expected, to be significantly slower at first, but practice will improve your consistency and time eventually, just be patient. For wheel settings, try to get all settings adjusted to serve only 1 purpose, having a 1:1 handling and feel from your inputs transferring to the ingame registration, meaning that if you turn your wheel at 90° to the left, the ingame steering wheel should also be standing at 90° to the left or if you press your brake / throttle pedal down at around 40%, the ingame throttle and brake should also be showing 40%. In the wheel setting menu there is a specific option that shows the input value 0 - 100 for the steering wheel and the pedals, use that at first to see if your wheel is set correctly, if it isn't, try changing the saturation / linearity accordingly until you get the correct 1:1 result. Also, turn off "Understeer Enhance" and make sure that the Force Feedback is not set too high, else your wheel will start clipping and you will lose a lot of detail and information through the wheel. Anyways, have fun! -
Sadly there is no ingame telemetry or visual representation in the car setup menu to indicate any differences as of yet, despite people vigorously requesting such tools or features for years. Only way to know for sure, is by testing car setups in free practice mode. Don't use Time Trial as your testing ground, the track and the car are tuned for a infinite amount of perfect conditions in there, hence why it will certainly skew your setups big time, for example, once you hit career mode / gp mode / online mode with your Time Trial setups, high tyre temps and wear, less aero and grip, sudden snap oversteer or massive understeer etc. could occur out of thin air, because of how differently the car behaves under real time conditions. So always use the actual Free Practice mode. So, how can you know if you got the correct ride height? -If your car is producing too many sparks, the ride height is too low. -If you car is not producing any sparks at all, the ride height is too high. (Unless you are driving in wet weather conditions, in that situation you will want to have a higher ride height) Also, at default 6/6 the cars already have a natural "rake", which means that the front part of the car dips a bit lower than the rear, giving more ride height to the diffuser to maximize the aerodynamic peformance of the underfloor. Using a 8/6 can also be done without it making too big of a deal on the handling (especially in the wets you will want to have a bit higher values for the ride height to avoid aquaplaning and or spinning on kerbs). But the front being lower than the back is still the way to go in dry conditions for almost all situations (for example: 1/3, 2/4, 4/5 etc.). Either way, there is a huge issue for the car ride height in F1 2019, as all the teams have different natural values at default 6/6, Ferrari / Williams / Renault / Red Bull usually do not produce any, or not enough, sparks when going with the lowest ride height possible, especially the Ferrari is the worst in that category and is known for not producing any sparks even at 1/1 ride height at some tracks. In the contrary, the Alfa Romeo and the Mercedes are producing a pyrofestival at 3/5 ride height (meanwhile, once again, Ferrari does not even have 1 single spark at 1/1 sometimes!!!). Unfortunately, Codemasters did not address this issue to be fixed, and rather gave a vague argument that it is fine how it is. Imo, it would make much more sense to have all the cars have the exact same ride height values from the lowest 1/1 to the highest 11/11 so that they become homogenized to the official numbers for the ride height that have been legislated by the FIA, whilst giving each team a different standard ride height setup in the game if default is chosen (for example: Red Bull 3/7, Mercedes 3/5 etc.) to mimic real life more accurately.

I saw 32bet, Lyft, SportPesa, betway, manbet x, w88, dafabet etc. in FIFA 20 the game. Also, the real life FIFA consortium have apparently banned tobacco sponsorship altogether just like the FIA, but there does not seem to be any football team openly running around with abbreviations or counterfeit names such as "MissionWinnow" to weave through the superficial veil of laws, unlike F1. Either way, EA Sports have put almost all of the other alcohol and gambling sponsors in the officially licenced FIFA sports game, which is ironically rated PEGI3, but in some countries these sponsors are not visible in the game due to regional locks i believe (why is this not the case for the official F1 game?). Seems as if a massive amount of $$$ can buy almost anything after all.

F1 2020, my new ideas. How I dream it!!!
TheEmpireWasRight replied to G47's topic in General Discussion
Great thread, with a lot of nice ideas! Imo, i personally believe, going from Codemasters past, that F1 2020 will not be a revolutionary game, but simply a new installment as a natural continuation of all that F1 2019 offered already, with a few small tweaks here and there and a couple of new features. There might be 2 different plans to approach this dilemma: Plan 1. The next gen consoles, PS5 / Xbox Series X, are about to get published soon and 2021 will be bringing a completely new Formula to the sports, hence why putting all focus on F1 2021 the game makes more sense, especially if Codemasters are working on a new game engine to use the new power of the next consoles more efficiently. Plan 2. But, i could be wrong and Codemasters might plan to bring out F1 2020 on both the new gen PS5 / Xbox Series X and the current gen PS4 / Xbox One, to sell more copies as EA / DICE did with Battlefield 4 back in the days. I only hope that plan 1 is the path they have chosen, as plan 2 might hinder any proper development in terms of actually making the game become better for the future in terms of handling / physiscs / car setup / AI / online stability / animations / graphical fidelity / audio quality etc., also as mentioned already Battlefield 4 on the old gen of PS3 / Xbox 360 was nowhere near the PS4 / Xbox One version. Whatever Codemasters decided to do, we will know in the next couple of months whether to expect a masterpiece or a disaster for F1 2020 / F1 2021. (There might be a third plan, where F1 becomes a platform as iRacing or Assetto Corsa and all forthcoming seasons will be available as DLC) Who knows. -
Imo, the official game should have the official sponsors. F1 2019 has Singha in it, so why no Mission Winnow or Lyft? PEGI rating should not be a issue, as FIFA, which is also rated as PEGI3, has many questionable sponsors, such as Carlsberg, Heineken, Singha, Chang and or Lyft, in it. #OfficialSponsors

What is your favourite F1 2019 Classic Car?
TheEmpireWasRight replied to thatsfine's topic in General Discussion
Could be a plenty of reasons why: -maybe they decided that it is not necessary to be included anymore due to getting live statistics on what cars were used the most? -maybe they simply did not want to pay the licence fee for this particular car for yet another year? -maybe they were specifically told by the licence holders that the 02 Ferrari is now perhaps offlimits or the licence fee got too expensive or they had a time limited agreement / contract that expired? -maybe they cut the 02 Ferrari from the game, after the controversy of Codemasters being the ones that stole the CAD data of the 02 Ferrari from a hobby designer on Assetto Corsa without asking him for permission nor giving him any credits or payment to the original creator of the model? -maybe someone of the higher ranks and or the majority of devs at Codemasters did not like the car and simply asked the respective department to erase the 02 Ferrari from the game? Either way, hope they can be a little bit more transparent about classic cars, classic tracks and the whole licencing procedure, so that the community gets a better understanding of what happens behind the closed doors of Codemasters, this would also give us the opportunity to properly appreciate their work and not end up in speculations or rumours being spread nonsensically. Still, how much info is too much info? If at all, only Codemasters can give a definite & official answer. -

TheEmpireWasRight replied to thatsfine's topic in General Discussion
Love the Benetton, hope we'll get one soon in the game. It's one of my favorite mods on RFactor amd Assetto Corsa to drive with. Never understood this. Tobacco sponsorship is banned in real life, so it not being in the game makes sense, but the nonexisting alcohol sponsorship is just is sad, as FIFA, which is also rated PEGI3, had plenty of it in the game for years. Guess it's all about the budget. (Still, interestingly "Singha" sneaked into the game on the Alfa Romeo livery, so why no Heineken etc.?) -
Behavioral difference between career AI and AI private League !
TheEmpireWasRight replied to Dehel's topic in General Discussion
THIS. Furthermore, imo, it would be beneficial to get more of a "AI Driver Personality" ingrained into each individual AI of the whole grid, meaning that we see Ricciardos AI to be more brave on braking zones, Verstappens and Magnussens AI being more aggressive and more likely to push the player off track, Perez being more gentle on the tires, Lewis being a beast that gets multiple Pole Laps in Qualifying over the year whilst having a slow start into the season but gradually getting stronger towards the middle of it, Stroll being able to do mediocre or poor in Qualifying but always having great starts and good racecraft to make up for the lost positions during the race, Grosjean having a tendency to take himself out in mysterious ways, Vettel doing the occasional pirouette during the season, Verstappen and Stroll being exceptionally good drivers in changing or wet conditions etc. etc. etc. AI should feel differently so that each virtual driver has their own personality and can be distinctively recognized just by seeing their real time behavior on track as accurately represented as possible, this would increase immersion and realism tenfold, giving more depth to offline races and career mode as well as making online races, with AI turned on, less annoying. Hope such a "AI Driver Personality" feature might be considered for the next gen titles. -

Nice choice, for me it is the 98 McLaren and the 09 Brawn. (Sadly they removed the 02 Ferrari) -
When the next update gonna come out
TheEmpireWasRight replied to zoltan1996's topic in General Discussion
Good idea. Just like FIFA's "Gameface" feature, way cool playing as myself back in the days. -
They bought Slightly Mad Studios, who already use laserscanned tracks IIRC, so if Codemasters does not eventually laserscan all tracks of the F1 calendar, they'll lose a huge marketing point and some hardcore petrolheads might move along and never come back to this franchise ever again. I'm sure that i certainly won't come back ever again, if the F1 franchise does not improve significantly for the next gen Ps5/XboxSeriesX version. Either way, now please do a poll where we get the question whether or not Codemasters SHOULD laserscan tracks in the future, that would be interesting to know how the community stands upon this topic. Imo, official licence should include laserscanned tracks too, no excuses.

F1 2020 Request: Please add Live Season Updates
TheEmpireWasRight posted a topic in General Discussion
@BarryBL Live Season updates, that gradually and timely reflect and represent real life data for teams and drivers as well as HUD overlays etc., is one of the biggest features missing in Codemasters "official F1 franchise". Meaning: -If for example Mercedes start to be the 4th best team in Australia 2020 and become the 2nd best team in Hungary 2020 that should be reflected in the game accordingly. -If for example Ricciardo is outperforming his teammate Ocon and even his Renault car to place it where it should not be, consistent P5 - P8 places, then that should be reflected and represented in the game accordingly. -If teams have new sponsor placements on their car, for example McLaren decide to put the logitech logo on the Halo in the middle of the season even though it was on the sidepod before etc., then that should be reflected and represented in the game accordingly. -If the top teams are doing 1:15 flat around Spain and are able to make most of their time in the corners with insane amount of downforce levels and therefore crazy cornering speeds and in the game even the top E-Sports guys are not able to do the same laptimes or even hit accurate cornering speeds compared to real life (1 second off the pace, Turn 9 of Spain not taken flatout in the game etc.), then your car handling and downforce models are quite off, that should be changed so the real life car performance will be accurately reflected and represented in the game accordingly (at least one "car / team / driver performance update" every 2 - 4 GP's should suffice). -If the season is over, analyze all tracks, teams, drivers and car performances, compile all data and create a final update patch that will give us the Abu Dhabi spec of every part of the whole season to reflect and represent the sport in the game realistically. -If certain kerbs, DRS Zones or even Blackboxes are positioned or placed differently to your expectations, then that should be changed in the game as soon as possible to accurately reflect and represent the track models to their real life counterparts. -If the official HUD gets small updates in real life, it should be accurately represented in the game accordingly (you gave us the official Fonts in F1 2019, now please give us the full fledged official HUD at last!). [[[For career mode these performance updates do not have be applied (a on/off switch for updates in career mode is enough), but for GP mode, time trial mode, online mode, league mode, championship mode etc., it is vital to have accurate car/team/driver performance data, else the game fails to accurately represent real life]]] All of this should be common sense and a standard feature in a "officially licenced product", it should be paramount to take extra effort into accurately representing the sport and to take measures in development to fix it all during the lifetime of the game. Shame, we still do no have any of this, in 2020. Codemasters, now is your time to show us that you care about your community / customers and that the "official F1 licence" means anything to you other than generating cash. Don't fail us. #MakeF1GamesGreatAgain -
F1 2020 compatibility with ps4???
TheEmpireWasRight replied to miket24's topic in General Discussion
Devkits for the next gen Ps5/XboxScarlet have been rumoured to be out for over a year, and it was one of Codemasters "Ex- developer" that leaked pictures and more insightful data on the Ps5 devkit just a couple of months ago. Codemasters therefore must already be working on the next gen titles for quite some time. It wouldn't be too far fetched, as development for mutliple Ps4 start titles began around 3 years before release, so a similar plan very likely is the case today too. Either way, as to the plan on F1 2020 and F1 2021, Codemasters has 2 options: 1. Take the 2014 route and simply make F1 2020 a Ps4/XBone exclusive, despite of the Ps5/XBoxScarlet hitting shelves a few months later, to save money and to have more development time for the proper "next-gen" F1 2021 title. As long as F1 2021 won't be another 2015 disaster, this route might be the most likely one they decided to choose, but beware, F1 2020 might be yet another low effort copy & paste as in the past with minor changes and no significant improvements. 2. Take the route of Battlefield 4, which was published on the PS3/XBox360 & PS4/XBone back to back, this might be a more stressful and costly approach, but at least everyone would get a copy on their respective platform right in time. Back in the days, Battlefield 4 on the old gen Ps3/Xbox360 was unnecessary, it was nowhere near the performance of the next gen Ps4/XBone, as a matter of fact, the next gen titles could have been better if the old gen was not a priority to develop on imo, but a key difference between Battlefield and Codemasters F1 franchise is that CM create a annual product so the comparison is nonsensical or very daring. Only Codemasters know the definite answer. -
Please add that feature to the game, if you haven't already. The Halo HUD is one of the coolest graphical designs we ever saw in F1 history in my opinion and it'd add that futuristic look that Liberty Media is going for into the game itself to bring the presentation to the next level of immersion and officiality.
-
PC only.
-
The possibilities to increase immersion, with the official HUD and speedometer, is nearly endless. Sadly Codemasters refuses to do what is right: Giving us both, the official HUD and the Codies version of the HUD to choose from at the same time.

Idea for F1 2020 Codemasters - Historical Circuits
