  1. What the heck have you done to your brake pedal??

AI in the wet - all circuits

Because the AI were incredibly slow. Now they’re a bit too fast.

Correct, you can take out the soft yellow foam and replace it with a bushing with a higher value (since you only have 5 of each and you need 6 on your pedal). It will give the pedal a stiffer feel immediately, with the yellow foam you can push the pedal just by resting your foot against it, which I personally find annoying.

I have it at 50 BF with the 65s. I tried the setup with the foam part initially, but I really hated the pedal travel with even the slightest pressure, so I removed it and replaced it with a single 85 bushing. It made a massive difference, definitely recommend trying it if you haven’t already.

Totally agree on the loadcell. It’s great. What’s your preferrer setup with the elastomer springs?

I have the CSL elite + F1 2019 LE rim, incl. loadcell. Used to have a t300, which was great, but this is definitely quite a bit better. But so is the TS PC of course. Whether it’s worth going for it is just really difficult for me to say, considering I don’t know your situation. I’d say you can expect to feel it as an upgrade, but don’t expect too big of a change. It’s certainly prettier though...

AI in the wet - all circuits

Haven’t tried Hockenheim but I just did full wet at Spa and though challenging, after getting in the groove it’s actually fine. No assists 105.

AI in the wet - all circuits

USA is tricky but not too bad. Over 1 lap it was OK but full race distance I couldn’t quite keep up on my regular difficulty. Close to a second too slow. May have something to do with it being my least favorite track though and I lost interest soon and crashed out. Based on full wet only by the way.

    Frustrated New Player F1 2019

Cool. I’ve seen quite a lot of people who got into it due to that series. I liked it way better than I was expecting. by the way, F1 has a streaming service (F1TV) as well. Its not exactly perfect, a bit buggy but has actually worked quite well for me this year. I think Canada has availability but only for race replays, not live, for about $40 for the season or something like that.

It’s really a well researched post, but the above isn’t actually correct. The engine parts dont work the same as the gearbox. If you change the gearbox before six events completed: automatic penalty. the engine components can actually be switched freely, even between sessions during an event. Youll only get penalized when you order a new one beyond the 2 or 3 that you’re allowed to use. If you find yourself needing an additional engine part beyond the ones youre allowed, the best thing to do is just order an extra one of EVERYTHING in 1 go, incl gearbox. Youll get a massive penalty of 65 grid places, but since there are only 20 cars you’ll just start 20th. This way youll take the pain in 1 race only, instead of multiple penalties in multiple races. this is actually what teams regularly do in the real world as well!

In the main career mode: On the vehicle management screen. Below you can find a picture of someone who already used a lot of parts throughout the season. On the top youll see the total average wear of all installed components (40% in this example) but more importantly: on the right youll see the individual component wear % (in this example the ICE is already at 59%, which is probably higher than what you want to use for Qualifying and race as it will be losing peformance) You can also find it in session in your MFD. Thats the little popup screen on the right side of your screen while driving.

Well done. As a longtime series player you sometimes don’t notice how poorly everything is explained. In recent years they had instruction videos on each practice program but I don’t think those are there anymore. If I could give one tip: don’t expect to make your gearbox last the first 6 races. You’ll provably needs 2 or 3 gearbox durability upgrades before being able to do this. If it hits about 70% wear you may start missing gears temporarily. I usually change the gearbox as soon as this happens and deal with the penalty. Also, you can always order extra engine parts using the + sign (at a penalty of course), so there’s no danger of not completing the season. Another tip: It could be helpful to switch out to engine part #2 when each one hits about 50% and switch back to the old engine parts for free practice only. Have fun.

Feedback and ideas for F1 2020

Id like to see the drivers get a progressive skill rating for career mode, similar to other annual sports sims like FIFA, MLB the Show and NBA 2K, where AI skill is bases on a few variables (like outright speed, consistency, wet weather skill etc). Combined with a ‘potential’ grade base on age and potential this could give a more dynamic grid.

Feedback and ideas for F1 2020

Not a bad idea, but obviously won't happen. They'll manage to sell the game anyway so it makes no sense from a business perspective. Also, it's not unlikely that part of their license deal with F1 requires them to release a game every calendar year.

    F1 2020 Holland edition

So true. I once turned on the pre-race studio show one time and told my sister (who was watching with me) that they would somehow manage to drag Max into a story he had nothing to do with (about Massa I think) within the next 30 seconds. Took them 18 seconds. Not even kidding.
