I think i'd enjoy this for the online racing with others. Dynamic weather and/or track conditions, do we think? ("ever changing conditions")

DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games

I'll backtrack on my own comments from earlier, Dirt 3 for sure had stage rally, but, well i didn't like it and i think it's a far cry from when they game tried to be stage rally (DR) Which is fine. Whether D5 will have proper stage rally is still in question, JZ, i don't remember seeing stage rally in the announce video? Anyway, if it's what you want, D5 might not be the place to get it. I'll be wanting D5 for the other stuff.

So, you're confusing me. You're trying to use a modded car model, using an existing car model, and wanting it to sound like the way the car now looks? even though it doesn't handle like it either? Yeah we wish we could put custom liveries on the DLC cars 😞

The problem appears to be reading comprehension.

You can sort of hack replace the audio on non DLC cars. However, from what i can understand of your request, you're saying the Porsche and 306 are imitated sounds?

DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games

It's not just you, and it's not the simple question of does this game contain stage rally. It's, where is the rally content, we wanted rally content, why is there not rally content. Again, it was explained that rally and well, fun, apparently, are being split, in the dev letter released on Monday. I'm sure it could contain some rally-like stuff, but i think i'm right in say that Dirt 4 was the odd one out in containing proper stage rally - that was a result of them trying to merge Dirt Rally and Dirt. Mistakes were made.

DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games

Come on guys! Stop asking where the rally content is! 1) Dev letter on Monday spelled out that Dirt and Dirt Rally had split dev teams, allowing Rally to be more focused and Dirt to be more focused. 2) Dirt is not a Rally game - Dirt Rally is a Rally game. 3) If you want to be pedantic about point 2, Dirt is not a stage Rally game. 4) Dirt Rally is a serious Rally game under the Dirt franchise, Dirt was never a serious rally game. It's pure, offroad fun. Stop expecting and wanting things from a serious Rally game to be in a fun offroad game - i'll be looking to pick up Dirt 5 if i can because it looks like it'll be a blast - i'll be still eagerly awaiting the next Dirt Rally because that's where my heart is but i fully understand that Dirt games (not Dirt Rally) are not Dirt Rally games.

DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games

You're not taking into account that the handling isn't the only defining point between DiRT and DiRT Rally - that was my point, and why i said there is confusion. Having two handling models in the same game is a nightmare from a standpoint, and from a gameplay standpoint. As simple as it might sound, it's not, and i'd wager you think it's simple to the user too? it really isn't, believe it or not. Dirt 5 with DR handling would NOT be good, it would be a game that doesn't work. Again, DiRT is not a serious rally game, as i said, it is designed to be fun with authentic handling, easy to pick up for anyone. DiRT Rally was designed with the people who had the extra time, the extra interest, the ones who take driving more seriously, it removed the superficial fluff, and made the car handling way deeper and realistic. Added what it was to actually stage rally, not Ken block it for the weekend. There were cool things in D4, that after a while, got in the way of rallying. Notice the design styles of DR & DR2, Vs. DiRT 3 & 4. Speaking of superficial, the D4 handling (Sim) was only better at first glance, some things improved, but after a while, you could shoot it full of holes, i'm guilty of not having enough time before release to see the big issues it had, especially with RWD (i didn't test it prior to release)

DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games

People need to understand that DiRT, is not DiRT Rally. They are separate approaches to racing, one is more fun and authentic, it's about the overall entertainment, whilst the other is more serious and sim-like, more about the experience.

DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games

I thought this was a little gossipy that no one seems to have focused on too much. Highlights are my own comments to the dev letter released Monday) most are obvious but i felt it drew some conclusions/spelled things out a little more clearly when highlighted like this. "Prepare to see something new roar to life in the world of DiRT (DOESN'T SAY DIRT RALLY), very soon (ANNOUNCEMENT COMING?). Developed by a separate Codemasters studio to the DiRT Rally team (NEW TEAM MAKING DIRT AS OTHER TEAMS ARE BUSY?, SUGGESTS CURRENT TEAM NOW DIRT RALLY ONLY), we’re incredibly excited about what’s around the corner. We invite you to be part of a brand new experience, while also continuing to enjoy our definitive Rally offering. (NEW DIRT GAME, NEW IDEAS? STYLE? CONCENTRATING ON DIRT, KEEPING DIRT RALLY SEPARATE) As for the future of DiRT Rally?(DIRT RALLY NAMED SPECIFICALLY) Well… we have a few things in mind. We have big plans, driven by a passionate development team, solely tasked with taking the Rally series to even greater heights (CONFIRMS DR TEAM NOW DEDICATED TO DR). You won’t hear about that for a while, but when you do... oh boy, will you be excited for what’s coming.(SUGGESTS A LOT OF DEVELOPMENT, ESPECIALLY IF THEY DID THE NORMAL DEV TEAM (INDUSTRY STANDARD) AND STARTED WORKING ON IT WHEN DR2.0 SHIPPED) Whether it’s our latest game soon to be revealed (SUGGESTS DIRT GAME PER FRIST LINE AND ANNOUNCEMENT SOON), or what comes next for Rally (AGAIN SPECIFICALLY SEPARATING DIRT AND DIRT RALLY), we are incredibly excited to continue making DiRT the franchise (SEEMS TO INCORPORATE DIRT AND DIRT RALLY) for everything we all love about off-road racing. " It was commented on in the Dirt Rally discord, that this picture contains the font and background for Dirt Rally 2.0 on the left side and the font and colouring for DiRT on the right side. I think this further highlights the separate teams and franchises, split, yet combined as part of the overall franchise.

That picture appears to be indicating that Dirt has split into Dirt and Dirt Rally. It's not an announcement of the next game title.

DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games

    It's not perfect.
  14. 🤦‍♂️ Does Codemasters have the license ? Which license? the WRC license for WRC cars? no, they do not. No, so there won't be any licensed cars either, right ? Incorrect, all cars need to be licensed by their manufacturer and if part of a race series that's active, them too. And why does Codemasters have the R2 and R5 cars? They are "sub-classes" and licensed differently, the WRC class, for which those cars are not part of, is exclusive to another publisher and their own game. Still need to be licensed by the manufacturer. I'll give you three guesses. Maybe you'll figure it out for yourself. I don't need to guess, we've been talking about licensing for the past 5 years. If anyone's confused, it's you. You agreed to my contribution. I liked your points about R5, R2 and the other classes you mentioned too. And it's not about a quote. It's about the whole... I'm only talking about my quote, i literally quoted the person asking for "current wrc cars like you did in DR1" and answered the way i did for that point, and that point only. I don't really care and I feel sorry for you because if you don't know what to do you'll get insulting - Er, thanks?
  15. Alright, you seem to be incredibly confused about who i was talking to, and to what statement i was referring. I literally quoted someones comment with my answer. What you keep saying has nothing to do with what i'm saying.
  16. Again, what i specified as having gotten worse, is the ability to get the WRC cars, NOT the Junior or WRC2 cars.
  17. I was referring to the request for current WRC cars, not WRC2 and Junior WRC, and worse for them specifically.
  18. Per the first post, that's not gonna happen. And they didn't have current WRC cars in DR either, they were old specs and mismatched. I understand things tightened up after that so you won't get them at all.
  19. Ah, i stand corrected, i've been thinking about the 308 (which *is* GroupB (as well as group4)) but was earlier, the 288 is the one i was thinking about/wanting to see in game.
  20. I think you mean the 308 GTB for Ferrari? And yes, expansion of current classes is nice, this is just a wishlist thread, i'm sure the team will be picking their own and hopefully persuaded by our choices and suggestions here 🙂
  21. Yes, this is exactly what i'm talking about. Again, could potentially be tied to not only stage degradation, but perhaps also random moments. Whilst watching the VHS Rallies, '85 and '86 RAC rallies, this prompted my comments, they come across all of these things.
  22. ooh, and back to a fully upgraded car for the dailies. I'd like to see the return to a set car, instead of set class, for the dailies, maybe a mix of both? but love being "reminded" to use other cars i wouldn't remember to choose.
  23. Dynamic and/or patches of different weather on the same stage for sure. Climbing into a cloud bank, or hitting snow patches in a forest when you've made a climb, maybe a corner has iced up, high in the forest, combined with stage deg, the first runs through would hit the ice, maybe the latter runners would have it worse as the surface is polished.
  24. Some things to consider: 1) There's a finite budget for a game on release 2) Car licenses are expensive 3) Adding extra disciplines is expensive (time/cars) 4) Just because something exists in (current game) doesn't mean it's free and available to put in the next game, a lot of licenses need applying for again, they call cost. Hillclimb was ok in DR, but for the investment, it wasn't played too much, it took away resources from the rest of the game (finite budget for game release) I don't personally think we should have a hillclimb discipline, we're not lucky enough to have the huge budget (time, dev team numbers, licensing, access to Pike's Peak etc) to make it worth it. They're for sure a GRID or Dirt series (Dirt 5?) game kind of car. There for sure is a reason to drop existing cars, mainly for the reasons listed above, all take licensing, dev time etc. My example would be drop the NR4 class, it's nice to have, but only has two totally mismatched cars. Of the total cars in DR2, i think they're right down at the bottom. Money "saved" not having that class to develop and those cars to license, can be put into other classes that we all want expanding.
