    I didn't see, normally Coley mentions it, but i can't recall him doing so now. As for to whom was racing against, it wasn't just the Polo they were comparatively uncompetitive against Vs last year IMO.

    Agree, Niclas was oddly slow looking this year, somewhat similarly, so were the Peugeots, they seemed to find something in the last round, but so odd they were missing the front-running pace from last year.

    We're not saying the physics aren't working right, we're saying the steering effect of the car model is on a center pivot - it helps with the feeling of being able to "rotate" the car on slippery surfaces, it's one of the reasons why gravel feels so good, but on tarmac, not so much as the rear shouldn't move as early as it does when it's pivoting on the center point. It's not being done incorrectly, ie. it's not physics set for a non center pivot model, and then them having a center pivot model act upon that. It's a center pivot model with the physics set to correctly act upon *that* - with it's obvious draw backs re the tarmac.

    No, TOCA was the good one, in an old way, 2 and 3 were more mainstream in their approach.
  5. I'm going to go out on a limb and say you don't drive a car IRL. Not saying there is nothing to improve in DR3, but most of your points are attempts at making the game easier for you.

    Someone states a fact over the past 15-20 years. Responder counters and gives examples for things nearly 30 years and older. No tech company in now is the same as it was 20 years ago.

    I'm still trying to work out why the planned arcade game, Dirt5, is a joke down the toilet.... is this because you wanted another sim game, from a game that's never been sim? Wouldn't you benefit from the boon of simulation in that arcade is not being served? You can't just predict what will happen in ~3 years time when you start developing a game. ๐Ÿ™„

    Yeah, i wanted them to step-advance the replay of the final, but we got it enough times to see that it was a really unfortunate racing incident ๐Ÿ˜ž The Polo was clearly ahead of the Meganne when Johan stood on the brakes, Andreus only went up the inside because he was, i fear, too late on the brakes to make the apex from that inside line. Everything thereafter was a really bad side effect of physics and tyre barriers, causing the Polo to inadvertently force the Meganne into the wall, no input needed from either driver for that to happen ๐Ÿ˜ž Yeah, the Hansen's celebrations always seem a bit, nepotismistic? so much that even when they have a big deserved celebration that it still looks weird and unencompassing of anyone else on the circuit. Anyway, Bakkerud, i feel for him, i was surprised how off the pace he's been this year due to the car, after being practically the title winner last year, he was so genuinely happy during Sunday with the progress they made, and don't forget, on the front row for the final, he did that well! only to have it all binned on the first corner. I've seen them before, i've almost been part of them, but that kind of really bad accident is hard to swallow, as i said, it's a really unfortunate racing incident, but seems bad enough that it must be someone's fault.
  13. Haha, just got to respond to the 'ceremonial' part ๐Ÿ™‚ Special stages are sections of road/off road sections that do not start/stop next to each other. Rally cars need to be road legal to drive to the next stage to compete.

    There seem to be a lot of ways for controllers to interface, and whilst i've no idea if the physics poling rate has anything to do with it, i'm wondering if it does. Someone in the gossip discord just this week had a crash issue that was graphics related, but unplugging their wheel helped with it.

    The sound library for D5 is the same for all C titles. The differences are in how the mix is implemented in the games (notice the sounds are recorded from mic's positioned all over the car) and in how the game is using them (think gearing etc.) Notice in most D5 footage there seem to be two main things i've noticed in thinking the same thing about the sounds (not the quality, but the way they sound) The first thing is that a lot of cars have very tall gears, most of the footage i've seen they spend nearly the whole video in 1 or 2 gears, so there is a lot of "auto clutch slipping" type of sound. Secondly, notice how when the revs get to the top of the rev range, the engine *acceleration speed* slows down - i've seen this type of behaviour in other games, particularly in games where driving isn't necessarily the primary part of the game. It's also a side-effect of over revving a pushrod motor (valve float essentially) Anyway, i think there are 3 things in play with how sometimes the sounds don't seem to sound quite right. 1) Gearing 2) Weird engine speed acceleration slow-down near redline 3) Sound mixing likely not being final

    Yes, Coley did detail it in the first round, but i don't recall the specifics now, it was touched on again in Latvia that these are the lower cost versions and thus a little slower, i just don't remember if that's the only difference.

    Specifically, there are two specs of E cars, the ones we're seeing are the lower spec.
  22. I think DR2.0 did a fantastic job for it's cars, loads of new cars and some new classes upon launch, and all the old classics and MORE new cars in the DLC, loved the variety and range! The Colin pack was a fantastic finish to the game and i think it's clear there should be a DR3 going into dev at some point, and it better be on new tech with the new consoles coming this year ๐Ÿ˜„ Anyway, new cars! if we get DR3, what new cars would you like to see? What existing (DR2.0 cars) do you want to see return? or not return? Unfortunately i think it's a foregone conclusion we won't get current or recent WRC cars as the rights to those are locked away with the promoter, but i think anything else is game! I loved the expanded historical classes, the Ascona, extra GrpB cars and GrpA classes, just missing those Toyotas for now ๐Ÿ˜ž I thought the following: FWD H1 though the DS21 was, uh, interesting. FWD H2 - this was kind of tough for me to like, but i'm not sure why. RWD H2 - Love this class, feel free to expand it! ๐Ÿ™‚ RWD H3 - Love this one too, too often forgotten, lots of fun. F2 Kit Cars - This is a bonkers class, lots of love from many people, not my cup of tea, but they're massive fun on tarmac, unique experience for sure. GrpB RWD - Awesome class, some real classics here, would love to see expansion here, 308, RX7 etc. GrpB 4WD - Again, awesome class, love the cars. R2 - Again, not my cup of tea, but they're very technical and a great modern starter car, not sure why i don't have as much fun in FWD cars in DR2 Vs. DR1. Recommend keeping. GrpA - Talk about a backbone class, many classics here, would be amazing to get Toyotas in here, solid and fun class! NR4/R4 - This could be fun, it's nice to have them, but they feel like over-heavy 2000cc class cars, which, they are, unfortunately they're massively mismatched and with only 2 cars, it feels like it's missing the point and i wonder if it's even worth continuing in their current guise, maybe invest in the other classes instead? 4WD up to 2000cc- Again, like GrpA, amazing class, many classics here and a great move into more modern "historical" cars Vs. the GrpA cars. Should be split early/late 2000's though IMO. R5 - Solid class, amazing on the edge competitive cars, a keep and possible expand for sure. RGT - Brand new class for DR2.0 - a stand out surprise, i actually love these cars and this class for what they are, i'd like to see them return. WRX - I do like World Rally Cross and i of course want to see them return, but i have less love for the cars, we've pretty much got the entire lineup, i like the classics as well as the modern. Solid section of the game. Here's the DR2.0 car list so you can see what we have and maybe add/subtract. Huge post, i know, but i feel this is our opportunity to fight for cars in what i hope is the next game! ๐Ÿ™‚ Please stick to cars we want/don't want, how their split into classes is another topic and i don't want to worry about that part of game design right now.
