  1. That's what I am saying. As soon as the car goes sideway, it loses all the momentum.
This was present in DR and judging by the videos is still present in D4.

Maybe someone with enough skill can make a test in the Dirtfish area.
Drive at let's say 100 mph and
    - brake with ABS
    - brake manually (Threshold braking)
    - brake with handbrake and throw the car sideways

I suspect the third option will result in the shortest deceleration distance, which it shouldn't.

It's more likely to roll doing that.

The issue you're referring to in DR about losing momentum when you threw it far enough round, is not present in D4.

Sam, in the sentence used, ironic was correct, no confusion upon the meaning or use of the word there.
Let's pretend I say "Dirt X" was not realistic. Let's also pretend later I say "Dirt Y" is better than "Dirt X", but here are things I am concerned about: A,B,C.

    What is ironic about that?
Because you keep missing the middle of the sentence, the modifier if you will.
    Bolded for your benefit.

"Ironically, some said the physics in DR were wrong, and now Codemasters have gone and corrected it for D4, some people still say it's wrong!?"

Right, my mate and co-driver, Simen, has gotten hold of a code for the PS4 version, so I had the chance to sit down some time with the game yesterday. Although his wheel isn't set up the way I want at all, I did enjoy the physics of the rallycross cars and landrush trucks. However: The rallying physics were a let down. I found most of the cars I drove way too grippy with a lot of understeer. I actually prefer the loose surface rallying physics of DiRT Rally over my experience with DiRT 4 so far. This was of course running the simulation handling mode. Of course, I'm not going to jump to the final conclusion before I get to test the game on my own setup and fiddle around with the car setups, but I was a little disappointed by that.
Just curious. Were you doing sim mode with no assets at all either?
Was driving in sim mode with no assists on at all. It's weird though, the physics in rallycross and landrush are good, rallying is something else.
    Which rally car(s)?

  4. I agree with the Bacon Mallet, my dailys and career has been a blast so far.

Weight of the car goes light way better than DR ever did, and OMG, the Escort Cossie!!!  It was available in the classifieds, so i thought, sod it, bought it, man, it is *NOT* the same car from DR, i love it! :)

I too had a slight issue of marginally late calls in the weekly, mainly due to 5, 6, 5, 5, open hairpin F*$% - so i tweaked it earlier one notch (it's notches now instead of 3 settings)

Anyway, handling, i like how the rear of the 4WD cars can be lost way more easily if you don't behave with your right foot, the whole rotation thing is way more accurate and expected.  Clip that back end on something and it'll lift the rear wheels up a little and obviously the grip goes.
Flat out in 7th gear in the Cossie through Michigan as your crest 5 and 6 corners, compensating for the car not turning whilst it goes light......

Excuse me, i need to sleep, more racing tomorrow, i just added more sponsor hoardings, my custom livery is starting to fill up - still can't wash my car yet, so it can get pretty dirty between stages.

The very first thing I'll do when DiRT 4 will be installed...

    1) In my Steam Library, I will right-click on DiRT 4 and select "Properties."
    2) Click the "Updates" tab.
    3) Uncheck "Enable Steam Cloud synchronization for DiRT 4."
    4) Click "Close."

I had my share of bad luck with cloud saving.

    That's a default setting (enabled)

  6. In DR, i started to get a little more comfortable with Sweden, but there was always something that bit me and didn't quite feel right.

D4 is a different story, those rolls you've all seen in videos, they come from the rest of the physics changes; i just went crazy in the '01 WRX through a Swedish stage, much more preservatgion of angular momentum, lots of fun, much more expected results of running up onto the snow banks without that feeling the car wants to self right all the time.
