    How do you save progress?

I am figuring how to WORK AROUND the issue of saving in this game. Andrew your responses are totally not helpful, thanks for nothing on those. In Dubai I qualified #1 and finished #1 in the race with a McClaren, so I am definitely figuring out the racing mechanics (still cheating though with many assists on) The key is that you simply CANNOT save wherever you want in this game. You CANNOT save partway through a practice session or anywhere while actually on track. And that's ok, that's just the way it is, but that was my question. And you cannot stop the game from overwriting and saving your game when you move to another session. So when my wife crashed my car and the timer expired on the practice session it saved and overwrote my game. It dramatically dropped my reputation and my rookie standing, so yes IT DOES MATTER that I could not go back to a prior save point and its poor game design because of it. My solution is to get as many goals accomplished in a given practice session and then finish that session and save. You can't save mid practice, at least that I have found. And as you noted Andrew, I simply restart session if I don't like how it's going or I am pushing really hard and crash. I can't simply go back to a save where I did great on 2 objectives in that practice session, no, because of this system I lose those and a replay session takes you ALL the way back to the beginning of the Practice, and I haven't found any way around that yet, which is goofy. I guess you could save the game into a different filename after each race is completed, so if things really screw up, you can at the worst go back to the start of the next race weekend. I haven't tried that yet, but I am going to now because I have not started the first practice session in China (Race 3) yet. And yes, I learned my lesson to restart session when qualifying before crossing the finish line if I am not happy with my run, otherwise, there is that damn automatic overwrite again. So my next question is, if I turn off autosave, and yet it still autosaves, what am I actually turning off?

    R&D Cost Reduction Math

can you decipher this? what does this mean, should we start putting points into reduction sooner? Hard to decide what to do first....

    How do you save progress?

and the autosave screws me again.... So doing my qualify lap, one screw up cost me a little time... ended up Q6... can I go back and try again? NO!!! Seriously, even the actual F1 drivers get more than 1 lap 1 chance to qualify.... this save system is really bad... Devs please correct his... so frustrating

    How do you save progress?

so... lets take an example... You are in P1... you just hit a perfect run and purpled all the gates, wow, its an amazing run with lots of time left in P1 for other objectives. So you hit options (is that escape on the keyboard? I am playing on my PC) and then you select mid season save. Now you head back out onto the track to work on tire wear... you do ok but but only get green team goal, so you want to try the tire wear again. Do you hit escape again and find a load mid season save? and you can rinse and repeat until you actually move on to P2 at which point the game saves it as P1 finished?

How to load previous save in carrer

OMG, I just read this post, the save and backup system in this game is sooooo FUBAR! I posted this little experience on the wrong forum section, so as it is totally appropriate here, maybe I can get some advice: " Slowly learning this game, getting better, but after I had advanced through all the practice sessions and team goals for Australia. I qualified 5th with the McClaren team. Awesome right?!! So yesterday I raced for awhile with multiple restarts and retries... feeling like I bullied my way into turn 1 at the start but never seemed to do too much damage or get penalized. Long story shortened, I actually finished in 4th in my first race! It was a PITA and i had all the assists on, but I felt accomplished! So, on to the next race! I think I few mistakes in game setup screwed me royally today, but better to learn my lesson now before I am deeply invested into the season. I let my wife play on the Dubai practice session 1 this morning just to prove to her how damn hard this is, even with all the assists on. Of course she was all over the track and finally crashed. As we were chatting about it, the damn game advanced and save that as practice session 1!! No going back!! I was so fricking mad! And worse yet, none of my prior saved games were in the system under Solo, Game lOADS... omg, so upset! Where did all the game saves from my prior qualifying and race go??!! I assume the game simply overwrote it!! Damn stupid if the DEVS didn't think about that?!!Really!! So anyway, I had to delete the season to that point as my Rookie-Veteran slider went way down and it would be easier to reset than deal with that. I went into settings and turned off AUTO SAVE. So my question is, how do you guys save your progress as you go? After I restarted the career I went into the car settings and selected some R&D updates, then advanced into practice session 1. I went into saved LOADouts and well there is was AUTOSAVED!! What? I turned it off?! I hadn't saved anything yet and I turned off AutoSave, so why was there an autosaved file? " Its just going to overwrite me again at the worst time. How do I stop this, better yet, does anyone understand this save system? It seems terrible....
  6. Ugh, I have been posting in the wrong forum, no wonder no responses to my question. Anyway, its a simple one... Is there a way to save game progress at any point? Not necessarily during a race, but that would be awesome, but maybe during practice. Lets say your complete a team goal, but still have lots of practice time left, can you save it at that point and come back another day or time and resume where you left off?
  7. wow... 21 views and zero replies... nobody knows how?

anyone know how to save your progress partway through practice time as you complete team goals?
  9. Simple question, but as I play the game, I find it difficult to save my progress as I go. Example is say during P1, if I get once of my objectives completed, I want to save it and come back on another day, work on another objective with time remaining in P1... I cant seem to find a way to save the game in random intervals, suggestions?

OK, I am going to try to type this out again, cutting and pasting my prior attempted post isn't working... bizarre... Great post and great advice Poppy, I was away on business trips and couldn't play for several weeks, but got a chance to play yesterday. I had advanced through all the practice sessions and team goals for Australia. I qualified 5th with the McClaren team. So yesterday I raced for awhile with multiple restarts and retries... feeling like I bullied my way into turn 1 at the start but never seemed to do too much damage or get penalized. Long story shortened, I actually finished in 4th in my first race! It was a PITA and i had all the assists on, but I felt accomplished. I have a Logitech GT Racing wheel and pedals on my desk. I few mistakes in game setup screwed me royally today, but better to learn my lesson now before I am deeply invested into the season. I let my wife play on the Dubai practice session 1 this morning just to prove to her how damn hard this is, even with all the assists on. Of course she was all over the track and finally crashed. As we were chatting about it, the damn game advanced and save that as practice session 1!! No going back!! I was so fricking ****** off... and worse yet, none of my prior saved games were in the system under Solo, Game lOADS... omg, so ******!! Where did all the game saves from my prior qualifying and race go??!!@ I assume it simply overwrote it!! I went into saved LOADouts and tadah, there is was AUTOSAVED!! ***? I hadn't saved anything yet and I turned off AutoSave.?? Alright, I am really confused.... and where can you randomly select save career? I can't seem to find that either... One final question is the settings on my wheel I customized a little bit, but what is the story with the clutch? Do you need a clutch button as my pedals are only brake and gas... can you just use the paddles to gear up and gear down when assists are off or do you need a clutch for that part? (I am keeping my fingers crossed that this post actually goes through this time)

This forum mechanics is so frustrating... simple question where can you save your progress throughout your practice sessions, qualifying and racing?

OMG the race is hard... you need to be perfect for 15 laps?!! Dang... Well I got all of the team goals done by practice 2, so I just simulated 3. Then I got a lucky run and my qualify lap put me into 6th with the McClaren... happy with that... But dang 15 perfect laps?!! Im not a professional racing driver, the races are too damn long... suggestions so far?

That one is great, I went with McClaren just to see how it goes, selected my first upgrade which was overall durability... looks like I can only do one upgrade at a time... how low do they take? Now to see if someone has already gone through the pain of finding the best McClaren upgrade route....
