  1. I gave up and moved to PC. What a difference!
  2. I am also seeking answers to the same questions. Fanatec is relatively mute on the subject other than saying it is a Microsoft issue. I do find it hard to believe that if you are able to assign keyboard commands to various functions that there is no way to port that over to the wheel side of things. Perhaps an interface between the wheel and the XB to allow manual assigning of functions. I am also put out with the fact that Fanatec markets a wheel specifically for Xbox that is so handicapped by the ability to take advantage of all of its capabilities. As for the PC aspect of gaming... the upfront cost of a capable PC on par with the specs of say the new series x. We are talking investing close to 2 grand to achieve the same performance. Not to mention the bandwidth requirement from your internet provider and being tethered to 3rd party distribution from Steam etc. I must say that the performance of the Fanatec Podium with the formula v2 wheel that I have is far better than any of the logitec wheels I have had in the past.

    Cockpit VS TV Pod

I have been using cockpit view since I started sim racing back in the 90s because it seemed like the right thing to do If I wanted to feel like I was actually driving the car. But this year I was getting frustrated not being able to improve my lap times so... I thought I would try the TV pod view because so many "pro" sim racers were using it. Actually prefer the offset pod view. Well, my lap times improved by 1.5 to 2 seconds! Really ****** me off! A couple of difference's I found was a perceived sense of speed and and of course the better field of vision. The biggest benefit I found was I could brake a lot later than in cockpit view. I still go back and run TT in cockpit to try and improve because ultimately I want to use the cockpit view.

Lap times in game vs real life

    Interesting video!

Lap times in game vs real life

Both actually but more so during the race. I do see a difference between some tracks as far AI behavior. Silverstone for instance: My pole time was upper 1:24s with Hamilton just a few 10ths off in 2nd. Fastest lap during race for me was low 28s. The race last weekend was pretty much right in line with those lap times if I remember correctly so that's what got me thinking about it. I have been feeling like I need to up my game to get the difficulty higher than 75 but if it close to real lap times maybe I don't need to crank it up.

Lap times in game vs real life

I have noticed that my lap times as well as the AI at 75 difficulty run pretty much right in line with what I see in the actual F1 races. Just curious about 100+ difficulty settings. Is this beyond realism at that point?

    What camera do you use?

I just converted to offset T-cam with F1 2020. Been using cockpit ever since I started "sim" racing back in the mid 90s with NASCAR Racing. Always thought it was the most realistic and hated the chase views because of the center pivoting of the cars. Then I had the chance to drive a real car on a real track at the Petty driving school a few years ago. Not even close! Also drove the Indy car the following year. Along with the obvious differences... inertia, g forces etc. and even with limited head movement because of the restraining devices it is a much easier to see your way around the track. The 2 dimensional view offered in games today has improved considerably but the lack of peripheral vision still is not there. Point being... It is a game or simulation. It is not reality. Therefore I have no problem now driving out of the cockpit as it has improved my immersion by adding that little extra view enabling a much better racing experience for me. I still use cockpit view for other racing games but I think I am now a T-cam convert for F1 until VR matures a bit more. T

    We finally get 1.03

I just picked up a used Kinect on Ebay for $20. Voice commands are now active.
  9. Same thing here. It seems to be after flashback or sometimes at the start of a flying lap. I am on XB-1X with Podium DD1 -F1 v2 wheel.
  10. What wheel are you guys using? I have a Podium DD1 with F1v2 wheel and started having that same issue on F12019. It seems to have started after a firmware update. I discovered that if I go to the edit screen for the wheel then just back out without making any changes it goes away. Might be an xbox thing also.

    The F1 2020 10% discount for Xbox

It showed up in the store with a 10% discount through my account. I do have the digital and not the Disc. Did you buy the disc from Microsoft or another seller? I would think that if 2019 shows as "Installed" on your console when you access the store it should allow the discount.
  12. Interesting... I find just the opposite. I run AI at 85 and really have to push for a good qualifying lap but gain 5-10 seconds on the faster cars during the race. It does vary greatly on some tracks though. Seems like on the city circuits the AI eats me alive! I run 50% races in career mode.

Wheel Upgrade - How Far to Go??

Thrustmaster is good bang for the buck. I had the T300 and f1 wheel but didn't love it. Haven't tried the TS-PC. I have been through all of them out there for Xbox and just upgraded to the Fanatec Podium with the F1 v2 wheel. For me it was a game changer! So much more detail coming through. Not cheap for sure but the build quality is very good. All metal no plastic and very solid. Quite the improvement for me anyway.
