  1. I'm just going to sit back, not freak out and see what happens. It will either work out well and we'll get the same or better quality games or we won't. It's not like any one of us are forced to buy the games at launch or ever.

  2. It seems like no matter what, we will get at least one more rally focused, sim title from Codemasters before anyone even has an opportunity to mess that up. I couldn't be more excited if that is indeed the case. I will definitely be disappointed if the Dirt Rally and future CM WRC titles get watered down and adopt a more arcade handling model with some type of Forza Horizon festival type atmosphere. I like the FH games but don't want to see Dirt Rally and CM WRC games adopt that style/tone. I feel like Codemasters has already made it clear how they feel about this which is why they publicly declared a split between the numbered Dirt and Dirt Rally teams. I like arcade and sims (Dirt and Dirt Rally) but I feel like they should remain separate in at least their tone. I do wish the numbered Dirt still had rally stages like Dirt 2 and Dirt 3 did. I would have liked rally to be present in Dirt 5 and the inevitable future Dirt Rally and CM WRC titles. I guess I want my sims to be more serious in tone and closer to reality and I want my arcade games more fun focused but not necessarily eliminating any racing discipline from either franchise. I want rally in Dirt and Dirt Rally games and would enjoy them equally for different reasons. The moment that you make them all sims or all arcade, you lose a good portion of what makes them special to different people. Also, it seems rather difficult for many people (myself included) to define what a sim is versus an arcade or simcade game. I guess I want Dirt Rally and CM WRC games to feel like they have a more realistic handling model even if that isn't really real. At the end of the day, I play games to have fun and for the challenge and I know they are just games.

If Codemasters combines future Dirt Rally and WRC content into one title then I think we will get less rally content overall since it has been removed from the Dirt series. If they continue making Dirt Rally titles while also making WRC titles then I will be very satisfied if they are more sim focused and feature a large number of unique stage miles with great physics and controller handling. I would be delighted to see stage rally return to numbered Dirt games though. Give me all the great rally I can get whether that's in Dirt, Dirt Rally or CM WRC titles.

  3. People have been asking for a photo mode for future Dirt Rally series games but I hope it's not at the expense of the replay mode. I hope future Dirt Rally and CM WRC games have both replay and photo modes. If I could have only one of the two though, I prefer replay mode.

  4. Even though I do love a great arcade game, I do hope future Dirt Rally and the future Codemasters WRC games are sim focused. I am really excited to see what they can do with modern consoles and the WRC license. I would be quite sad to finally have the current, mighty, WRC cars in a Codemasters game about one of the most difficult motorsport series and it ends up being mostly arcade/simcade. That would be a bummer. All the more reason that we need games like Dirt 5 to do well, sell well and fill the Codemasters bank accounts so that we can continue getting great sim rally games.

  5. I am having a fun time playing Dirt 5 and that is coming from a mostly Dirt Rally 2.0 player, so I think they can and should both exist. Do I think things can/should be improved in Dirt 5? Sure. For example, many cars that carried over to Dirt 5 from DR 2.0 are missing rev lights/shift lights. In many vehicles, the analog/digital tachometers don't clearly show when to shift and you are bouncing off the rev-limiter before reaching redline on the tachometer or have no idea where redline occurs. For someone that enjoys playing using the cockpit view, knowing when to shift is pretty important. You lose a lot of situational awareness in that view and having to also look to the right side of the screen at an overlay tach just makes it worse. If I was playing in chase cam, it wouldn't matter and I would have the benefit of knowing where other cars were around me. The mirrors also don't work for cockpit view players, making this view even less desirable. The rain piles up on the side windows like it's clear jello which doesn't make sense in a prepped race car that should have a hydrophobic coating like Rain-X applied to windows to prevent this from happening. To me this is a poor design choice that chooses artistic preference over fun or even realism. The problem with having a view this gimped is that players may not use it. If the developers look at the usage data and see that no one is using cockpit view, without asking themselves why, they might consider removing it. I am personally tired of cockpit view players being unfairly penalized/gimped versus players that use other views. It's either that weather effects are too extreme for the view or some other visibility limiting factor that doesn't exist with chase cam or bonnet/hood cam views. There is no replay mode which looks to be a swap for a great photo mode instead. The AI seems overly aggressive on some tracks and then really easy on others. The large amount and close grouping of vehicles on certain tracks can make it seem like a brawl instead of a race at times. I would like a little bit better/more realistic handling model as well. Even with all of these perceived flaws and more, I am still having a great time playing Dirt 5. Do I hope that they fix or adjust most of these items and other more time sensitive community requests? Yes, I hope they do. I think Dirt 5 has the framework to be a great arcade racer. It just needs more time, work, control/input options, graphical options, and optimization. It's already so close to being a smash hit.

  6. The following statements are in my previous posts: "I understand that it is industry standard to offer pre-order bonuses from different retailers. The difference here is stating that grabbing the Amplified Edition, "ensures you have the keys to everything..." Last time I checked, everything meant everything."

I am specifically referring to the conflicting messaging of this particular game with respect to what Amplified Edition pre-order purchasers were told and not the industry standards in which other companies are not making the same claims. I know pre-order bonuses are industry standard. What is not industry standard is to tell your top-tier edition pre-order purchasers that they will get the keys to everything in a racing game and then not do so.

After thinking about it further, if the car is added to the platform stores at a later date, it becomes post-launch DLC and Amplified Edition pre-order purchasers should get it at that time. If the deal with Amazon and other selected retailers is not a timed exclusive and is not over then how is it being added to the store at all? The point I am trying to make is at the time the Porsche Macan T1 Rally Raid is added to the store for other people to purchase, it has now become post-launch DLC and the retailer specific deals have obviously ended.

Complete Codemasters quote from the description of all three platform storefronts: "Grabbing DIRT 5: Amplified Edition from October 2020 ensures you have the keys to everything the boldest, bravest off-road racing game has to offer, and are first in line for everything we create post-launch." Last time I checked, everything meant everything.

At the time I pre-ordered the game, all 3 platform storefront descriptions stated that "Amplified Edition players get access to every single post-launch addition to Dirt 5, including a minimum of 12 new cars, 60 new Career events, new player sponsors with fresh rewards and liveries and more items for features yet to be revealed..." The Porsche Macan T1 Rally Raid falls in to the category of a post-launch addition to Dirt 5 at the time it is added to all platform storefronts post-launch for people to purchase and is no longer a pre-order bonus.

For the Dirt Rally 2.0 part, I just copied Codemasters own materials outlining the bonuses. I think it is correct that the Opel Kadett C GT/E was just an early unlock.

  7. I understand that there is a base that probably prefers Discord but there is also a base that wants/prefers a spot on the forums so I think they should have both. The forums are important for users to be able to create an area to discuss a topic that interests or affects them, which you cannot do on Discord. Discord seems to function mostly as a hype machine and is not a replacement for a Dirt 5 subforum. I absolutely hope that future Dirt Rally and WRC games from Codemasters, do not go down this sole path on Discord. That would be a bad idea.

  8. I think I received it with my Day One Edition at GameStop. I didn't even pre-order the game because I didn't know about it in time. I think someone cancelled their pre-order, never picked it up or failed to pay the remaining balance. I just know I have all 82 vehicles, including the Opel Kadett C GT/E. Now that I have driven over 28 million kilometers in Dirt Rally 2.0, let's just say that DR 3.0 will be an immediate pre-order for me.

DiRT Rally 2.0 didn't have a "Year Two Pass", just sayin' 😉

It could simply be that a year of content is planned (I don't know the details, I only do Rally), but not ruling out a second if things go a certain way and having two different bundles for that would be useful in the future. That's what it was like for Rally, before we decided the Colin McRae Expansion should be the final paid DLC.

Does anyone remember what happened with retailer "exclusive" cars for DiRT Rally 2.0? I believe it was the Lancia Fulvia and Porsche 911 RGT.

Thanks for responding PJ. I think you're an awesome community manager for the Dirt Rally brand and I genuinely can't imagine having anyone better. I also think Chris Groves is doing a fantastic job as well. I hope the Dirt 5 game is great, sales are great and that they do a second year round of DLC. I just don't think Amplified Edition pre-order owners should need to pay more money when we were told the contrary at the time of pre-order.

DiRT Rally 2.0 – Day One Edition (market wide while stocks last).
Includes the stunning Porsche 911 RGT Rally Spec along with early unlocks for the Fiat 131 Abarth Rally and Alpine Renault A110 1600 S

DiRT Rally 2.0 Deluxe Edition (at selected retailers).
In addition to the Day One Edition, there is also a DiRT Rally 2.0 Deluxe Edition for the most dedicated players which includes five early vehicles unlocks (Ford Escort Mk II, Lancia Stratos, Subaru Impreza 1995, AUDI Sport quattro S1 E2 and Ford Fiesta OMSE SuperCar Lite) and also includes the first two seasons of post-launch additional content, each with three locations (split between rally and rallycross) and five additional early vehicles unlocks. The Deluxe Edition will also allow players to get their hands on the game four days early, launching on 22nd February 2019 and also includes upgraded starter cars for My Team, in-game bonuses and high reward events.

Exclusive Pre-order Incentives at selected retailers.
Available at selected retailers, players who preorder the game will receive an exclusive Steelbook, and/or the Opel Kadett C GT/E.

  10. The difference with Dirt Rally 2.0 was that I am guessing that you didn't know at the time of launch whether or not you would be doing additional seasons. Dirt Rally 2.0 didn't launch with a "Year One Pass" though and some people that pre-ordered the digital deluxe edition probably thought they would be getting all of the post-launch DLC included only to find out later that they would need to buy another season pass to get all of the content. I remember there being some confusion about the promo content at that time as well. I don't think the extent or limits of the pre-order season pass were as well defined as they could have been. I also realize that game sales often determine whether additional content is created as there needs to be a certain number of copies sold to justify spending additional resources on creating additional content. Companies can make plans ahead of time but those plans rely on the success of the game, measured in revenue. The pre-order digital deluxe edition included a season pass (S1 and S2) and later two more seasons (S3 and S4) were added to the game but had to be purchased. After that, you offered the Year One Pass for people that only bought the base game. People that bought digital deluxe edition could buy the Deluxe 2.0 which gave them Season 3 and 4. If Codemasters only releases 12 months of content for Dirt 5 and I get all of it then that is fantastic. Where I would definitely have a problem is if they release more than 12 months of post launch content and ask Amplified Edition pre-order owners to pay more money when we were told we would receive all post-launch content for Dirt 5. The problem and difference here is in the messaging. I don't think Codemasters claimed that Dirt Rally 2.0 digital deluxe pre-order purchasers would get access to every single post-launch addition to Dirt Rally 2.0 and the keys to everything the game has to offer. I never complained about the pricing structure or release of Dirt Rally 2.0 digital deluxe edition because I don't think Codemasters tried to mislead people with it. I just think you didn't know the extent of the post-launch content or at least that's what I choose to believe. It would have been an entirely different story had you told people they would receive all post-launch content, the keys to everything the game has to offer as part of the digital deluxe edition pre-order and then make people pay for seasons 3 and 4. That would be somewhat of a bait-and-switch.

  11. At the time I pre-ordered the game, all 3 platform storefront descriptions stated that "Amplified Edition players get access to every single post-launch addition to Dirt 5, including a minimum of 12 new cars, 60 new Career events, new player sponsors with fresh rewards and liveries and more items for features yet to be revealed..."

Also, "Grabbing  DIRT 5: Amplified Edition from October 2020 ensures you have the keys to everything the boldest, bravest off-road racing game has to offer, and are first in line for everything we create post-launch ."

On Xbox they have now added something called the "Year One Upgrade" to my Amplified Edition pre-order download. It's a weird thing to use the term, "Year One Upgrade" for a game that hasn't even launched unless there is already a plan for a year two. It seemed like they were changing the messaging to being only 12 months of free post-launch content following the release of Dirt 5 for Amplified Edition owners. I talked to Chris Groves and he said that it was his understanding that Amplified Edition pre-order owners would get all post-launch content as promised. He said that he imagines that the tentative schedule for post-launch content at this stage is 12 months which aligns with the Year One Upgrade. I just found a week old post on Reddit where Chris Groves posted the car list along with a paragraph at the bottom referencing receiving extra content they create for 12 months after launch so there is definitely mixed messaging. As long as they realize that they can't change the terms at the time of sale after the fact and I receive everything as originally promised then I am all good.

  12. I will be thoroughly disappointed if some of the 12 cars added to the Amplified Edition are Dirt Rally 2.0 cars missing from each of the 6 rally classes in Dirt 5. For example, the Mitsubishi Space Star R5 and Peugeot 208 T16 R5 are missing from the Modern Rally class. I could understand their absence if they could not come to a licensing agreement on the cars but to purposely hold back cars present in Dirt Rally 2.0 and then add those as DLC in Dirt 5 is not cool.

  13. That's a real bummer that there's no way to get the Dirt 5 Porsche Macan T1 Rally Raid on PC since it's an Amazon exclusive and only applies to physical pre-orders on Xbox and Playstation. Also, people wanting to get all the vehicles on Xbox and Playstation would have to preorder the Amplified Edition digitally and then pre-order the physical edition through Amazon. That's $139.98. That stinks.

It's even more surprising that Amplified Edition purchasers don't get this vehicle when you read the following description on the Xbox and Steam pre-order page: "Grabbing DIRT 5: Amplified Edition from October 2020 ensures you have the keys to everything the boldest, bravest off-road racing game has to offer, and are first in line for everything we create post-launch."

When I pre-ordered the Amplified Edition, I expected that I was indeed getting everything at launch and post launch as this Xbox, Playstation and Steam description states. To me, this is false advertisement and I think Amplified Edition pre-orders should receive this vehicle. Not only that but the Porsche Macan T1 Rally Raid is used throughout the promotional videos and materials, making it seem like it will be a vehicle that anyone can drive. I understand that it is industry standard to offer pre-order bonuses from different retailers. The difference here is stating that grabbing the Amplified Edition, "ensures you have the keys to everything..." Last time I checked, everything meant everything. After pre-ordering the Ultimate Edition of Grid and being let down by the lack of content and modes in that game, this is not inspiring confidence in your company and brands. Codemasters, please make this right.

update: I posted about it on the Dirt 5 Discord and I am waiting on a response.

2nd update: I was told that the Porsche Macan T1 Rally Raid will probably be available for purchase some time in December but that Amplified Edition pre-orders most likely will have to buy the car from their respective platform store. They said this is unlikely to change.

  14. Center pivot based car rotation is an actual physics implementation used in several racing games, including rally games (i.e. previous Colin McRae Rally games and possibly even recent GT games) not just an idea derived from people using chase cam. I think Dirt Rally 2.0 does use some modified, complex form of a center pivot based car physics model. They may adjust where the center pivot point is in each car and have multiple variables like tires/surface interaction/mass play a role in the yaw rate but I still think it's there. I think using chase cam just makes the usage of a center pivot more obvious. It seems more noticeable with the shorter wheelbase cars and while using chase cam. Several people credit some of the strange asphalt handling symptoms in this game to the usage of a center pivot car rotation model. I always play with cockpit cam in Dirt Rally 2.0 but I still notice it and wish the physics model was changed to something more modern and realistic. Cars sometimes rotate and push sideways in a strange manner that seems unrealistic and unnatural. I'm not asking for change, just for change's sake. If it's not going to be an improvement over DR 2.0 and more realistic then please leave it the way it is (minus asphalt handling, asphalt handling absolutely needs to change). I definitely don't want it to be worse. I could also be wrong about all of this but I am speaking up because I think it can be improved. Like many others, I just want future Codemasters' sim titles (DR 3.0, WRC, etc.) to be even better. Saying all that, it's still my favorite rally game with some of the best controller handling I have ever experienced on any racing game to date.

  15. I don't play RX as much as I play rally but I understand that for some it's the total opposite. I would definitely not want RX to go the numbered Dirt series route and become an arcade mode.

I am really hoping that we get a complete physics overhaul in the next game that does away with the center pivot model. In addition to a change in general vehicle physics, it would be nice if it included things like a new suspension system and modeling, tire modelling (including deformation, deflection, pressure, temperature and surface interaction) etc. I want the cars to behave more realistically. When I am driving in Dirt Rally 2.0, it often seems like the car rotates or slides sideways in an unnatural way. Also, we really need a rework on how AI is done on both rally and RX.

Do cars behave strangely and snap oversteer without any apparent reason for anyone else in rally stages? I am thinking this strange behavior is the result of the center pivot physics. It occurs in certain turns no matter my throttle input. At first I thought it was because I was getting on the throttle too quickly, letting off the throttle too abruptly or braking too aggressively. I paid attention to my inputs on the corners it was occuring and it does it no matter what I do. The only thing I can do is pay attention to how quickly the car is rotating visually and counter steer which sometimes isn't enough and the car still spins. If anyone else experiences this and has an explanation or ideas, please let me know. I have been playing the game since shortly after release and am usually a Tier 1/Tier 2 driver on rally dailies and Tier 2/Tier 1 on RX on all platforms, yet this still catches me out sometimes without warning.

  16. I am definitely not interested in extensive team management aspects like in WRC 8 and 9. I want to stick to driver focused tasks not spend my time switching out team members because they need a rest. Drivers aren't usually team management or the head of the HR department. Dirt Rally 2.0 has the team upgrades but doesn't require any more time once that's done and I am thankful for that.

I'm not really even a huge fan of unlocking the engine mapping and would rather unlock things like liveries or something unique (not performance upgrades) as a result of mileage or time spent in each car. I would rather have players be on a more level playing field so someone that doesn't play as much can still be fast in daily, weekly and monthly challenges. I know it's equal in clubs events.

To me it wasnt just the lenght but the air time, it was almost like it had wings in the air in a weird way. Difficult to explain exactly what i mean. 😕 Yeah its very difficult to tell the speed with the rally gt's, they are insanely quick! Thanks for trying!

Is the problem specifically with the Ford Mustang GT4 or all vehicles at this location? I will give it another go and try to pay attention to it's fall rate after jumps. I have never launched a car off a jump at 119+ mph in real life, so I don't have much to compare it to. The air time does seem to be quite extreme, but so is the speed and jumps. I have watched videos of Travis Pastrana and Bryce Menzies launch cars and trucks off ramps and the air time was insane. They usually start off with a shorter jump and gradually work up to their goal, modifying the ramp, speed, weight distribution, suspension setup or vehicle aero to get it to "fly" right.

I just did a club in the Ford Mustang in Finland and its air time felt crazy to its weight. I would go as far as say that it felt broken. Can anyone else try that combo and give your opinion about it?

I tried the Ford Mustang GT4 and the Citroën C3 R5 for comparison on the first stage in the Finland time trial list (9+ miles) and nothing seemed broken to me. I think the mustang accelerates faster on long straights and therefore gets more air because it's going over the jumps at a higher speed. It's pretty easy to get the mustang up to 119+ mph on that stage. I was still launching the Citroën pretty well though. I hope this helps.

  19. Is anyone else getting a server connection error everytime they try and launch clubs on Xbox One version of WRC 9? I have not been able to connect even one time in about two weeks.

  20. While I do think it's cool to know the process that a sound engineer uses, the thing I care most about is the end result. If the cars sound great then that is what I want. I understand that resulting sounds can be subjective based on the mix between all of the mics but the idea is to have the end result sound as close to the actual car as possible. If it doesn't sound like the car but instead sounds flat and synthetic then something wasn't done well in my opinion. I just hope it turns out fantastic for Dirt 5, Dirt Rally 3.0, WRC 12 or whatever they decide to call them. These are two of my absolute favorite racing franchises and I want them to stay top of the list. I am just going to be patient from here on out and see what we get from Dirt 5 on November 6th. I am really excited and can hardly wait.

    *says the thing*

Note, some of the later cars in DiRT Rally 2.0 (like the Ford Fiesta R5 MKII) are using the exact same recordings as DIRT 5.

To be fair, this was the entire quote: "Before someone says that this in not the final game, none of that matters if these are indeed the sounds that end up in the game."

I'm not trying to bash the game. I already pre-ordered the Dirt 5 Amplified Edition. I just want the game to be the best it can be and was thrown off by what I consider to be less-than-great car audio sounds from a Codemasters game. I hope I am wrong, and that the Rallycross VW Beetle, Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI and Volkswagen Polo GTI R5 or Volkswagen Polo R Supercar variant sounds are completely different when the game launches than what is heard in these Dirt 5 promotional videos. I am glad that at least some of the cars will be getting proper Dirt Rally 2.0 recordings. Thanks for the reassurance on those. Why wouldn't they want to use all of the best/real audio recordings from the same cars in Dirt Rally 2.0 that are going to be present in Dirt 5? Unless they recorded newer/better audio for the same cars appearing in Dirt 5, that seems like the logical choice. That would be strange if the Dirt 5 team were thinking they don't want their cars to sound like DR 2.0 and that they need to be different. Being different, just for different's sake, is not necessarily better. Especially when the DR 2.0 sounds are recordings of the actual cars. Why wouldn't they want all of the engine sounds to be from the actual cars that were already recorded for another game? Great car audio sounds is something that for me has become synonymous with Codemasters racing games and I hope that trend continues in Dirt 5 and all future titles.

  22. Is it me or do the engine sounds not really sound like they're from actual vehicles? It's seeming like Forza Motorsport 7/Forza Horizon 4 levels of bad engine sounds which is not typical of Codemasters. They usually have the best car audio recordings out of any racing game developer in the industry. Dirt Rally 2.0 sounds are amazing, F1 2020 sounds are amazing and so are GRID's. After listening to the car sounds in several of these videos, I think they sound very artificial and flat. Hopefully these are just placeholder sounds but I am guessing not because it's in official teaser videos. If these are the final sounds, then consider me disappointed. The graphical details look great but the sound doesn't come close to that level of quality at least not in these videos. I don't think it's because it's a YouTube video. Dirt Rally 2.0 has great audio even after YouTube compression. Before someone says that this in not the final game, none of that matters if these are indeed the sounds that end up in the game. Also, I would be surprised if they were still working on car audio recordings less than a month from release. He is a video of a GRC VW Beetle for comparison from Donut Media none the less:

Update: The Lancer Evolution VI in the Ultra Cross video and what I think is some variant of the Volkswagen Polo GTI R5 or Volkswagen Polo R Supercar in the Rally Raid video, seem to have different audio that sounds considerably worse than what Dirt Rally 2.0 has.

  23. @merseyxshore

Here is a preliminary list of issues that I have found with WRC 9:

Game: WRC 9 Digital Deluxe Edition (Xbox One X)

    Platform: Xbox One X

Input Devices: standard Xbox One controller

Car sounds, co driver pacenotes and other audio sources cut out with multiple cars in multiple locations.

Wipers do not wipe the dust away in certain cars and locations. The wiper animation works but the dust remains and there has been no change in the amount of it.

The water puddle issues have not been resolved on Xbox One and it makes wet stages much too difficult and ruins wet weather gameplay. I have also noticed that sometimes when you start a stage with dynamic weather, it seems like the water puddles carry over to the start of the stage even though there is no rain in the section.

The game freezes and crashes in the middle of stages.

The game sometimes gets stuck when trying to synchronize my times with the leaderboards.

Each day that I launch the game, team members have disappeared since the previous day that I played.

I cannot input my full last name into the game so that it is displayed on the side of the car because they made the character limit 9 characters even though there is at least one WRC driver with a 10 letter last name. Please increase this number.

Cannot connect to clubs on xbox one for the past 2 weeks. I keep getting a server error (12) but I can do dailies and weeklies. When I first installed the game, I was able to display clubs but had not joined any or participated in any events because I was playing the career mode first. Now I can not display any of them and get an error every time. Now when I try and access the clubs section of WRC 9, it returns a server error message every time and refers me to https://wrcthegame.com/wrc9/status which displays an NGINX 500 Internal Server Error. I uninstalled the game and reinstalled it but that did not make any difference. I have a gigabit internet connection and play other multiplayer games with no issues so the problem is not on my end.

In cockpit view, the MoTec rev lights do not function on the Porsche 911 GT3 RS R-GT and the digital dash elements do not fit within the display properly. This is more evident when you remove the steering wheel in cockpit view. You can see that several of the lights are being blocked by the digital dash border and others are outside of it. These elements need to be resized to fit within the perimeter of the digital dash display.

The rev lights on the 1999 Toyota Corolla WRC do not function at all. This is a vertical set of rev lights to the immediate right of the selected gear indicator. This should illuminate from the bottom to the top as the engine revs. It looks like it is stuck in the ON position.

The rev lights on the Citroen Xsara should be above the current selected gear indicator on the dashboard. In the real car there is a small rev light strip built into the top of this gear indicator on the dashboard cowl.

The rev lights on the dashboard cowl of the Toyota Yaris WRC do not function at all. These should illuminate red all at once when the engine reaches the readline as shown in WRC+ videos.

Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC rev lights on the dashboard cowl do not function either.

Ford Fiesta WRC rev light on the dashboard cowl does not illuminate at all. This shift light should illuminate red when the engine has reached its maximum RPM and it is time to upshift as evidenced by any of the WRC+ onboard videos.

Most of the Junior WRC, WRC3, WRC2 and WRC1 cars in WRC 9 do not use their actual digital displays like in the real cars which is a huge disappointment in an officially licensed WRC game. In most WRC cars, the real displays feature the current selected gear in huge font size which takes up nearly a third of the display or more and then have background colors that illuminate differently based on which particular car we are talking about to indicate the revs and when redline (maximum operating RPMs) occurs. Some of the top cars (Yaris, Hyundai and Ford WRC also feature separate shift lights on the dashboard cowl (gauge cluster cowl) so that the driver knows that they are reaching the point that they need to upshift even if they are not looking down at the digital gauge cluster. These things are there in real cars for a reason and they should be in the officially licensed WRC game and work as well. This is even more frustrating when the rev lights and shift lights are modeled in some of the cars but none of them actually function.

The single red shift light on the dashboard of the VW Polo WRC does not work at all. This worked in V-Rally 4 so why doesn't it work in this game.

I think there is a rev light on the Alpine A110 that is stuck in the ON position as well and doesn't function.

The Proton Iriz R5 has a strange physics bug that causes the car to roll over even at very low speeds. The car is undrivable at Finland on Xbox One X. It does this in multiple locations.

When you turn on the headlights, the dashboard gauges and digital dash do not illuminate as it should in an actual car. They only illuminate during night stages but some stages transition to night so the dash should illuminate any time you turn on the lights. If I am turning on the headlights then I also need the gauges and digital dash to illuminate as it would in a real rally car so that I can see what I need to as far as selected gear and revs. I should not have to rely on a HUD overlay on my screen to be able to see this information.

The Lancia digital dash is too dark and it makes it very difficult to see the RPMs to shift at the proper time.

The lighting on the digital displays and steering wheels at night are much too bright to the point that you almost cannot make out what is on them.

The steering is improved from WRC 8 but is still too twitchy for me on controller. Counter steering often results in a series of over corrections trying to get the car pointed in the right direction. I am guessing with a wheel this is less of an issue because you can feel what the car is doing and correct your inputs accordingly but with controller this can be rather frustrating.

I would really like to see work done on these things and for them to not keep putting off things until the next release. I'm getting tired of issues getting carried over to "the next game". I don't even know of a forum or way to tell them these things other than Facebook or Twitter. I don't think social media is the proper channel to report bugs.

  24. Let me start by saying that I am very excited for this game and that's coming from someone that's a huge Dirt Rally 2.0 fan. I like great arcade racers as much as sims just for different reasons. The last numbered Dirt game I played was Dirt 3.  However, I'm not a fan of the sound vehicles make when they land from a big jump in Dirt 5. It sounds like someone is clashing two metal trashcan lids together or banging on the side of a metal trashcan. I don't think vehicles make this noise when they land unless something is wrong. I think it would only make this sound as a result of the suspension not being sufficient, not being properly adjusted, causing the vehicle to bottom out, impacting the bump stops, and resulting in chassis/body or suspension component damage. Just not excited to hear this sound after every large jump. Please change it to something more realistic, less harsh or remove it all together. Thanks for making such fun games.
