That's why I think 2020 is a step forward but not in the right direction.

With all due respect @sirio994, you haven't played it yet. To play devils advocate, until you've experienced something first hand for yourself, I think its only best to speculate and assume. I've played it and, even though I liked the old system, the new system works well too. Just in a different way. You have to think "is it worth it" for every duel with a driver, which would be what real life drivers would have to do to.  The feedback we've had is from Lando and others directly and if they think its an improved model.

It makes you feel "Right, I'm going to use this so I've got to use it right" as you might not get it again too quickly. Like, i guess, F1 drivers too. (Disclaimer: I'm no F1 driver in disguise, I've drove a Formula 3000 car for about 12 laps as my IRL non-karting experience around a open track 😛 )

The way you're going, with such big balls, you should run Simulation at the least. In Reverse while pulling a handbrake. Front wing on the rear and vice versa and max. Camber cheat settings. Put the ballast to the front and off you go!🤪

Might be an interesting setup choice for Italy in the Forum League Wednesday. Worth a shot...

    Bazza mate,

Have you ever seen an iracing race on twitch? That sim is like a spreadsheet with a window in the middle showing the track! There is a racer general opinion that you can never have TOO many stats! Of course you wouldn't force players to fill their screens with data, there would be a none, minimal, normal or full choice which you would set in preferences and then cycle through with an assigned button or key the same way we do views. In fact most of us only ever use one view so we'd instantly assign the view button to race info when we installed the game.

I don't think you would find a single person who would say no I only want one view not a choice. You could also have AUTO FULL where if you turned that ON after every pass, or pit stop, or crash, or fastest lap, or retirement would put the full info page on screen for say 10 seconds.

I know we might sound like an ungrateful bunch never being satisfied with new features you give us and always wanting more but... That's how together we all help to make the game better and better each year.

Of course you KNOW that Bazza! You've just got beta lag right now and I totally understand that!

    👍😁

@sloppysmusic, I have, but not an awful lot. As you can imagine, I sometimes try not to think of virtual racing at my weekend as well as my week 😛 If only I was quick at it, I'd be all over it. I've drove a total of 3 laps in iRacing just as an experience thing. I don't think I have the setup at home or the personal time to invest in it.

However, there is someone who has. So I have some information on it from someone MUCH more well equipped than me! iRacing in fact has far far less that what is shown on twitch, as a lot of the modules and sections of the screen are streamlabs. The most you will see in iracing is a small input meter on the left, a small frame rate monitor on the right and a screen showing standings that is changeable to fuel.etc. known as the 'blackbox'. The basic settings on iRacing are the positions and the rear view mirror. Granted, the positions are a few more than F1 at this time, but that's it.

I've seen some screenshots sent from iRacing settings, and I guess its a matter of opinion and demand. From what I've seen, that far far too much. I personally have to focus on the racing, on the corners and keeping consistent to get any finish at all. I've got decent pace for our League Championship considering no/little practice every week, and I'm bang in the midfield with some very good drivers. But, I couldn't look at 10 other screens, focus on braking, worry about tyres and not bin it. Let alone racing in our packed midfield.

But the bold point is right. I understand that, and we'll always keep pushing. I personally think 2020 is a massive step forward from what I've played (which is a fair amount) and the improvements across the game are there. I will raise upon release, where the final production is in and there is a solid base to work off.

  5. From our perspective on this, our direct feedback has been quoted by Lee (and from Lando) in the below:

    https://www.racefans.net/2020/05/14/how-f1-drivers-helped-codemasters-make-massive-gains-with-f1-2020s-realism/

Like stated earlier, although other games have differing solutions, we have to work on the feedback from the guys who drive them. If Lando mentions to us that these are the core changes he'd think would bring it more in line (along with other drivers), like stated earlier, I'd like to think its our job to listen to him 🙂

    Hi everyone,

Firstly, address the major issue first 😛, @TheEmpireWasRight- Bazza is cool, I'm happy with that. I've been called a lot worse before in my life, I'll take it 👍

To provide an update of sorts, we are continuing to work with the appropriate bodies to improve our UI. With this subject, it is very much a balancing act:

    •  To provide as much information and accuracy to real-life as possible, but also not to crowd out the screen so it compromises the game.
    •  As it is a game, we also have to have some additions to the display that real-life doesn't have/need to make the game enjoyable and engaging. The MFD- imagine if we took it off for example. We wouldn't know our engine wear, tyre wear, remaining fuel etc. Teams of people know that from the pit wall in real life with live analysis and data. For the game, we have data where we have to communicate all that information in a way that is easy to understand to users both experienced in racing games, and complete newcomers. The formatting on that, logically, would have to be different as we have (some) different information to show and a different audience to cater for.

I think this earlier statement still applies to be honest. To agree with @Bicarda, if you saw all of this on your screen while racing, you wouldn't know where to look. There would be no space to race and the racing experience always comes first. Having all of this on screen when competing in races in just counter-productive for the racing from my experience driving and in the leagues.

We have things that are yet to be confirmed on updates in spectator mode and some new additions in game also. As ever, currently its a work in progress and subject to change.

@BarryBL But what about the official broadcast graphics? These HUD is completely different and chaotic then official graphics... for example why do we get three different overlays for lap counter / my own current position, timer of session and flags. We should have it on the top of the position tower on the left hand side as in reallife. If there is a yellow flag >> session timer should change to yellow sector >> green flag and back to the session timer. It looks so bad and has nothing to do with the official boradcast style what we want since years… What about all the 20 drivers that are not shown on the left hand side??

Sorry @FIE, this is a different topic and should be added in the correct threads. Please do not jump onto a different thread topic as it is unfair on users who want to know about the HUD. Also, again, all subject to change and work in progress.

I hope not to see this on more threads moving forward.

  8. @nksrfn, Please add any questions as a new topic, and try to refrain from jumping on others. I will hide this and related posts and please post as a new thread. Should you wish to discuss and suggest, please do so on a separate topic.

Remember, like always, work in progress and subject to change. I'd recommend waiting until the game has been seen in modes for that.

The pink still looks way too washed out and desaturated though. It‘s looking more like „babyish“ powder pink in the game. Even YouTubers who have the game noticed that. It is definitely a tad or more off.

    Hi everyone,

The bolded quote from @AllenB2609 is not exactly true. They have a version of the game, with limited modes, on they will be on a previous 'media' build that isn't the most up to date one. Like @Nightfire1964 said, the game, in all facets, is still a work in progress and subject to change, as there are multiple builds of the game updated internally weekly that will never see the light of day.

Game versions in development become old fast.

Thank's a lot! it is a big relief that this is indeed still subject to testing.

Although i do only partially agree.. the real drivers do not engage with it 'while driving' as much. (in terms of clicking)
But they do while setting up the car. and with different modes and settings there is still a lot more control than we seem to be getting this time around.
Also: We are playing as the drivers AND the team in this game.. and the team DOES engage with it on this level.

A realistic approach would be to have us make 3 different modes in the setups (for every part of the track specify exactly the ers mapping)
This does look like it was just the easy way out... and removes a lot of strategy from the game if it's just the same for everyone.

Can you also maybe explain how we're gonna make clear to the auto ers when we're backing out of a hotlap and want to start recharging for the next one? Or how the auto ers will know we are not looking to overtake the car ahead this straight, and not waste the ers? There are big fears this auto ers will force us to do a lot of things we wouldn't want to (like pitting because the auto ers is wasting it all during a lap you backed out off) Also it's a bit sad that we can't see the ERS mode the ai is in, instead we see the 1.... of being in ai mode.

At the moment @Bicarda, I'm going to say that more details will be available in the BETA for the testers, and we can then can action feedback and give more info out too. We have de-briefs ready for BETA week one, and will go into the detail we are looking for for testing. By the bolded text, we meant that drivers do not have 6 modes they can freely change at any time they wish.

(Should be in the World of Motorsport forum, not the Game forum.)

    Agreed, moved.

Personally, I like the move. I think Hulk goes back to Renault next season. Call me boring, but I think that may be the call from Renault for 2021.

Reality: Hulk to Renault, Seb Retires.

What I'd like: Seb to Aston Martin, Perez to Haas, Grosjean retires (nothing against him, just Perez for the North American market suits) and Alonso to Renault.....maybe.
