Its a known issue that if you simulate or fast forward in qualifying then the AI will post faster times then normal. During qualifying do not fast forward, make sure you drive out (do not click straight to fast lap) and when completed your lap drive yourself back to garage (do not go in pause menu to return to garage). The only time I fast forward is when there are no cars on track.

What i think they should have done is this. The lower the team at the beginning of the game them the bigger the R&D tree. This will mean that theoretically, when all teams are maxed out with nothing else to purchase, then performance should be the same. This will mean any team could get to the top first or fall to the bottom with R&D resets at end of season and changes of regulations. So the bigger teams don't pull away, then the lower upgrades for the smaller teams are cheaper so they can catch up to the midfield and the top upgrades are expensive. Hope that makes sense, does in my head haha.

upcoming patch Patch 1.12 AI doesn’t get blue flags - Master Thread
Ukbordoy replied to cpthammer's topic in Gameplay Issues and Bugs TA
You can turn it off in the graphic settings I believe, only in cockpit view though and not any others. Edit: actually it might be in camera settings, but it does exist as I've turned it off previously. -
Thought so! I wanted to start a career with Red Bull and have a championship battle with Hamilton. Few races in and its Bottas leading the way! Ridiculous. Think ill start again with the F1 2020 championship mode instead.
-
Funny how we ask for some things but its by design and unrealistic so it won't be in the game but they can't even get the driver ratings and stats right!
-
What is it like on the F1 2020 Championship mode? So not my team or driver career but the other championship mode. If I remember rightly there are no stats on there as you drive as a real life driver and there's no development or driver transfers.

I do the same, even if I have loads of R&D points I only spend a small amount just to keep at the level I want to be at and slowly improve. No point just flying to front of grid otherwise I might as well have started a game with Mercedes.
-
You can be the slowest, its to do with the way you answer the interview questions at the beginning. On each of you answers just give the generic or R&D answer and say williams see your closest rival. If you answer saying your chassis is looking good then it will be better at beginning of game. Hope that makes sense, it is possible to start as the worse.

Jeff should come on radio mentioning a change of strategy and you either accept or decline. But yif you cycle through the MFD you get to a page which has the tyres that will be fitted on the next stop, then you can manually choose which tyres you want fitted. If Jeff doesn't come on radio it will probably be because the 25 plus seconds lost during pit stops wont be made up by changing from slicks to wets or inters especially in the very late stages of race.

Same here! Also when doing a real out lap you can try and time your run to not hit traffic or try and get a tow on a long straight . The amount of times I pressed flying lap and it put me in traffic is ridiculous so I don't bother anymore with that.

Just remember when using fast forward or the return to garage button in pause menu that the AI will qualify faster then they would have done otherwise as the game is guessing there time as opposed to then actually setting a time. I only fast forward when AI are on out laps or in laps, if any on fast lap I dont fast forward (you can tell this form one of the screens when you are on pits).

I use the G29 and have zero problems with settings and changing pedals over and mapping the buttons on the wheel.

I.A drivers do not attempt a quick second lap in the qualifier.
Ukbordoy replied to Gladystonff's topic in Gameplay Issues and Bugs TA
Thats started happening with me I've noticed recently. I play on 50% race with full qualifying. I play on ps4 so not modded. Loads of drivers only seem to do 1 fast lap so those going out a second time are posting faster times so driver like Kimi in Alfa are getting q3 on a more regular basis and Sainz is going out alot more in q3. Seems to skew the qualifying results a little bit i think. -
Wet quali/dry race (or vice versa) what setup does the AI use.
Ukbordoy replied to DutchRacer87's topic in F1 Chat
Would be good to see the AI setups also, like with regards to each race, what are they using for wings, suspension etc. -
Update now live. First thing I've noticed is the audio name I use has been deleted. The game no longer has the name "Ashley" to choose for in game audio. I don't know if this is the same for any other audio names. Very small issue I know, just first thing that I noticed. Vehicle liveries look good though! @BarryBL

They need to intergrate F2 properly within the game. Barry has said its by design that after your f2 season you still get the choice of all f1 teams as they didn't want to limit the choice. I think the f2 season should limit what your choices are in some kind of way. But the introduction of f3 properly would be great

What damage do you set yours on? Are you on simulation? I normally play sim damage but flashbacks on and I do use them for things like major damage or retirement. I'm thinking about turning it off though for the new season I am about to start, maybe just use the mid session save function as my car enters the pits.
-
Don't think some of those times on the first link are right. I got a 1.23.089 last time on Australia with the myteam career car in season 1 (so its not a good car) but it says 110ai time is 1.23.941 which is wring as on 92 AI pole was getting 1.21 or thereabouts.
-
Kind of whats already been mentioned, but I do my P1 P2 and P3 sessions on a base difficulty (92 for me) so I'm used to driving on that specific track. I then go on to GP mode and use one shot qualifying as Bottas. I then compare my time to hamilton and adjust difficulty as appropriate and try again until its a very close time, might take 2/3 goes. Then when go back on to career mode I use that difficultly for that track for qualy and race. Usually works for me and don't remember having many problems with it I dont adjust my difficulty using my career performance as the cars for all teams wear down at different rates and also my second driver isn't that good at the moment.
-
I've had some quite good incidents happen in my races. One great one is Vettel ujdersteering at Bahrain and going straight in to Hamilton. Both had damage with vettel on the wall but not dnf, caused a safety car in lap 1! Now that's what I'm talking about, so good.
-
And also wear of parts as that will slow cars down at varying rates.
-
In my first race on My Team my car had a DRS failure so I couldn't open it for quite a few laps. Or are you talking more failures causing retirement?
-
Its hard to compare track to track if you are on My Team or driver career as the cars degrade track to track with different components wearing at different rates and components being changed by different drivers and different times. You would have to go on grand prix mode every single time, do one shot qualifying a few times to see if you are in the right area for AI difficultly. I also find they race worse then they qualify so I need to up the AI level about 5 points when going in to the race.
-
I'm able to change from my customer setup to the 5 default setups that are there (although that might just be changing front wing level). When I'm next on i'll see what settings I can change on my custom setup, if its everything I'll report, could just be wing though.

Missing Commentary in Practice and Qualifying
Ukbordoy replied to Hengz's topic in Gameplay Issues and Bugs TA
yeah no commentary for the free practice and qualifying introductions on ps4 v1.04
