It's getting late in the development to add anything not already being worked on; and frankly 2021 will be the next game I get of the franchise unless something mind blowing comes out in the 2020 game. (I'm still not very far in 2019, but loving it.) But anyway since other threads are full and talking 2020 I thought I'd start fresh with and with mostly ideas for career mode. Give the player options of a Short-Medium-Long career mode play through. Short- straight to F1 and player chooses any team. Medium- Basically the 2019 career mode with the story mode F2 season with more scenarios. (5 vs. 3 or something) Have the players results in the previous scenarios effect the final Championship scenario instead of coming in tied on points regardless of the players results in the previous 2 events. Player can pick any F1 team; contracts affected by performance in the story mode. Long- Career starts with a story mode rookie year of F2 with 6-8 scenarios where players results affect the next scenario. At the end of this story mode the player will then run a full season of F2. Results from that season and driver academy will then affect what rides are made available; but you are basically guaranteed to not be with a top team. Cut scenes extended throughout the career in Medium and Long careers. Interaction with Weber and Butler (or whomever if character names are changed with I'd be pro so there's one less element of just repeat process from previous games. In long career you should have several cut scenes during your full season of F2 In both medium and long careers you should have a "good number" of cut scenes your rookie year of F1 to keep the banter going and make the player care about the story more. In both medium and long careers there should be sporadic cut scenes all the way throughout career mode whenever there is a direct battle or incident with the story mode drivers; not 100% replacing the news clippings but adding to. (Makes news clippings more interesting in your mind when you know real interaction is still a possibility.) Cut scenes with real F1 drivers. Perhaps set up a few to use in F1 rookie year, with an interaction with your new F1 team mate before FP1 in Australia, and a few drivers throughout with encouragement or frustration depending on your driving style. Then after rookie year, be much more rare but possible if there was an incident that caused some sort of major damage. Player getting a voice and getting to choose between different lines of dialog in the cut scenes with the story mode characters. (To decrease amount of dialog needed to be recorded from real F1 drivers, maybe make only dialog options for player in confrontation with real world driver is at end of the scene to be apologetic or passive. Calendar changes. Allow dates to swap between tracks in career mode to reduce some of the repetitiveness of multi seasons in career mode. Make an option for there to be track swaps and if player selects yes, then maybe a (recent) historical track may replace a race on the calendar. Like maybe Hockenheim comes back on the schedule and replaces Russia. Or maybe Malaysia replaces China, etc. Additionally maybe it could be an option that even if the player selects yes, they can still pick their 3-5 favorite circuits and those circuits will then become safe from being replaced in their career mode. Practice programs. I know that some are complaining about how they have been the same for several years; but as a first year player they are great and I'm not sure how you could make those better. HOWEVER perhaps in your 1st year of F1 you have the full current practice modes; but in future season you actually simplify them in parts check, Q run, race pace as the mandatory sessions to get full R&D points. Have the Track acclamation, separate fuel run, separate tire run, all be 100% optional with no penalty for failing to complete after season one EXCEPT, when their is a new circuit then perhaps all programs become mandatory in order to get full R&D points. Fast forward glitch. This has been a legacy glitch that the AI, especially later in career modes, find extraordinary speed during sim times of when the player fast forwards or ends a session early or even just in the garage. This needs to be addressed in the next 2 games 100% (hopefully fixed for 2020) Make their sim times match what the cars are actually able to do when played through in real time! Custom weather. I personally love realistic and random weather; but unfortunately the random isn't always realistic as sometimes the player gets hammered with lots of rain races in a row. So giving the player the option that can be adjusted for each weekend to change the weather to 'Realistic, Random, Dry, Wet, Mixed' to adjust some of that out of the game would be great. And it also gives an option to some players (perhaps younger) that just want a dry career. Maybe some want punishment and want to be wet all the time. (Note in my mind the difference in Realistic weather and Random weather in the menu would be Realistic would be a weight number generator based on location and time of year of what the weather most likely would be. Random would be an even chance number generator for any weather event to occur. So Bahrain could be heavy rain as easily as clear and sunny; while realistically chance of rain vs sun is incredibly low) A different Lead Engineer for each team (different Jeff's). It's a small thing that breaks immersion of realism that no matter where you go Jeff tags along. I know it would be a pain to have 10 different voice actors do the same engineer lines; but it would certainly add something for the player as you would feel more like you truly moved teams. (Maybe if you can hire a voice after that does... well, voices, that actor could voice 5-6 different accents and characters for the game and not be the cost of hiring separate actors..) Livery updates season to season. I know this probably something incredibly hard to get approved, but if the liveries of the cars could change, even slightly from season to season the game would continue to feel fresh. Deteriorating AI driver attributes. The AI drivers rankings should change in career mode based on age at start of career mode and then change each year. Meaning if a drivers peak driving age statistically is 30 (idk if true but find that age best to build into the game) drivers in career mode under 30 should get better each season, peaking at 30 if they reach that in the 10 year career, and then once you hit 30 your AI rankings start to slowly decrease. With the cars changing performance, and the drivers changing performance each season would be exciting and could drive more interesting driver transfers. I think the idea originally with driver transfers was to have Lewis and other fall down the field. But instead Lewis was always the best driver so he transferred to what ever car was the best no matter where it started out on the game. (Before the logic was adjusted) So if Lewis is getting slightly worse maybe you can't just always stay in what ever the best car is and you can go back a little bit on the logic to get more driver moves. Driver retirements. Have some of the older drivers retire (player choice yes or no) after 2 seasons and then "randomly" throughout the career mode and replaced with real life F2 drivers. Driver confidence. Perhaps have a driver confidence rating that slightly boosts from their total AI rating if they do things like score points in a car in the lower half of the grid, podium in a car not in the top 3 best on paper, or finish above projected position for multiple weeks in a row. Take away from their total AI rating is they have DNF, have a crash, don't score points in a top half of the grid car, etc. This affecting their performance would be true to real life, add effect not just tied to the car. HOWEVER for this to not just end up being an infinite loop of confidence, or loop of losing confidence this feature would need to be tied to: Car-track compatibility rankings. Each car should not just be ranked overall, but would be ranked track to track and maybe Ferrari would be best ranked car for Monza and Spa, while Red Bull is especially good at the street circuits, and Mercedes is good at both and especially excels at everything in between. There's already a lot of levels that play into car ranking that should make this easy to tap into, I just think it needs to be more profound so that a driver in the #1 car can't just get the "big head" and become unbeatable. As their car will eventually mis-match a circuit and likely put an end to their gaining confidence; or their car is good at a track and breaks their streak of losing confidence. VERY important these 2 would be in tandem.

    In NASCAR Heat games if you verify with your account that you are older than 21 you get all the alcohol sponsors and paint schemes in the game. I don't know if they could do something similar in F1 where if you age and location verify you could get the tobacco affiliated and alcohol sponsors in the game. (21 should be a safe universal age though I know international law differs and then geo locate to block in places where there is a hard ban. Not something worth putting many resources into, but an idea that maybe they could get to and explore eventually.

    It's not worth the time investment to code that into the game. Don't use them if you don't want to use them. If you have a self control problem, use the game as a way to overcome it. Win, win.

Can you pick one track/grand prix multiple times in a custom calendar, ie Austria twice and Silverstone twice if we want to try to best replicate the real 2020 season, or if we just love Spa and want to go there 3 times in 10 races? If that's not something included at launch, it would make a good patch, along side or perhaps just adding the 2nd Grand Prix at such tracks as a new event that can be selected when making a calendar.

    Yes... Allow calendar changes with the modern circuits. Make it a yes/no slider and allow user to pick favorite circuits to put those off limit from being subbed out. And then on top of that have the custom calendar option that is being put in F1 2020.

    This is exactly why I think combining could be good. Once you feel you've run your course in career mode as a driver (next game?) Create your team and do the team building with or without the driving (sim sessions). Would go much quicker wirhout, so expand available seasons; and no lose progress in the game team progressions and driver transfers. Would feel like a Stewart it Prost career simulator. (Continued play) If you wanted to do a simultaneous owner driver from the start and drive for existing team if it's one mode; just have multiple career mode saves.

    I'm hoping that in the future that Codies acquiring the Project Cars studio (not googling it) that there will find a way to start transferring certain assets; specifically any laser scanned circuits; other built circuits like Donnington Park, Imola; and other layouts of circuits like Barcelona and Silverstone. And then also the classic versions of Spa and Monza. Perhaps next Gen consoles will allow universally some of these larger assets and be worth bridging differences in the games.

    Now this I get behind. I hope in the future they do combine career and my team and maybe extend to like 15 or maybe even 20 seasons to be able to fully experience all aspects the game has. Personally, I'd like to see them add an option to retire as a driver but still run your team and hire 2 drivers and just sim the on track stuff. If the my team portion is properly meaty it'd be a fun way to transition, especially later in the game cycle IMO.

    Looking at YouTube videos, F1 2020 will have the standard physics and handling mode and an arcade handling mode heavier on the assists.
  11. Since we have learned very early that Sainz will replace Vettel and Riccardo will take over at McLaren in 2021; is there any way that Codemasters can code this real life driver transfer into year 2 of F1 career mode (2021 season)?

    Help with Manual Starts

    This comment is subjective to better players feedback but... I leave in standard mix for take off and crank it up after I get rolling or T1 to rich depending on circuit and I seem to do ok Perhaps being in rich mix, too much power too quick and too much wheel spin? Also I have TC, so maybe that deadens not matter what I do. But the way game mechanics work if I were producing wheel spin for TC to catch them I'd still be slow to accelerate off the line as it just wouldn't allow power transfer.

    Dropping from 100% to 50% Races

    It takes me about 3 hours to do a GP weekend at 50% race because I am new to franchise and still learning all the tracks. So very active in P1 & P2; not so much in P3 to save gearbox.. and then full Q. Usually 1 run in Q1, 1 of 2 in Q2, and then just one in Q3. 50% race... 3 hrs and physical exhaustion from going flat out most of that time.

    Practice Sessions

    You can change the fuel load in the car setup screen and go out and run as heavy as you want for basically as long as you want... Just not while doing a practice program. In my season 2 of career mode I'm doing more heavy runs to get a feel and rhythm because I was rubbish in the first half of 50% races.
  15. I have 'pit options' mapped to a button, and I would highly recommend that. From there yes, make sure you have wing change to no or auto. Or to yes if you feel like you are losing too much time, as I've felt auto isn't auto enough sometimes and I want that new front wing.

    Are you overheating the engine? (I believe the game generates more engine heat in rich mix, though I believe lean mix IRL would be more likely to create additional engine heat)

    DNF Issue

    Just watched one of Aarva's 2019 career mode videos where he crashes out of the Grand Prix and it is shown that Butler hits him and breaks his suspension, meaning Butler should have DNF'd from the Grand Prix as well. However in the 2nd cut screen you see Butler has finished 2nd in the Grand Prix! It appears if you DNF, all AI involved in the incident are given a free pass and the game treats it as none of the AI were involved, just you! This is something that badly needs a solution for F1 2020 if not at launch then in an early patch! 12:32

    Manager mode

    I feel it is incredibly likely that the races themselves will not be manageable as a 3rd party. Judging off releases, and that's why they want to make you the driver. I hope to be wrong as well. But what I really hope, in the least, is that they will make all sessions sim'able and have the sim'ing of races be fair to the player's character/team, which isn't true in past titles. I don't think it'd be too much to ask to put in that you can hire 1 driver and drive yourself or just hire 2 drivers at any time and sim races. Asking to be able to import data from a "standard career" is a big ask I know, but it would put the game over the top being able to link modes in this way to continue game play. Last note for now, I fully hope driver transfers are a thing in My Team, because there would be a lot of fun to be had in bidding on drivers to come to your team vs. others and watching the grid change in this way.

    F1 2020 Original vs Post-Covid Season

    Actually... with the announcement yesterday is "kind of, sort of, not really, but close." As you can customize 10 or 16 race schedules. So you may not be able to 100% recreate the actual 2020 season; but you may be able to create and play one close to. Honestly, I'm not sure why, given that we can make custom schedules, we can't just pick any number we want to from 1 to 22. Surely it would not have added that many more loops and line of code once the extra was put in for 10 & 16.

    Manager mode

    Things I hope to see in the My Team: I don't want to be forced to drive the car myself; and if sim is an option I hope the sim software is fair to the player; unlike where if you sim in career mode the result doesn't match what you could have done and teams are out of place. Ability to manage the race "from pit lane" instead of simply sim'ing the sessions. Because as I said, I feel like I want to treat this like a true manager game and not be driving my own car. Ability, if you do decide to drive, to retire and hire a 2nd driver and be managing both drivers races. (Even if sessions are only sim-able and not manageable I'd like to see the ability to retire and run 2 drivers) It would be fantastic if the My Team could be linked to the standard career mode in the sense of car development progression and driver transfers. (Player choosing to import from a career mode save or new career with standard 2020 teams and performance) I want those things because how I would really like to play this game is to be a Prost or Stewart career simulator. I'd like to drive in F1 independently with other teams and then when I retire as a driver I can jump straight into my team and build the new team on the grid. Being able to do so with the data of my career mode save being brought over, so it organically feels like I retired and became a team principal for a new team in that same universe would make this game incredibly next level. Allow the option for me chose if I want to drive a year or 2 for my own team before retiring as a driver, or allow me jump straight into it as a retired driver and hire 2 drivers. I know this could be a good bit of work knowing that not a lot of people necessarily want to play it this way (play one mode, and then import data to continue game play in another mode); but I feel if this option were there a good number of people would be into it. We've heard a lot of this passively as the game gets stale after a few seasons of career or the end of season 10 is unsatisfactory; but packaging it this way would really allow you do a lot more in the game (and stay fresh) without discarding all the work you have already put into the game.

    F1 2020 game release date

    There's zero reason to be against the feature to add a car performance slider to select between Real and Equal; since that has been built into the game online and shouldn't take much effort from CM to code into offline. Don't want equal cars, don't select it. Yes, you could turn AI down to run any car and be able to win; but you'd have to monkey around with the AI setting for every car. Be easier for the player to get a more consistent and therefor better experience to just be able to set the cars to equal performance. More options, the broader audience you can sell to or keep happy. The only limitation to "more options" is when things become difficult to code and take to much time or would make the storage space of the game unreasonable.

    F1 setups

    TT is low fuel, full ERS, and MAX fuel on soft tires that don't wear. You add fuel, back down the power, and then add less grippy tires and it becomes more boat like in comparison.
  23. We all know wet weather racing is a challenge in the game because of AI grip. But does anyone have some general setup advice on in game wet weather setups? From dry to inters, how many clicks of each wing is recommended? (full wet?) Is raising you're cars ride height in wet conditions seemingly effective? How many clicks from dry to wet set up for front and rear? (inters and full wet?) Diff adjustments both on and off throttle? Anything else you can offer to help a novice (full tc and abs) career mode player? (I've adjusted AI strength and been ok at some wet races, but still horridly slow and all over at others.)

    F3 in the game?

    I really liked the inclusion of F2 in the game, but I don't feel like it was properly utilized. F3 would be cool and all; but I hope they work on other issues like qual sim times, and utilizing F2 in a meaningful way into the career mode (as an option). Personally I would not mind seeing the F1 franchise turn into FIA Formula racing where the game is expanded into a true career progression through different formula series and eventually getting to F1. But, I think they are a few years from really considering that. {But now that codies owns Project Cars maybe that's the game that can be the FIA Formula game (plus sports cars, etc.) with added official licenses for cars, drivers, and tracks, but less strict about the focus on F1 season by season that the F1 franchise could be.
