Is there an "All of the Above" option? 🙂 Personally, I like all 4 of those options, though I have to agree with TheEmpireWasRight, being able to customize the steering wheel and hud would be my top pick of the 4.

That would be a great addition. It would basically just need to send a recording of what just happened in the game. That's certainly doable, since it records for the replay. It would just need to be more detailed, to provide the Devs with the data they need to find the bugs. Not sure whether this is even feasible (I'm not a game coder) but it sounds like a great plan.

I'd be surprised if they don't have an option for a 1v1 race. That's the main point of split screen. 🙂

I have a 1968 Pontiac with a 350 that I built a few years back. Pretty much stock, with headers, but the block and heads are from a 96 Vortec, so she puts out about 330 hp.

It depends a great deal on what the "bug" is. If the game freezes, or something loads that shouldn't, or some other chunk of the code does something wrong, then yes, an error report can certainly help. But in this context, it would be impossible to create an error scenario for every possible combination of things that might happen. If you, as a player, notice that an AI car is jerking around the track, that might not cause an error code to be thrown, but it's certainly a bug in the game. Being able to tell the Devs exactly what was happening at the time, AND (ideally) what JUST happened, will help narrow down those possibilities and (hopefully) find the issue.

feature request for the F1 game? show track sectors

Sorry. I just meant not having to go from the timing screen to the live map screen. -
feature request for the F1 game? show track sectors
DrDraken replied to DavidCopperTop's topic in General Discussion
They should just have the live map, with sector markers, on the same screen as the timings for each driver. Then you can see, in "real time" as the other cars go around the track, and see their times as they do so. No more switching to another tab. -
Dude! You're Canadian? Sweet! And Congrats!! That's impressive!

And for those people who say, "Just find the error in the code," remember that there are MILLIONS of lines of code. Like many many many millions. That would be like trying to find the number sequence 032834 in the phone book. Yeah, it's in there somewhere, but it would take you a year to find it. And when you did, you'd have to find every one of them, to ensure you got all the bugs. If you show them a video, it narrows the possibilities down significantly, and gives the devs a much clearer idea of where to look, and what to look for.

So... you get to hang out with the teams... and the cars... every year... DO YOU NEED AN ASSISTANT?!

And oftentimes the mid-field fights are the most exciting!

Good point.

Great article. Lots more detail than I went into. But many of the same points. The fact that the game car doesn't feel like a real car is the biggest issue that Codemasters has to overcome. How they do that is up to them, but they first have to decide to take that path. Even if it takes another two years of development on the side by a dedicated "physics handling" team, at least it would show they are serious about it. The camera debate should be a moot point. If you're an eSports racing driver, get in the car. Turn off the assists that don't exist in real life. The proximity arrows ... I think they're actually useful, considering you can't easily move your head or eyes to look sideways, and the mirrors are useless. My one question is: During an actual eSports event (not these online "virtual grands prix") are the racers not all in the same place, on equal setups hooked directly to the LAN? Please tell me they don't hold professional-level events where people dial in from MacDonalds.
-
Agreed. If it's actually going to be an eSport, it has to be cockpit view, no assists, etc. But that picture of Max out the back of his car is just frikkin hilarious! 🤣
-
Oh, it's absolutely enough. I'm just wise enough to realize that there are a lot better drivers out there. And that's ok. 🙂
-
I would race in this league. (and get my arse handed to me 🤣 )
-
If they want to stay in business, they need to keep selling the game. That means appealing to the wide audience. But if they want F1 to be an eSport, they need to fix the "unreality" of the driving experience. As you say, no racing game should be harder or easier to race in. Adding assists to help new or weak players is fine, as that helps with sales and creates a wider audience. But the driving in the game needs to be as close to real driving as possible.

F1 2019 Brazil - Track Limits and Invalid lap
DrDraken replied to Pin6all_Wizard's topic in General Discussion
Unfortunately, until the game becomes properly accurate, you have to learn to "game the game" and find these weirdnesses. Keep in mind that, while some bite you, others allow you more freedoms... -
I did a 50% race the other day and then watched the replay. I came 6th, but I was watching the battle for 1st. Hamilton was stuck behind a back marker who went past 7 blue flags before finally moving over.
-
This is actually the entire reason I avoid online racing. My first and only online race was a lesson in how pathetic some people really are. 😕
-
I'm still hopeful for a true-to-life mode where the ERS charging and deployment are programmed by the team (player) according to the track, conditions, etc. Plus overtake button. Because the AI are starting to become aware that they do not get penalties for ignoring blue flags. 😉

Please add more info on the steering wheel screen [R2]

Codies, please find one of your super geeks and get them working on this. 🙂 -
My friend did a great experiment for a class in university. He went to a mall, set up a plain table with a rock on it with a hand-written sign that read: "Rock: $5" No one bought the rock. The next week he went back to the same mall, same place, with the same table and rock. Only this time, he had a nice white table cloth, and a fancy box on which he placed the rock. Beside that he had a sign (professionally made) that read: "Rare Igneous Conglomerate: $49.99" Sold in 10 minutes. "Smartfood" popcorn is NOT smart food. But dumb people, really are. 🤣

I have two. I honestly can't tell you which I prefer. For driving, I suppose Spa wins out a bit, but Silverstone will always have a place in my heart. There's something about that track that feels like home - and being the location of the inaugural F1 race certainly lends weight!

I know what you mean about not being able to throw the car into the corner. It may also be that your front wing angle is too low. Have you looked at setup options for Australia? It really does make a difference, and once you get the front and rear wings dialed in, the car actually starts to behave... somewhat. 🙂
