On that topic, I find it amazing Jeff’s been able to keep his job after all these years, yet Devon Butler got axed after a single season

Similar question, just starting with “Why”...

Not good enough in 2020, imo - particularly if you’ve just raced for 1.5hrs, it’d be nice to be able to come back to review the replay at a later date. I’ll be very surprised if you get one... And on the very remote chance that you do, odds are the explanation will be simply “by design” 🤨
-
Not many do. They did a good job of sweeping it under the rug with lots of legalese but you should look it up. Makes for interesting reading.. I look forward to your post 🤙🏽

🤨 I think you’re very much mistaken

Yeah I probably would pay up for a “season” DLC. Certainly much more chance of me spending money on that than the podium pass BS which appeals not one iota. Before that happens though, I’d really like to see them stop taking the absolute **** by removing things year on year (The young driver test from the early games for example) which worked fine & added to the overall experience for seemingly no reason whatsoever. It’d also be an absolute wet dream if they’d stop treating customers like fools by making silly claims like it takes a whole year to develop a new track when other studios & indeed even independent modders are able to knock out new tracks (ok, not for this game but the techniques used are the same if not much more advanced) not only faster but in most cases more accurate representations of that which they’re trying to depict than Codies is seemingly able to do - despite the level of access they’re granted through having an exclusive licence. That alone (Nevermind the incident a few years back where they ripped a car model from someone else to include in the game & only came clean about it when they original creator of the model kicked up a stink about it..) to me completely contradicts the name above the door of their studio & makes their representatives spouting such drivel look as dumb as they sound, irking my feeble little brain so very much more than any of the bugs they can’t seem to squash could ever hope to do. Speaking of the bugs, Don’t even get me started about the ones which carry over from one game to the next 😒 Credit where it’s due, the game has improved over the years & for that at least I take my hat off to Codies for their efforts - I’m not wearing a hat atm tho, just to be clear - But the flip side of that coin, when coupled with the various gripes I’ve stated above is that it very much seems to be a quite severe case of indifference or apathy towards giving customers the very best iteration of the game it can possibly be year in, year out than it is a case of them being ignorant/oblivious or perhaps even incompetent to rectify the increasingly well documented issues present in their products. Speaking just for myself obvs, but I think Codies’ is luckier than Pierre Gasly at Monza to have that exclusive licence in their back pocket because if they had even a little competition from another studio - they’d have to produce something truly remarkable to make me consider parting with any more $$ than I already have. Just my 2c. Clearly I’m very bored & more than a little frustrated, but you catch my drift 🤓

I am frustrated I cant tell (lap times, manual gearing)
Guga_Cyr replied to vTeritron's topic in F1 Chat
Ok, similar situation here in that you miss a lot of apexes & generally don’t open up the angle of the corner by maximising the width of the track on exit... You do hit more apexes on this lap than the Zandvoort one - particularly turns 10 & 13 which are far & away the most difficult on this particular track to get right. Keep at it, but do try to focus more on the line you’re taking into, through & out of every corner before moving onto improving how you manipulate the controls as this is where you’ll find the biggest improvement in lap time 😉 -

Guga_Cyr replied to vTeritron's topic in F1 Chat
Thought I’d weigh in here as no one seems to have mentioned it which boggles my mind given how blatantly obvious it is! On this particular lap @ Zandvoort, with the exception of turns 11, 12, 13 & 14 you’re completely missing the apex of each & every corner - even with the racing line on. It’s even more noticeable with the T-cam than it is in cockpit view because of just how much more of the track you can see. Further compounding the problem is you’re then not using all the available track exiting each corner which is actually where you gain time as exiting corners faster means you’re faster down the following straight. I’ve stated as much in another thread but my advice would be to forget lap times altogether (for now). It really makes no difference until you’re up the sharp end of the leaderboard to be comparing lap times with others. So in essence, slow your roll (pace) all the way down to a point you’re able to stick to the ideal racing line. Focus almost exclusively on learning the line into, through & out of every corner, Because until you’re on the ideal line all the way around the lap, it’s absolutely pointless trying to master gearing, braking/throttle application etc because I’m willing to bet the house that I don’t own on the fact that in doing so you’re creating bad habits that’ll be an additional challenge to unlearn when you are on the correct line because you’ll no doubt find where, when & how much you need to brake, accelerate or even change gear will be completely different. The reason I say all this is that you’re going down the completely wrong path thinking changing gears, braking or accelerating better will improve your lap time more than being on the ideal line through each corner will. I’m going to watch your Bahrain vid next, but I urge you to follow the above advice & then turn off the racing line once you’ve learned which way the track goes (as well as all other assists that you’re comfortable with asap) in favour of turning lap after lap after lap. After lap. The advantage we have in playing a game is that any mistakes made don’t have the serious repercussions that they do in real life. Not to mention the fact that we don’t have to pay for tyres & fuel ✌ -
My pedals wear socks. Highly recommend 😇

Hadn’t seen that thread before, thx for sharing 🤙🏽

LOLOLOL another one for the list, eh? 😇

Agreed - there just isn’t enough variety. You’ll have heard everything there is to hear after just a few hrs of playing... 🙄

This game is a joke. Anything to say code"masters"?
Guga_Cyr replied to zZ A M P Aa's topic in F1 Chat
Pointless tagging codies’ twitter accounts I rkn - you’re better off tagging the actual F1 account, maybe a few teams & if you can swing it, the personal accounts of some higher ups at liberty/FOM.... With an exclusive licence deal in their back pocket, Codies have no motivation whatsoever to lift their game 🤷🏽♂️ -
360 is the sweet spot. Any less & the car is overly twitchy, any more & you might as well be driving a boat 🚤
-
Depends on your pace with the low fuel mix I reckon - e.g. If you’re relatively quick with the fuel mix on low, then under fuelling the car makes sense. But because you’re starting 6th, not 1st, and you only got pole by a tenth, you’d wanna get ahead of the cars in front asap so they’re not dictating your pace, otherwise you’re gunna be pretty busy squabbling to properly manage the fuel burn. That said, Singapore has SO many corners you can lift & coast into you might just be able to get away with it... Personally I hate getting up the sharp end only to drop down the order as the race wears on because I have to save fuel so typically I just fill ‘er right up & go flat out from lights to flag 🤠 🔴🔴🔴🔴🔴🏎️💨💨💨🏁

Question about tyre management in short qualification (18m mins)

Set a faster lap on the 2nd set -
I hate the (lack of) scenery, but think Paul Ricard is a really good challenge. Might seem counter intuitive, but try reducing your pace to the point where you’re able to lap relatively consistently & without ever leaving the racing line. If you can do that, then you can start chasing a faster lap time by getting on the throttle earlier & smoother coming out of corners because you’re already on the best line into & through it. Relying on “muscle memory” is a dead end, imo. One little thing i.e. you pinch the inside front under braking & all of a sudden you’re lost at sea because muscle memory stops you from adapting to the situation. Doing a 100% race distance paying no attention to your lap times or position on the leaderboard also helps.
-
Then comes the league race, where tyre wear & fuel burn is a thing, you have cars firing off in every direction because the practice they’ve done in time trial doesn’t factor these elements of racing into the equation 🙄 Dad? 😜
-
Long story short, yes. Some things aren’t an issue (like logos) but generally speaking any changes to the car or track files ain’t allowed online.

Love your passion @FIE, keep it up 🤙🏽

Better yet, add it to replays too

I agree. And yet..... here we are.

Car not automatically selecting 1st gear when Clutch is engaged for manual start
Guga_Cyr posted a topic in Gameplay Issues and Bugs TA
Curious to know if anyone else has experienced this bug. I’ve searched the forum but can’t find any mention of it. If it has been reported someone pls direct me to the thread? This bug has occurred intermittently for me on both F1 2019 (PS4) & now F1 2020 (PC) since launch right up to the current 1.08 patch. When I’m on the grid (for the formation lap & race start) the car should automatically go into 1st gear (from neutral) once the clutch has been engaged & the revs rise above a certain RPM. Launching the car is then simply a matter of releasing the clutch when the lights go out & away we goooooo.... This is the normal “manual” start behaviour the game is supposed to have (correct me if I’m wrong). Anyway, the bug I’m experiencing stops the car from automatically selecting first gear. For the formation lap this is no biggie as the game actually will let me manually select 1st & then I can launch the car as normal by releasing the clutch when the car ahead starts to move. For the actual race start though, the game will only let me manually select first gear (whether the clutch is engaged or not doesn’t matter) after the lights have gone out AND the clutch has been disengaged Worse still, The game will happily give me a jump start penalty if I disengage the clutch before the lights have gone out but while the car is still sitting in neutral so obviously cannot have moved. Many, many rage quits have thus ensued Interestingly, the bug never affects launching the car after a pit stop - presumably because the gear displayed is “P”. OK, So it’s not a “game breaking” bug, but it IS frustrating as hell - particularly as it seems to happen without any rhyme or reason. Sometimes I don’t see it occur for weeks & other times I’m having to play around it for weeks. Funnily enough, I did not experience it once during the beta. Note: I’ve previously been able to get the manual starts working properly again (1st gear is selected automatically once the clutch is engaged & the revs rise above a certain rpm) by going into controller settings via the pause menu & enabling the default g29 profile & then enabling my desired - customised - profile again straight after. Unfortunately this “workaround” stopped working around the time of the black Mercedes patch... Will edit this post in a lil bit to include the proper bug report template & a vid of it happening.
