2 New Car Smell
  1. Respectfully, I think you forget that the Ferrari was not the only championship-winning car that Barrichello had the opportunity to drive - remember, he was Button's teammate during the 2009 winning season of Brawn GP... He came close, but Jenson ended up being champion...

I might be wrong, but I strongly suspect that those changes of AI pace are due to their use of ERS. Often, at the beginning of a race, they will set their ERS on "4" or "5" (by the way, THEIRS last much much longer than OURS, but that's another thing), meaning that they will be considerably faster than us. Then, at some point, they have to go dial down to economy mode (most of the time "1", sometimes "2") and of course WE end up being faster than them. To me, this explains (partly) the inconsistent AI pace (compared to ours) during one same race.
  3. @BarryBL I didn't use it because, well, it didn't seem very relevant to me... But sure, with pleasure ^^ 1. A description of the issue. Please include any error codes here. After the last Abu Dhabi GP, my team Renault and Ferrari ended up having the very same amount of points (575). In real life, such a tie is decided by the number of victories (and if tie again, then 2nd places, and so on). Renault had 10 wins, Ferrari 9... Therefore Renault should have been declared Champion, and I should have received a Constructors Trophy at the end of the season. Instead, the game failed to understand that the season was over, and that Renault won by their number of wins. It just... "skipped" the Constructors championship's result altogether. 2. What version of the game you are using (Shown on the start screen in the bottom left corner of the screen) Version 1.22 3. Game-mode? Career. 4. Are you able to recreate the issue? If so, please include recreation steps on how you encountered this issue. Given the issue, this might prove difficult... This whole tie-situation looks like a Hollywood racing movie... 🙂 5. How often do you see this problem? Is it the only time or does it always happen? Only happened once in all my career seasons... 6. Have you tried any troubleshooting? We recommend the steps here as a starting point for any issues. Please let us know what troubleshooting methods you have tried while creating this post. N/A 7. Any accessories you are using (gamepad, wheel etc) Racing with a keyboard. 8. Any screenshots or video of the issue? If the video is long, please include a timestamp for when the issue appears. (That's actually a good improvement idea: unlike the Drivers standings, there are no Constructors standings for each season...) Screenshot 1: Standings at the end of Season 3 (I let you do the math). Screenshot 2: my personal trophies, without the Constructors championship that my team Renault just won.
  4. I think we forgot Carlos Reutemann, who could have been the 1st world champion for Williams but missed his shot with a bit of misfortune... And of course Michele Alboreto, who competed on the same terms with Alain Prost during most of the 1985 season, and who (I think) suffered from a lack of reliability from his Ferrari (I might be wrong on this). Ferrari was never in the run after that (not until 1990) and Alboreto missed his shot... I respectfully disagree about most drivers quoted here, because most of them actually HAD the chance of driving a winning car (Berger, DC, Barrichello, not-quoted-yet-Fisichella...), or racing for teams that had just won championships (Alesi & Berger again in 1996...), but they didn't manage to take these cars to the title. So on the contrary, the brutal conclusion (the "sports" one) is that they were not good enough 😶 Give the right car to a champion material, and he WILL be champion - guaranteed. To me, the recent guys who showed the talent to become champion and came reeaaaaally close to it, would rather be drivers like Montoya (2003, would have been champion if Williams-BMW had been more reliable), Massa (2008... Singapour-gate ?), and of course Mark Webber (2010 and the incredible Abu Dhabi 4-contendents-finish) 😉
  5. Hi, I had a funny "bug" during Season 3 in career : after the last Abu Dhabi GP, my team Renault and Ferrari ended up having the very same amount of points (570 each I believe). Not a real "bug", but I found funny that the game couldn't deal with such a tie - not a very likely one, I agree. Nevertheless, something needs to be fixed regarding points calculation, wouldn't you say ?

I thought it was just me I usually play around 94-95% (career mode), with a keyboard, therefore with "half assists" (TC medium+ABS). At Paul Ricard, I can be as fast as the AI (if not faster by 1/10th) in Sector 1 and 2, but I generally lose about 1s just in the last sector... In my observations (but I might be wrong), the AI seems ridiculously fast exiting Turn 8 (the long right after Signes) but MOSTLY Turn 12 (final hairpin). Nothing I can do in Quali, but in race I generally use the ERS in this portion, hoping I can keep up... From a balance point of view, there are some tracks where the AI is, well... not very well balanced 🙂 : we will generally "overpower" them in Montreal, Spielberg, Spa or Monza, and they will be on another planet in Budapest (Sector 3), Suzuka (Sector 1 & 3) or Singapour (the first long straight in Sector 1). But again, those are my observations in career, and I can be completely wrong.
  7. I ask the question here, since it's difficult to find relevant answers through search engines... I play Career mode on 94%-95% difficulty, with realistic tyre wear and so on... My 3 first years were at Renault's and the AI opposition was perfectly realistic - except for my teammate Ricciardo, completely lost during 3 seasons. I finished 6th at the championship on my first year, and won 2 titles the following years, with a total of 19 poles and 19 wins, and making Renault the best R&D team (but not maxed out yet). And all of this with a consistent and "realistic" AI opposition (for a 94%-95% level). Deciding for a new challenge, I switched to McLaren for Season 4, as they were the 4th best R&D team at the end of the previous season... Bad luck : starting Season 4, McLaren has fallen next-to-last in R&D... (but no big deal, I wanted precisely this kind of challenge) But now begin the inconsistencies : my McLaren teammate (Weber) qualifies regularly between P4 and P8 - where I struggle to get into Q2 In Bahreïn, I qualified P10, but there were only a 0,188s gap between P1 and P9... (so they basically all did the same time, give or take...) in China (one of my very good track), my teammate qualified 1,5s ahead of me, who was... P19, 3s behind the pole (so pretty much nowhere ^^) during those Season 4 races, the AI finally got this magical power back that it had in F1 2018 (at 95% difficulty) : the super-rockets and super-brakes allowing them to get out of the corners at the speed of light, coming into a breaking zone at the speed of light, breaking at the 50m signal at 340 km/h, getting the corner perfectly right (what? coming waaay to fast? naaah...), and getting out of it at the speed of light again (I'm genuinely surprised that their exhausts don't spit fire or anything) I get that the "solution" - let's call it a "workaround" - to that issue would simply be to dial down the AI difficulty (I suppose 80-85% should do it), but that's besides the point: did any of you guys encounter such inconsistencies during a long-term career ? I'm obviously not talking about a maladjusted difficulty at the beginning of a career, but serious inconsistencies that force you to completely redefine the way you play the game...

    Different setups = same time

I play with the keyboard, therefore with many assists (anti-lock brakes ON and TC on medium), so it's easier to be faster... Give me a pad and no assist, and I would probably be incapable of even turning and accelerating ! 😅

    Different setups = same time

Hi all, I'm not here to whine about it, but I'm just reaaaally curious: on time trial in F1 2019 (v1.22), am I the only one who, at some point, gets the very same time even with completely different setups ?? For example, I'm currently working my time trial setup in Hungary with Renault, with those results: hard suspension with HARD bars = 1'17'4 hard suspension with SOFT bars = 1'17'4 SOFT suspension with soft bars = 1'17'4 SOFT suspension with hard bars = 1'17'4 Less wing F/R = 1'17'5 More wing F/R = ... 1'17'5 And I get the same thing on other tracks: at some point, no matter what setup I choose => the time will be more or less the same. It even gets funny! Nevertheless, is there something I misunderstood, or is the game laughing at my face? 😅
