I have been helping fix codi games for along time. let me try and help you . [ I DO NOT WORK FOR CODI BUT I HAVE BEEN A SUPPORTER / HELPER FOR A LONG TIME. ]     Please note that all in this discussion are from my background and knowlegde,      myself or Codemasters will not take responsibility if you choose to attempt anything in this post.                                 IT IS AT YOUR OWN RISK Ok so you suffer from fps drops & stuttering in game ( singleplayer ) in grid 2 & or  autosport. Some questions for you .  Note this Discussion is regarding Windows 7,.. Grid Autosport is W7 & W8. vista users i would recommend upgrading. Q-1. installed via CD/steam ? & installed to master Drive C: ? Q-2. do you run your own antivirus with firewall and not windows ? A-1 : i have for along time pushed the "Theory" that read/write of the game files on the master drive is the main cause for these issues. which is why i never install to master. and it was recently proven by a few nice gamers to reinstall there games to a secondary drive . with steam this can be done with out reinstalling the game. simple click create and copy.  A-2 : since a patch that went through on Grid Autosport my own av firewall was throughing out the game.as always you need to create rules for the game to access the internet.. but time comes when you will also need to edit adjust those rules.    this does also include antivirus applications that give you protection over harddrives / memory access / other features. IT IS AT YOUR OWN RISK.. if you do not know what you are doing. most AV Applications give you the option of "did you install this program your self"? / Trusted. but remember the game is still attempting to connect to the internet.  [ Some people think im having a laugh with this. but it is a true point that modern AV aplications will have "memory access protection" games apon install will automaticly apply for access with windows firewall and other av aplications. but if you use an av that is not supported then it will block some memory access and also C: access . ie reg keys and windows file access. alot of the time game support will just say "have you tried the game with all av disabled" . ] Other Tweaks and options to help you This is to give you an idea of options i will discuss. These game options are from Grid Autosport and are running on : - Intel i7 920 2.6ghz (stock clock) 8 thread 4 core - Asus P6t Deluxe - Corsair hydro h100 - Corsair Dominator 18gb DDR 3 1600mhz - EVGA 760 GTX SC 2Gb   | Drivers currently on :  beta 340.43 DX11 - Creative SoundBlaster x-fi platinum fatal1ty champion series - Samsung 24" 1920x1080 res 2ms monitors x2 (dual) - 3x Samusung 1TB 7200rpm sata II    ( ALL Games are installed to a second 1tb drive )     Vsync is on and perfect 60fps . even whilst recording    Page file is running at 34293mb Optional Tweaks the first thing with freezing / stutters due to FPS is to lower msaa / aa  and the rest. they eat the most gpu power. then its the big list ( worst offenders at the top ) - ambient occlusion - advanced lighting - anisotropic filtering - global illumination - water - ground cover - Smoke shadows you will also notice that i have turned off "Advanced blending (intel)" < one of those "chuck it over the shoulder and get it dead senter of the bin" jobs unless you really want the best of the best and you have a Graphics card from the rambo family. People always say start with turning the resolution down. these days i dont think that is such an issue. but note Pushing an anolog res sa 1280x800 is far easier for graphics cards then pushing  HD Res of 1280x720 or 1920x1080 . even more so depending if you are pusing HD i or p.  Other Tweak 1.   Do not forget you can always run the game in window. this is good if you cant even get the game up and running in fullscreen to start with. go to    C:\Users\-yoru computer name-\Documents\My Games\GRID Autosport\hardwaresettings\Hardware_settings_config xml and set Fullscreen to false and this will allow the game to run in a windowed mode. you can also adjust resolution and other settings in this file if you know what your doing. and you can change ingame options to from your current setting ie if you are on high,. change to medium and second monitor to off. increase your options one by one untill it fails. Other Tweak 2. old codi games had an issue were the mapping of your computer CPU would not be correct in the Hardware_settings_config xml. if you want to check you can open the xml using notepad and check the section "workerMapFile="system/workerMap8Core.xml"  refer to my "Facebook note Fix Grid 2 FPS Dropping" for information about how to edit this. TWEAK 3  [ ADDED 10/07/14 ]  DIRECT X .. is your dx upto date and have you checked ? it suddenly popped into my head from doing the alpha testing with BF were an issue was raised due to this one thing. . you might want to try installed the Dx file. this will update your dx with any changes or tweaks . sometimes helps.  Destination of this file. : YOUR INSTALLATION DIRECTORY  \steamapps\common\GRID Autosport\_CommonRedist\DirectX\Jun2010\DXSETUP.exe although it says JUNE 2010 . this was the last official time dx had to be packed and made available as a download. ( showing age here, pack in the day ) but the files supplyed withing this folder are dx11 x86 and x64 supporting files ..   ADDED NOTE DX11 TO DX10 has been Used by many to fix some lag drops or stutter problems this can be done & its very easy .  as always create a backup before you edit. C:\Users\-yoru computer name-\Documents\My Games\GRID Autosport\hardwaresettings\Hardware_settings_config xml    Within the xml you will need to Find.  <directx forcedx10="false" /> and you need to make this  <directx forcedx10="true" /> . ok ...  for the record. game worked and is beautifull. Untill lastnight.. 04/07/14 patch for Grid Autosport comes down via steam Believe its PN 030714 and now Dead..    Before i could load the game up full screen 1920x1080 60hz on monitor 1. and monitor 2 would be happy on desk top. Now. . load up the game and Black screens on BOTH monitors and audio still working ( some times ) ..  this can also cause my machine to not respond to keyboard mouse or controller,, ie RESTART.. now i have attempted like always to resolve the issue my self. ( i know and have fix many issues with codi games  in the past.) the best i can do to get the game running is to edit C:\Users\-\Documents\My Games\GRID Autosport\hardwaresettings\Hardware_settings_config xml and set Fullscreen to false and this will allow the game to run.. i have tested.. Different resolutions to fullscreen  -- FAIL Minimum Resolutions and Graphic options to Minimum -- FAIL unplugging my second monitor and all on minimum -- FAIL Deactivating all  programs that would require/use Dx Files ( ie bandicam / ts... other then required by os ) -- FAIL. so current point results in ZERO full screen gameplay.. however.. there is a few last options for me to use before i start comparing code. 1. nvidia control panel tweaks 2. the actual game code.. 3. installing the beta drivers for my card. << probly the one i will do first. ( chuckle)  i have looked into this part of the patch Nvidia SLI Fix - Resolved instances of certain SLI configurations causing particle smoke to flicker. Physics Fix - Fixed rare instances of missing physics on detached pieces of vehicle bodywork. Graphical Fix - (DX10) - Resolved DirectX10 compatibility issues which caused particle rendering issues on certain PC configurations. Nvidia 3D VISION Surround Fix - Improved 3D Vision Surround compatibility within cockpit cams when using a triple monitor configuration. UI Fix - (Splitscreen) - Fixed instances of the UI displaying incorrect vehicle information. Plus for the record there is no event log in "event viewer" of any issue regard the game?! .. however i do not currently have the time to do this as my Bills paying job requires me to work. (DOH) as always the pc info is  : Intel i7 920 2.6ghz (stock clock) 8 thread 4 core. Hi @HypoToad‌ .  I use a Microsoft 360 Usb Controller.  Also incase you would like to know i  race with AI on Medium ( would like to change it to hard but as i started my diary on medium i will stick with it) and i drive all events Manual, No track line or assists other then the usual ABS & TCS. :smiley:  Some of the drift events coming i go crazy with mega results :wink:

haha interesting reading some reactions to this. A Very Good Question.. Crowd funding.. Pros : 1. more money can increase ingame content 2. bring more devs into the build 3. also better future stucture for the company cons : 1. crowd funding increases more control over the project by the funders and less by the company developing the game. not always seeing best for everyone.. 2. can also put a large number of gamers off the game ( the ones against such idea ) 3. from a comany that has a history of in house it can distory them in a second. plus codemasters Racing have stated that they will from 2013( i think it was 2013)  only focus on racing games. after the some what ( sad :(( ) failure of "Operation Flashpoint" .. a brilliant game with what could of been massive . look at arma 3.. a big shame.. for those that dont know or havnt been around codi for long.. check the cataloge of games codi has  to its name HERE Top 3 Games/ideas that codie should scratch there head over a pint.. 1. Micro Machines - built on ego 3 engine . cockpit, trailing, overhead views. featuring silly cars like the icecream van or even the rally cars of today, monster trucks and so on. Featuring the mass Multiplayer.. this also could combine a Premium/store front via racenet via steam or bla. 2. Bmx / Mountin Biking game ( sim or not ) think back to the days of matt hoffman & tony hawk,. its still a form of racing / sport . ego engine would do this well. what about a helmet view of going down a hill .. ?! 3. Rally. This is very very unlikely due to the fact that WRC has its own game . and this causes problems down to liscencing for cars teams logos bla bla bla.. but the idea would be very nice.  BUT they could do there own open world form of rally ( think the crew ) but bring back the basis of big festivals walking out the trailer  like Dirt 2.  but with shop tents were you can buy parts and body panels to create your own thrash machine. Again this could go down the route of premium/store front via racenet via steam or bla.  people are yes against premium/store purchase but it is in this world a required point of revenue for game developers to continue there work and continued structure of the games you play. PROVIDING.. they arnt like some companies (coff apbR.....) that charge through the roof and not invest it back.. =((  Hope  this helps your Overheating imagenation Brain boxes .. Sgt Drayke. ok another update  i think i found a general issue accros the board.. after testing the game on 2 of my other machines that are all completely different. i had to create firewall rules for both  (thats because i use comodo) but both i also had to disable steam overlay. ?! just incase your not sure. right click the game title in steam > properties > general tab just above "set launch options" a small box with "enable/disable the steam overlay while in-game. another one of those "yes this has effected many games in the past. but why i didnt think of that, " i have my self from the day i installed steam disabled that in the steam properties. so hents why i havnt had a prob with that on my machine.. :) Sgt Drayke hey Checkout my Youtube Video Discussion?

hi Langoorji good to hear your able to play the game. i only commented onthe 450gts because if your running it as a dedicated physx card you dont want any monitors connected to it. plus you said in your post you pulled it to save power hents why i said check you nvidia control panel has adjusted its settings. enjoy the game.  :) Sgt Drayke hey Checkout my Youtube videos discussion

Hi @Langoorji hope you are good. well done for tackling this your self. what puzzles me is that you were running second card for physX ( no problem there ) but with a monitor pluged into that card.... ? if you are running a card for dedi physX then your monitors should all go through your primary .. otherwise defeating the objective..  ( not ment to sound rude by the way ) but never mind about that now.. sorry to hear your monitor died.. its a pain in the arse when they give up like that. make sure you check your nvidia control setup that physx is set to the right option. gpu/cpu.  Other thing when installing Beta Drivers it is best to do a complete Re-Install of the driver package. as beta do carry bugs.  ( although i will admit its a pain if you use custom profiles for your applications as they will be deleted on clean re-install ) Please feel free to view the main tips & tweaks discussion. just incase it helps with something you over looked or havnt tried.  ( reviewing your problem sounds like an issue i had had regarding av firewall protection as the game was attempting to access memory and etc. it may be worth checking that you have a rule in any av & firewall applications. that said you have a fix. but if this issue comes back it may be worth looking into. ) enjoy Racing :) Sgt Drayke hey Checkout my Youtube Videos Discussions Page

@mcnab      . sorry to hear this.. i must admit if you arnt to bothered about the pack then why need it.?! .. @Shinobi75   Stuttering in multiplayer races is a whole different ball game..  Why? You have to keep in mind that your computer is attempting to : A- Process everything in the game at the Specs you have set it to .. & then B- Get the information coming from the internet every mili second and process and render that into the game for ever mili second of the race. including the extras that you wont think of like damage skid marks so on. aswell as position of very one on track even if you cant see them. Other facters that cause problems with this already problem is that hardware will slow everything down. you internet speed. it may be 60m or 20. ( min 40mb for online ) but what if you are being capped/reduced due to data usage, also router is it 100mb lan or 1000? do you have fibre or copper cable.. all these play effect on how your pc gets the info .. and then has to process it. look at lag this way... snap shot of a pc in a few second whilst gaming. "pc has processed everything and is processing the packets. but 3 packets from the internet dont arrive.. the pc then goes into alert mode stutters whilst waiting for  resent packets or the next in the line.. when it does get it , it then has to process the game and the packets and spit it all back out. resulting it Stutter/lag reduced FPS.. " thats the short hand version. I have been getting the feeling the game prefers 64 bit os and over 8gb of memory. but taht said i do have 2 people im trying to help that fit that.. i will find the answers :) Sgt Drayke hey Checkout my Youtube video Discussion

Haha yeh i have noticed this aswell. the "finish ahead of your qualifying finish" .. i was 1st in quali and 1st in the race.. hmmm.. its one of those small glitches. "trigger points"  im pritty sure if you started infront of your team mate let him go past and then overtake him it would trigger. So MX1000  And Everyone Else.. i have just had someone else try my theory of "install the game on a secondary harddrive - to offload the read/write from the master/c drive" and he has suffered from horrible lag/stuttering. in his own words : "It works!  On ULTRA HIGH settings!  It's beautiful!  It's fun!  And...all day long, I won 4 out of 5 races on HARD." hope your able to fix your issues.  Drayke  8-}

/\ /\ /\ this is running on  - Intel i7 920 2.6ghz (stock clock) 8 thread 4 core - Asus P6t Deluxe - Corsair hydro h100 - Corsair Dominator 18gb DDR 3 1600mhz - EVGA 760 GTX SC 2Gb   | Drivers currently on :  beta 340.43 - Creative SoundBlaster x-fi platinum fatal1ty champion series - Samsung 24" 1920x1080 res 2ms monitors x2 (dual) - 3x Samusung 1TB 7200rpm sata II    ( ALL Games are installed to a second 1tb drive )     Vsync is on and perfect 60fps . even whilst recording   B1ohazard , this sounds like and codi know it is.. a memory issue. let me attempt to aid you. 1. what is your pagefile ?   i run mine at 34293mb . 2. installing & running your game on C: (master drive) ?  i have always stated that i find  better performace running games from a secondary drive. ( logic behind this is that whilst C: (master) is busy for all background windows and other apps having the game read/write slows it down, having it seperate is better ) 3. what av/firewall are you using?  (memory access)  the game makes changes on install to the windows firewall. but if you are running your own firewall you need to add entries. as i recently found out . after the installation of 03/07/14 patch my av/firewall comodo didnt like the game and was throughing it out the window. due to the patch making changes to how the game read/writes and acess the memory. so create your own custom rules in firewalls & av. so ie comodo you will need to create a custom rule in "hips" for it to have free access to your harddrive, memory and internet (this is at your own risk) my self i have entered it via active process and gridautosport.ext set to "trusted application" .. the game every second is looking and saving to the drive aswell as chatting on the internet even in singleplayer. av and firewalls if you do not give rules will slow the game. (not sounding rude mate) /\ /\ /\ this is running on  - Intel i7 920 2.6ghz (stock clock) 8 thread 4 core - Asus P6t Deluxe - Corsair hydro h100 - Corsair Dominator 18gb DDR 3 1600mhz - EVGA 760 GTX SC 2Gb   | Drivers currently on :  beta 340.43 - Creative SoundBlaster x-fi platinum fatal1ty champion series - Samsung 24" 1920x1080 res 2ms monitors x2 (dual) - 3x Samusung 1TB 7200rpm sata II     Vsync is on and perfect 60fps . even whilst recording   there is a noticable difference between mobile (m) graphics and the desktop. the first thing with freezing / stutters is to lower msaa / aa  and the rest. they eat the most gpu power. then its the big list ( worst offenders at the top ) - ambient occlusion - advanced lighting - anisotropic filtering - global illumination - water - ground cover you will also notice that i have turned off "Advanced blending (intel)" < one of those "chuck it over the shoulder and get it dead senter of the bin" jobs. :D anyone on a 670 above and 760 basic above desktops should be able to run it high to ultra. mobile you will probably max it at high.
