  1. I have some footage here of the issue again, on Bahrain showing the issue, it is noticable from 01:00. Just to be exact, this is playing on Xbox One, 100% race length, championship mode. You can see my gameplay settings at the end of the clip.

I am quite confused how the issue has not happened for Barry after what he has shown, as in my testing this would cause the issue every time. I did also find out that aswell as blue flags not working, corner cutting does not, but yellow flags do. An AI car retired and there were yellow flags over that section of the track as should happen, I didnt actually expect this to happen as at first I thought somehow Rules and Flags were simply being turned off but seems to not simply be the case.

  2. Further to my report above after experiencing the issue, here is some more information.

I am Playing on Championship mode, 100% race length and it appears that when you reload into game save the blue flags no longer work. I have checked that the blue flags do work when you play without leaving and resuming mid session, however as I race 100% length I often save mid race then resume the day later and it seems every time this error occurs. I have expereinced it on Australia, Bahrain and another seperate test on Australia in Grand Prix mode. It is definately not just the actual blue flags on the track that is missing, the game acts as if the rules are turned off as you can approach an AI car they will not slow down or move out of the way like they are supposed to. This is also the case for an AI lapping an AI.

    Platform - Xbox One

What version of the game you are using: 1.12

We need to be able to make your problem happen internally so we can fix the issue. Can you make the problem happen again?

Yes, it appears to happen every time when resuming a mid race save.

How do you make the problem happen?

Save the game mid race, fully exit the game and then return. It seems to happen every time rather than a sporadic issue.

Any screenshots or video of the issue?

I have attached screenshots in my earlier post showing me approaching Latifi to lap him. You can see from the screenshots the blue flags are not showing, he has not slowed down and has not moved out of the way for me to overtake.

  3. Are there any plans to do another change to the driver ratings? I feel that Nicholas Latifi is way underrated, if you play in Grand Prix or Championship mode (so just doing a default F1 race) 99% of the time he will always come in last place. I agree statistically he should be the worst driver on the grid but not my the margin that he is currently rated.

  4. I have realised an issue from several races I have done where if an AI driver retires in one of the final few laps of the race they will not be listed as in last place. What seems to happen is as shown by the screenshot Verstappen was in 2nd place and then had an engine failure on lap 55 of 56. I (as Norris) then finished in 9th place and it then appears that as I crossed the line Verstappen would have been in 16th on track as such, so for some reason that is recorded as a 16th place finish when ofcourse his car had actually failed so the other drivers would have soon overtaken his position and he would really have been 20th.

    Version - 1.10.1

Game Mode - Championship, 100% race length F1 2020 season

Can you make this problem happen again? Yes, only screenshot evidence of this race but will happen every time if there is a DNF near the very end of the race.

  5. The AI definitely struggle to overtake each other much more than on F1 2019, but strangely I find they are able to fight with the player well just not each other. I find this is also why AI doing fewer stops appear overpowered compared to those doing an extra stop as they are unable to quickly pass slower cars. Also, unlike on 2019, it seems almost impossible AI will overtake each other outside of DRS zones. If you have a wet race for this reason you’ll notice the AI trains are even worse.

  6. I think the Williams cars could do with their performance being increased slighlty, almost every time the Williams AI will be the last two cars. There could do with being a bit more variance in AI performance I feel from race to race to realistically mix up the finishing positions a bit.

I think Codies have it down really well for tyres as there can be times in dry but cloudy cool conditions where the medium tyre performs better than the softs as happens in real racing. Conditions are key.

BUT the AI issue is different. I've noticed an AI out of traffic can go much faster on the right tyre but soon as they get behind someone then they go yellow flag mode. However they do have good attacking aggression. Test holding the AI back or giving them just the slightest of gaps and they'll gun for it. But they don't do this for other AI. Now it could be they are a little TOO intelligent as in they know exactly what corners to defend inside or outside as I've seen plenty of good attempts by faster AI to overtake BUT the defender always wins unless an extreme situation presents itself, rare mechanical issue possibly from pushing too hard too long? Or another AI causes a block or other similar issue to the defending AI. The last 3 races for me have been entirely yellow flag AI bar whoever is 2nd behind my 3 poles in a row. These 3 races I did accurate difficulty to my cars performance, slightly lower and super easy. All three times the 2nd car would do a Need For Speed style "Catch up" where even on super easy they'd fly along with me for the most part of the 1st lap even well ahead of the 3rd place AI. So its not just a case of max fuel and energy use but something in the coding that is screwing up the AI. The worst thing is getting an AI to react or evolve solely around the player.

They need to get their independence back like they did so well in 2018. Sure they fought maybe a little too much and sometimes ruined their own races but they at least took each car whether human or AI as equals and had great fights. Its much more staged now to the player. Though the starts are exciting and midfield starts for me are great fun. You can see the issue much clearer up front. The AI are aggressive in the wrong situations and wasteful of their boosts (when not cheating, seemingly limitless ERS etc). Especially the starts. Racing so hard they burn out harder! Bar the "cheating" AI closest to the player who seems to have far longer boosts than the other AI who fall back fast.

If they have a catch up system they need to dump that fast. The worst invention in gaming ever! More consistency in pace. Better tyre to situation consistency. And more human style AI overtaking, if the AI always know exactly what to do to defend (ERS perfect timing and perfect lines), and speed and talent mean nothing (yellow flag syndrome), then there will never be a real overtake opportunity. This stands even for the top teams struggling to overtake midfield teams (also regardless of tyre).

So to sum up. More consistent pace, more "human" defending. AI treating other AI the same as the player.

I completely agree with your points here, I do feel there is something strange with the AI this year. They attack and overtake the player very well but just don’t seem to be able to do this against each other. It also seems to be an issue on some circuits more than others. For example I find Zandvoort and Hungaroring are amongst the worst where AI seem to find it nearly impossible to overtake each other, yet other tracks like Baku, Spa and Monza are perfect in how the AI act. I think there needs to be some adjustment on the AI on circuits that are harder to overtake.

  8. 1.       A detailed description of the issue. Please include any error codes here.

I am racing a full 100% race length F1 2020 season in Championship mode and find than on some particular tracks there are issues where AI cars are unable to overtake eachother. Quite often, I find the faster Mercedes / Ferrari / Red Bull cars can make a pitstop and then come out behind the midfield cars but are unable to overtake then like they would realistically and as seen on F1 2019. This also means I find similarly matched cars are almost unable to overtake each other, and you dont really see any AI battles. I find the AI is very good at battling the human player but not each other.

    3.       What version of the game you are using (Shown on the start screen in the bottom left corner of the screen)

    Championship Mode. 100% Race Length.
    5.       What are your replication numbers? Minimum test attempts are 4. Please also add EXACT replication steps for us to try too.

Happens every time, but only on certain tracks. So far this issue happens on Australia, Zandvoort, Monaco (perhaps more understandable given how hard this circuit is to overtake) and Canada.

    6.       What troubleshooting have you attempted? Please always try to attempt to fix the issue

Repeated trials in Grand Prix mode, AI behaviour is the same.
    7.       What peripherals are you are using (gamepad, wheel make & model etc)

    Standard Xbox One controller.

  9. I’ve seen a few penalties in Championship mode doing a full F1 season, including Sainz parking in a dangerous location in Vietnam which I thought was quite unusual to see. It seems penalties are very rare to see, but also possible which is good.

  10. I always race in Championship and have exactly the same issue. AI was able to overtake each other much more in F1 2019, I have seen a few crashes though that didn’t involve me.

it seems that the AI is better on some tracks than others. Zandvoort seems to have particular issues, AI is almost completely unable to overtake each other unless they are considerably faster than the car infront, on my 100% race trains of cars just went on for lap after lap with no place changes. I think the AI seems to be able to battle the player better than 2019, but aren’t anywhere as good at battling each other.

Not sure if it's general behaviour or just the difficulty I'm on (85). But the AI cannot overtake another AI car that is slow in the corners. But it also can't get past on the straights because the slow car is going full speed.

Last race for Catalunya with Renault and Alpha Tauri P1/P2 becuase the Mercs/Red Bulls/Ferraris wouldn't overtake. The faster strategy was to 2 stop, which all the top 10 did. But what this did was after their first stop the "leaders" got stuck behind the long stinters. On the map it looked like there was a safety car. After the 1 stoppers pitted it mixed it up a little, but then the leaders pitted again and the same thing happened. I can get past if I get my elbows out which seems to open it up for the faster cars.

I don't mind it mixing it up a little, but it was like watching a couple of safety cars going around the track and is putting my rivals in high points positions.

This is exactly the sort of thing I experience in races, which is a shame because AI had no problem overtaking in 2019.

  12. What’s everyone’s thoughts on the AI behaviour in the game?

Ill be honest and say currently I think they are currently way better on 2019. I find that during races, cars will only overtake each other if they are considerably faster than the car infront. In 2019, similarly matched AI cars could be seen battling with each other like in real life but that just doesn’t seem to happen now, instead they just sit in trains and don’t make any attempt to overtake. Still, the rest of the game is very good and hopefully this can be improved with further patches.

  13. Same for me, I notice for some reason my AI doesn’t seem as intelligent as some Youtubers races I’ve been watching. In Australia, my AI seem to find it almost impossible to overtake each other. Not sure if it has been tweaked from 1.01 to 1.03 which could explain it if so.

  14. First race I’ve had, overall very impressed with the look of the game except one thing I have noticed.

Started With a 100% length race at Australia, and noticed the AI very rarely made an attempt at overtaking each other, even when the car behind was noticeably faster in earlier laps but once they catch up to a slower car in-front just sit behind. In F1 2019, AI had no issues at all overtaking each other.
