Time Trial Leaderboards Fail to Load (0 players)

Hi @BarryBL, So I’ve just confirmed that this issue is still the case even with staying on one track. From the looks of it, it seems like it could be a more inherent issue with the connection to online services which means the leaderboards can’t load? 19:10 Load up Hanoi, all leaderboards load. Load car setup from saved car setups (not from leaderboard) 19:11 Start flying lap 19:13 Restarted lap 19:13-19:20 Multiple flying laps 19:20 Check leaderboards, ‘Downloading Content’ loops seemingly indefinitely. Will leave for 5 minutes to see if anything happens. 19:25 Still ‘Downloading content’ with ‘Total: 0 Players’. Press circle to go back to the car screen. Press square to go back into session info. ‘Downloading content’ has disappeared, and there is still Total: 0 players. 19:26 End session, ‘Communicating with online services’ loops indefinitely and I can’t get back onto the F1 menus. Only a close application and restart fixes.

Time Trial Leaderboards Fail to Load (0 players)

Hi @BarryBL, thanks for the response. I don’t think your replication method would cause the issue, as it seems to be spending an extended period in time trial that causes it. Also, whilst the leaderboard after ending the session also doesn’t load, looking at the leaderboards (to copy a setup for example) through the Session Info screen of the same session had the issue. I experienced it again today on my lunch, but it appeared to be slightly different circumstances, whereby I went onto Bahrain Short by accident, and instantly switched over when I could to Bahrain (instead of, say a 50/50 split in terms of time spent on each track). All the lap times and leaderboards etc were loading, but at some point in the session they weren’t. This leads me to believe that this in fact could be replicated just by spending an extended period of time on one track, so I’ll see if that is the case this evening. If this is the case, then I believe this could be tied in with the looping “Communicating with Online Services” I get after quitting time trial (when the leaderboards fail to load), so could be a more general connectivity issue? To save you time, I’ll do some more testing tonight to try and more consistently recreate the issue and get back to you.

Anyone use a PS4 controller with no traction control?

Hey, no worries haha. I believe it makes the initial input of the trigger less sensitive, meaning that you’re less likely to put too much throttle on too early and spin out.

Anyone use a PS4 controller with no traction control?

Before I moved to a wheel, I found turning the throttle linearity up to 50-70 (depending on preference) really helped me be smooth with the triggers. Also applied this to the brake too.

New flashback prompt makes things worse

I believe from the patch notes that this only the first time you experience a flashback opportunity!

    Improving the Multiplayer experience

Hey, Firstly I’d like to say I’m such a massive fan of this years iteration. Whilst F1 2019 was really good, the handling and traction felt off and both these aspects have really been improved in F1 2020 (full throttle up Eau Rouge feels incredible). Still struggling to keep the car on the track for qualy laps in the likes of Barcelona but hopefully it’ll be much easier when I get my wheel! I believe that the Skill rating and Safety rating follows last years model (please correct me if I’m wrong), and last year, I felt that multiplayer racing was too a frustrating experience, wherein a lot of drivers were malicious and weren’t really racing to race, more to knock others off the track. The only way to counter this was to try and get to the S tier for safety rating, but this in itself was no mean feat. As both your (accidental or ‘not your fault’) collisions with other drivers and, focally for this post, your breach of track limits caused your safety rating to drop quite significantly at times, and it was very hard to then raise it back up. This led to a huge drop in skill rating, as the best strategy was to start 20th to ensure you get clean races in (which isn’t all that fun). With the above seeming to be the same model for this year, I’d like to suggest a potential alternative to the current model. Suggestion: Instead of Skill rating being determined by just race finish positions, incorporate the breach of track limits into Skill rating as well, and remove it from the Safety rating. This would then mean that Skill rating is both your race pace, but also your ability to stay on the track. Safety rating would then be your attitude to racing per-se then, whereby if you’re inclined to play the game in a more arcade manner, you’ll have a low safety rating, and if you take the racing aspect seriously you’ll have a high safety rating. (It may also be more fitting to rename the Safety rating to something like Sportsmanship Rating). Thinking about this critically, an issue I I do potentially see with this is that there could be some sort of exploitation of the fact you can increase your Skill rating by cutting corners instead of pure race pace, but I believe this could resolved by putting a cap on an individuals progression in Skill rating in that race or an overall cap (e.g 1800) until they can maintain their race pace without cutting corners (with some lenience to track limit breaches here and there, especially in the first lap as it is a race after all). And if there are logical, or programmatical issues, or any other complexities with this, as another alternative: splitting Safety (collisions), Skill (race position), and Racecraft (track limit breaches, pit lane speeding etc) into 3 separate metrics, but I’d hazard a guess that this could cause to much complexity regarding matchmaking. Thanks for taking the time to read! edit: I’d also like to say I appreciate coding the logic for a racing game must be incredibly complex with the amount of stochasticity that happens in multiplayer environments so I don’t envy whoever has to do that!

    Pad steering issue

Not a codies staff member, but are you going past 90 degress (i.e. 3 and 9 on a clock) on the joystick? I believe if you go past full left and full right, therefore starting to move below horizontal, the game doesn't like that and can cause a weird reset issue.

    Loading times Playstation

I don't have enough substantial data to assist any more here, other than an extreme anecdotal case I encountered similar to the above (if it helps at all) PS4 Pro, just a controller. My game was permanently loading Time Trial for the Hanoi Circuit a few days ago. I waited for over 5 minutes on the loading screen before giving up (and unfortunately starting work!). For reference, by loading screen I do not mean a black screen. The track image and title etc was on the screen, but the loading widget in the top left was never-ending.
