But I’m guessing the reason behind having it for the ai teams is for when they hire F2 drivers so they aren’t to underpowered.  Typical dev behaviour.  Never find a happy medium.  It’s always one extreme or another

They don't have to, F2 drivers actually had much steeper natural growth rate than F1 drivers, the gap become much closer after just a few seasons in for some of the top F2 guys. All they have to do, is to make their growth rate just slightly steeper in the future.

Really in my mind it comes down to realism. Simply having a career mode that matches real life (I.e Perez not being anywhere near as fast as verstappen) is key, it's almost a game breaker (obviously it's not but still)

If you play grand prix mode, Perez will probably perform like he was in real life. The problem is the career mode and My Team, where Ai's team personnel facilities boosts their stats so much that almost every F1 driver will have maxed out ratings (even though they don't show the boosts when you check the driver's market, it's still present just hidden)

All aspects of the game should get the same attention in my opinion, breaking point is not for me but like you say the casual fan it is great

If they have all the time of the world, that is.

Development time, manpower, resources are very limited, especially for these annual titles. If they treat every aspects of the game fairly, what we'll get is that everything will be nowhere near finish. (Just imagine if they decided to redo and laser scan all the tracks for this year, the game will probably be release on 2025 or something.)

The more you wanna do, the more you'll need to sacrifice. And in this case, they've sacrificed the precious time to improve what they had in place, for something entirely new yet only worth a few hours of playtime.

I think the thing is that we want the freedom within a game. I want to drive as my own character and live out my 'dreams' of being a formula one driver. Just would be good if codemasters could give us realism with being our own driver as well as playing a story mode

Being myself participating in the sport, and even running my own team is exactly what got me absolutely hooked with the original GRID and F1 2020, it's literally CM's specialty when it comes to racing game and is what separated them from other franchises.

Not expanding and refining the aspects that people love about them is just a huge shame for a hardcore fan, and I can totally see things not improving in the future since BP is such a good selling point for the casual fans the same way as DTS to the new audiences of F1.

Nothing speaks louder than money to a business, after all.

Exactly the same as me... last year my team although not perfect.  Was an awesome new aspect off the game and seemed to be universally liked...  I thought cm would have spent time and resources polishing it.  But instead they gave us braking point nonsense... I made it to the point I was switched to the older driver and as I was under the impression you was playing the part off he young rookie.. being changed to the old guy was just to much and I deleted my progress.

I don't even mind the part where you switch character, it's just that the story itself really wasn't all that compelling, and the gameplay...I just don't think scenario mode belongs to a even just somewhat serious racing game.

Imo, doing full races with story elements and scenarios involving throughout would work much better than just throwing you midway into the action. Players will feel a lot more involve that way because it's like they're actually roleplaying in a realistic setting + interesting drama.

Story mode really isn’t that brilliant even for those who want that sort off thing.  Actually it’s really poor😂

Can't agreed more, it took me about 30 minutes before I dropped it (I just ended up watching the cutscenes on Youtube and calls it a day)

It's just a glorified yet boring scenario mode where at least instead of replicating iconic moment with real drivers people remember and love, you're stuck with a couple of unlikable fictional characters that has exaggerated facial animations and unrealistic car physics in the cutscenes.

At best this mode only last for a few hours, with zero replay value.

This is coming from a player who spent more than 1000 hours in My Team mode alone in F1 2020 (Total is more than 1600 hours), to me personally, BP is a complete waste of development time & resources.

Because in one patch (something around 1.09), the bonus only apply to your team, but for some reason, it is reverted to previous (apply to all drivers) for next patches. it's so frustrating that one small thing ruin a great game.

It's kinda funny how CM spent so much time refining the driver stats to made them as realistic as possible, only to have their own system to completely nullifying their efforts, and ironically, it had to be a bug to "fixed" it.

Next time might as well just make it so that all AI driver has identical stats since the system made them all the same anyways, it'll surely saves a lot of development time to make "great" game modes like BP and call it Missing The Point or something.

Ok, not a huge amount of votes but looks like 2022 went down well at least 😀

Have to say other than the current 2021 soundtrack (which I really enjoy), I couldn't quite remember the music from 2020 even though it was just about a month or two ago that I stopped playing it.

To be honest, nothing quite surpass that time I got a hold of the Japanese version of F1 2001 made by Studio Liverpool. They used a remixed version of Truth (by T-Square) as their menu BGM. I've never had a menu experience that energetic and explosive in my entire gaming life and that's not exaggerating. (This is the exact one they used in the game)

It should be impossible to have transfers turned off in MyTeam as the entire mode relies on being able to choose your teammate.  Therefore, either the mode remains broken for all eternity or they do something sensible like provide access to control it ourselves or, like DonBlanko says, make it work as it should if people don't want control.

The workaround is good, but isn't it only if you want them to stay at a team they're currently at?  For example, if you want to force various moves simultaneously, the system doesn't work?  For example, say I wanted Gasly to go to Red Bull, Schumacher to Ferrari, Daruvala to Alpha Tauri, Russell to Mercedes, Bottas to Alfa Romeo, Shwartzman to Haas, Ticktum to Williams, etc.  There's no way of leading the system into making that exact scenario, as far as i'm aware?

Yes indeed, that's the limitation of that method.

The only real opportunity to have certain driver to sign into a specific team is when that team have a driver retiring. In this situation you can then force all other drivers to sign with their own team except the one you wanted to make a shift.

I've once tried 2 seasons leaving only both Bottas and Russell open on the market in 2020 (with no retirement), yet Mercedes refused to sign Russell even when he had higher acclaim than Bottas (I modded the game so that Williams perform way better than vanilla). Only when Lewis finally retired and I used that workaround method, Mercedes finally took Russell.

With F2 drivers it's even harder to make the method work.

Though that being said, I actually haven't dig deep enough into 2021 yet. But from what I've heard so far, seems like driver switch is a lot more frequent and hectic than 2020, so may be leaving multiple openings in the market might work this time (Like that situation I mentioned above about Bottas and Russell).

Have you seen the Riciardo.? I dare say code masters are paying an artist a fortune, who knows nothing about F1 or those that follow it.

Cause most liveries this year are stupid busy finger paintings.

And then when there is a livery design that I like the look off.  You find random finishes. A bit off gloss here and metallic there.  Which makes matching colours impossible.

But I agree with you on Russell’s livery.  That does look decent

Sadly you can't be those drivers in the game (unless with mods), and then these helmets are not paintable, and then even worst is that decals on helmet are still bugged and are missing.

From the in-house Codies developed F1 games what is your all-time favourite year for music? From licensed to bespoke composition.

Just from looking at the title I was rubbing my fists, hoping to have an option to choose Truth by T-Square LOL

    Hi all,

since Imola has been released fairly early in October, I dont have any doubts that the Jeddah track will be released some time later this month. While I do care less about when exactly that would be, my interest is what else can we expect from patch 1.13 - given that Codemasters will release Jeddah with this very patch version number. Or to put it in other words, which fixes, which gameplay improvements can we expect, until Jeddah track will be released? And which ones would we demand, if we had a say?

So here goes my list of wishful thinking / expectations for patch 1.13, let me see yours, or @RedDevilKT respectively Codemaster staff - are there any infos available yet, what will / will not be contained in v1.13?

    • Jeddah track
    • F2 car liveries of 2021
    • the 2nd season of podium pass
    • a working fix for online lobbies (PC players get dropped from all time)
    • a further driver ratings update / car performance update
    • e-sports build (is it just me, or has the official sticky announcement concerning the e-sports build somehow vanished from the forums?)
    • a car handling / setup overwork, that will neither be a step-back towards F1 2020 handling (as is now), and nor an exploit like F1 2021 handling after release
    • the long overdue nerf of bottas superiority in myteam mode (PC)
    • a fix for team bonuses in conjunction with driver stats
    • an adjustment to ABS breaking in a way, that loosing the assist and breaking manually will let players gain more time over the ones using the assist (IOW make ABS breaking way slower)
    • measures versus cheating in online racing and / or time trial (see some popular youtubers on how silly that is at the moment)
    • fix some of the graphical bugs that have been around since last years game (myteam: no sponsor decals in replays, e.g., ghosting around tyres in DLSS mode, etc.)

While I could continue the list of my personal "wishful thinking" or expectations for the upcoming patch, I would be way more interested in seing yours, or gaining insights into the informations you might have about the upcoming version of the game. Shoot! 😀

    My expectation would be:

    • Jeddah Track
    • Rebalance of AI difficulty of Braking Point
    • Rebalance of car performance of Braking Point
    • Readjust face model of Devon Butler to make him look more smug
    • Improved Braking Point cutscene animations because why not
    • General Braking Point bug fixing of course
    • Braking Point future road map announcement
    • More Braking Point news incoming yo
    • Haha 3

  13. Unless they could come up with a more sophisticated system to diverse the driver's performance in MyTeam or Career modes, I would say they should completely remove the boost feature. It literally made the driver stats completely meaningless because they all ended up having the same stats anyways.

I'm sure I saw them on the audio names for the creat driver profile for career mode. No confusion with breaking point mode.

Not sure if there's any difference between platforms, but on the PC side I'm 3000% certain that they weren't there from the beginning.

I was planning for a character based MyTeam playthrough even before the game came out, so the audio name was the first thing I check since I got the game, and they weren't there which ****** me off to no end.

So to do something different I decided I wanted to start a Devon Butler career mode to do something different. But noticed his and Akkermans names have been removed from the audio names. Now I'm 99% sure they were in at the start from when I started my team. So why were they removed and will they get added back? If not it's taken some life out of the game for me.

Nope, they were never in the base game.

It was the first thing I checked when I got the game on its release date, and was utterly disappointed because of it. You must've mistaken it with the Braking Mode mode because Crofty kept calling their names as if they were fighting for first place every race.

    Hey guys!

I'm in my first season of My Team mode and facing either a bug, or the baddest of lucks. I'm in the middle of the season, and I already run out of ICEs: 3 of them broke, and 2 are at 50% of wear. Is there a way to get a 6th ICE replacement? I don't want to skip the 10 remaining races because of this xd

Ask Valtteri, my gut feeling told me that he's an expert on this matter.

I was actually just about to start a career and have now read this post. I noticed that in the career options, the setting option for driver transfers (on or off) as in F1 2020 is missing. I thought that they had removed the driver transfers, but instead you are obviously forced to use them. It's no fun like that, so I won't be starting a career for the time being.
Actually, I would have hoped that there would finally be an option for the frequency of rain in the career (similar to the frequency for the SC), but unfortunately not again!

At this point the driver career is simply an abandoned game mode on CM side...even the My Team mode is lack luster considering how much anticipation it gets after the very positive reception from players in F1 2020, it wasn't even properly play tested.

Braking Point must've taken so much focus from them during development, what a shame, tbh.

  18. Some of these designs even left out blank areas on places where decals usually located, suggesting that they were intended to have that decal option like other regular livery yet it's not in the final game.

It's a weird decision since these liveries were supposed to be the microtransaction part of the game, yet CM don't seem to value them at all.

  19. Not entirely sure if it's by design or not, but I guess you could think of it as "your current engine had already reached its peak potential", so in order to get anything beyond that point, is to hope for a new engine regulation change and your engine supplier manage to get the right PU design philosophy this time around.

This happened to me and other teams with the same PU in 2020 as well, I personally doubt it's a bug.

Maybe it’s just an oversight they can slide into an update to resolve. 🤷‍♂️

I think my main disappointment is the deluxe edition hasn’t quite been as deluxe as I’d expected from it regarding things like this and the icons. Bit anti-climactic.

The fact that it doesn't even included the audio names for the 3 fictional driver really rubbed me the wrong way LOL, I really only got it for the legendary drivers...

It used to on the suit when I started back in July.  At some point, it stopped.  I haven’t touched that save for a few months (as waiting for the new tracks) so no idea when it stopped but I’d assume an update side-effect.
I thought it might be because it’s non-customisable but the Braking Point suits and Intergalactic allow them so it’s literally just this one which is one of the more aesthetically satisfying to me.  I guess that’s the point as it’d be too much of a nice thing to have a decent suit and sponsors. 😂

Yea I can confirm they were on the suit back then, but the car liveries that go along with the suit never had that option for some reason, and now both just gone 🤬

  22. I honestly don't understand of why can't the Deluxe car livery and racesuit have the sponsor decals like others, they're obviously designed to have those decals, just look at all those empty section that seem to be purposely left out for the decals

I'm having a pretty similar issue in My Team career, though for the first half of the season it wasn't an issue, it was only until i got to Hungary that i noticed the issue start to occur. Now i'm not the best at fuel consumption, so i usually stuck in +1 lap worth of fuel and that'd last me no problem until the end of the race, but in Hungary my fuel was burning at an insane rate. Playing at 100% race length, i'd basically get down to low fuel around halfway through the race! Racing exactly the same as i would usually, i'd be losing 0.5/6 units of fuel per lap, even when i applied coasting and lifting.

At first i thought perhaps it was a worn ICE that was causing it so i swapped it out for a fresh one at Spa and again, i'd begin to run out of fuel around midway to 3/4 through the race, even when fueling perhaps +2/3/4 laps worth of fuel.

I tried racing at the same tracks in a normal Grand Prix and the issue wasn't there, fuel consumption was what i was used to so it's definitely an issue with My Teams

Probably because we players tend to ride the throttle through the windy corners along with brakings, which used up way more than the game's preset prediction on fuel consumption. The race simulation will sorta fix it, just runs them like you actually would in a race and they'll calculate it according to your particular driving style.

  24. 16 minutes ago, Badmayhem said:

Another thought....... Put you starts on assited instead of manuel. On the start have overtake activated and full throttle applied, this should get ya to the turn 1st. If not then you must be using manuel gears and missing shifting points.

It's weird because I never had any issue with race starts. I think I've more issue with AI being way too slow 90% of the time at start despite running 100+ Ai with no assist. The only legit way to make them faster than me is to make sure myself have cold tires by skipping the formation lap on purpose. Make sure you check your tire temp at start to see if they're below 80 degrees or so, below 80 is where you'll really start to struggle with acceleration.
