Please help me understand what is going on here?

Yeah I should note this is my 2nd MY team. I went to season 3 with first one, but didn't like the AI level I did it on so started again. I waited to post again till I started 2nd season to see if that fixed the problem, but ffs it is worse if anything. Practice and qually no problem. Same setup for the race it started okay till first pitstop where I went from soft to hard tyre. After that not only was 8th gear bad I didn't manage to get into 8th gear once. So for over half a 50% race distance at Australia I never got out of 7th gear at most. This is so frustrating that I can't find the cause of it. I've chucked a few more updates in power and chassis. Next I'm going to update the drag reduction one in aero, but if that doesn't fix it I'm stumped. And if that does fix it on it's own then the game is broken badly in my opinion. B all means if you think of anything else it could be let me know. Maybe I'll video it if I get to a track it will be real obvious on. Actually next track will likely do.

Is this upgrade in My Team a bug or working as intended?

Yeah, it was a 1200 point part. Fix it 600, adapt it 600. Also, having seen for sure when trying a new part after reg warning it is as someone said above, in that you have to update part for season you are in, and then adapt it for next seasons regs. That is far from reality. If a team switches focus from current season to the next years car they would develop it on those regs. So really, it should give option to make parts but not fit them. Guess it was too much hassle to do. So, yeah, only option is to not touch the sections hit. Certainly if first season I can see this as valid option to get a better jump on season 2 at expense of some performance in season 1 when it won't be as critical to how you do in that years championship.
  3. When asked about rival one of the answers I had was, "It's been great. They've really helping me put on a good show." Either use they've and helped, or they're and helping. Makes no sense as is. If you need the question that was asked, it was, "Things are really heating up between you and Max, aren't they?"

Having to pay 1200 points, twice, sure feels like a lot. Bad enough the 28% chance failed in first place. lol

If this was true you'd have to do the same for every new part too. You'd have to build it twice in all cases, even if you started a new one after regs came out. Is this the case? If not then I'm not sure I agree with your point, though I can see it and mentioned it in my other post just now.

Yep, I bought the part before the new regs came out, but I didn't try to fix it till I knew what the new regs were. What you're saying is that if I was making a new part out of titanium I would carry on even knowing that material couldn't be used for it with new regs. The only reason you'd do that if the reg change was a nerf and you wanted to stick with the part under current regs, and then develop the new part afterwards. I guess there might be reasons at times you may have to finish it to see how it works, but in most cases you'd take what you learned from the fail, but make it new with parts/materials that don't break the new regs.

So what you're saying is they failed to make the part, but then carried on with the same design despite it being with parts/materials or some other thing that is currently changed in the new rules. How does that make any sense? It's not like they are looking to reinvent the wheel. The part in question they were trying to make lighter, right? So why would you perfect something that doesn't conform toe the new regulations? It would be wasted effort and resources. Only reason acceptable would be if they could alter the one they already made that failed without building a new version, but even so if you know it will just be a banned part, why would you do it?
  8. I had a part in chasse in development when I got a regulation change. The two departments effected were this one and Aero. The part then failed development and I had to pay more resources to fix the problem. What annoyed the heck out of me was when it was finished two races later it was showing orange that it needed fixing for the new regulations as well. So paid once before regulation change, and twice after I knew what the changes were. This has to be a bug right? Why would they fix it wrong only to need to fix it again? Worse it was a major part too.

Hmm, nope, my turbo and other parts were still green so only added a new ICE. Possible it is that and I could try I guess. Only thing that makes me think it isn't that is that I use same engine parts for qualifying and race of course, and the engine sings perfectly through all 8 gears in qualifying. I'd expect the car to be slower in race of course with fuel on board and depending on what fuel map using, but in last few laps it is just as dead as at the start on full fuel. Thanks for the input I may try it, though I'm only four races from end of first season now, and my position in championship is pretty safe

Okay, it's not happening in GP quick play, so it has to be something with the upgrades. See how it is when I have some lower weight updates.

Yeah, it's not this. Already checked that. It is driving me NUTAS now to the point of uninstalling the game. I just drove Russian GP. I qualified in 6th then went backwards as everyone sailed by me on the straights. Even driving around outside of me around the long left hander of turn 2. On the start finish straight I was dead in 8th gear. Couldn't even get one light on RPM gauge to light, even with overtake button held down till it was empty of charge. Hell, by end of race I was barely getting into 8th by the end of the straight. I don't know if something in my car updates has caused the car to be high drag, but doubt it's that bad. Going to try a normal GP in a merc and see if I get same issue.
  12. Last race in My Team i noticed my car just had no legs in 8th gear and I was cruised past on by cars on the straights. I had been warned of a power loss but till laps after it started. I thought, okay fine I lost a bunch of places and ended out of the points. Next race I used a fresh engine even though the one I used in previous race was still full green. Qualifying it was fine, but again my car is utterly dead in 8th gear in the race. Revs don't climb at all even with overtake held down. I dropped from 4th place to 12th place inside 3 laps at French GP. Then to add to the *** is going on I looked at race director and saw that on lap two and three I was super consistent within four thousandth of a second, and I was faster than every car that had overtaken me according to race director. Over the three laps from start the 8 cars that pasted me were supposed to have been 1.2-1.5 seconds slower in total over those 3 laps. SO how the heck were they overtakeing me like I wasn't going forward? And most importantly, anyone know why my car is so utterly useless in 8th currently in races? Same setup I've used for many races here before too.

    Monza track limits.

Yep, for sure. Turns 6 and 7 (Lesmo 1 and 2) at Monza are dodgy ones, with 7 the worst of them in my opinion. That one will give you a warning long before you get all four wheels over the line.

    Monza track limits.

Not what I'm seeing at all. Had plenty of warnings while still having half the car inside the white line. In real you need all four tyres past the white line for a lap time to be deleted, or risk warnings in race. Not all are bad, but there are some corners worse than others.

At least the game is just as inconsistent as real F1. I've certainly gone well wide on occasion and got nothing at all. Then same corner but run wide a little later in turn and boom flags are waving. At least F1 seems to be getting tougher on track limits last few races. As for the game. Odd that it isn't easier to have it work as intended. Would think as they know the dimensions of the car they could have a breech line that if the car crosses it they get flagged. Guess they need something if they are really deep and crashing, but maybe I'm missing something on how hard it is to code in track limits accurately.
