in terms of McLaren yes it is I'm afraid but the same can be said of Domenicalli at Ferrari too. I don't BAR/Honda were never the strongest team and they only really woke up once Ross Brawn got involved for me the only reason why McLaren and Ferrari are struggling is because they're lacking leadership right now. I think now thart Ron Dennis has reasserted himself back in charge there's hope McLaren can recover a full recovery still takes time though tbf. Ferrari on the other hand still need a Ross Brawn/Ron Dennis type character with a clear vision to start leading them if they want to even think about recovering tbh. It's got nothing to do with Button because on the one occasion he's hada shot at glory he's taken it so he can't be all that bad. The Ferrari, McLaren and most other teams including Red Bull are slow because they were not ready for the new engine whereas Merc had been designing it since 2009. Red bull is getting faster as the season progresses where Ferrari and McLaren are still trying to catch up. I don't think anybody expected Mercedess to be this quick though in fairness. I think Mc Laern and Ferrari were struggling in the RB years as well so it's not just this season. I do think it's only now that they've both started to realise that if they want to get back to the top they have to do something about it.

yeah I only saw the last few minutes of it myself as I was busy with something else

Will codemasters get me over the PS4 E3 disappointment?
sjsharp2010 replied to BelgiumDude's topic in General Discussion
I'm pretty suer F1 2014 will be the next game to follow Autosport but as I said over in the off topic section I hope they have big improvements this year because the series needs them because there are quite a few racing games coming out this year and it's in danger of being left behind if improvements aren't seen -
If I had to guess I'd say it's because drifting is not that well known tbh I only know about drifting through playing NFS shift and I suck at it tbh and I doubt I'd be doing much tuner as it looks like a bit of a tricky disciplinre to me and I generally prefer out and out racing I think it's also because of the likelihood of the players attempting to troll/grief one another so they can win by default, or because of the likelihood of spinning the car on the corners because of how slidey they are. I think once everyone's gotten used to it, clean online drivers will probably learn how long to wait when they're the 'lead' car so both drivers can drive close tandem as opposed to this. But yeah, in a drift event against randoms I wouldn't trust them to drift clean; they'd probably try to knock me off to cancel my drift scores out so they win. :/ quite possibly yeah but I don't really know the official rules of drifting anyway as I don't follow it I know the longer you can hold your car going sideways through a corner the more points you get part but tbh that's all I know and I learnt that through playing NFS Shift and Grid 2 And that's why game drifting is so boring compared to the real deal. It's not how long or far you can drift. If pro drivers lose drift at all or spin it's a 0 for that run. Real drifting is based on how close you can hold the specific line the set out and how close you can get to the clipping points or the lead car if you're chasing. Then on top of that it's about doing it with as much angle as possible with as little steering corrections and e brake lock up as possible. The games make it look easy and confusing. Seriously the pros are performing surgery with their driving. It's all a show of peak car control. I do prefer rally but drifting isn't just smoke and body kits. well tbf they can't make it too over complicated like that otherwise people won't play it and it would be a waste of time putting it in the game especially as it's quite a tricky discipline to get to grips with anyway in these games

Wishlist for GRID: Autosport/What cars/tracks do you want to see in Autosport?
sjsharp2010 replied to RevolverOcelot's topic in General Discussion
looks like they've already done that with the tracks they've got I'm looking forward to doing that reverse race around Sepang. Shift 2 has got some good split up versions of tracks too. I quite liked the way Shift 2 did Monza, Suzuka and the Nurburgring been playing Shift 2 over the last couple of days along with bringing my F1 career to an end on 2012 still got 17 more races to do though I'm on my final season but only started it yesterday -

sjsharp2010 replied to mikevoltz1's topic in General Discussion
the way I read into what @Looer said is the setup system is more to help you get comfortable with the car it doesn't give you a performance advantage only the upgrades that your team give you within the game will do that -
When will we here about DLC integration...
sjsharp2010 replied to V8R3L3NTL3SS1's topic in General Discussion
not too suer we'll be seeing too much in the way of DLC in terms of Autosport because I think CM are doing everything they can I think to give us everything up front this time. As I think CM want to shift their focus on making their first PS4/XB1 type games and the new gen instead of making DLC for the older systems there will be patches to fix any issues that crop up but in terms of DLC I wouldn't expect much. They haven't ruled it out but given the effort that has gone into this game I wouldn't expect much. -
I'm sticking with what I originally thought earlier in the thread roo I could be wrong but I somehow think I'll be proved right.
-
I think we all deserve a slice of it :p

sjsharp2010 replied to mikevoltz1's topic in General Discussion
yeah but Grid is more about the different styles of racing you can do though I think at least that's what attracts me to it plus it doesn't take itself too seriously as well which I consider to be a very good thing. I've played a number of sims over the years and some of them can be very hard indeed. I like a sim feel but I don't like games where every car has got past me by the time I'm over the line to start my first lap which in some of the games they can be like. I like AI that challenges me but at the pace I go at. Plus game makers do need to bear in mind that not everybody knows how to setup a car for racing I struggle a bit with this myself as I generally pick one of the default ones in the F1 games. I just pick based on what track I'm on and what the weather is doing. I think the fact that Grid 2's main problem for me was that is was to much arcade and not enough sim was it's problem not so much whether you could play around with setups. Plus the career mode was too short and it looks like to me that Grid Autosport in that regard has answered both those questions with a positive answer and ticked both boxes. This is only based on the things I've seen thus far though and feedback given. -
yeah these vids aer on the vid thread I set up and that's kind of what convic3ed me too that and the open wheel vids they've done as well
