Patch Notes for 1.15 – Discussion Thread

Yeah I liked the i9dea of driver transfer sand it was one of the main reasons why I bought the game I can see why the amount of them can seem a little crazy but the only solution I think was to do what they've done at leas tin the short term and give those that don't want it an off switch and those that are happy can leave it on. I'm one of the ones who were happy with it. Is it perfect? no but I don' t think it's an easy fix as it means rejigging the whole contract system for the player as well as the AI. As I suspect the driver transfer system works through that based on what I've seen. Fo rth system to work right is more a 2020 job than can be done in a patch the on/off switch is likely the best thing they can do in a patch which is what they've given us.

    F1 2019 A disaster.

From my point of view it's kind o fsimilar but I don' tactually play online just single player. But from an offline single player point of view it is very similar.

Patch Notes for 1.15 – Discussion Thread

or in my case on, on,on as I don't have a problem with them and I kind of like the idea of ma bit of a mixed up grid so I'll be leaving driver transfers on. They made a good decision of giving us the option given some are happy with it while others weren't so this suits both sides. I've not had any in my career yet but the possibility it can happen and mix the grid up is good for me and how I want to experience the game.

    F1 2019 A disaster.

Indeed whilst I wouldn't say the games bad as I think some of the graphics in particular the night lighting and things like that is some of the best I've ever seen in the F1 games as it now looks like the floodlights around the track in places like Abu Dhabi and Bahrain look like they genuinely are lighting the track up a lot like the stadium lights do in the Fifa games whereas whilst the night lighting before whilst looked OK it felt more like it was coming from an invisible source. There are definitely areas that need improvement though the AI being the most obvious one as I still feel they need to get the AI to around the same area difficulty wise of the previous games 2017 and 18. Because for me 2019 is definitely lagging behind those 2. Id it wasn't for the driver transfers to help spice things up based on what I've experienced of 2019 I'm not sure I'd be touching it much at all given outside of that and the improved graphics it's pretty much identical. Especially as I've not been playing the F1 games much these days. I have to admit I can't see myself being hyped for 20 given it was only the driver transfer admission that in the end convinced me to get 19 because before that I was on the fence and almost said no to this years game

No but COD isn't really my cup of tea these days.

    Patch 1.13 Any news?

For me I'd say it's still a tad too strong and I'd say there are a few people who agree with me on that so again I don't think there will be any further changes to the AI at least not on 2019

    Patch 1.13 Any news?

They did do the AI again in the last patch so I doubt they'll play with it any more at least not in F1 2019. As for the driver transfers I think the only short term fix available will be to add a toggle so people can toggle it on and off if they want as I know some are happy with it whereas others are not I'm happy with it for example so I'd probably leave it on. The reason I say that is that it's connected to the contract system that we the player uses so whenever we get to negotiate a contract every other team and driver on the grid is as well. The only way I can see them eliminating the problem is to go back to a contract system similar to what they had for F1 2016 and F1 2017 where you only had 1 mid season window and one end of season window.

    R&D in career help

Pretty much you can do them whenever you like but I tend to spread them out. I tend to do the track and maybe the tyre tests in FP1 Quali and race pace in FP2 everything else in 3. If It rains then yes I do tend to change it. But I do tend to always no matter what try to squeeze in the quali and race pace ones due to those being my strongest and I pretty much always pass those with flying colours which means I'll always be picking up a reasonable amount of points for upgrades.

    F1 2019 A disaster.

Yeah I have to admit from a gaming perspective I think I prefer 17 and 18 over what I've experienced in 19 but I think if they had kept the AI levels from 17 and 18 in 19 I think the game would have turned out better. At least from my point of view

Disappointed at F1 2020's release date

Perhaps but I think the games as a whole I think ran a lot smoother at least in my experience they did.

Disappointed at F1 2020's release date

I don't kno wabout thast as I don't think the earlier games had too many I thought F1 2010-2012 were al pretty clean I think but then all of those were released September time around the same time as Fifa. So I think more time definitely helps lead towards a better product but you have to be patient and wait for it. They started moving towards releasing the games earlier in the season around I believe 2015 when they finally moved to the newer consoles and since then it's been effectively one problem after another. TBH the closest at least for me they've came to making a solid game is really F1 2017 although 18 isn't too bad as I think the interviews and rule changes were nice additions as are the driver changes they've given us this year. For me the reason why the driver system is a bit skewed I think is because of the games contract system because there are so many potential windows you can move in. The ideas are there but they've just been poorly executed because I believe they've not really had the time to tweak them and get them right.

Disappointed at F1 2020's release date

Agreed the more they push to try to get the games out earlier the worse they end up being so I'd asy let them take the time they need to get it right. I mean look at Fifa this year they tried a similar tactic this year with Fifa 20 by cramming loads of new features in without any sort of proper testing and that has been hurt this year as well because of it and EA have a lot more resources to throw at these games than CM. Rushing games out to meet fan demands is never a good thing and I think that's one of the things that need to be learnt from this year. Take your time and get it right then you will be rewarded properly.

    Is Monaco still unplayable?

Yeah the only times I've won at Monaco it's mainly when I've been lucky enough to put it on pole and not had to overtake anyone. I'm OK if I'm out on my own but everytime I need to overtake it's pretty much been a no go. If it wasn't so much of a cash cow for F1 it would easily be dropped as there are far better street tracks tbh F1 has 2 of them on it's calendar already in Baku and Singapore. I reall yenjoy Baku in particular as that long start finish straight reminds me a little of those long straights from the old Hockenheim. I am a little better at Suzuka than Monaco though as it's only really that first sector that holds me back as I really struggle through that Esses section. The rest of the track's OK it's just a bit narrow and therefore not easy to nail an overtake if you need it. But like I said I just get the best result I can and move on.
  15. sjsharp2010

    Is Monaco still unplayable?

Yeah I think the majority of my race wins at Monaco have come in F1 2012 and in the majority of those cases it was a more a lights to flag win with me taking advantage of the fact no one can overtake me due to the narrow track as I started the majority of them on pole I think so I didn't really do any overtaking in those races.
  16. sjsharp2010

    Is Monaco still unplayable?

I don't think Singapore and Baku are a problem as they're quite wide tracks similar to what I've seen Indycar race on and if IndyCar can handle it so can F1 it's more I think that Monaco is built in such a way in that it's just too narrow for todays cars based on how todays cars perform. I agree with you in terms in that it's been well recreated but I don't think Monaco is really suited to racing any more and if it didn't bring in as much money as it does I suspect It would've been dropped off the calendar by now in favour of a better track.
  17. sjsharp2010

    Is Monaco still unplayable?

Yeah I've always had 2 tracks I struggle at more than any other no matter the game they are Monaco and Suzuka. Generally I just get the best result I can and move onto the next race and don't think too much about it. I have won on both tracks but I don't win often enough to consider them strong tracks as I think I've only ever won at Monaco maybe about 6 times at most and that's in all the races I've done there in all the CM games anyway For me I think it's mainly due to them both be3ing quiet narrow twisty tracks I tend to do better on tracks that are wider with long straights such as the Tilkedromes I think people call them.

    Silly mid-season driver transfers..

Yeah an on off toggle would be the best option I think as I'm OK with it and don't mind how it's working. TBH the transfer system was the main reason why I bought this years game so if it got removed I'd likely abandon the game and likely go back to just playing 2018.
  19. sjsharp2010

    Career mode drivers F1 2019

Well the transfer system kicks in at random but I think it also depends on what team you're racing for too. But you'll only see transfers after a contract negotiation window. Of which I think there is 4 throughout the season.

PLEASE RETURN BACK TO 1.03 PATCH. CODEMASTERS

I'm not sure on how it works but there is a process on Steam that will allow it. I'm not suer how but I did find out that it can be done as I was considering it myself rolling back to before they mucked about with the AI. Although the AI is still not perfect it's better than it was thanks to the latest patch. Like I said though you'll have to look it up and do it through your Steam account.

PLEASE RETURN BACK TO 1.03 PATCH. CODEMASTERS

you know you can always delete the patches and roll back to 1.03 if you want the only issue will be you won't be able to use online. It depends on what system you're on though as to how to go about doing it so you'll need to look that up for yourself..

    The Game Thread!

I've not started career yet on Fifa 20 but I know there's been a lot of complaints around that it doesn't bother me too much as I kind of like the idea of a more mixed up league. I have played a few games in Volta and in proper matches for practice and I have to admit I really do like how the game plays this year. Difficulty wise I think it's spot on for me so I'm hoping they don't change that too much like they did with 18. I plan to play the Volta story first though before starting career but just too busy with other things atm to even do that. I have had a look at the CC though they did a really good job with that. Still need to use them to create my manager and my Volta player for the story mode but I have a better idea of what I want to do for when I'm ready to start.

    Career mode drivers F1 2019

Transfers can happen anywherthouhg I believe most of the time the big name drivers such as Hamilton and Vettel though are more likely to join the teams that are at the top of the performance charts when the ymove based on what I've seen. This ismainly based on what I've seen on youtube careers as I've not had any transfers in mine yet but that's more due to not being very far into it as I'm still in my first season. Mainly becqause I put my career on hold over the AI situation. Now it's fixed though I may go back eventually but just too busy with other things right now

Well I do use the assists so yes probably.

Patch Notes for 1.12 – Discussion Thread

Yes they are better but not perfect it's more a minor improvement than a massive one really. I am having to turn it down a bit but I have found a level that I am semi happy with which i something I couldn't do before the patch. Though tbh I only tested it briefly. I tested it yesterday in career by completing my Canadian race weekend as that was wet. I'm still kind of tempted to roll the game back to before they changed the AI as I still don't feel it's where I want it but I'm less inclined to do so than I was.
