    Announcing F1 2015

given there is no career mode I suspect R&D wil be ditched as well given it was mostly there for career mode

F1 2015 Game Ideas and Suggestions

Ultimate Team is a great idea. It could work in an F1 game. Agreed and at least EA don't generally go about removing popular features like career mode either usually as they know what sells. Even if they do sometimes skimp a little on their support of games

    Project CARS

Indeed looking forward to playing it myself only 3 weeks away now Edit assuming it doesn't get delayed again  hopefully it won't though.

    Alcohol sponsors

For me it's the other way around I think mostly due to my disability as I can configure the controls exactly how I like. Whereas quite often you have to go with one of the preset options the game gives you on console and generally games aer not as flexible. That's why generally outside of sports games I tend to stay away from console games although I got a few recently on the cheap to try out that I think I might enjoy for my PS3.

not if CM give you a name like in race driver 1 that's what I was saying and stick to that name for the career mode. I was using Race driver 1 as an example of a game where you're playing as a cer6tain character trying to achieve something big as you would be in this game. Then all the commentators would need to do is just asy your characters name not your real name. For example they could say "And Ryan McKane puts it on pole with Hamilton starting alongside him on the front row" or something like that. I know they're not going down this route for 2015 but it's something they can consider adding if they decide to stick on this TV presentation route for 2016 and future games if they stay on this route. Just insert the characters name in that position Correct me if im wrong.... your saying if you play per say as Lewis... have them call you that in the commentary? And play as that very driver? thats would be the perfect solution. Maybe it was too late to smooth out that deal this year..... eaither way it was a poor move by the FOM. I don't blame it all on Codies.. those FOM guys have a big say on what goes on this game. yeah that's what I'm saying yes . I don't know whether you played race driver 1  but in that game you played a  driver in the game and you played as that driver in the story. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dZS07KZ1qGk As I was saying just incorporate a name into the story and a reputation system over a number of seasons and you'd have a kind of career mode back that would fit into what CM are doing with 2015 if they decide to stay with the TV style approach.

I'm guessing that's precisely why they didn't do it. Either they'd have to splice each name into pre-recorded lines on the fly, which always sounds terrible, or they'd have to record every line with every possible name, which becomes a massive amount of work even with just a choice of a few first names and surnames. They're going to need to do it with the names that are in the game anyway already in fairness so it's really only 1 extra name. That name whatever CM decide to call the players character. Bit like what Bioware have done with Mass Effect where your character is just generically called Commander Shepard no matter what your character looks like  and give us some generic heads to pick from would probably be enough. CM already did this with Race driver 1 and Blade did this with their Snooker series too and it works well in the gameso it's wfairly easy to do I'd suspect. They wouldn't need to splice anything really just add an extra name and go with it just like they did with race driver 1.

I wouldn't have thou8ght so as sometimes things get delayed so they have to give themselves room to manoeuvre. There will be more we just have to wait and I guess just talk about what we do know so far

Indeed I'd even support that as a replacement for career  as it  would probably work well having a story mode of sorts where you work your way up. Kind of like Race Driver 1 where you played as a driver called Ryan (sorry forgot his surname ) McAllen or something I think it was.  Either way that would have been better than just ditching the whole career mode entirely and give the guy a generic face or something. At least then you've still got a you are that person in that universe kind of feel to it which is why I enjoy the career mode working to build a reputation and improving aqnd getting to race with the better teams. Also with this idea it would make it easier to incorporate that into the TV/presentation idea they've came up with as all they would need is to add the name of what your character is called such as in Race Driver 1 where the commentators can just use the name Ryan McAllen or whatever.

    The Game Thread!

Agreed i9t looks pretty awesome. Got to admit though if this is what they're doing with Star Wars I think I'm going to love Mass Effect 4 when it launches next year as this wil be a good indication given both games are using this engine.

    Announcing F1 2015

I like the idea of the concept as it gives a wider scope to the feel of the game. However I don't think it should have been at the expense of other features though like career mode. What I would have done was kept career mode and ditched the scenario  and season challenge modes and replaced them with the championship and pro race mode that are in 2015 (the hardcore mode they've introduced). Because for me though if any modes needed ditching it's them and only them as I don't think those modes were ever that popular anyway.

Have to agree with that I've got to admit it seems my feelings about this game and deciding not to buy it right now are proving more and more to be  right at least for me.

    The Game Thread!

Just having a relaxing day playing International Snooker  Forgot how much fun a good mental challenging game this can be. Will probably get careers on the go again on my old Blade interactive Snooker games as well at some point.

    Announcing F1 2015

I don't f*** care about my name. I want to have a mode where I can start as a rookie and work my way up to Tier1 and become a F1 champion after a hard fight ... not in one season but like in real life after 5/6/7 years - in best case of course. Injdeed that's the thing I like about career mode as well if I was asked whether I'd prefer pretty TV style graphics otr an immersive career mode I'd choose career mode every time. I'm not saying having the TV stuff isn't good but these should have been added as extra not instead of imo.

    Announcing F1 2015

By far the worst change they've made. You could simply run season mode if you wanted before. Now people who like Career mode have no choice.  It's pretty selfish of you to be glad that a decent portion of the player base just got screwed, because it caters to your short attention span. exactly because right now those people that liked the career mode in the game are likely to be giving the game a wide berth which means less money for CM to help develop this series further and will no doubt hurt their chances of renewing the license too. I know I'll be staying away unles it's restored or I find it in a Steam sale for £10 as tbh that's all it's worth without career mode. I'm certainly not paying £30-40 for a game that doesn't give me what I want. Dosen't matter to me whether it has the F1 label on it or not as I've still got the older ones to play as far as I'm concerned that do have it. I don't always feel the need to always have the newest product. I like the looks of what they've done with the graphics and everything but to me they're mandatory improvements anyway that you'd expect in a new gen game but it takes moer than shiny new graphics to convince me.

    Announcing F1 2015

I think that's where the championship mode comes in as it's like Pro mode but without being a hardcore sim  where you can choose race length assists and anything else just like you can in the older games

    Little research

Indeed I generally only buy games if I'm going to get sufficient enjoyment out of them with 2015 I don't think I will so I'm likely to be staying away till the Steam sale and I can get it for £10  or something right now.
  22. sjsharp2010

    Little research

    This is actually the 7th: 1: F1 20092: F1 20103: F1 20114: F1 20125: F1 20136: F1 20147: F1 2015 tbh I don't really count 2009 as it wasn't on the mainstream consoles but yes I do agree they've had several shots at it now.
  23. sjsharp2010

    Little research

Exactly that's the option I'd have clicked because I never decide on any game one way or another without info on it first.
  24. sjsharp2010

    Little research

Same. Career mode was really the main reason I played the games. If it's gone, I'd probably not buy it. If it's in a Steam sale like for  £10 then I may pick it up because as I said everything else looks pretty solid but tbh as it stands right now it's the only way I'd be likely to be buying it because without career mode for me I can't say it's worth much more.

That's why I think they went with Davidson given they know him and Crofty given they've worked with them ever since this series started. Just a guess, but I'd say Martin Brundle probably commands a higher price tag than Anthony Davidson. possibly that too but Brundle has done commentary before on these types of games as he was on F1CE but it doesn't bother me who does the commentary as long as it's done well.
