    Announcing F1 2015

So it's 2 months until release, there is no trailer nor any gameplay footage. Codemasters's future is on the line here promote your game! they're planning on it I believe they just haven't got it all ready yet.

    Announcing F1 2015

Namco are only publishing it not making it same as with CM's F1 games they're only publishing them it's up to CM and Slightly mad studio's to make them. if the racing & online mode is great, then lacking a career mode wont matter to most I think you underestimate the amount of offline players, I'm sure there are others who are dedicated racing fans like myself who only play offline. Then there are all those casual players, the majority of who play offline because they don't feel skilled enough or don't have the time to get confident enough to race online. Agreed after all that's the only thing that keeps me going on this series. Without some sort of career or story mode it's unlikely I'll buy. Because as you said I'm not skilled enough to play online but I'm fast enough to take on the lower levels of the AI. I know I'm buying P cars as in fact I already have it on pre-order. Whether I buy F1 2015 is still up for debate. At the moment though I 'm not but that can change depending on what info CM decide to share with us between now and launch.

    Announcing F1 2015

My biggest problem with racing online, is most people are idiots, even the people who can drive. They'll cut down and spin across your nose if you're to the inside and cry that you wrecked them because they "had the line". Even though if they even simply watched a single race, they'd know that's not how you race properly. (I'm not talking about dive bombs either). The best example of this mentality is on this very forum. When Grid autosport came out and people were defending the way the AI just ran you over in the corners.  Its like an elitist attitude or something, and its annoying. Granted there are good races to be had, but they are so few and far between, its just not worth it. Not everyone has time for a league unfortunately. So its randoms or AI, and atleast with AI I can rewind if they run me down due to stupidity. That's why I generally stick with career mode too. Also I'm not a particularly quick driver any way so basically that just leaves me with racing AI anyway I can compete with the Amateur and Intermediate AI on the games but that's about my limit.

Hope Pocchetino's been watching my pro's progress helping Ipswich get to the quarter final of the FA cup against Arsenal. Not played the match yet but progressing very well.

    Announcing F1 2015

I wouldn't asy that as it still says Codemasters on the box so I think it's pretty clear to everyone who makes the games. They'er just publishing through a third party because it's easier and cheaper for them to do so. Especially given how expensive the F1 license is to obtain.

    The Game Thread!

Agreed the only game I've had with that many discs was an X files game That was 7 CD's though not DVD's Yeah me too I'm surprised games companies for physical copies haven't switched to putting them on Blu-rays either especially given they have pretty big capacity and consoles now use them and I think at least most desktop PC's are sold with a Blu-raty drive like you I have 1 in mine as well. Although in my machine I have 2 drives the second is only a basic DVD one though but that's for another reason not for gaming. No most people don't have them in their PC's hence why they don't use them, infact a lot of PC's made or sold don't have any disc drive at all now due to digital content. I'll never have one in my PC as its a waste of money, I don't even have my DVD drive hooked up as I never use it. Most of the PC's I've seen on Amazon have Blu ray drives based on what I've seen though that's what I was reffering too. I only have a second drive in mine for playing region 1 DVD's as I have a few what I call American format discs and I tend to use my PC as my main DVD player. Works well though.

    Announcing F1 2015

Before then I believe CM did it all themselves I think. Nope. Bandai Namco did all the Formula One titles from 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014. Now 2015 as well. Yeah since they've had the F1 license yes Namco have been the publisher but before they had the F1 license back when they were working on the Snooker series with Blade Interactive and all that (way back in the age of the dinosaurs) :p  they published their own games themselves they haven't always worked through a third party like they do now. That's what I was referring too. But with gaming and the internet pretty much taking centre stage now it's obviously to big for CM to handle alone which is why I think they work through a third party. They asked who did it before CM turned to Namco to publish their games and I believe that is the answer

    The Game Thread!

Dosen't seem to matter how many times I do it racing Hockenheim in reverse just feels weird even though I know it well thanks to F1 great fun though. Having a great time though playing Grid Autosport this evening
  10. I agree I think they eventually will do one for the next gen but seeing as we have had 2 Grid games effectively back to back with 2 and Autosport. I think it's a good idea to rest the Grid series even if it's just for a year or 2 and see how things go with F1 2015 and the next Dirt first once Dirt has had a look in itself on the next gen then maybe after that they can see what they can do to bring Grid up to next gen levels. They won't turn their back completely on Grid given they are a racing game studio effectively now but it does now probably need a break so they can focus on something else.
  11. tbh I don't really care much either way really and assuming there isn't a career mode I'm not sure it'll make much difference.
  12. 0% I believe they've already stated that they're working on F1 2015 and concentrating on giving us a new Dirt game as well eventually. They're taking a break from the Grid games for now

why in the 2014 game does the McLaren have the test livery and not the true race livery they had in Melbourne 2014? and why has it not been fixed? just saying lol I'd guess that maybe they couldn't get it licensed or approved is all. Well that money you betted will be gone.. Because on pure pace mercs are unbeatable against the other ai, if they are 1-2 and there are no safety cars or rain interruptions where the ai panic and do silly decisions the mercs will beat any ai by a fair margin, so maybe play the game before you start bashing them..  Yeah I agree I think CM's AI is pretty accurate I think for the most part.  Yes the AI did get a little mixed up sometimes on the earlier games but then CM programmed them that way to mix things up a bit and provide the player with different challenges in the career mode from season to season to prevent it from becoming too stale. I personally felt that worked quite well and I liked that feature in the earlier ones and I'm not sure why CM took it out tbhin 2013/2014 as it always keeps the game fresh at least to me. I know a few others @Wynterdust among them was another who liked this feature  Yeah in my 2014 game too the Merc's were on my tail all season long whenever I had managed to get in front and the times when I hadn't been in front myself they pretty much won on 2014 so I agree it's pretty damn accurate and even though I managed to take 6 race wins they still took the title.

    F1 2015 Information Thread

Well, I have both because A. Madden franchise isn't available on PC and B. PC is obviously about modding more than anything. Like I said before, I purchased a PS4 for one reason really, and that reason was Madden, however it doesn't mean I won't purchase other titles, because I already have. I do many things with PC which far more than I could ever do with a console, and it makes sense to purchase games for PC as well. Yeah that's primarily why I have a PC and console too only in my case I chose the XB1 over the PS4 of the new gen mostly because I wanted to finally have a go at Halo given I'd never really played those games aside from 1&2 on the  PC and given 3 and 4 are only available on Xbox it seemed the logical choice. I also thought with the new next gen graphics they've put into the anniversary version of 2 it was definitely worth the risk. Sports games in general Fifa aside only seem to get console releases these days. PGA/NBA and NHL only get console releases as do the tennis games for the most part and I enjoy playing those games as well from time to time which is why for me it's worth having both. Fortunately I did a PC course at college so I know my way around a PC if I do suffer tech issues anyway so in my case I can get away with it although I do know how tricky it is for some who don't understand the tech as it took me a while to figure it all out as well. Well I use PC's nearly every minute of the day really, if not for work(right now! LOL), then for personal use. I have done many modding for many different titles I own, not just the F1 series from CM.   so do I really now but mostly for gaming as I don't have a job and being disabled as I am it's hard for me to get one  but still I do enjoy my games and that's the most important thing in these instances. I grew up with computers had the Amstrad CPC 464 as my first machine even programmed a couple of games for that. Graduated eventually over to the Commodore Amiga 500+ then eventually onto the first Pentium machines that they did along with Windows 95. It took me a while to figure them out but I did learn and worked hard at it. In fact I never really used a console properly until the PS1 came along.  I did have a portable one in the Sega Game Gear which I used to play an awful lot at school during any spare time I had and got really good at the Sonic games in fact beat Sonic 1 once without losing a single life which is probably my best achievement on the game. Not so good at that now though but I don't play Sonic as much as I used to although I do have those games on PC now as I found them in a Sonic pack.I mostly bought the pack out of nostalgia really as they're still fun games to play even if they do show their age now.  I don't usually do any modding although I do  download some mods for games like a grip mod for F1 2013. Recently downloaded a hairstyle mod for the first Dragon Age game Origins to add a few more hairstyle options but haven't looked at it yet was thinking about it for my next run though. I don't download many as I usually prefer to leave the games as they are and a lot of them I've not been able to get working properly either so abandoned the idea in the end it's still good fun though.

Call of Duty. Is it Dead ?

I wouldn't say dead as I know my brother loves playing the game but I'd like to see some better single player stories and maybe some RPG elements to make the player think a bit or something just to expand the sp experience a bit. I do think the Advanced Warfare game was pretty good but I don't jump on the game every year though as I know it is very repetitive.

Hi Britpoint - thanks for the response! I understand everything you're saying, but I still don't agree because I feel like everything you've described can be updated after release, if it really can't be done before.  Every other major sports franchise releases their yearly game right before the season starts, then releases updates to account for anything that changed after the game went gold.  Why not have a small patch 1.01 to update some liveries or driver line ups, then always plan a bigger patch 1.1 to update performance/handling, or even to add a team like Marussia who's status was a bit up in the air until the last minute.   Interest for an F1 season is never higher than right at the start of the season, and fans would want to play F1 201x in conjunction with the current season, not 3 months after it starts.  Perhaps but most games such as fifa are just switching out one player for another to correct for the transfer market for the most part so it's not exactly anything major and that's quick and easy to do I've done it myself in the past on older Fifa games when I haven't bought the next years version. With the F1 games it's a lot more complicated because you need data on the cars to work from and until they at least do winter testing there is no data and in realterms you can't really start to form a semi realistic order until after the first3/4 races as you have to give the teams and cars a chance to settle down a bit. In reality I think June is probably realistically the earliest it probably can be done. I have to admit though I expected more of a July release than June as I expected it to be more of a summer break kind of release. So Kudos to CM for being more efficient than expected given the troubles they've had lately.

Which was exactly what I was trying to say. I don't know all the inner workings of these things as I've never been part of anything like what you do However I do realise these things need to be done before the release of any game. Which was what I was trying to explain.

I doubt they'll ever manage to do that as they need a look at the cars first and foremost before they can go in the game and they don';t get to see them any earlier than we do. IU think the June/July period is realistically probably the earliest it can be done.. Fortunately it won't have to go up against projects like PCars every year.  but this time around it could hurt things Cars are unveiled in late January.  6 Weeks is more than enough time just to create some car models and liveries.  Now, in their defense, I'll give it to them that there may be a lengthy FOM approval process, but they could easily have the game finished by the end of January sans the cars, then focus the last development on the car models/FOM approval to get it released a bit earlier than what we're seeing this year, and I hope we at least get a May F1 2016 release, and then maybe April F1 2017. Won't happen and you're forgetting about the AI here as well the cars need to be programmed in such  a way in that they're preforming in a semi realistic way if not 100 % accurate as in Mercedes winning a lot of races atm. Ferrari getting close on a few tracks the order of the AI and how they perform. Yes these things will be updated throughout the season but having some of it in place as early as possible will make the job easier for them later on. They need to know the pace of the cars and how they're performing otherwise you'll end up with a completely unrealistic grid and they can't do this without some form of data.

    Project CARS

I'll take your word for it @Hughesy but based on your vids the game still looks pretty damn good though compared to racing games we have at the moment.

maybe not for the true fans of racing games but it might affect the casual audience a bit more. I guess only time will tell though as I could be wrong. OK but realistically how many casuals actually go out and spend £50 on a game like this? I wish Codies would stop trying to pull these people in and just make a good game for the people who will truly appreciate it I think they tried that with F1 2013 and it ended up being a bit of a mess and had I known it was going to be in that kind of mess I know I wouldn't have bothered buying the game. So I think CM are trying to tread more lightly this time which is understandable as they don't want to repeat those sorts of mistakes again hence the creation of a Pro mode I think in 2015 for the more hardcore sim lovers so those that prefer the older way of playing can still use the old simcade way of doing things. Maybe this idea of theirs will work maybe it won't but either way we won't know until the game comes out in June. I don't know about you but I haven't bought any game for £50 and last I checked on Amazon the PC version was actually closer to £30 than 50 so it's not necessarily so that you will have to pay £50 for it so it may do you some good to shop around if you're not happy paying that kind of price as that's what I do.

    F1 2015 Information Thread

I hear that!...I am have been playing F1 2010 more than the other titles! ;) ...Now that was a great game Codemasters... So do I I'm in the middle of a career mode on it atm. Enjoying it immensely had some great battles yesterday on it. Well, forgive me but, what platform are you using? I always use PC nowadays, I have a PS4 but actually I only use that for Madden and a few others - other than that its just stuck there! :/... I'm digressing...Back to 2010... Yeah, well I am on PC and like I said, I re-installed it a few days ago after switching to Win8.1. I was having a few issues before but I found a solution. But anyway, I installed it and put the mods what I still had back in - and with a few newer mods, and the game has been an eye opener in comparison to the newer titles!. Everything is so much better...And I ask myself what went wrong??? I really don't understand what possessed them to take the series in the direction it has gone...?. Of course, the visual aspect has improved no doubt, but everything else IMO has deteriorated. However, the only annoyance I have is when you change gear and the delay of that action. Its only minor and you get used to it but, its an annoyance without question, and I have yet to discover a 'fix' for it, as most of the old mods for the game are either removed or are very limited. Anyway, my point being is that when you are finding that the first title in the series - which will now be in its 6th year - to be the most exciting/ interactive/ enjoyable version to date, then there has been some serious issues within the development team at Codemasters!...Who's to blame...? Also, I would also like to add my take on the AI in F1 2010... In comparison to the newer titles, it is my opinion that the AI was 'better' then than it is now!. I had a race at Hockenheim in the Renault as Kubica, and I had the best race I can remember!...The other drivers were constantly trying to pass me - even going side-by-side through corners etc, it was brilliant! Where has all this gone...? I own it on PC and PS3 but I mostly play it on PC I do own an XB1 aswell but the only racer I have for that atm is Forza 5 as I bought that and Fifa 14 as my first 2 games for it. I have bought other games since then for it mostly sports but no racers. the only non sports game I have for the XB1 right now is Halo Master chief collection atm. I'm looking to get more though at some point though I think.
