Hughesy said:One cool touch they have added, whilst going through the tunnel at Monaco if you get the engineer talking to you its all fuzzy :D I just like that attention to detail, but maybe that's just me.yeah that's one thing I'm liking too the attention to detail they've given the game this time out. Especially the night races. .Sometimes I do play on a higher level (usually only when I've had a season where I've dominated though) but I thought I just wanted to win first time out and given CM's AI in the past, I wasn't sure what settings to pick so I normally in those situations start on the easiest settings and work from there as that's what I tend to do with most games.
Also it wasn't that easy to win as I didn't clinch it till the penultimate round in Brazil so the Mercs made me work for it. I may play at a higher setting later but I'll see how I do in the 2015 cars first. Was thinking those colourful blue and yellow Sauber's might be a nice challenge. Plus I'm racing for Sauber on 2010 atm so I'm tempted to have a go in those when I do it.

Well I generally prefer to fight for the win personally. So for me it's the right setting really -
Well I did have a lot of close races so not sure about that.RevolvingPrawn said:You need to up your difficulty if you're winning the WDC with Button :p

Another nice little touch I saw last night on F1 2015 is the day/night transition rescales itself based on what length of race your running. I found that cool. Also saw Jenson doing doughnuts in Brazil after I secured the championship with him that was also cool. -
Same here must be al those folks moaning about F1 2015 :p -

Only changes front wing though, when really you need more rear in the rain and less camber. Seems silly to me though. Btw I've upped the difficulty up to expert, I'll be doing my first race using it soon. Just doing qualifying at Spain in the wet, and I'm still P1, but I expect them to be faster in the race. I finished the last race 20 seconds ahead of P2, so needed to make it harder.RevolvingPrawn said:Yea seems there isn't a way to check the whole weekend actually, thought you meant the session weather Sharpy.
There's a way around it at least ;) Ask your engineer for the weather forecast as soon as you start the race is the first bit, and if it does start to rain then use the D-pad to select more downforce at your next stop when you put on inters. Helps a fair bit :)
Edit: Wow that was close, while reading you post and then posting the track dried up. The session ended and I was P10 in Q2 so just made it through, as they had fitted dry tyres...lolyeah I'm compensating by turning parc ferme off and saving setups for various weather conditions. Then load up what I need for the appropriate session. Best I can do for the moment. I just hope it gets patched/corrected. At least that's how I'm working around it right now.
Must say I'm really impressed by the Singapore circuit whoever worked on that needs a pat on the back it looks fantastic

yeah read that last night.Hughesy said:@Lukedfrt Nintendo president has died :(

Kind of looking forward to the new PGA game though looks nice on the frostbite engine. Having said that most games using that engine are. -
Is there any way to check what the weather is going to be on race day In F1 15? As all I see is weather for the current session, and if it's wet on race day I can't change my setup. You could see the forecast for all sessions in past F1 games...yeah that's what I was asking @Hughesy I can find the weather for the current session but not for the whole weekend. Because if you play with the parc ferme rules you need to know this. It cost me in Australia as it rained and I hada dry setup and it almost cost me in Austria as well. Fortunately there I was able to hang on. I think we definitely need his added as it does make the game harder without it.
I've noticed the glowing brakes on the cars but not the paddles glowing no. But then I've not driven much in the 2015 cars yet. I've been playing with the 2014 ones. The only 2015 car I've driven was the Sauber last night which I took for a quick blast round Mexico.jordieDAFC said:Anyone noticed that the 2015 Mclaren's gear paddles glow orange when braking? Obviously its got the same textures are the brakes :L -
Like I said there is a guy called what the hell posting a lot of rubbish also Hammymansell's back so you may need to watch him but he's under another name now. But seeing as he's been jumping names a lot it's hard to keep track of him right now. Especially as we know what kind of trouble maker he can be.PeteTheDuck said:Bloody hell I've got 21 pages of threads to read through in F1 General Discussion alone, which is basically 420 threads.

well where is it? As I can't find it on any of the displays I'm only finding the weather for the current session that I'm in. not the full weekend forecastRevolvingPrawn said:
They did :p wesjsharp2010 said:Don't know why they haven't included a weather forecast on the game to allow you to plan ou the settings on your car though they do need to sort that out at least I think.

Personally I prefer cooler weather than hot especially when my body seems to struggle with the heat. Not much I can do about it though except keep my room dark and block out the sun. Wghich isprecisely what I am doing. -
RevolvingPrawn said:Just about to start my first Championship race at Melbourne playing as Vettel (yes, really lol). Qualifying done, and against Legend AI I'm on pole by 0.6 lol. 1:25.972 against Rosberg's 1:26.639 :) Probably gonna be overtaken on the run to the first corner because I haven't figured out how to get a good start yet, but I'll fight back.
In terms of AI and driving this game is good, there's just many little annoying things that need sorting out.
yeah it's just little annoying things really. But CM are bringing out patches so lets hope most of the most glaring problems are dealt with because the game in general is pretty solid. Or at least the most important parts are I think.Hughesy said:The mystery of the floating wheel..... :joy: It's just stuck there lol, I wonder who's it is and how it's floating
Must be Ricciardo's :p Was just racing China myself and I ended up lapping him twice and he was going very slowly on both occasions. Didn't notice he was missing a wheel though. Also we know Red Bull gives you wings. :p

Think you need to get your ban hammer's out again guys(@f1since08 & @petetheduck ) that hammy mansell guy's back and back with a vengeance -
Hughesy said:I haven't had this much fun in a F1 game racing the ai since GP4. It's sad that so many are overlooking the fact that Codemasters have finally nailed the AI after years of trying. If you go into a corner side by side they don't chicken out if they can get past. Looking at the reviews on Steam I think people are rating it down just becasue others are, whenever someone says something positive they just get labeled a fanboy. It's always the way that the vocal minority are the ones that are negative. The people that like the game are too busy having fun.
Im going to write a review on Steam in a bit, I have my body armor ready :joy:yeah I agree I'm not saying it's not without it's problems because there are quite a few but it is a good start to next gen I just hope that the features that weren't brought back this year like career mode get brought back next. I think it will though it certainly sounds like CM want to bring those features back but wanted to make sure the game had a solid base to work from at the start which I think they now have.

3 races 3 podiums 2 wins not bad for a supposedly bad underperforming car. That's my record in the McLaren as Button on F1 2015 so far in Championship mode -
Hughesy said:Never had such a fun race. Started 1st, but got bogged down at the start, so I was 4th by the first corner. I managed to fight my way upto 2nd, and then was battling with Rosberg the whole race. I passed him but he kept coming back at me, he pulled a great overtake on me on the 3rd corner around the outside. This never happened in previous F1 games, so that alone makes this the best game they have made. Having AI that actually react and race you is amazing. At the last stop I pitted a lap early on Rosberg, and the undercut worked, I then controlled the race and won it. :D
@LiteralZero whoever worked on the ai deserves a medal, it was always the one thing that let previous versions down. It's not the only improvement, but it is the biggest IMO. I'm a very happy Hughesy o:)
Yeah the T-cam needs raising a bit as I'm finding it hard to judge my braking points. Other than that I'm enjoying it so far. The AI feels a lot like 2012's game to me and 2012 for me up until now for me had the best AI By that I mean fast enough to be a problem if you make a mistake but not so fast as that you can't race them. Which to me is very important as I'm not the quickest of drivers. I've only done 3 lap sprint races so far but I intend on doing a few longer races today.Edit just finished my 100% round Abu Dhabi as Button in the McLaren finished 10th 1 lap down but it was good fun race though. The day/night transition looks just as beautiful as ever on the new engine.
-
Personally I agree with @Hughesy here I quite like what I've seen thus far. Haven't done any Championship races but will do a little later. Was going t odo a quick race round Hockenheim and a 100% round Abu Dhabi see what the day/night transition looks like on the new engine. But after that I'll be off to Melbourne to start my first championship. -
Hughesy said:The good news the ai are fun to race and aren't chickens like previous games. The slightly bad news, the FFB is brilliant, it's much better than the other F1 games, but isn't PCars or AC. So far just doing quick race, the physics are much improved I think, much more of a sim compared to what they've done before. It won't be until tomorrow until I see what the game is really like (well actually today as its Friday already) It's nice that you have the 2014 cars as well :)
Edit: Now I'm starting to get used to it I'm liking it more and more, I'd go as far as to call it a sim now as its so easy to spin out. Love it :Dyeah I agree I was going to start with 2014 first and then move to 2015 afterwards
Edit: Had my first go on the game now. Struggling a little with the handling atm but I think I'm slowly getting to grips with it. The only issue with the game I'm having right now is the |T-cam is a bit low and it's making it more difficult to see that far ahead like I could see in the earlier games. Managed to get a win in Bahrain in the McLaren and a podium at Sochi. Also managed a 7th place at Monza all in all a good game so far.

finishing up my Australian gp on 2010 first then I'll be on it.Hughesy said:F1 15 is unlocked on Steam :D

I'll likely only be doing some 3lap practice races around some of my fave tracks tonight then start serious on it tomorrow with a 100% round Abu Dhabi to see the day/night transition in action and after that start a 2014 championship season on it with Button. At least that's my plan anyway.Hughesy said:Really want to go to sleep until midnight, as then I can play F1. I'm really excited, not sure I'll play much tonight as I'll be too tired. Just hoping for good physics, good FFB and ai that is fun to race against. From the looks of it the ai do look a lot better. I can't say how FFB is until I try it, but I really hope it's better as every F1 game so far has had crap feeling which leads me to be slow.

Going to get some practice in on F1 2010 ready for 2015 I think today -

But why does this stop you in any way from playing singleplayer? At the end of the day it's the car you are driving, not the person. It's really no different to past F1 games, you can still do seasons, and as a bonus you can actually do F1 14 & 15 seasons. Singleplayer is what I mainly play and I don't see the issue, at the end of the day it's just a name in the hud. The actual racing and physics are what's important in a racing game.sjsharp2010 said:RevolvingPrawn said:To be honest no career mode doesn't really bother me much. Probably 90% of the single player races I did on the last 2 games were using real drivers anyway so it won't be all that different. The main things that really interest me is physics and AI so I'm hoping both are improved this time round.
It does bother me though because I primarily play in the SP modes on games and without it it's unlikely I'll spend as much time playing it but then if I want career mode I suppose I still have the earlier ones for that and the old engine isn't that bad. I have to admit though I am impressed by the graphics this year. But this is more a game thread discussion than a stuff thread one
When you play FIFA what do you do? You play as a team, so how is this any different. GP4 was the best F1 game and you know why? Becasue they focused on physics and AI, the core things that make a racing game. Not having a go at you bud, but reading the same thing over and over and over and over and over again in the GD section is rage inducing.
Why no career
Why no safety car
Why no this and that. :joy:
PS: Why is this being talked about in this thread instead of Game thread.
Blame Matt he was the one to start the discussion of F1 2015 in this thread :p It doesn't and you're right but I just prefer to play that mode and is the mode I spend most of my time in. Mostly because I like the idea of building a reputation as I progress in my attempts to win the title each season. Also I like seeing my name in the championship standings. Like you I'm getting tired of seeing people moaning about it in there too but there you have it. They do have a case I have to admit but like you say it does get tiring after a while.Besides I'm thinking I will buy it now anyway I was going to wait til the price dropped but it looks like my F1 bug is winning me over.Decided to buy in the end.If it wasn't for the fact that everything they have included looked so good I probably wouldn't have bothered tbh.

Yeah I had a few troubles with backmarkers too in my season. Ericsson in the Caterham was particularly bad
