    Hello there folks!

Quick apology on my side as I was visiting family this past week so I have only just got back into the office this morning.

As for the Project Cars discussion, in a thread such as this, discussion surround the career mode in the game and comparisons between that and the F1 games are fine in my eyes, as long as it is on-topic and civil. If the thread strays into a discussion purely about Project Cars then something might have to be done. For now, everything is (mostly) fine.

Again, I know you want info, and it's not great we haven't been able to communicate with you as much as I'd personally like, but some of that isn't under our control (I know, you hear this a lot, but it's true).

I'm about in this thread if you have any questions (within reason of course ) and obviously as always on Twitter.

Thanks @LiteralZero, although to be fair, certain threads including this one has become mainly a Pcars discussion group..., and how can people compare it to F1 2015 when clearly they are not the same game...?

However, you're the manager so its in your hands; any mention or post is happen to view in relation to 'that' title I will just pass by...

    So, Questions...Mmmm, let me think...

The podium celebrations..., what can we expect to see in regards to them? - Do they differ in any way from podium to podium, the drivers reactions etc...?

Your logic is off... nobody is trying to compare project cars with f1 2015 (because the game is just not out yet..also the lack of info)... we are however trying to compare it to some of the past Codies titles.

That's exactly my point though...How can all this talk about Project C**P have anything to do with F1 2015 at this moment in time as we haven't seen the game in its entirety as of yet, and therefore F1 2015 could  be leaps above what we've all been expecting!...

...And by the way, trying to compare a 'Next-gen' title such as PC*** to 'Old-gen' titles is completely redundant in itself...

(Even the development team behind F1 2015 are stating 'faults' in the handling characteristics of PC***! :)

But we have seen pCARS in it's entirety and we can say SMS did a very good job. This is the thread about F1 2015 having no career mode and we know that F1 2015 does not have a career mode.  So why the hell can't we say SMS did a better job on the Formula classes career mode?

And why are you using the pCARS name like it is some kind of filthy word? I really wonder what your gripe is with pCARS? If you are a motorsports fan or even only a F1 2015 fan you really should have some respect for SMS.

When I am at the SMS forum I never talk bad about Codemasters F1 series because there is lot's of stuff Codemasters does better than SMS.
I like Project Cars, but the career mode is shallow and a poor substitute for the depth and strategies you get in a dedicated f1 focused game really. The regulations in pcars aren't consistent, like AI cars not obeying blue flags. There's no safety car and debris stays on track after a wreck, The AI also isn't affected by rain, and strategies are further thrown out by the awfully clunky pitting.

True but given that P cars is not F1 specific i9s what sets it apart at least for me it's more like a Grid Autosport style game with next gen features at least that's how I see Pcars. I do really enjoy the game a lot but ultimately that's how I see it. It's not going to have F1 rules because it's no0t supposed to be F1 specific if it was then it would have them. P cars was designed to be a more general motorsport game not specific to any certain discipline. If it were like that then like C|M's games it would contain  the rules it's just a more general racing title.

You have to look at when the first next gen dev kits were made available to developers. IIRC these were first made available to developers in April 2013, so it's reasonable to assume CM have had them since then. I remember at the time of release of 2013 there was some debate over whether it would be released on PS4/XB1.

I don't think he's trying to shill Pcars. He just doesn't understand where the bulk of the development work is on a game development project. It's easy in your head to say "this game has two cars and two tracks and this other one has one car and one track" therefore game 1 has 4x as much development time as game 2. In reality it's not like that at all.
I had a chance to visit Codies in February this year to try out DiRT Rally. During my visit I saw Lee Mather collect some next-gen dev kits from the Southam HQ. I'm pretty sure they've had other units before when developing the new engine, but I don't think they've many of them at the start of roll-out of new consoles.

Codies have admitted that they underestimated the take-up rate of the next gen consoles: PS4 and XOne. I think in the end it all comes down to the fact that the F1 dev team in Birmingham is not as big as people may think and developing a brand new engine was simply difficult and time-consuming.

So much so that the game is being approved quite late on by FOM, there is little hype generated and the game was delayed by a month.

Added to that the team didn't have enough time/resources and has made design decisions, which resulted in a lack of Career mode as we used to know it.

Time will tell whether it all pays off. I strongly believe if the core of the game: authentic and engaging handling, fluid gameplay and decent graphics, good AI and solid multiplayer is good then the word of mouth will do the marketing and the game will sell well over time.

The lack of info is quite worrying and I personally won't be buying on day 1 (I'd like to hear and read some feedback first), but I'm keeping an open mind and I do hope it turns out very well.
I also had the feeling last year that they underestimated the pick up rate of the next gen consoles. I was really surprised they didn't have a next gen version of F1 2014 whilst I noticed almost all my friends had switched to next gen consoles and Sony was even breaking records in sales.

I'm convinced that F1 2016 will be the game we always wanted but until now I'm still not convinced this year's edition is a must buy. Like many of us I have my hands full with that other racing game. I will surely pick it up once discounted. I think it's a pity as I know CM has F1 in their hearts but they have been making a lot of wrong discisons in the last 2 years

Yeah I agree I'll likely be skipping 2015 and hoping 2016 hits the mark. I admit I'm really impessed by the graphics and all and that might be enough to encourage me to pick it up on the cheap later on in a sale or something. At full price however they can forget it though as I need better gameplay options for that

I don't know man.. last i read this is the Formula 1 general discussing area, maybe Codies should rewrite the title to this area. it should not be limited to only Codies games. (weakness). Project Cars falls into Formula category.I sort of get what you are saying because this area is limited to only Codies games. It says so in the title category to this forum. But i think people really should be able to discuss whatever they want as long as its not stepping over the line. And its not like they are trying to shame anyone, yeah sure i test the lines all the time because im SUPER angry at Codies.

But I think they know half of the time im right, that is the only thing keeping me from getting banned in this forum. Plus my passion to get the sort of game we are all screaming for speaks for itself. These forums should be more open to ANY discussion of ANY racing game. Why not? it might even benefit them in some way getting ideas from other games (not saying Codies should be copy cats and copy every other game). But when a little poor studio like SlightlyMadStudios comes along that had to get funding from strangers and manages to be better at a game then a middle class company such as Codemasters (middle class lets say cause Codies could never compare to the big guys like Sony or EA) means they are doing "something" right. So anyway i doubt it hurts anyone to talk about Project Cars... Codies could learn a lot from them. However... your point is 100% valid.

Comparing Codies games to other's of similar ilk is fine in this section I think. However I will point out that there is both a game thread and a Pcars thread both in the Off topic section of this very forum. If you want to talk about those games specifically in a way that is not related to CM's games then in truth that's the place on here to go do it. That is if you still want to do it on here.

I'm the opposite, I can't sleep at all with a headache, just watching Top Gear Africa special on Dave whilst drinking a beer. Beer is the cure for everything I've found since I started drinking again a few weeks back :joy:
I tend to sleep better  when I'm not very well htan when I'm 100% though strange really but I find it helps.

oh dear makes me glad I live in a bungalow
If I had the money I'd make this room sound proofed like a music room :joy: Normally when he's doing diy I'll turn my music up (yea we really don't get on) but as I have a headache that's not practical...
One of the good things about living in a bungalow is I'm the only one who makes any noise. I do suffer from the odd migraine  but that's really the only time I really get any headaches but usually when that happens I can just sleep through it as it only lasts a few hours  still unpleasant though. Especially as they can often leave me with an upset stomach too.

Will all the practice sessions be availalbe in pro mode, this is a very big deal to me
yes but only in pro mode however. This has already been stated one of the few things we do know about this game.
Imeant to put championship mode? Think its really unfair if only pro mode has it. Since everyone will be paying the same price for the game not letting certain players have certain features because of their playing ability is ridicilous!
I agree however that's the decision they've made so I guess we'll just have to put up with it. Same as with the lack of career mode and if we don't like it don't buy it. At least that's the stance I'm taking anyway.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-32980354 Sorry to change the subject but there's been a rollercoaster crash at Alton Towers
This isn't quite the same, but when I was 15 I got stuck on Oblivion, just before the drop. It took 20 minutes for them to do anything about it, had to get taken off with help from the fire crew.... The staff are awful, so it doesn't surprise me something like this has happened, awful news.
Yeah I hurt my foot once at Alton Towers. I was holidaying in the area at the time haven't been back since but not the greatest holiday I ever went on but then I think that title goes to my trip to Florida

Why is it like that? How hard is to have all practice sessions in normal championship season to? Why can't we have all practice sessions just because we don't want to use the cockpit cam? Takes away career mode and can't even give us all the practice sessions again just because we want to use t-cam instead of cockpit...

Don't ask me ask CM they're the ones who made that decision. I merely reported what I remember reading but then it seems to me the whole 2015 game is a shambles anyway.

Exactly. I don't think it would really be possible. How could we take 1 month or so out of the football calendar in Europe? It would disrupt leagues, cups, European competitions...I just don't see how it would work personally...Maybe the season would have to end in June, but then that might disrupt other things..

Also, it could mean that some players end up away from families at Christmas, because although it is due to end on something like the 23rd December, Christmas travel is not exactly reliable is it?

in fairness though some countries leagues are still disrupted anyway we just don't see it because it's not generally our league that is disrupted in fairness. Given that for us we're in our close season then As leagues that are played during the summer still do get disrupted. So there would be disruptions somewhere regardless of when it took place. The only difference with the new dates for that is it'll be us that'll face it. A lot of the Scandinavian leagues play during the summer as do the US and Brazillian leagues. They've adjusted to having a WC in the middle of their seasons so I guess it's something we are going to have to adjust to.

Somewhat surprises me that the Witcher 3 is only 24GB, when the first game which is old is 16GB. Some good compression going on as The Witcher 3 is a much bigger game. It's only 2GB bigger than W2. The reason I'm going on about this is because I decided to reinstall the first game as I never finished it. It wasn't until the second game where I really got into it and started reading the books.
yeah I managed to get all 3 games on Steam for £50 which I thought was a good deal considering how popular it is and how big the world looks as well. Includes all the DLC's for 1 and 2 as well. If it plays as good as ME or more importantly Dragon Age (which looks likely) then I would say for me it'll turn out to be money well spent.

If Codemasters are adding the often requested podium sequences, then being in the game yourself wouldn't look very realistic, as you'd end up on the podium still wearing a helmet, as they wouldn't have a 3D model of your head!
In F1 championship Edition there was: Podium Celebrations in career (select someone who looked like you), Formation laps, Race car evolution (Ai engineer actually helped you to set up the car by doing laps in the Friday practices), Commentary (James Allen and Martin Brundle they even talked about AI battles!), Interactive pitstops (pressing controller buttons as quickly as possible) All this was in Career Mode and on the PS3 in 2007!
And you could even choose how to get to the top, go to a slower team as first or second driver and impress with good results. Or go earlyer to a big team as a test driver and try to get a racing seat there with impress in the tests. I loved everything about that game apart from pressing buttons on the pit, that is the teams jobs and not driver in my opinion..

But yeah, I just don't understand why a game from 2007 on the PS3(it was even there first game on PS3) is still the F1 game with the most features.
yeah if they'd  ditched the interactive pit stops it would have been better as it's not the drivers job to worry about changing tyres or refuelling it's the teams. The drivre's only responsible for getting the car round the track in one piece. Everything else about F1 CE was just about perfect for what it was. I've still got the game and it's thoroughly enjoyable.

Just had to choose between Triss and Yennefer in The Witcher 3, hardest gaming decision ever lol. You can have both but they screw you over later. Drank lots of beer and then chose Triss even though that goes against the books.
Oh one of those types of decisions is it? Save one leave the other to the wolves :p
Nope not at all, nothing like that. The truth is everyone's story will be different so I'm not sure how I've said any spoilers. He only has to choose a few different options and/or quests and his story will be different anyway. One part comes early ish in the game, so he might've made certain decisions already but hasn't paid attention ;)

Oh right I was just saying that as you do get a lot of moments like that in RPG's. Like for example in ME1 where you have to save either Ashley or Kaaiden and leave the other to die in the bomb blast. There's another similar decision in DAI whjere you have to choose between the Warden and Hawke to die in the Fade while you escape in both cases so far I chose Stroud to die as I didn't have Alistair/Loghain as the warden which is possible I chose to keep my Hawke alive.

Just completed the Landsmeet and declared Alistair as king. Now to dispose of the Archdemon

It'll happen on December, won't it?
Yeah I think it's been moved to January/Feb time I heard on Sky sports a while back when conditions are at their coolest in that area of the world. It means all the domestic action is likely to get postponed for about a month and the football calendar that year will be in a bit of chaos but unfortunately we'll just have to put up with it I think.

maybe they did survey and only 5% people uses career mode with their own driver :-/

this is very bad decision, you're suppose to add to the game, not remove
I very much doubt that. I'm guessing they didn't have time to implement it which is actually pretty absurd considering how shallow the Career mode has been for years.

Just look at the most popular F1 youtuber (Tiametmarduk) and his most frequent content - he's doing Career mode.
Agreed I'd probably say a good 80/90% play the career mode. As there are still a lot of areas that don't have great internet connections so rely on the singleplayer modes to keep things going and a lot of people prefer playing SP I happen to be one of them. I can't speak for everyone and I wouldn't but I'm pretty sure the use of career mode by people was pretty high. If I had to guess I would say it's likely time constraints played a role in their decision to leave it out but I can't say for certain. All I can do is decide whether I will buy the game and the answer to that right now is no.

Wembley is the 2nd biggest. If Russia get stripped of it then England should be hosts, I don't see Russia being stripped of it though.

Qatar on the other hand need to be stripped of the World Cup. It should be moved to Australia to keep it in the AFC.
that's what I meant (I cant see them stripping Russia of the WC Qatar maybe but not Russia but I doubt either are likely to be changed
