I've been wondering this since 2017 when i first started playing F1 on PC,
When you go do TT, do practice or qualification why does the flying lap start sooooooooo far? Some times it feels like it has no consistency at all. I remember one time my flying lap (driven by AI before the lights go out) started all the way from turn 9 at Melbourne. Also i remember few times when the lights started almost immediately. Most of the time you just look AI driving the car a long time before the lights start to go off.
My suggestion is that just start it 2-3 seconds before the lights are going out, now it's easily between 10-15 sometimes. Starting the lap from the finish straight is not plausible since theres like 3 meters between the last corner and the finish line in Russia.. Now it's a snooze fest at it's best and after '17, '18, '19 and now in 2020 it's really starting to bug me...
