I am having the problem with launching Dirt Rally from steam (also direct from .exe).
I have seen some old forum entries regarding this issue, but my problem just started and the old posts aren't helping. I have tried everything I have found online for a fix.
Verified integrity file via steam
uninstalled and reinstalled (several times)
Tried setting core restrictions in msconfig to 4, no luck. Edited .ini for cores, no luck
Set .exe to run in windows 7 compatibility mode (running Win 10)
Many other things I've found in various forums.
Tried running game direct from .exe, same thing
Problem:
Click start game (Steam), preparing to launch appears for split second, then nothing. No evidence in task manager that it is running, but steam says it is. Stop button does not work. I can run other games while this is "running", but I have to reboot to get it to stop "running" in Steam UI.
