When you, once again, need all the road available, to get that damn beast around the bend XD I found that the Audi was really snappy and unpredictable at first and tried to find a better car in Grp B... But uncovered that imho all drove like an untamed stallion. So I thought, If I have to invest some finetuning-time I can also pick the car I like most visually. And now I have a Quattro that is finally somewhat predictable to drive (at least on gravel for now) :) Even got some Top 10 times and am now the fastest Audi and quickest german on some stages :) Didn't fail to notice though: Those many finnish people seem to be very competent in digital rallying too... It has to be something up there in the culture, that they learn such intuitive car-control. maybe I should further investigate that But OT to get that lame-ass Gossip flow a little rolling again: Someone else noticed a Greek Flag in Sweden?? I sincerly still hope that Alvarez is the DLC-hint to Argentina and that the Greek Flag is just an old asset they had laying around. But maybe it's more than that? (Hopefully not, tricky narrow Argentina heavy Rocks ftw! ) EDIT: Why I mention a flag? All other flags ingame are from locations, that are also featured ingame. Was the same in DR. Greece is not in D4, so this stands out.

please CM, if you have to use those nefs archives, maybe next time make smaller chunks of them... It's really bad for my SSD if it has to rewrite all the gigabytes for every small patch... By the way, how are clubs coming along? Once I'm ze fearless h-shifter historic champion I will need those sweet sweet leagues against real players ;)
-
Just returned from a roadtrip through the alps and am now catching up to things. What I figured so far: - No Pizza found yet - new patch finally making fearless mode with H-Shifter possible and therefor the historical rally viable for me :) - Still no clubs-update and no leagues yet :( - Racenet was down, but for no intentional reason it seems. - Still no progress on repacking nefs-archives... - still the pattern of the puma-liveries hasn't arrived in the branding suite... Is there anything important I missed?
-
Noticed something that leads to a question: As you know there are several unique liveries on some cars available (Monster, Razer, WD-40, EBC etc.) But one caught my Attention: The Puma-Livery.(Fiesta R5, 4WD Truck, NR4 STI and one more) It looks like it was meant to be for the Branding Suite but it isn't. Has 4 Colors, 6 Sponsors and a Number-Sign in the same style as the branding-liveries. Additionally it looks like it would be a very capable awesome looking pattern with lots of sponsor-spots and so on. So why isn't it? Isn't / Wasn't it created for all cars in time but was intended @urgaffel ? Is it something close on the horizon to be added?

Normally I'm fine with 30 fps in most other genres. But not when you need muscle-memory-reactions in split seconds like in racing. And that video... Is it me or is anybody else noticing a horrible stuttering in some places?

GrpA Impreza: Winning the Triple Crown, all three events.

Well... for me I really don't see what Ypres has over Corsica or Germany(Vineyards) as a location... Both are full-tarmac with very narrow roads but more elevation change and more variation in scenery than Ypres, no? Sure, the more, the merrier, but if I had to pick one more tarmac-only event I would opt for Corsica, Germany or Monte any day before Ypres.
-
Y'all try to soften your anti-roll-bars in most car. I find that sliding feels much more natural that way for me. My i20 is currently running with ca. 50% the strength of the default setup for every location except spain.

Haha, wow. Guess I should've figured that no ones seen that movie... as AWESOME as it is. You guys kind of suck. If you want to get STAIGHT to the quote, go to 1:20. Ahh makes more sense now. Never seen that movie, but recognize that it was parodied in the Post-Credit Scene of Deadpool... it's something :) Look at me, I'm Mary Poppins Y'all !

Here's the livery on the i20:... That looks awesome, especially with Prodrive as the primary sponsor! In order to keep sponsors beyond initial contract does one have to simply keep them happy to avoid loosing them? Because it would be a shame to loose sponsors that make your livery "just right" Also, someone mentioned being able to extend staff contracts a few pages back and I asked about it then, but no one answered. Is it the same case of keeping them happy to retain them beyond the initial contract? You can extend staff contracts if you go visit them, before their contract ends and click on "view contract" or something in the context menu. There you can rebargain the contract and get a fresh new 6 championship time. For sponsors I found out that some start to reapear as available once replaced, but I couldn't find a way to predict that. Was happy I could reasign prodrive but some others like BP disappeared Wat?! Whatever your point here is (I haven't found it), isn't the term fascist anarchists contradictory? And whatever your point, you should always widen your horizon with looking abroad, if only to get inspiration for yourself. AFAIK Canada is going more euro-style in their politics lately and it seems to work better than us-politics so far, no?

Here's the livery on the i20: It's actually amazing Brembo pays me any money at all, considering their sticker is covered in dirt after a kilometer XD I have to say the livery looks even better on the Evo VI or the 2001 Subaru. The Hyundai has some rough edges, probably because it got added quite late in the process. Notice how the blue line over the headlights stops on the bonnet and doesn't go all the way to the grille Also, do you know that moment, when you think after the left 3 in the dark and rain "Well that was much to close for comfort...":
-
Refined my team livery to something great now. It finally looks most like a real rally-team with nice sponsors. Less seems to be more with the color scheme. Tackling the Triple-Crown-Rally on Fearless now with my i20 : Never noticed how the driver actually looks in the direction of steering. Great attention to detail ! edit: And the wheels are also visually deforming at the bottom. So many details you miss if not slowing down your replays from now and then
-
Think I remember somone here saying the Evo VI understeers terribly, I might have found the source: The front anti-roll-bar is much stiffer than the back in default. Switch that the other way, but only slightly. And lower both down to around 4 and 5 instead of the default ~13 or something. This quick try for the weekly (and no other setup changes) made it shift it's weight much more happily ;) Anybody else find that crosscart to be bloody hard to control (driving without assists), I can even drive more controlled with a 037 or 205 E2 despite really hating those. The cart just seems to snap the tail out without warning and almost uncatchable... I also concluded that I like Australia the most currently. Feels the most varied and most unpredictable to be with a great mix of fast straights and techical bits. And the map seems better than the others for Yourstage with big patches of forest and outback alowing much more varied feeling stages. Some can be mostly forest some mostly outback, some in between nicely, together with lots of nice tiles and junctions in different ways. In the weekly there was a very nice (because hard and unexpected) "Right 2 into immediate junction 90 left". Spain also has this nice map of big forest area vs big open area, but some parts in the open area feel more repetitive I feel there, especially the "right 5, left 5, right 5" combo. Sweden is also nicely varied but more difficult to predict from the preview screen, so if you want something specific it might be harder to generate. USA feels most boring visually as it's mostly the same forest and the pieces that are outside are often the same. And the map has really little outside-area in general. Wales seems to have 50/50 on the map, but in small patches all over the place, which leads to most stages having everything. This is good for a single one but not for multiple, they all feel very similar if you pick same settings in the generator. Additionally the forest has some very nice pieces, but the open fields feel very very featureless. I'm missing some windmills, logpiles, gates, roadside-fences and generally stuff in those open areas. @Kick_Up @Hatward @urgaffel Deducting from the above I suggest this for your DLC map (hopefully Argentina) Make the map 35%/35% between forested watersplashy lowlands on one side and open fast highlands on the other with a 30% strip of rocky technical ascent in between as the transition. That should allow the YourStage Algorithm to create stages that are fully lowlands, fully highlands, mainly heavy rock technical and mixes of them all. This way a championship will feel nice and varied with different stage characteristics. Similar (better than) to Australia currently and less samey as Wales and Michigan. Just a thought/inspiration. TL;DR: First para: Evo VI 2nd: Crosscart 3rd and 4th: YourStage observations and suggestions.

I do believe they are seperate classes, but in events they are always multiclass? So you'll drive against the other class like if it's one

Some more constructive feedback: 1. This time it's almost probably a bug: Just did the monthly and 6/12 stages where declared as "fog patches" but all 6 where entirely foggy from start to finish. I do think that is not the intended behavior of "fog patches"? 2. Sponsors should have extendable contracts too. I can extend staff contracts, but I can't sponsors. I can only overwrite them with new ones or wait for them to go away. And the fact that not all are always available, means you can't personalize your livery in terms of sponsors as they are all just temporary. Is this intended? Feels like you should be able to extend the contracts. 3. Sequential shifting is waaay too slow going through the gears. You have a crash and spent an additional 2-4 sec just shifting around to get into reverse and back. It was way faster in DR, why the change? 4. The spotter in RX is sometimes weird. Like "Your 'fighting' for 6th"... "Ahh.. now you're just being mean hah?" Or, when you lead after the 'first' lap of the race: "After all jokered, you're currently fighting for first !" ... "Yeah, no sh*t, sherlock!" 5. formention RX AI seems location related too. Hell or Loheac they're great fast and really hard, Höljes and Portugal you can gain loads of time on them. Don't ask me on Lydden, still can't drive that joker properly enough to comment on that.. that trailbreak right into a two chicane is the hardest corner in all of the RX imho, although the rest of lydden is quite easy. Don't get me wrong though, I'm enjoying this game great times overall! Just a little nitpicking for some patch inspirations ;)

I suggested this a couple of times already, instead of WRC. I'm sure it would be a cheaper license to grab, and probably would allow more freedom to Dev's, to implement / work, in whatever they wanted, with much less restrictions. ERC and EHCC ( European Hill-Climb ) would be great. If the licenses doesn't require an annual game release ( like F1 Games ), i'm all for it... but that might be difficult. I've not understood the fuss about the league licenses... What's there to gain really? We don't need the WRC or ERC name slapped all over the place, the stuff people really want those licenses for are cars and locations don't they? Considering this the ERC, as much as I like it, doesn't have much to offer. We have part of the cars already and R5s are not bound to any ERC regulatory. Location-wise I'm all for Rally Azores, but if it requires to cover ALL ERC locations this might not be a good choice. Location selection is all about variety and ERC is not as varied as for example the WRC locations. If CM follows the YourStage path, the locations aren't locked away, they can just model any country they want as long as they aren't 1:1 replicas of WRC-stages. And I would opt for free choice in that case instead of being eventually forced by the licence to cover every location. quality > quantity So the real issue are the WRC cars and those are I guess the main reason why people want the WRC license. Especially since WRC doens't add anything unique to the sport of Rally apart from Power-stages (which is just a point system). I want the 2017 cars as much as the next guy, but I still think, if they could be gotten without being bound to one league-license that would be the better way. On another note: I never noticed the Mud-flaps are actually physically moving and soft! Was this in DR already? Looks nice how they go forward under braking. And another note: I noticed when watching videos of my driving, that I feel like I didn't remember it being this fast. Like it felt slower while driving it. Anybody else? Do you think the personal time perception actually gets slower when you focus and think faster? Or just that the focus while driving leads to a slower pseudo-perception of time, since you actually realize more little smaller timeframes than what you do when chillin around.

Found a little incosistency of the RX AI. Been doing first event of the WRX, finally driving "a" version of my real car in game. Fearless difficulty. First of all it seems way easier in RX than in Landrush. But the problem was, in the Heats the AI was really really fast. Got Seb Loeb constantly nearly driving in my trunk for one whole heat. But then then semi I won by several car lengths. And the final was this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5UFVaGfhGAo I think it should be the other way round. Not being able to outrun the AI in the final, so you can take the joker safely, while the AI shown much tougher racing in the heats before. Could also be some career modifier, haven't tried Freeplay RX. But I also found the Fiesta Super RX before a little tougher than the WRX itself. But that might be down to the cars maybe. Point is, if anything Final should be tougher than the heats and not the other way round. Maybe it's tied to only portugal, will keep track of that during the WRX. But have to say, the physx are way spot on with the WRX cars ! Haven't driven a real one, but it feels exactly how I imagine it should feel. Good Job there!

highly doubt it. D4 has picked up the appreciated trade of DR of representing REAL motorsport. Raid as depicted in Dirt was always kinda creative interpretation. And to represent raid realisticly you'd need very long distance tracks (Think of Dakar). Probably doable faster now with YourStage tech, but the Engine is limiting the length. So if CM stays on the track of no more fantasy-events, I suspect Raid will be something for a future game, if anything. I'd rather see them get on with that Argentina DLC ;) Well no wait, Leagues first! Honestly, this would be my personal priority (please): League/Clubs update together with loose-grip-or-aero-on-stall-adjustments patch. VR support updateArgentina DLC'07 STI WRC/ '99 Impreza WRC/ Fabia R5/ Corsa R5/ '02 Lancer WRC/ EKS S1 RX - Car Packif Leagues aren't capped at 12 events: One more location, preferably Rally Azores, Monte Carlo, Corsica, Germany(vineyards) or New ZealandThen full steam for D5/DR2 on new engine. But even if only Leagues happens, this game will already have a long longevity for me :)

Does anybody know if there is anything to gain by winning with fearless mode? If so for what: Winning final championship in a discipline? winning all championships? Winning every single event? And if so, what is there to gain? Is there any incentive to use it right now, except the highest difficulty at the cost of loosing H-pattern shifting? Tried the other two modes by the way. Rallycross feels great ! Well done there ! Landrush... meh... driving feels nice, but the opponents... It's like RX except your competition are only douchebags, ramming you everywhere, even if you leave them space.
-
Yeah that Alvarez Dude is quite quick sometimes and then again 30 sec slower some other times... But I sure hope his nationality is a hint for the first location-DLC ;) On another note, more testing with YourStage and I could in addition to Finland also make a very close representation of Rally China (The stages of the cancelled 2016 Rally) with Spain. Highest complexity, only through forest and setting a less Mediterranean lightning with time Sunset and weather Overcast: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OSRHbY-dE8A YourStage really can create some variety! some locations more than others though I feel. I also unlocked Fearless and have to say two things: - I'm really happy it doesn't lock out the rev-meter and gears from dashcam, since dashcam feels so much more natural with my setup than cockpit(it's just too far away) - Changing to H-Pattern being prohibited is kinda weird. But so is, that the "H-Pattern OR Sequential" setting is gone in the first place. Hope both of these can be patched soon. Feels kinda like cheating if you indeed have a H-Shifter and must drive a Grp B car in sequential in the 'Fearless' mode...

I'm not sure if I'm missing something... Where/How do you rename your saved stages locally? That was said to be possible wasn't it? Have you done/tried a run in Michigan with heavy rain? That is some intense stuff, very fast, not much room for error and virtually no visibility at all. Awesome! Anybody else sometimes got disappearing rain-droplets/effects on windscreen ? game restart fixes it again though.
-
That track looks like a ton of fun, I hope you saved it Yes I did. Check the D4RC League Thread if I shall share it with you?
-
Was initially sad, that my for-all-livery looked acceptable on all my cars, except the Subi. Now I unlocked the Prodrive Livery and got a beautiful substitute. It really looks good. I also tried to emulate Finland with YourStage and I'm quite satisfied with the result. Not 'quite' finland, but the feeling is close and it's surely different from typical Wales: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6SeYK5PmHZY
-
I do indeed have a T300RS clamp to spare, since mine is hard-mounted on a rig. Question is, where are you from?
-
So I'd like to share my initial impressions too after the first few hours: - YourStage seems to be the game-changer it'd been advertised as. Although I rerecognise some corners here and there, you never know/learn whats coming behind the next crest and really have to listen to your copilot. Initial tests also show a distinct difference between high and low complexity stages. - Tarmac physics are indeed greatly improved, actually feels plausible now compared to real life with actual grip and heavier force feedback. Sliding on tarmac is no longer a fast alternative, and that's how it should be. -Gravel and snow: Well... It is better in some ways, especially weight feeling and jumps and the feeling for the momentum of the car. But something fishy is going on at the rear end. Which feels like to much grip, especially once you start under or oversteering. My suspicion is, that maybe the aerodynamics aren't reduced enough once you start sliding. So you might get pressed onto the floor as if you were traveling straight. In RL the aero force 'should' (I suspect anyway) go down, once the angle of attack of the air onto the wing/diffusor etc. exceeds stall-limits and creates more turbulence than downforce. Haven't tested that theory enough though, but cars with less aero, seem to behave more predictable (H2 Peugot or Fulvia). But overall it is still very much a simulation, unlike what some people ranted around. Just needs a little finetuning. But I already have great fun. Just did the i20 Invitational and recorded the first stage, for those who haven't preordered and are curious: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O4Hrhy9aEFs Sadly i catched a bush near the end, destroying the otherwise good run. Although, judging by the damage, it was more of a hinkelstein disguised as a bush XD
