  1. DRC - DiRT Rally Championship https://www.dirtrally2.com/clubs/club/39043 Open for everybody, so everybody who feels like participating can do so, no matter how active you are in the forum, and you will not be kicked if you might be inactive for some weeks (As long as you're not cheating of course). If you have ambitions for winning regular participation might be helpful though. On to the rules: Every DRC-Season will consist of all Rally locations, including DLC. One Season has to be completed with the same car! Every event (rally) will last for 3 days and 12 hours. (Making two events fill exactly one week) Each Rally will consist of 7 Stages The first 6 Stages will only consist of the 4 long stages (2 will be repeated). SS1 ,SS4 and SS7 will have Service Parks. SS 7 will be a short stage. Restarts are disabled, Alt-F4-ing is prohibited and will be punished if discovered. Having a Service Park 3 stages apart highly encourages less risky driving (as real world), as you have to cover 30-40km of stage between services. The Reward for a Championship is as follows: 1st: Is eligible to pick the Vehicle Class for the next Season. 2nd: Can pick one of five Season Structures from this Overview: 3rd: Can select the Time and Weather of the very First Stage. <spoiler> ---SUSPENDED until further notice----- The DiRT Legendary Trophy https://www.dirtgame.com/leagues/league/34459/drc---legendary The DiRT Legendary Trophy, powered by the DRC. It is a seperate competition and fully independent from the DRC standings. It consists of 24 stages with over 270km of road and covers all countries available. It only has 2 Service Parks , one after the first quarter and one at the half way-point (after 12 stages). Saving your car and driving more catiously is the key here. "To finish first, you first have to finish" is what you shall have in mind. Car choice is completely free for everone here. Everybody, who finished the Legendary Trophy (read as: Not retired) is allowed to wear one of these Badges in their signature: ---------------------------- Anybody seen with such a badge, who didn't earn it will be kicked from this league without further notice! ---SUSPENDED until further notice----- </spoiler> Cheers, SkyRex

    Community Rally School

Community Rally School #Now also for DR2 Every day there are new threads made for simple questions, for complaints about the game being to hard, for setup requests........ For all of this, simply go here and ask what you want to know. Will keep the forum more organized and also helps other people with the same questions to find the answers faster. This is especially for all the fresh new console players. No elitism bashing here, I own a PS4 myself and know the reasons people have consoles over PCs. And since DR is the same on all platforms this distinguishment shouldn't be made at all in this forum IMO. The Community can give qualitative answers to almost anything: Some say DR is to hard, but for different reasons. There are some that find the effort to achieve something tedious and no fun. People that come home after a stressful day at work and just want to relax and have some nice entertainment in the form of games. Emphasis is here on relax and entertain, which means you don't want to be stressfully challenged or put hundreds of hours into something to get a small sense of nice entertainment. Which is fine, this opinions are totally understandable. But I'm afraid to tell you, that Dirt Rally wasn't aimed at you then. It's like Dark Souls or Kerbal Space Program or Assetto Corsa, all these games demand a lot from their players, be it skill and practise or lots of time learning basic things. For nice evening entertainment look more at Dirt Showdown, Dirt 3, NFS 2015, Just Cause 3, CoD/BF/ etc. Then there are those who generally like this type of game but still find it crazy hard, because they think they should be way faster the way they drive. Maybe they are also new to Rallying. Ask whatever you want about driving techniques, setups, pace notes. game mechanics etc. and the community will answer it for you. Some FAQ: Too slow? - Be aware that you need to upgrade your car in career mode. The AI always has fully upgraded cars, so don't wonder if you're slow if your car isn't yet fully upgraded Not First? - Winning is not the goal. The Podium is (Career). You will proceed to the next class as long as you finish in the top 3 ranks of a championship. Handling weird, Forza drives different? - You are driving offroad, which requires new learning of how a car behaves compared to tarmac. How do upgrades work? - Stage distance driven with a particular car multiplied by your mechanic bonuses. How do you drive stage X ? - Say which parts of certain stages you find difficult and we will guide you the fastest and the most reliable ways through it. Setup? - We can give you advice on setting up your car and you find complete setups in the workshop. Be aware that setups are no 'Nitrous'! They highly depend on the driving style, which means what works for one can feel horrible to the next person. #Be polite and focused. No: "PC's best!" No :"Game is to damn hard!" No: "Nobody can be faster than me, all the others have to be cheatin' " #Ask what you don't know yet and answer what you know for sure. Cheers

TL;DR: Yes and Yes. 1. Revs up on launch not only preloads your Turbo, but any engine delivers different torque at different revs and you want to launch with maximum torque. Now most times the rev of max-torque is also close to max-rev, so maximum revs are definitely better than idle rev. But even better would be the max torque rev for that car. Which is most times around 80% rev. (Or where the green shifitng lights in cockpit go on) 2. For Turbo pressure yes, For World Record Runs as well. To keep maximum control I sometimes lift during a jump, so the wheels touch down with a speed closer to what they shall have anyway. If you touch down with full spinning, you have little grip in the moment of touchdown, which especially if you land a corner-jump or land sideways, can be problematic. Though you will lose some Turbo pressure. Just always make sure that you have full throttle at the split second point of liftoff! As explained here:

Did some comparison on the Grp B, now that we are sure no more additions are joining:
  5. That's a big range still though. From 16km (Argentina) all the way to 30km (Poland)
  6. Just drove the weekly Event in Wales and it dawned upon me, what is wrong with Wales IMHO. Cause currently, especially when conditions are picked by the system automatically (career, community events), Wales ranks in as my least favorite Location, right below Germany. And that despite it being my favorite in DR1. The problem for me is the mood. In DR1 Wales was a misty Forest with moody hills, you felt like being in remote british backcountry. That is mostly gone now. Heavy Rain during Sunset still has Sun shining, daytime is bright and well lit, Rain during day still looks very colorful. And that's it, the lack of conditions really bothers me. The only Rain is Heavy, that should be like a special occasion, like you are just so unlucky the rain started going heavy when your time is up. But now it is 50% of the whole Rally, which makes it all feel 'gamey'. As soon as it dries the only option can be Sunset. It's always shining when drying. There is no Dusk. There is no Fog. There is no light Rain. And where are those nice Fogbank-conditions, that were in D4? Half the time it feels like this road could also be in Finland, just more windy than usual. It is missing the welsh Vibe. The only times I feel the mood is like Rally Wales is during full Nighttime right now. Don't get me wrong, the driving is as best as ever, wet feels properly slippery now and the stages are as technical as always. I really hope there will be a Weather update for Wales down the line, to make it one of the favorites again. DR1 D4: DR2: all official pictures,

So, I can't deny that I expected more, like a new Season. But I can't say I'm unhappy either. The S4 and a new challenging Rally location? Hell yeah bring it on! Though saying "final boss" for Scotlands difficulty is a bold claim in a game which has El Condor. I hope you're not over exagerating. Since it is not a WRC location, can you say which real-world stages have been used for the two long stages in the game? Drummond Hill (13km) and Craigvinean (16,5km) ? Anyhow, just two cars coming and this being the final content for the game, might I propose a compromise solution for the classes? @PJTierney How about you add TWO identical S4 cars, one in 2000's and one in Group A, While also duplicating the Evo VI and placing the duplicate in 2000's ? This would prevent the need for a leaderboard reset, as only new entries come into classes. But it would allow the millenial fights of the iconic cars. (S4 vs. Focus/ Evo vs. Focus/ Evo vs S7/ 206 vs S4) Then only the option for selective ban of cars in clubs would be needed to recreate certain years.

@PJTierney Already a suggestion: IF there really is some Scotland Rally coming, please please please add some light rain or showers as well and not only dry & heavy rain as in most of the DLC Locations. Especially Wales still feels dissappointing in that it either is always dry or drying or it's pouring from the sky. Scotland would be a location with even more rain than Wales and therefor also more probability to encounter different shades of rain from showers to pouring.

Since after the last update I've read some complaints about argentina here again, this might be useful for some:

EDIT: was a response to the something is coming thread. Wrong thread here. Delete if necessary. The IRC once held Rallies in that area: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2010_Rally_Scotland This stage looks interesting, very similar to Wales but more elevation changes. Maybe @PJTierney asking if "UK was always Wales?" was a hint after all?

I explain almost every bit of car setups and how they work in my Country & Setup Series. You need to be able to understand the english terms though.

    Something is coming closer...

Decimal depends on how you read them. Taking those Byte as unsigned 8-Bit Integers would yield: "83 50 49 48 48 48 48 50 52" Not that it looks any helpful. I rather suspect there is further encoding to be done with the ASCII decoded numbers.

You misread the last two Byte. See two posts above yours.

    Something is coming closer...

ASCII for that would be: "S12000024"

Boing Boing brings this to mind. But we already have Sweden. Would a 3rd stage really be on the table? Probably not and am probably overthinking it.

I could select it in MyTeam when I made the Update Video. Are you maybe inside a running season?

http://tech-racingcars.wikidot.com/subaru-impreza-gc8-wrc97 That Page lists " Prodrive 6 speed semi-automatic gearbox with pneumatic paddle-shift or conventional H-pattern " for the S3, S4, S6 and S5. The Evo Vi lists " 5 speed manual gearbox, or 6 speed sequential gearbox INVECS type shift. Click here for Holinger manual ", where they have clearly decided for the sequential. I hope we will get a sequential Subaru for competition as well. Does anyone know, which actual cars in WRC used which transmission? I am still wondering which one we'll end up with, and more importantly how classed? Technically it would go into Group A, but the Legacy would go there too. Which would leave it mostly behind from the get go. I'm all for a class split or a Multiclassing of cars, both of which would probably require a leaderboard wipe, which makes it less likely (sadly). Imagine a Rally Season with the Group A, minus the Evo, plus the Legacy. Or one with the '01 Focus, '00 Impreza and '99 Evo. Or one with the Delta Integrale, '99 Evo and '99 Impreza. @PJTierney Is Multiclass support for clubs still on some wishlist in the studio? Or has it been confirmed as not happening? P.S. Since 1.12 is still not Live, my usual Video will have to wait until after work tomorrow. EDIT: so the '99 Impreza was definitely paddle-shifed:

While waiting for the Subaru's DLC and maybe hopefully at least one more Rally location, I now started a new Series, with a particular topic, that might be of interest to some around here.
