Exactly. Wet Tyre mainly means better profile, for water offrun. Gravel Tyres already have deep profiles for the dirt and rocks, so they are also good for wet always. Off course wet is gonna be more slippery, that's just how physics are. Though the difference is much less than trying to drive tarmac slicks in the wet.
Other questions:
- fast repair will degrade the part over time and you can not repair it again, only replace. Most useful, if you are at last service park and need to save time
- normal repair, basically as new.
- replace, for parts that can't be repaired (lights) and for stuff you previously quick-repaired.- Yes, you don't need to fix headlights if no night comes up. If there really is different aerodynamics at play, they are negligible.
- You can only buy new cars, that you could buy today, as the game is set in todays time. So any historic car can only be bought used. If it was totalled several times or not is IMHO just for statistics. If you don't care about those numbers, just buy the cheapest offer and repair that. It's all just as fast.

Damn, about 10sec faster every stage except the last. And that despite my run feeling quite solid and for once rather mistake-free. When Yabby does his run, maybe mine will still be enough to hold 3rd and get a podium once again.
I have to ask: Tyre-Choice? I took Winters and only softs for stage 7. Only on stage 7 I was on par with your time, so did you take softs everywhere, even with the ice?

It is funny how people want to call Dirt Rally 2 a simulator just because they really like this game and get a "I am a rally driver" feeling from it :]] I suggest anyone who calls Dirt Rally a sim, to go and get good at assetto corsa, iRacing or something similar and than comeback to dirt rally 2. Then you'll understand. That what happened to me with Dirt Rally 1, I couldn't take it serous no more. Good games though.
I would suggest you go out and drive a real car fast on loose surfaces, like snow, and compare that to RBR and to DR2, to judge who is closer to reality.
Also, notice how I said exclude tarmac? Nobodys arguing DR2's tarmac physics are true sim and if you compare it to AC it loses badly, sure. You're comparing apples to papayas here. But try this: drive a lap in AC only on the grass, not on the tarmac. Do that with a real car in the real world. And then do it in DR2.

Now at least I didn't need online connection these past few days to produce this, for which some have been waiting eagerly. But I first had to be certain that the way of setup I present is actually the way I would use it and that it makes driving more consistent.
But now the Server will be interesting again, as there is a DRC-Rally I plan to participate in.

They're going up and down at irregular intervals. so it's all luck of the draw if they happen to be up when you've got the time to play. I was lucky on the timing so got to do this event, but others won't be able to through no fault of their own, which is disappointing for everybody, not just those directly impacted. How can I see just how bad I am if most drivers can't play? 😄
The really disappointing thing, however, is that if the servers keep enough people out of this event, I might get some points by default, which I would feel like I stole. So actually, my "oil leak" makes me feel better, ensuring that I'll be properly last place in a limited field. I mean, if everybody was playing and I did NOT have the "oil leak", I'd be last of the finishers anyway, I'm sure, so the "oil leak" would have cost me nothing. Last by an extra few minutes is still last 😉
The way the clubs reward points is based on number of participants. So if less people participate, you also get less points by default even if you win. You can check that out looking through the last events.

So despite having better physics (excluding tarmac) than RBR, it is no simulation?
Is this one of these arguments, where "simulation" equals "most difficult to drive" rather than "like driving in real life" ???-

Hmm, failed to Download Clubs. if this persists I might not be able to compete in argentina... Why are the Servers in mayhem??

Here might be a misconception. ABS just tries preventing the blocking of the wheels, not the spinning of the car. I would suggest turn off ABS completely, got to the DirtFish Area and try out different approaches and how the car behaves. Too much ABS can actually case a spin, especially if you are turning and braking at the same time (though you should avoid this in general).

So going by what they are saying, staying in 5th gear then changing down to 2nd just before the corner is not as effective as changing down 5>4>3>2.
In esscence, Skyrex is saying that although you do not percieve an issue changing down gears the way you currently do; you are actually reducing your car control and slowing yourself down by not changing through all the gears as you reduce speed for a corner.
At least I believe that is what they are trying to say.Correctly described.
This is also the key use-case for Heel-Toe Downshifting. Keeping the revs high and engaged while one the brakes, without unsettling the car on the shifts.
It's much more elaborate to do. But side by side a car braked in a straight line will slow down slightly quicker if shifted through every gear. But I actually covered this in a video. Watch for Deceleration and for heel-toe:-

Actually in terms of driving you do. The more time spend in gear at high revs, the more engine braking effect, slowing you down more effectively.

So I did it again, finally got the last RX Trophy.
Turns out, when you use the 2018 cars, the AI qualifier times are much less fantastical than in the 2019. This time I won two of them and had 2nd & 3rd in the other two, leaving qualifier round with an overall lead. Also I used the cockpit view, with the actual wheel visible, not sure that made a difference.
But in any case, the description is wrong. The trophy is not about winning the final, but about winning the whole event.EDIT: On the Trophy hunt today, I captured what is needed for the new secret trophy introduced with FLAT OUT.

I am trying to remember for certain if the result shown for your qualifying race(s) are where you finished in the individual race or where you finished overall in that qualifying round.
You might have won all four qualifying races, but if your times weren't that quick you won't have got that many points at the intermediate stage?
10th x3 and 11th in the 4th Qualifier.
But those points don't matter as long as you reach the final, right? That's the whole point of a final

Since the Assistance Tab has a spambot right now, I port this here.
I just raced like hell in Hell to get the Achievement of winning a FIA RX Final, no assists, 100 AI.But when the Results where shown, the overall event got a 3rd:
This is unbelieveably frustrating! How can this even happen, the event result IS EXACTLY the result of the final race! There is no conversion or anything needed.

... that was intense!
I was like, yeah New Zealand as a start, nice flowing turns, good Rally to start the Season...
Then of course I cracked the windscreen on S2, but no big deal, car was fine. Got a table 3rd position, about 10 secs behind @Dytut thinking about closing the gap with some more risk. Then in Stage 4, not even halfway into it, I confidently ignored a "don't cut" and hit a rock head on. Radiator light on. More than 2.5 long stages to go... That turned south quickly. Suddenly it felt like one of the new McRae Scenarios. Finish without terminal damage and in the Top 10. I didn't wanna get a retired right at the season opening, so I pushed on.
At the finish of S4 the engine light was on and the radiator steamed some smoke into the sky. da mn. okay, calm, keep it together.
S5 and S6 I drove as gentle to the engine as possible while still going as fast as possible, I wanted to keep my position, but @Janneman60 creeped ever closer after each stage.
Short shifting all the way, I tried to make the shifting lights in the Evo's cockpit not come on at all, not even the first green one, already shifitng up at about 5000 rpm.
You would be surprised by how many hairpins in NZ you can drift in 3rd gear! Thankfully the Evo has no noticable Turbo lag in the lower revs.
At the end of S5 the engine revs became spasmic. Shortly after start of S6 it sounded very fissy as well, very ill. I though like, any moment now, please keep it together, just 5 more kilometers, please. It pulled through. Service park I fixed the engine, and made quick fixes to the most important parts, anything I had time for. Who needs new lights? Or a repaired body shell? And who doesn't like the character of a slightly bend wheel geometry. At least the wreck was running cool and revving high again.
S7 I pulled almost the same pace as before the incident. And it all payed of, still on Pos 3rd as we speak, still about 10 sec distance to 4th (down from a minute).
I think I never had such a stressful Rally in our League before.

But.
I also have to say that I don't like those super late pace notes. Also there is just plain wrong calls IMO and I find it confusing and hard to trust those pace notes.
I agree with late delivery of pace notes, some come way too late.
But I haven't seen any totally wrong ones. Some few are too slow and could be faster. But none seem to be too fast. Althogh the window you have to precisely hit to take some at the speed called is quite a bit narrower than in other locations. Which I like, makes it a good challenge.-

After months and months of asking can you offer season 3/4 to your customers who bought season 1/2 6 months ago .
That when you finally offer season 3/4 at £7.99 . A day later we find out that dirt rally 2.0 is completely free on playstations ps4 monthly games for April.
You must have been aware of this and also u are still trying to get people to buy the game of the year edition full bundle dirt rally 2.0.
Something is wrong here
Your thoughts would be very much appreciated codemasters.
I don't really get some people. If you would want/enjoy Season 3/4 enough, to justify the effort writing about it on a forum, why couldn't you justify paying the price of two sandwiches to buy it over the last few months? Of course it's gonna be free in bundles at some point, to keep some revenue flowing from DLC.
What many seem to forget is that time is money as well. Will you get the same software cheaper, if you wait for a year? Of course. But part of the price is having that software already during that year. And i made far worse investments than the enjoyment time gained per dollar from DR2. It probably reaches a point, where the cumulative electricity cost of my racing rig starts to overtake the buy-in price of the software running on it.

Damnit,
after a DNF in USA, I went for Germany, funnily the one I would chose to kick from the calendar, and got a strong 2nd place, no mistakes in driving.
Then came Wales, always a candidate for failure, but I had a very strong day, almost no mistakes, a little tree-touch and slidong off the road on the very last stage is all that cost me the victory there, just 1sec behind @baunau. I even went on to run the Solberg World Cup afterwards, which would've been a Top 20 run, if it weren't for a tire change penalty, though it still got me into Top 50 on that day.
Now today I went into Poland, felt not quite good right from the start. Some touches here and there, broken windscreen, but the first two stages I drove out a lead of over 40 sec to 2nd place. Then 3rd stage I landed a jump sideways and slid frontally into a tree. Terminal crash, impact 120 kph.
At least after the last couple events I feel like I haven't lost my Mojo. The speed for victories is still there, I can drive fast enough. Just... not consistently enough. Not without mistakes that cost lots of time or whole rallies. I should really work on training the 90 % driving style. Whenever I say "this one gotta be real cautious" I still catch myself driving 100 % regardless...
