Leagues should be separated by the camera used, steering input used and gear method used.

One person's being fast might not translate right across the available gaming methods.

How hardcore would the locked interior cam, manual H pattern with Clutch league be??  :)
I would definatly join that league

It would just make no sense to put 2l cars in 2010s class. '11 WRC cars had more changes than the engine displacement, for example the lack of electronic driving aids and they also started to use cars from B-segment instead of C.
You do realise that engine displacement doesn't matter? The cars still produce 300BHP anyway and they have the same weight limit. Suspension is newer on '11 ones but like you mentioned restrictions came regarding electronic aids, so it should level out nicely.

Putting an '07 car against an '01 ones is a complete and utter nonsense.
But if that's the case, and they are also adding the C4 , then that would alreay add up to 1300k for just these two cars. which would mean only two R4 cars, no modern WRC cars like the Polo and a total of 4 cars for a pure car update...
    seems unlikely

But I agree that the 07 Focus doesn't really fit any class (since we know only R4 will be a new class due to the achievments). BUT IF it is in this update (which seems so considering Pauls tweet) then it will be in the 2000's . For one simple reason : It was built and used before 2010, which means it can't logically be in 2010's class.
So assuming every class gets an achievemnt, that means either the Focus will be in 2000's or it will not be in this update

  3. So , 1.5 million?
    Lets calculate:
Focus RS is confirmed, so 500k for 2000's class
    leaving 1mil
So now the question of how many cars is highly dependant on if there is another 2010's car ?
Assuming an R4 car is based on real life costs it will be around 100k
    Which options does that leave:
(All options automatically inlcude the Focus in the 2000's)
    Option 1:
2010's: Polo R WRC(650k)   .......(OR DS3 OR i20 but I think Polo is most likely)
    R4: Evo X , STI '15 , STI '14, Evo IX (75k each)
    Option 2:
    2000's: STI '07 OR C4 (500k)
    R4: Evo X , STI '15 , STI '14, Evo IX (125k each)
    Option 3:
    2010's: Polo R WRC(650k)
R4: Evo X ,(only one of the two: STI '15 , STI '14) (175k each)
    Option 4:
    2010's: Polo R WRC(700k)
    R4: Evo X , (STI '15 OR EvoIX ), STI '14 (100k each)

I don't know of any more options in R4 (and I doubt a Renult Megane is in it) and assuming the cars shall be relativly modern and only restricting on Rally cars (no Suzuki SX4 Monster), then it will probably be one of these four options. Where would you bet your money on? Mine's on Nr. 1 or Nr. 4...

  4. R4 STI '15

Consider codemasters teasing of the '15 STI wing shortly before it was offically announced. It's nearly two years ago, and if that wa a sign of a succesful licence aggreement with subaru, that could mean they could start model the new STI as soon as it was available.
And it would also be a fitting cover car for Modern Masters because it will be as modern as it gets in Dirt Rally at this point (since there won't be '15 WRC cars due to licencing)

Please tell my my thinking makes sense :)

  5. The big question of the week for me is:  Will there be the 2015 WRX STI R4 ? Would be pretty modern too...
    My guess(wish) for the update:
    R4:
    Evo X
    WRX STI Hatch
    WRX STI '15 R4

    2010's:
    VW Polo WRC

    2000's or 2010's:
    Focus RS WRC
    06/07 Impreza STI WRC

let's see how much i hit right with this

(Some weeks ago I also would've guessed on modern Hillclimb cars like the Suzuki SX4, but I'm no longer so sure about that)

  6. Judging by the way CM talks about #thisothercar I assume it's either some very legendary, or some pretty mad one.
Going the mad way one springs to my mind although its a hillclimber: The Suzuki SX4 Monster with 900+hp

The other way, assuming its no Mitsubishi, it's either the other quattro, another legendary Subaru or maybe it's some more modern car. Maybe they are refering to the VW Polo WRC as it dominates the WRC currently.
Or.... think of the very very first teaser picture related to Dirt Rally that came from codemasters? It was the rear wing of the (then) newly announced WRX STI '15 ..... so maybe the car is the new NR4 WRX STI (assuming they introduce NR4 or R4 or R?) OR and now comes the most unlikely but also my personal favorite: David Higgings WRX STI '15 he currently uses in the Rally America. But since that doesn't fit any class AFAIK its unlikely.
