DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games

Ford isn't particularly interested in backing official programmes in most of rallying to be honest, M-Sport have been fighting a lot in the last few years for more support...

The fact that none of this is actually shown in the menus makes the system seem way less impressive than this though. I mean, I haven't seen a way to check how much wear the tyres have, in the service park it only says "worn"... Do you happen to know if tyre temperature is simulated as well?

Are we talking about community events or career? Because a spare tyre can be quite useful in longer rallies. I had to retire once because I punctured the rear right tyre on the Alpine and, because the car has no locking diff, I could barely get up to 40 kph in the top gear, while the rim was spinning like crazy and making sparks.

I've had the standard rim on my T300 since I bought it and I've played all sorts of racing games with it. Never had a problem and I don't think a dedicated rim would make me faster at F1, whereas a Formula rim for DiRT would be utterly useless

Half an hour is an overkill, with D4's livery editor it would take a lot less to make them... In half an hour I could manage to do better liveries back then, and I remember someone created a whole three-pages PDF with awesome liveries for the Fiesta R5 all created with the same editor

The livery with the blue stripe was used in the Bahrain and United Arab Emirates GP because of the different laws about alcohol promotion there

You mean in game? No, it was like this from 2014 to 2018, then Martini stopped sponsoring Williams (and it seems they did so at the right time) Things are getting spicy. Even though I don't know what a hat actually tastes like

The barcode Marlboro logo is prohibited in most of europe because it still evoques the original logo. And given the fuss associations are making about Mission Winnow, I don't think Codies really want to get involved with tobacco sponsorships. The Martini stripes are a different matter and they've been tackled in various different ways by devs. Seeing how they reproduced the Williams Martini Racing livery in F1 games, Codies again don't seem very keen on this

After few months and a nice 50% off deal, I've finally bought DiRT Rally 2.0 too... Time to crash in some new stages I guess

I'd say TX leather edition, the leather rim is better than the stock Ferrari replica and, being round, it is also more usable for rallying

The problem of such a championship is that it would last about ONE CORNER, before all the cars would roll to their untimely destruction. Any survivor would then have to navigate the wrecked mess, so...

Don't know about DR2 yet, but in DR1 I was always faster in Sweden in the night because the headlights clearly defined margins and snowbanks, while during the day the lighting is flat and it's hard to tell the road apart

DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games

DiRT Rally is, and will always be, seen through rose-tinted glasses. The handling in DR2.0 is superior to its predecessor, the graphics are better, the gravity actually a thing on the stages. What 2.0 lacks is the general feeling and the atmosphere DiRT Rally had during its release and its development. The first one was something unseen for decades, built by passionate rally fans for passionate rally fans almost for the sheer sake of it. An experiment that proved successful beyond any expectation. 2.0 isn't made by less passionate people, it simply followed a more average release cycle with not-so-great results and ended up being too buggy for the likings of many. The higher ups at codies should have learned the lesson with DiRT 4 and not pushed the game out so early. Seems like they didn't

DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games

DiRT Rally, the original one, was created by the passion of a few members of the team, and it was mainly an experiment on which the higher ups weren't particularly interested at the start. DiRT Rally 2.0 was a game directed and decided by the higher ups and the developers had to sort of live with this. In the end, the public, the players and the reviewers can still tell the difference. DR2.0 is good, but it somehow lacks the soul the original had, and that was what told DR1 apart from all other games

The game will randomly shut off completely and refuse to work anymore, and every car will lose power at the end of straights. But given that Alonso is a Toyota driver this could well be interesting for Codies... Aw COME ON. 😥

Germany looks GOOOOD in DR2.0, it has benefited a lot from the facelift. Is it just me or there are less crowds on the side of the stage though?

I'm afraid no cigarette brands are allowed in games anymore. They could do a Racing Porsche livery as in Project CARS though

Well, all the hype for sound recording gossip now officially goes into Season 3. I can see people being interested in this S2, but I only care for Wales and 037 + 911 to be brutally honest

Codies: *try to keep all the new content secret until the eventual reveal* People who give their car for recording: *spoil everything by posting pics of the recording session, even tagging Codemasters* Codies: I'm genuinely sorry about this but I just had to😅

Ogier almost ROLLED in a rut because he took it at the wrong angle, two weeks ago in Argentina. So they definitely have an impact on the car behavior

VEERY bad crash. Luckily all the energy of the impacts was taken by the car (which is, in fact, destroyed) so the two were able to walk away from it with no serious injuries. Speaking of walking away, do you think it was the right call to get them out so quickly? As far as the spectators knew the situation could have been wayyy worse
