DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games

If Rally Mexico comes in, I'd be SUPER happy. Every time I watch the WRC I can't help but think the stages and the setting look visually GREAT...

Gotta love how @ChristinaMc reacted to this. They either have a solution for this, or she is a Martini White fan. I hope for the former, to be honest

The Martini livery is not going to happen, it would go against their PEGI rating. Williams didn't have it either in all Codies F1 games so they don't have a good record with alcohol sponsors

F1 games from 2016 onwards have camera settings for TV onboard, TV onboard (offset) and Cockpit, but not for chase cam. The equivalent cameras in DiRT would be interior, dashcam and bonnet camera (sort of). It would be nice to have such an option (yes, FOV slider is included)

Codies, and some other devs too, seem to suffer from the simulator syndrome. Basically, they (and some parts of the community, mostly not here) think that a simulator is a serious and focused experience and therefore ANY chance of light-hearted modes or in-between events immersion is pointless and should be avoided. I think all of these programmes are first and foremost GAMES, and therefore should try to be funny and entertaining. And a part of me still wants party modes like in the older DiRTs, but with those new physics

Mk.2 Escort is a very iconic rally car, and it would be very high on my list, but it is well known only between rally fans, as the general public doesn't really associate it with rallying. Also, the Escort had quite a rivalry with Lancias at his times, so here in Italy the Stratos is considered more iconic

Being born in 2001 and talking about cars with mainly people of my age, I'd say that the Impreza really is the most well-known car that comes from a rallying background, at least between the general public who doesn't know much about rallies. The Lancia Delta is right there, but I think this is because I'm in Italy, and it's still less known between very young guys. That said, which one would you say is THE most iconic rally car? Any Gr.B?

God, the 1997-99 Impreza WRC looks SOOO good... And it's possibly the most iconic rally car of all time, surely the recent ones

The irony of Codies not being able to licence the car as "Subaru Impreza WRC9x" and deciding to actually call it 22b as to avoid legal trouble would be IMMENSE🤣

Yo! His palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy There's vomit on his sweater already: Mom's spaghetti He's nervous, but on the surface he looks calm and ready To go full-on, but he keeps on forgetting What they wrote down, the copilot starts to shout He opens the gas, but the turns won't slow down He's rolling, how? Everybody's joking now The clock's run out, rear's flat, over—blaow! Crash back to reality, ope there's moon gravity, ope There goes radiator, it's holed, he's so mad but he won't Give up that easy, no, he won't have it, he knows His whole car's off the road, the rear door is all gone There's nothing left that's not broke, it's all f****d up, he knows When he goes back to the mobile service, that's when it's Back to the crew again yo, this whole rollcage Better be repaired in a moment and hope it resists

I'm guessing it's some sort of internal Japanes/Land of the Rising Sun stuff, much like Assetto Corsa had an easier time getting Ferrari licenced because they were both Italian. Patriotism, if you will. Or the licensing offices find it easier to sign contracts with people with their same language...

Let's face it, snowbanks work fairly randomly even in real life sometimes. Changes in temperature and weather can make them work in totally different ways, and what you can get away with once will probably be lethal the next time. That said, flying cars aren't a thing we see that often, exept maybe for Lappi this year

I like to think this is what they do at Codies when they create a placeholder sound for a new car

If the two locations supposed to come in the same update are in fact RX tracks and all the others are Rallies, we're on for 14 RALLY LOCATIONS and 12 RX tracks. And this would be exactly as awesome as it sounds... 😍

DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games

Yep, but looking at how they plan to release Season 1 I don't think they'd put two actual rally locations in the same update. So those are probably the RX tracks

That would be incredible. It would bring stage degradation to a whole new level, and we could see wheather changing during the course of the stage... It would probably be very demanding for the engine and hardware though, so I guess it's something for the future/next gen. Longer stages area priority over this. Also, in some ways I think DR2 did a step back to D4 in this aspect. In D4 you could choose any time of day with any weather condition, and there were plenty to choose from. It felt really immersive to see all those different combinations

To be honest, that game was underestimated. It had some very good physics, maybe not as much of a sim as DiRT Rally (cars had weight though) but very believable. It had lots of stages and a good car list, but the quality wasn't on par with DiRT games. The bad reputation of the studio did the rest...

Ugh. I still find the Focus considerably more attractive. I find most cars more attractive to be honest, as far as looks go... Although it's a new car and it's a Subie, so it's still very interesting
