  1. Strange how you can compare the development time of project cars with F1 2015.

It took Project Cars 4 years to bring the game out, F1 2015 is being worked on since 2012 so 2/3 years. F1 has a type of car, Formula 1 (or Formula A), project cars has 60 different cars or. Project Cars has 30 locations with variations. Project Cars has game modes, F1 2015 has not.

So Codemasters spent 3 years on the development of 1 car, 20 tracks, 1 game mode and an online multiplayer. And still managed to get it delayed...
Where are you pulling this idea that F1 2015 has been worked on since 2012?

Also Project Cars Formula A, is a spec series. They make one car and slap a bunch of different liveries in it. F1 2015 has the 14 and 15 season, which has 11 and 10 teams. So Codemaster's have to make 21 F1 cars all with different performance and appearance.

I don't believe Codemaster's would have started work on 2015 till late 2013 at the earliest. Even if they did start it then they would have had to split the team so some could work on 2014 and the other to start work on 2015. So I'd wage they've only had 1.5-2 years on 2015.

I'm not saying Codemaster's are void of all criticism but there's no point in making stuff up to shill Project Cars

Are you serious? All they are doing is changing a few parameters in the database to adjust different car performances.

  2. I'm about in this thread if you have any questions (within reason of course )

Just one question, and I mean it absolutely serious: Do you really think this game will sell well without any kind of advertising? Or are sales of the F1 series not important for you anymore? It seems like you shifted all your manpower to the Dirt series.

Dive-bomb into PCars AI like in the crap Codemasters games and your race is over. You actually have to race the AI like in real life, waiting for a mistake or slipstream them. That's what I love about PCars Formula A.
Nope,in this the AI dive-bomb the player instead. Granted, I prefer the AI to be aggressive compared to passive but in PCars they're too far the other way. They're great in clear air and defending, but the minute you're side by side or slightly ahead that's it, you're invisible to them. In F1, sure they're too easy and as you say, you can dive-bomb them, but I never dive into the AI in F1, rather treat it as if my race would be over with contact and the AI aren't so bad and at least they know you're there.
A middle ground between the aggression of PCars and the more passive approach of F1 (with a slider option to adjust their aggression between the two perhaps) is needed I personally feel.
If PCars fixes that issue where the AI think they can drive through you, then I'll probably agree that they're as good as is being said. But right now, they're not as good as they're being made out to be.
If they dive-bomb into you, you're too bad for the game. If you're good enough they don't have a chance to drive into you, like in real life, they have the exact same braking point as the player, not 300 meters before the player like in CM's F1.

  4. The game won't be delayed. It's just another trick by Codemasters to hide the bad quality of the game. I'm pretty sure they'll also set the embargo to release date to get as many sales as possible before the bad reviews drop in.

If I'm Right in thinking from what I've read on this post why cant CM upload a Screenshot or video if they are the ones causing the delay not FOM?, Surely You Guys Can Take A Quick Screenshot Or If Needs Be Grab A Pic On A Mobile Phone. I'm Patient When It Comes To Game Information, But This Lack Of Information Is Scary Rather Than Annoying, Its Looking Like A Delay Or No Big Improvement From F1 2014. And If Career Is Fully Gone (Probably To Make Space From Broadcast Mode) Why Have A 1 Season Career In The Game At All?, Surely Career Mode Is All About Progression, Look At FIFA, You Wouldn't Play 1 Season As A Manager At Arsenal Then When The Seasons Over Just Say "Right That's It, Pick A New Team And Start Again" It Would Be Pointless And No Different Than A Quick Race/ Custom Championship.
Can You Please Stop Writing Like This?...
Apologies I'm doing this on my phone. :)
hehe, no problem just little bit frustrating to read like that... But anyway, back to topic... I honestly starts to feel that this game either will be delayed or they just have something to hide...I mean if the game is good and going to be finished when they wanted, why not show anything with under 3wheeks to release...
Just the same strategy as 2014 (must have worked for them): Hiding as long as they can that the game is a total disaster.

  6. Hah, remember this post:

It was in the  Improving Codemasters Image thread. Our new Community Manager had a deck full of great ideas to launch and support the game in a better way. Interviews, video's, screenshots, gameplay. F1 2015 would be different this time around. They would draw attention to the game and get a buzz going.

3 weeks till launch and all we have is a name and 5 or so screenshots. This is becoming a joke and frankly, I'm starting to become so annoyed that a game publisher couldn't care less about the product they're making that the choice to really boycot this game is becoming very easy. They seriously need a hit in the sales to get the message across...

As I already said. This guy is even worse than the guy who had this job before.
The best marketing guy Codemasters ever had was Andy who was responsible for F1 2010 - F1 2012.

...To be honest - I am going to go out on a limb here and say something that might stir up some controversy but...

...I bet the Codemasters F1 2015 development team have played Project CARS and sat there laughing! - and said, "What on earth were we worrying about! LOL"

...I have every faith in Codemasters and I dare say, it will be leaps and bounds over those Project CARS rip-off Formula cars! ;)

  8. The AI from what I've raced with in Formula Gulf aren't the best but I think this has something to do with the way I try to overtake. As in the F1 games its been fairly easy to outbrake the AI where here its not and I'm having to really time the overtake, get it wrong and the smallest of touches can wreck your race. A lesson Im quickly learning but its great.
Dive-bomb into PCars AI like in the crap Codemasters games and your race is over. You actually have to race the AI like in real life, waiting for a mistake or slipstream them. That's what I love about PCars Formula A.

  9. One thing in CM's favour might be that in almost every video I've seen of people playing Project Cars, they've said the Formula A car just feels "wrong", not to mention the silliness of being able to use DRS anywhere during a race.
Who said FA "feels" wrong? Obviously I've never driven a F1 car but for me it feels much more realistic than CM's F1. For PCars it all depends on the correct settings.
As for DRS: It's based on the 2011 rules, when DRS was allowed anywhere in Qualifying. I'm pretty happy they're allowing it in the race too, because DRS is just bullshit so it gives great racing with equivalent cars and not just push-to-pass fake overtakes. Slipstream is still too much in Pcars, though. It's a known bug and will be fixed soon.

  10. Project Cars AI is the best AI in any racing game I've ever seen. They even try to force you into a mistake.
Sometimes they're a little bit too aggressive but that's a very small issue compared to the ridiculous AI we know from CM. I'm pretty sure their new AI in F1 2015 will be not much improved.

  11. finding the game awesome so far. Won 2 races in Formula Gulf out of 4 but the AI kept close through out (80%) so might bulk it up for the higher formulas to 90%. The slider is a great idea and should be inthe F1 games.

Are all the cars the same performances? Like in F1 manor is much slower than all the teams. Does this happen in Formula A or are all cars equal performance?
They have different pace. I already got back markers after 18 laps on 90%.

Edit - I guess you have to set them to "same class" instead "identical". Not sure about that.

This game is so awesome. Just did 53 laps Monza race.
Despite being much harder than CM's F1 games I can do much more consistent laps. I guess it's because you can feel what the car is doing and there's actually a realistic handling model behind it.
AI on lap 1 is awful (aggressiv) but after that it's fantastic. I raced behind the leader by 0,9 seconds lap after lap and couldn't get closer. That's like in the old fantastic days when there was no DRS bullshit.

    I love it. :)
There is DRS (and KERS) on pCars

I know but since the player and the AI can use it everywhere it  annuls each other :)

  14. I got my Project Cars copy. This game is awesome. Forget everything about this crap Codemasters F1 series. Playing Project Car's Formula A is like day and night. I don't know how somebody feels when he drives an real F1 car for the first time but I guess it's similar.

Get Project Cars and forget F1 2015.

So somebody mentioned that Pcars and F1 share the same publisher (Bandai Namco) earlier and I am thinking out loud here, so bear with me.

Pcars is being released on the 7th of May, I'm guessing Bandai are putting pressure on CM (or out right telling them, I'm not sure how their relationship works) to not promote F1 right not as it may mean losing on Pcars sales. I'm expecting that F1's marketing campaign will start after the 7th (possibly a week or two later so customers on the fence don't go the other way). Then I'm guessing they hope F1's huge global appeal, especially in Europe and Asia, to carry the sales of the game for them.

And here's a wishful thought if I ever had one: Bandai feel that F1 2015 has enough quality (+ the already existing appeal of F1) to be able to pull off a successful short campaign without hurting the sales figures.

@vtidixon (or anyone who knows) lately i been totally focused on F1... trying to get info. Has the AI issue been resolved with Project Cars?
Im wondering out loud if they can't get the AI right.

Wonder what the F1 AI will be like.
The AI is pretty good. It's still not perfect though. It depends on the track but sometimes the AI is a little bit too aggressive and therefore too often off the track. You can get an impression here, it's the final build:
